PBS Gets $75 Million, Michelle Obama Given PBS Show

Corruptus in Extremis

(Gateway Pundit)  -  Former First Lady Michelle Obama has been given a show by PBS starting next week, the taxpayer funded network announced Friday.

The timing of the announcement comes after Democrats marked $75 million for PBS’s parent the Corporation for Public Broadcasting in the coronavirus relief bill that passed at the end of March.

Newsbusters reported the $75 million is on top of the $465 million given CPB in the current year’s federal budget, which is an increase of $20 million over the previous year. Local PBS and NPR stations receive funding from CBP as well as donations from the public, businesses and charitable foundations.

Obama will be hosting a weekly children’s show for the next four weeks, reading books to kids who are being kept at home while schools are closed due to pandemic stay at home orders.

Federal Spending Explodes at Nearly $300,000 Per Household

"Paper money eventually returns to its intrinsic value -- zero."
Voltaire

(Daily Signal)  -  Amid the drama surrounding impeachment, both parties came together on one area of shared support: spending enormous amounts of taxpayer dollars and adding to the $23.1 trillion national debt.

Congress had little time to properly review fiscal 2020 spending bills, which weighed in at more than 2,000 pages of clunky text.

The legislation contained a multitude of flaws, including lobbyist-driven handouts and a private-pension bailout that could open the door for even larger bailouts down the line.

This is a business-as-usual conclusion to an irresponsible decade. The degree to which Washington has been reckless with the nation’s finances is hard to comprehend.

Since 2010, the federal government has spent $293,750 per household.

Marc Antony as Triumvir (43-31 BC)
.
The Roman Republic of Marc Antony died 2,000 years ago.  While American paper money becomes more and more worthless, Roman Republic gold coins have held their value to this day.  Maybe our hack politicians could learn a thing or two from Rome on money.

Federal spending started the decade at an artificially high level due to the 2009
“economic-stimulus” package. There was a slight dip after the stimulus ended, and
the tea party wave ushered in a brief period of restraint in Congress. Sadly, this flicker
of responsibility was short-lived.

federal spending totaled $37.6 trillion from 2010 through 2019. Spread across 128 million
households (per the Census Bureau), that yields $293,750 in spending for every household.

In fiscal 2019, which ended Sept. 30, the federal government doled out $4.45 trillion.
The full scope of that much money is virtually impossible for the human mind to grasp.
One way to understand the sheer enormity is by comparing it to the size of state economies.

To match the amount that the federal government spent in fiscal 2019, one would need to
add the total economic output of Alabama, Arizona, Connecticut, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky,
Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee,
Utah, and Wisconsin.

We should treat the notion that this level of federal activity is too small with deep skepticism.

Spending per household is up 47% since 2000. The federal government spent $34,700
per household in 2019, which is serious money no matter what part of the country you live in.

Is nearly $35,000 per household too much spending? To put it in context, we can go back
to the last time the economy had a surging stock market and unemployment under 4%, the year 2000.

Back then, federal spending was about $2.49 trillion after adjusting for inflation. Divided by the number of households in 2000, the government spent just $23,600 per household in
today’s dollars.

That means that the spending increase from 2000 to now is a staggering 47% per household,
even after controlling for inflation. In real terms, the federal government is nearly
half-again larger than it was less than two decades ago.

The budget would balance today if spending had grown more modestly.

With the federal government growing so quickly, it should come as no surprise that
this year’s deficit likely will exceed $1 trillion, even if the economy remains strong.

Swamp Dwelling Republicans are Idiots

Swamp Republicans
Want To Lose in 2020
GOP pushes to throw the disabled off Social Security

By Gary:

The GOP specializes in trying to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

In 2018 the Republicans were handed the Golden Ticket of all Golden Tickets as a campaign issue:  the opportunity to defend internet freedom of speech against Democrat Leftist multi-national corporations.

Instead the GOP tossed the issue away and remained silent as Conservatives were being openly raped by the Left.

Now the GOP has found a new way to lose an election:  throwing the disabled off Social Security.

