Members of the Chicago City Council’s Black Caucus accused Mayor Lori Lightfoot of mishandling the deployment of the Illinois National Guard to protect certain neighborhoods and not others, but the National Guard told the Daily Caller News Foundation it did not know where it deployed its own troops.

Aldermen said the business corridors to the South and West did not receive the same level of protection as other places amid the city’s protests over George Floyd, according to an audio recording of a conference call obtained by WTTW News, which first reported on it. 

The Illinois National Guard was not able to directly answer where its troops were deployed when the DCNF asked.

The troops “fell under the purview of the Chicago Police Department, all we know is that they were at 30 different locations but we don’t know anything else,” Barbara Wilson of the National Guard Public Affairs Office told the DCNF.

“Please direct your request to the Mayor’s Office and/or the Illinois National Guard,” Kellie Bartoli, a Chicago Police Department spokeswoman, told the DCNF.

(Washington Times)  -  Leading Chinese technology companies have sold equipment to state governments in the U.S. that can be used by Beijing to obtain sensitive information, according to a security analysis made public Monday.

The contracts for China-based Lexmark and Lenovo permit the companies to send data and information they receive from state and local government work to China under a 2017 law requiring all companies to cooperate with Beijing’s intelligence services, including granting access to the data the companies collect overseas, the report said.

Sen. Marco Rubio, Florida Republican, said at a teleconference Monday marking the release of the report that he is concerned about local governments’ vulnerability owing to their use of Chinese equipment.

“When you embed into a state and local system, it allows you the opportunity to do things like steal intellectual property — research funded by taxpayers that’s then turned to the advantage of their companies, which don’t have to spend the money on the basic research,” Mr. Rubio said.

“We have never faced that sort of vulnerability before in the backbone of our country, and it is something that we need to bring more awareness about,” Mr. Rubio added.

Just days after the Super Bowl, Assembly members Kevin McCarty (D-Sacramento) and Lorena Gonzalez Fletcher (D-San Diego) said they are introducing the “Safe Youth Football Act,” legislation that will be considered this year by state lawmakers.

Under the bill, organized tackle football would be allowed starting with high school freshmen.

The lawmakers said they were following advice of medical professionals who believe limiting tackle football would help prevent young athletes from sustaining long-term brain damage caused by repetitive tackling, hitting and blocking.

Top Navy admiral testifies on ship collisions: 'Perhaps we've asked sailors to do too much'

(Washington Examiner)  -  A top Navy admiral told House lawmakers that sailors and ships based in the Pacific might be stretched too thin during his testimony Thursday on two deadly naval accidents this summer.

Adm. Bill Moran, vice chief of naval operations, said the service is still investigating exactly what went wrong with the USS John S. McCain and USS Fitzgerald destroyers that led to very similar but separate collisions that killed 17 sailors, but the limited number of ships in the region and the high operations point to a service that is overstretched.

"All of these things culminated in this notion we aren't big enough to do everything we are being tasked to do, and our culture is we are going to get it done," Moran said. "We've asked those sailors to do an awful lot who are forward deployed, and perhaps we've asked them to do too much."

(Fox News)  -  The guided-missile destroyer USS John S. McCain was involved in a collision with a merchant vessel east of Singapore and the Strait of Malacca, the 7th Fleet announced in a tweet.

Initial reports indicate the warship sustained damage to its port side aft.

The warship is named after John S. McCain, Sr., and John S. McCain, Jr., both Admirals in the U.S. Navy, and the grandfather and father, respectively, of the Arizona senator.

This crash came days after the top three leaders aboard the USS Fitzgerald were relieved of command. That warship was damaged badly in a collision off the coast of Japan that killed seven sailors in June. One of its compartments flooded in about 90 seconds.

The USS John S. McCain sailed by contested man-made islands in the South China Sea earlier this month, drawing China's "strong dissatisfaction."

