Robots to take 50% of jobs - Welcome to riots and poverty

Say Good-Bye to Employment

  • In the brave new world of robotics, outsourcing and the endless importation of new workers you will see a massive increase in American poverty, a growing permanent jobless class and the rise of violence.
  • The political hacks in both parties have no clue about the economic clusterfuck that is coming.  As robots replace workers the consumer economy will permanently crash because no one will have jobs to buy products and services.

50% of all jobs to be abolished

BERLIN  -  Recent reports suggest that robots, not immigrants, may pose the greatest threat to German workers — though the European Union has placed a $4 billion bet that robots will create rather than eliminate jobs.

The new wave of automation will hit white-collar workers hardest, according to Jeremy Bowles, a researcher at the Brussels-based Bruegel Institute.

"What's fundamentally different is that (these advances) have the ability to affect a broader set of workers," Bowles said, comparing the next generation of computerization to the first wave of robots that hit assembly line jobs in the 1980s.

The impact of these innovations will vary across Europe, Bowles argues. But in Germany, as in the U.S., robots may soon take as many as half the existing jobs, according to the Bruegel Institute's analysis of the labor market.

These white-collar robots will be more software than hardware, eliminating service industry jobs in the way ATMs and automated telephone systems have already done. But — as the hostile reaction from German unions to other business models (think Amazon and Uber) has shown — bytes can be more revolutionary than bolts.

Where will all the workers go?

For the developed countries, this may seem like old news. After all, for the last 30 years, the manufacturing base in Asia's emerging economies has been displacing that of the old industrial powers of Western Europe and North America. But there is no guarantee that gains in service-sector employment will continue to offset the resulting job losses in industry.
For starters, technology is making even many service jobs tradable, enabling them to be offshored to Asia and other emerging markets. And, eventually, technology will replace manufacturing and service jobs in emerging markets as well.
Today, for example, a patient in New York may have his MRI sent digitally to, say, Bangalore, where a highly skilled radiologist reads it for one-quarter of what a New York-based radiologist would cost. But how long will it be before a computer software can read those images faster, better, and cheaper than the radiologist in Bangalore can?
Likewise, in the next decade, Foxconn, which produces iPhones and other consumer electronics, plans to replace much of its Chinese workforce of more than 1.2 million with robots. And soon enough voice recognition software will replace the call centers of Bangalore and Manila.
Job-reducing technological innovations will affect education, health care, government, and even transportation. For example, will we still need so many teachers in the decades to come if the cream of the profession can produce increasingly sophisticated online courses that millions of students can take? If not, how will all of those former teachers earn a living?

Welcome to the Future
The few humans left with jobs will buy products.
Everyone else will steal anything not nailed down.

Apple supplier to shrink workforce

SHENZHEN, China (Reuters) - Taiwan's Foxconn Technology Group, the world's largest contract electronics manufacturer, will cut its massive workforce, the company told Reuters, as the Apple Inc supplier faces declining revenue growth and rising wages in China.
Under its flagship unit Hon Hai Precision Industry Co Ltd, the group currently employs about 1.3 million people during peak production times, making it one of the largest private employers in the world.
Growth in smartphone sales will halve this year from 26 percent in 2014, according to researcher IDC, while PC sales will contract by 3 percent.
Similarly, the average smartphone will sell for 19 percent less in 2018 than last year's $297.
"Even if technology is improving, the price will still come down," Woo said. "We've come to accept that, our customers have come to accept that."
Automation will be key to keeping labor costs under control in the long-term, Woo said, as the company pushes to have robotic arms complete mundane tasks currently done by workers.
But Woo noted that company chairman Terry Gou's previously stated goal of 1 million robots was "a generic concept" rather than a firm target.

Workers Fear The Robot Revolution

The threat of smart machines to jobs is becoming more recognized as the economy gradually improves but hiring still lags stubbornly behind. During the long recession, businesses have adopted strategies emphasizing “efficiency” which means more computers, automation and robots.

The good news is that some production is moving back to the United States from abroad, but far fewer workers are being hired than in earlier times due to smart machines performing complex tasks.
In fact, some factories are practically human free.
But even thoughtful analysts fail to connect the immigration dots with the automated future. Does America or any first-world nation need immigrants to do the jobs when the machine revolution is hard upon us? Big-immigration advocates like Paul Ryan insist that more foreigners are needed to replace the millions of retiring boomers, but automation changes that calculus completely.
One analytical company predicts that one-third of jobs will be performed by robots just 10 years from now, and that trend goes beyond manufacturing to cognitive tasks like financial analysis and medical diagnostics. A 2013 report from Oxford University researchers estimated that “nearly half of U.S. jobs are vulnerable to computerization.”
The future of employment looks dire, but the present is already bad enough. Jobless teens are finding a grim outlook to find entry-level work. The percentage among adults of workforce participation continues to shrink.
Bill Gates has observed that the public isn’t mentally prepared for the future where “labor demand for lots of skill sets will be substantially lower.” No surprise there — no leaders in any field are discussing the coming economic and social transformation.