The Warmonger GOP has no problem driving the nation trillions into debt to level countries in unconstitutional wars. But heaven forbid a few bucks is being spent to help the disabled.

2020 GOP Slogan:
Vote Republican - We throw cripples off Social Security.

Fuck, now that will draw voters to the polls.

We have been trying to get my disabled son his benefits for five years only to be turned down over and over and over. Come January there will be yet another hearing.

The point is the disability program is very hard to get on. But it is typical of the dip shit swamp Republicans to target a program almost all ordinary voters would support.

Give up fighting for just one second and the corrupt Oligarchs in the swamp will suck you down.

(Chicago Tribune)  -  The Trump administration is proposing changes to Social Security that could terminate disability payments to hundreds of thousands of Americans, particularly older people and children.

The new rule would change aspects of disability reviews the methods by which the Social Security Administration determines whether a person continues to qualify for benefits. Few recipients are aware of the proposal, which is open for public comment through January.

Social Security officials declined to comment. For years, Republicans have argued that Social Security benefits need to be reined in to save money.

Typically, Americans who are too physically and/or mentally impaired to work may be eligible for one of two kinds of benefits: Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI).

While SSDI is for people who have worked at least 10 years, SSI is for low-income recipients who have seldom, if ever, been employed.

More than 16 million Americans receive either SSDI (8.5 million) or SSI (8 million). SSI benefits can run to $770 a month; SSDI payments, which are based on lifetime earnings, can range from $800 to $1,800 monthly, government figures show.

Merely getting benefits is an extraordinarily difficult task, often taking years and requiring applicants to compile reams of documents, then state and restate their cases in front of hearing officers, adjudicators, and judges.

Navy to squander money on World War I technology

The Chinese YJ-18 missile can cruise at about 600 miles an hour, or just under the speed of sound, only a few meters above the surface of the sea and then, about 20 nautical miles from its target, accelerate to as much as three times the speed of sound.  But we keep spending billions on sitting duck surface ships.

The Surface Navy is Dead
  • World War II was little more than World War I plus aircraft carriers.  By the end of WWII the surface navy was basically dead.
  • Our modern navy surface ships are pretty much only useful for rescuing people at sea or bullying crap-hole third world nations that cannot defend themselves. In a real war with a modern military power our ships are little more than expensive sitting ducks for high tech missile target practice.
  • But sitting ducks or not, that never stopped the Military Industrial Complex from spending and spending and spending.

The U.S. Navy is planning a substantial expansion of its destroyer fleet in an effort to improve its ability to conduct major maritime warfare operations.

The Navy is hoping to increase its overall battle force inventory to 355 vessels within the next 15 years, according to information Lt. Cmdr. Kevin Chambers shared with Warrior Maven.

Specifically, the Navy wants to add up to 30 new destroyers, 15 littoral combat ships, 18 new frigates and 32 attack submarines.

Of the planned destroyers, 22 are slated to be DDG 51 Flight III and eight for DDG 51 Flight IIA.

Kamikaze Attacks

By the end of World War II is was obvious that the surface navy was dead when face to face with any real military power.

Kamikaze + Aircraft Carrier = Sunk
kk
A total of 57 ships were sunk by Japanese kamikazes including 3 aircraft carriers and 14 destroyers.  Some 368 other ships were damaged.  About 4,900 sailors were killed and over 4,800 wounded.
kk
All this was done with ancient World War II era technology.  But for some insane reason we continue to build super expensive WWII style carriers and destroyers in an age of ultra powerful high-tech missiles.

Ka Boom Target ship hit by two P-270 Moskit (NATO: SS-N-22 Sunburn) anti-ship missiles during Russian Navy Pacific Fleet exercises. k Take a guess how long any surface ships from any navy would last in any real war.

Taxpayer funded Steak & Lobster for Government Workers

Lobster For Bureaucrats
Both big government loving parties allow
this shit to go on for decades on end.