Aside from the USS McCain and USS Fitgerald incidents, the Navy crusier USS Antietam ran aground dumping over 1,000 gallons of oil in Tokyo Bay in Februray. 

In May, another cruiser, USS Lake Champlain, hit a South Korean fishing vessel.

(Free Beacon)  -  Retired Lt. Col. Ralph Peters told Fox News host Bill Hemmer on Wednesday that he does not believe in "threatening" enemies of the United States like North Korea, but instead "killing them."

"Bill, first of all I don't believe in threatening our enemies, I believe in killing them," Peters said. "War should always be a last resort, but we are coming to the point in North Korea because of the utterly botched diplomacy because of the inanity of our approach to China on all this."

He went on to say that military conflict may become inevitable in order to protect the United States.

"We have the technical capability to militarily do anything we want on North Korea right up to wiping it off the map and leveling its mountains," Peters said.

"If we must go to North Korea with our military force, we need to hammer them and give the world a lesson of what we can really do," Peters said.

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R., Calif.) confirmed that he has scheduled a vote in the House on new sanctions that will target North Korea's slave labor trade and its shipping industry, which plays a central role in ferrying illicit arms and technology to and from the country. North Korea is a major supplier of nuclear technology on the black market, particularly to Iran, which has mimicked Pyongyang's nuclear playbook.

McCarthy said that new sanctions are long overdue and can more easily win approval now that former President Barack Obama is out of office.

"This week, we will vote to increase sanctions on North Korea, targeting its shipping industry as well as those who employ North Korean slave labor abroad," the lawmaker said. "The last administration's long-practiced policy of strategic patience has made us less safe. We must increase the pressure on the Kim regime."

(Breitbart)  -  Ahead of Tuesday’s Wisconsin primary election, the closure of both the General Motors plant in Janesville, Wisconsin — Speaker Paul Ryan's hometown — as well as the recent closure of the Oscar Meyer plant in Madison, Wisconsin has put a spotlight on Paul Ryan’s long-standing support for trade globalism.

According to Politico’s Mike Allen, “Top Republicans are becoming increasingly vocal about their long-held belief that Speaker Paul Ryan will wind up as the nominee,” should the #NeverTrump club keep Donald Trump from receiving 1,237 delegates outright.

As Pat Caddell has explained, the GOP establishment is “using [Sen. Ted] Cruz as a cat’s-paw” as part of its effort “to stop Trump … They will then move to nominate, to try to nominate an establishment figure, someone who hasn’t run,” Caddell warns.

Paul Ryan has been one of Congress’s biggest proponents of globalist trade pacts that send American jobs overseas. Even though Republican voters by a nearly five-to-one margin believe so-called “free trade” deals lower American wages rather than raise them, Ryan was President Obama’s “partner” in pushing to fast track the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). In a 2015 op-ed co-authored with Sen. Cruz, Paul Ryan described the TPP as an “historic” trade agreement that would “mean greater access to a billion customers for American manufacturers, farmers and ranchers.”

According to the Economic Policy Institute, “Growth in the U.S. goods trade deficit with China between 2001 and 2013 eliminated or displaced 3.2 million U.S. jobs.”

The General Motors plant of Janesville, Wisconsin officially closed in the fall of last year after years of remaining idle. As Elliot Hughes at the Janesville GazetteXtra reported in March, “GM operated a plant in the city from 1919 to 2008, employing as many 7,000 people at its peak. From 2008 to 2015, it sat empty and unused on ‘standby’ status. The company announced last fall that it will officially close. Efforts to sell the 250-acre property began this winter.”

Three days before the 2012 Presidential election, Business Insider ran a story featuring photos of the deserted plant in a piece entitled, “Heartbreaking Photos Of The Shuttered GM Plant In Paul Ryan’s Wisconsin Hometown.” Interestingly, Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney not only lost the state of Wisconsin in the 2012 election, but they lost Paul Ryan’s hometown of Janesville by 25 points.