(Free Beacon)  -  Federal agencies billed taxpayers millions for lobster tail, alcohol, standing desks, golf carts, and more frivolous expenditures before budgets ran out at the end of the fiscal year.
A new analysis released by OpenTheBooks.com found 66 agencies spent $97 billion last September, the final month of fiscal year 2018. The end of the year taxpayer-funded spending spree included contracts with Coors, millions on iPhones, furniture, and CrossFit equipment.
"In the final month of the fiscal year, federal agencies scramble to spend what's left in their annual budget," OpenTheBooks.com said. "Agencies worry spending less than their budget allows might prompt Congress to appropriate less money in the next fiscal year. To avoid this, federal agencies choose to embark on an annual shopping spree rather than admit they can operate on less."
Resulting government expenditures included $4.6 million on lobster tail and crab; $673,471 on golf carts; $1.7 million on pianos, tubas, and trombones; $9.8 million on workout and recreation equipment; and $7.7 million iPhones and iPads.

A Wexford Leather club chair cost taxpayers $9,241. The government spent $293,245 on rib eye, top sirloin, and flank steak.
Before budgets ran out national security agencies, including the Department of Defense, Department of State, and Department of Homeland Security spent $412,008 on paint and artist's brushes.
The federal government spent $2.1 million on games, toys, and wheeled goods, $490.6 million on furniture, and $62.1 million on household furnishings. Bureaucrats spent $1.1 million on standing desks, as well as $2.7 million on ergonomic chairs, $643,833 on sofas, and $40,379 on clocks.
The government's PR budget also did not suffer, as agencies spent $462 million on public relations and marketing in the final month of the fiscal year.
Agencies spent $402 million on food, including the Pentagon, which spent $2.3 million on snow crab, Alaskan king crab, and crab legs, and $2.3 million on lobster tail. The Pentagon and Department of State spent $308,994 on alcohol, including a $76,173 contract with Coors Brewing Company.

The total $97 billion spent in September 2018 amounts to a 16 percent increase from the previous year. Similarly, last year's end of the budget spending binge included millions spent on cars, scooters, fidget spinners, and shuffleboards.
More than half of the spending came during the final week before budgets ran out.

GOP Funds Making ‘Humanized Mice’ With Aborted Baby Parts

If we are going to do this then I want my
genetically engineered flying monkey!

Politicians Are Playing God

  • This is what GOP "Conservatives" inside the Trump Administration give us. Just imagine what will happen when the Left takes power.

(CNSNews.com) - The Department of Health and Human Services says it has granted a second 90-day extension to a contract it has with the University of California at San Francisco that requires UCSF to make “humanized mice.”
These creatures are made by implanting mice with human tissues taken from late-term aborted babies.
The HHS's multi-million-dollar contract with UCSF that requires the construction of these “humanized mice” creates a demand--driven by federal tax dollars--for tissue taken from late-term aborted babies. According to an estimate it has published on its website, the National Institutes of Health (which is a division of HHS) will spend $95 million this fiscal year alone on research that--like UCSF's "humanized mouse" contract--uses human fetal tissue.
Under the new 90-day extension, the contract—which the government calls “Humanized Mouse Models for HIV Therapeutics Development”--will run through June 5.

Feds spend $1.5 million studying sleeping Mexican Americans

WTF

  • Thank God the "Conservative" GOP Congress had total control of spending for years. Imagine the insanity now that Democrats control the House.

(Washington Free Beacon)  -  The National Institutes of Health is spending roughly $1.5 million on a study of the sleep habits of Mexican Americans living along the U.S. border.
The "border health" study began last year and is being conducted by the University of Arizona.
The study is recruiting 1,100 people in the tiny border town of Nogales, Ariz., to see how well they sleep. Researchers claim Mexican Americans do not sleep as well as their peers, blaming "social" factors at the border.
"Disparities in sleep health in racial/ethnic minorities exist, including Mexican Americans. In particular, social-environmental factors at the U.S.-Mexico border may play an important role in sleep health disparities," according to the grant for the study.
The project aims to help Mexican Americans sleep "through a community partnership."

"This project will not only allow for increased understanding of the complex relationship among sleep, health, and social-environmental pressures, but through a community partnership it can maximize our ability to reduce these disparities," the grant states. "Also, this project has the added benefit of providing information about the role of sleep as a potentially modifiable factor in cardiovascular disease and diabetes disparities as well."
Researchers will study how long this population sleeps, as well as their rates of sleep apnea and insomnia, which they believe are caused by "social-behavioral factors."
Researchers hypothesize assimilation could be causing Mexican Americans to lose sleep, according to the grant.
"Second, this study aims to examine the role of sleep and cardiometabolic disease risk in this population and explore the role of acculturation, psychosocial stress, economic hardship, and/or unhealthy behaviors in these associations," the grant states.
The project has received $1,489,703 from taxpayers so far. Research will continue through November 2022
Taxpayers are also funding a $333,210 study of bars along the U.S.-Mexico border, bringing the total tab to $1.8 million for federal assessments of sleep and the amount of dancing at clubs along the Southern border.

GOP House Increased Debt $7.9 Trillion

The "Republican" Party Does Not Exist

  • The "Conservative" GOP died long, long ago. Republicans in Congress are really Radical New Deal Leftists who never met a big government program they did not want to protect, fully fund or expand.
  • The corpse of GOP "Conservatism" still twitches at times with the occasional tax cut. But the party has to be dragged to the Conservative promised land by outsiders like Ronald Reagan and Donald Trump.
  • Left in their "natural state" the GOP reverts to their love affair with Big Government.

(CNS News)  -  The recently deposed Republican majority increased the federal debt by $7.9 trillion in the eight years it controlled the House of Representatives.
At the close of business on Jan. 4, 2011, the day before the Republicans took control of the House, the debt was $14,014,049,043,294.41, according to the Treasury.
On Jan. 3, 2019, the last day before the Republicans turned control of the House back to the Democrats, the debt closed at $21,929,258,046,653.58.
So, under the Republican House majorities in four Congresses, the debt climbed $7,915,209,003,359.17.
That works out to approximately $989,401,125,420 per year, or $2,710,688,015 per day, or $112,945,334 per hour, or $1,882,422 per minute.

In fact, under the Republican-controlled House, the federal debt increased at an average rate of $31,374 per second.
Some Republicans may claim they should not be blamed for the massive increase in the federal debt during the eight years they controlled the House. They may say: "For four of those eight years, the Democrats controlled the Senate." Or: "For six of those eight years, Barack Obama was president."
But the Constitution says, "No Money shall be drawn from the Treasury, but in Consequence of Appropriations made by Law."
And no law may be enacted unless it passes the House.
A Republican-majority House approved every one of the federal spending laws enacted over the past eight years.
Not only that, but all of the spending laws enacted since Jan. 20, 2017, when President Donald Trump was inaugurated, have been approved by a Republican-majority House, a Republican-majority Senate and a Republican president.
How did Republicans do in controlling the debt during that limited time when they held all three elected branches of the federal government?
The Republicans controlled the House, Senate and White House for a span of 714 days, which equals 102 weeks — or just two weeks short of two full years.

At the close of business on Jan. 19, 2017, the day before Trump was inaugurated, the debt was $19,944,429,217,106.77. And again, at the close of business on Jan. 3, 2019, the last day the Republicans controlled the House, the debt was $21,929,258,046,653.58. During that 102-week Republican reign, the debt climbed $1,984,828,829,546.81.
That means that under the all-Republican government, the debt rose approximately $19,459,106,172 per week, or $2,779,872,310 per day, or $115,828,013 per hour, or $1,930,467 per minute, or $32,174 per second.
That $32,714-per-second increase in the debt under the all-Republican government that reigned from Trump's inauguration until last week exceeds the $31,374-per-second increase in the debt the nation saw over the entire eight-year span of the Republican-majority House.
Some liberal critics of the Republicans might argue that the reason the debt increased so rapidly when the Republicans controlled the House is not because Congress spent too much but because it taxed too little.
They would be wrong.
In fiscal 2011, the year the Republican majority took control of the House, the federal government collected $2,561,779,260,000 in total taxes (in constant September 2018 dollars). In fiscal 2018, the last full fiscal year when the Republicans controlled the House, the federal government collected $3,328,745,000,000 (in constant September 2018 dollars).
Under the Republican-majority House, real federal tax revenues increased by $766,965,740,000 — or 29.9 percent.
Individual income taxes alone hit $1,683,537,000,000 in fiscal 2018 — an all-time record for the United States.
Yet even though real federal tax revenues climbed by 29.9 percent over the last eight fiscal years, and even though individual income taxes hit a record high, the government did not collect enough in taxes to pay for the government's spending.
The federal debt did not climb by nearly a trillion dollars a year under a Republican-controlled House because the government did not tax enough. It climbed because the government spent too much.