In November of 2015, Oscar Meyer announced that it was shutting down its headquarters in Madison, “wiping out hundreds of jobs at a company that has been a part of the community’s fabric since 1919,” wrote the Associated Press:

The company [Kraft Heinz Food Co.] plans to shed a total of 2,600 jobs. About 300 corporate workers in Madison will be offered jobs at the company’s co-headquarters in Chicago; the remaining 700 or so production workers here will lose their positions in three waves of layoffs over the next two years.

As Janesville resident, 38-year-old Joshua Nehls told AP, “It’s tragic. There were a lot of tears (when company officials announced the closure). A lot of people’s lives are here.” APnotes that Nehls “worked at the Madison facility for a decade; his current task is packing Lunchable snack packs.”

According to the report, Madison mayor Paul Soglin “tried to put a positive spin on the closure, noting the city has emerged from recession. But he said the economic impact would be ‘very significant.’ ‘These men and women have dedicated their lives to this company, and they and their families are of the utmost concern to me,’ Soglin said. ‘They are the heart and soul of the Northside.’”

(Detroit News)  -  Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Tuesday slammed Ford Motor Co.’s decision to build a $1.6 billion assembly plant in Mexico as an “absolute disgrace” that would not happen if he becomes president.

“Our dishonest politicians and the special interests that control them are laughing in the face of all American citizens,” Trump said in a statement on the day of the presidential primary in Wisconsin — a rust-belt state that, like Michigan, has lost manufacturing jobs. “These ridiculous, job-crushing transactions will not happen when I am president.”
Trump reacted hours after the Dearborn automaker confirmed plans to build small cars at a new plant in the Mexican state of San Luis Potosi. The announcement prompted a similar scathing reaction from the leader of the United Auto Workers union. (More)

(CNSNews.com) – The application form that San Bernardino terrorist Tashfeen Malik would have used to apply for her visa to enter the United States asks such questions as, “Do you seek to engage in terrorist activities while in the United States or have you ever engaged in terrorist activities?”

“Are you a member or representative of a terrorist organization,” asks another question, to which the Pakistani citizen would have been required to check a “yes” or “no” box.

“Have you ever or do you intend to provide financial assistance or other support to terrorists or terrorist organizations?” asks a third, along with similar questions relating to espionage, human trafficking, money laundering, prostitution and other offenses.

According to the State Department Malik, who with her U.S.-born husband Syed Farook killed 14 people in last Tuesday’s attack at a social services center in San Bernardino, entered the U.S. in July 2014 on a K-1 fiancé(e) visa.

President Obama said in his Oval Office address on Sunday night that he has ordered a review into the visa program which had allowed Malik to enter the U.S.

State Department spokesman John Kirby said Tuesday that Secretary of State John Kerry wants the review to be done “as aggressively and openly and transparently as possible.”

He said the Islamic State will not be defeated as long as Syrian President Bashar Assad “is still in power and Iran, his patron, has a base of operations in Damascus.”

“Therefore, we must do more to recruit and support fighters in Syria who oppose both ISIS and Assad,” he said.

Wake Up Call to Moron GOP Warmongers

Syria has been fighting against ISIS from day one of their civil war.  If you overthrow the Syrian government then their army that is fighting ISIS will dissolve just like Saddam Hussein's did in Iraq.  Then only Islamists would have troops in the field.

Iran has been helping Syria against ISIS because they believe in the same branch of Islam.  Let's add the Iran is also helping Iraq defend themselves from ISIS.

It should also be noted the weapons ISIS used to invade Iraq did not magically appear on a fine summer day.  ISIS and the other Islamist groups fighting Syria were armed by the CIA and our Islamist allies Turkey and Saudi Arabia.

Walker is either too stupid to know the facts or he is deliberately lying to voters.  Both answers say he is unqualified for the office of President.

Funny, the borders are still wide open.