Trump HUD Funds Obama Plan to Revamp Slums, La Raza Group Gets Millions

A Crazy Blogger like me might think there is little difference between the parties.

The Trump administration has dedicated another big chunk of taxpayer money to a controversial Obama housing project and the latest allocation gives millions to a leftwing group that advocates open borders, organizes pro-illegal immigrant marches across the country and promotes a radical Chicano curriculum in publicly-funded charter schools nationwide. Known as Choice Neighborhoods, the program aims to transform slums into desirable middle-class neighborhoods.

The costly experiment was the centerpiece of a broader Obama initiative to convert poverty-stricken neighborhoods into sustainable, mixed-income areas with affordable housing, safe streets and good schools. It was launched as a collaboration between the departments of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Education, Justice, Treasury and Health and Human Services (HHS) to help attract private investment necessary to transform distressed areas.

During Obama’s tenure Choice Neighborhoods received a breathtaking $375 million, according to HUD figures. A substantial portion—$120 million—was rewarded as a parting gift in 2016, the HUD numbers reveal and the largest chunk—$122.27 million—was allocated in 2010 when Obama launched the program.

Like many of the former president’s initiatives, large sums of cash went to leftist nonprofits and community groups that aligned with his liberal agenda. Back in 2012 Judicial Watch reported that the administration paid half a million dollars to study the effectiveness of Choice Neighborhoods, including the challenges of bringing healthy food options to poor areas and the characteristics of the neighborhoods being targeted for transformation.

Instead of cutting back on these dubious programs that give huge sums of taxpayer dollars to leftist groups, the Trump administration keeps filling their coffers. This month HUD announced more than $60 million in grants for Choice Neighborhoods and other housing counseling grants.

Among the recipients is the National Council of La Raza (NCLR), which recently changed its name to UNIDOS US. The renowned open borders group that specializes in promoting the Mexican La Raza (“the race”) agenda is getting approximately $2.6 million, according to government records.

Other likeminded groups getting cash include the Refugee Family Assistance Program ($32,000) and the Center for New York City Neighborhoods ($16,000), which lists the Mutual Housing Association of New York (an Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now—ACORN—offshoot) as a partner. The center’s board chair, Herbert Sturz, is a senior advisor to the Open Society Foundations (OSF), the deeply politicized groups billionaire George Soros uses to promote his radical leftist agenda worldwide. Read all about it in a Judicial Watch investigative report.

$89.7 Million Spent Finding Jobs for 55 Afghan Women

Retard Alert
Pissing your tax dollars down the Afghan rat hole

  • Thank God the "Conservative" GOP is in charge of spending. Just imagine the mountains of retarded shit the Democrats would fund.

(Washington Free Beacon)  -  A federal government program to promote gender equality in Afghanistan and help women find employment is costing taxpayers over $200 million but has only found jobs for 55 women.
The United States Agency for International Development program promised to "empower 75,000 women" but so far has shown little progress, according to a new report released by the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR).
"It is unclear whether the agency can deliver the opportunities it promised the women of Afghanistan," the inspector general said.
The USAID program, Promoting Gender Equity in National Priority Programs, or Promote, is a five-year $216 million effort. USAID has spent $89.7 million in three years but "has not demonstrated whether the program has made progress" toward its goals.
Promote is USAID's "largest single investment to advance women globally" and was tasked with helping over 2,000 Afghan women find jobs. The program has reached 2.6 percent of its goal.
"An end-of-program performance indicator target for one component is for 2,100 women to find new or better employment with the Afghan government," the inspector general said. "As of September 2017, USAID said 55 women did."