To bottom line it, the open borders Republicans (and Democrats) are on the payroll of Billionaire Cartel Wall Street interests that want the nation flooded with tens of millions of legal and illegal immigrants in order to lower labor costs.

With the GOP in control there is nothing stopping them from sending Dear Leader an endless stream of bills ending immigration and protecting U.S. jobs.  But the Republicans have no interest in protecting any jobs but their own.  The plight of the American worker has no meaning to them.

The Donald is 100% correct.  If it was not for him no one in the GOP would be spewing anything more that brainless "secure the borders" slogans.  But even with The Donald screaming at the top of his lungs the "Conservative" Congress does nothing.

So this weekend when you see your favorite Republican on TV remember he and his party are liars.  They have no intention of closing the borders until enough immigrants have been imported to push wages down 80% to 3rd world levels.

And how would you feel if your replacement came from India, and the only reason your company was replacing you was because the foreign worker was a lot less expensive?  Sadly, this is happening all over America – especially in the information technology field.  Huge corporations such as Disney and Southern California Edison are coldly firing existing tech workers and filling those jobs with much cheaper foreign replacements. 

About 250 Disney employees were told in late October that they would be laid off. Many of their jobs were transferred to immigrants on temporary visas for highly skilled technical workers, who were brought in by an outsourcing firm based in India. Over the next three months, some Disney employees were required to train their replacements to do the jobs they had lost.

“I just couldn’t believe they could fly people in to sit at our desks and take over our jobs exactly,” said one former worker, an American in his 40s who remains unemployed since his last day at Disney on Jan. 30. “It was so humiliating to train somebody else to take over your job. I still can’t grasp it.”

I find it rather entertaining to watch social Conservatives as they soil their pants on live TV over the Supreme Court ruling allowing Gays to be married.

Really, where was the outrage when the GOP, the Dems and Dear Leader teamed up to send millions of middle class jobs overseas?

No, real outrage appears to be restricted to who is sleeping with whom.

Sorry I can't get worked up about Gays out there somewhere getting married.  There are real issues to care about.

If the religious Conservatives are right then the Gays will go to Hell.  If they are wrong Gays will be welcome in Heaven.  It is not my call.  I will leave that final decision to a much higher authority.

The Supreme Court acted properly.  If a person is legally married in one state and moves to another state he has the right to have his legal marriage certificate recognized in his new state.  This is not rocket science and certainly nothing to froth up about.

In a week this "burning" issue will fade.  In a month it will be forgotten.  In a year no one will really care.

The sun will come up and the world will go on.

Feds Consider Puerto Ricans Disabled Because They Speak Spanish

(Washington Free Beacon)  -  The Social Security Administration (SSA) approved disability benefits for hundreds of Puerto Ricans because they do not speak English, despite the fact that Puerto Rico is a predominantly Spanish-speaking territory.

According to a new audit by the Office of Inspector General (OIG), the agency is misapplying rules that are intended to provide financial assistance to individuals who are illiterate or cannot speak English in the United States. Under the rules, Puerto Ricans are allowed to receive disability benefits for their inability to speak English as well.

“We found the Agency did not make exceptions regarding the English-language grid rules for claimants who reside in Puerto Rico, even though Spanish is the predominant language spoken in the local economy,” the OIG said.

The audit said a person applying for disability in Puerto Rico who cannot speak English “may increase his/her likelihood of receiving disability benefits.”

The agency does not currently have a system in place to keep track of the number of beneficiaries who receive disability insurance for not being able to speak English.

However, the OIG was able to identify 218 cases between 2011 and 2013 where Puerto Ricans were awarded disability due to “an inability to communicate in English.” Furthermore, 4 percent of disability hearings in Puerto Rico involved looking at the individual’s ability to speak, read, write, and understand English.

Though 95 percent of Puerto Ricans speak Spanish at home, according to the rules a Spanish-speaking nurse in Puerto Rico would be considered “unskilled,” the OIG said.