Welcome to Eternal Poverty
Imagine the grim new world of robotics where there is never, ever a chance of having a job. Where there is no way at all of improving your life.

You exist on what the government loads into your EBT card on the first of the month.  When the card runs dry you join the dumpster drivers and dig for cans to recycle.

NYPD to carry machine guns to control protests

Notes From The Police State
To protect and to serve who?

(Gothamist)  -  Murders reached a historic low in NYC for 2014; overall crime was down across the board by nearly 5%; hell, even the holiday slowdown didn't really lead to any additional crime. So clearly, now is the time when NYC really needs to implement a new anti-terrorism program which would empower a team of NYPD officers to roam around the city carrying machine guns. What could go wrong?
Police Commissioner Bratton made the announcement earlier today at an event hosted by the Police Foundation at the Mandarin Oriental. He said that the new 350 cop unit, called The Strategic Response Group, will be dedicated to "disorder control and counterterrorism protection capabilities" against attacks like the hostage situation in Sydney, which the NYPD's Deputy Commissioner of Intelligence John Miller said was an inevitability in NYC.
This new squad will be used to investigate and combat terrorist plots, lone wolf terrorists, and... protests. "It is designed for dealing with events like our recent protests, or incidents like Mumbai or what just happened in Paris," Bratton said, according to CBS.
"They’ll be equipped and trained in ways that our normal patrol officers are not," Bratton explained. "They’ll be equipped with all the extra heavy protective gear, with the long rifles and machine guns — unfortunately sometimes necessary in these instances." Capital NY adds that these officers will also be used "to assist on crime scenes, and help with crowd control and other large-scale events."
The pilot program will start in two precincts in Manhattan and two in Queens, though it's unclear when they want to launch it. Bratton said Mayor de Blasio was on board, and he expected the City Council to be as well.
Already, local advocacy groups have spoken out against the plan; Priscilla Gonzalez, Organizing Director of Communities United for Police Reform, gave this statement.
Initial reports of Commissioner Bratton's plans suggest the opposite of progress. His demands for less oversight of the NYPD and a more militarized police force that would use counter-terrorism tactics against protestors are deeply misguided and frankly offensive.

Democrats escort reporters to the toilet

Dems Frightened of Freedom

(Politico)  -  Reporters covering the House Democrats' retreat in Philadelphia this week are having a much different experience than when they’re on their home turf on Capitol Hill.

Reporters are being escorted to and from the restroom and lobby and are being barred from entering the hotel outside of scheduled events, even if they've been invited by a member of Congress.

During Vice President Joe Biden’s remarks at the retreat Friday, reporters were required to have a staff member, usually a junior member of the press team, escort them when going to the bathroom or to the lobby. The filing center for reporters was at a separate hotel from where the retreat was taking place, so access was limited to members of Congress specifically made available to the press.

“It was a police state. It was absurd how heavy handed the capitol police and Democratic staff were in trying to control everywhere the press went,” New York Times reporter Jeremy Peters said in an interview.

Peters said at one point he was also barred from entering the hotel where the retreat was taking place, despite the fact he had an invitation to eat breakfast with a member of Congress.

“I was an invited guest into this hotel, into the restaurant of the hotel. The staff from the Democratic caucus refused to let me into the hotel, and the Capitol Police told me to leave, even after the congressman went to them and said 'no, he is my invited guest,'" Peters said.

Peters said he was told by a staffer they were being escorted to prevent them from talking to members of Congress.

China's Worst Nightmare? Japan May Sell India Six Stealth Submarines

Everyone is Watching China

For years China has excelled at antagonizing Japan. Now Tokyo may have the chance to extract some revenge.
According to Indian news outlets, the Narendra Modi government has approached Japan about building it six stealth submarines.
“New Delhi has forwarded ‘a proposal’ to Tokyo to ‘consider the possibility’ of making its latest diesel-electric Soryu-class submarines in India,” Times of India reported on Thursday, citing unnamed sources.
New Delhi’s Project-75-India to acquire six advanced diesel-electric submarines will be worth more than Rs 50,000 crore ($8 billion), and likely much more. France’s DCNS, Germany’s HDW, Russia’s Rosoboronexport and Spain’s Navantia are all expected to compete for the contract. Since the submarines will be built in India, foreign companies that wish to compete for the contract are expected to form a joint venture with an Indian shipyard.
India’s proposal comes at a time when New Delhi and Tokyo have been steadily strengthening ties under the leadership of Modi and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. Modi and Abe, both nationalistic leaders seeking to expand their respective countries’ regional profiles, are seen as enjoying a close relationship, which could help Tokyo’s chances in the competition. That being said, France, Germany and Russia have all built submarines for India in the past, TOI noted.
The proposal also comes at a time when Japan is seeking to break into the global arms market following the lifting of a decades-old, self-imposed ban on selling weaponry abroad. Since the ban was rescinded, Japan has already discussed selling India ShinMaywa US-2i sea-and-rescue amphibious planes.

Police Manhunt for man who said "mean" things about Islam

An Orwellian Thought Crime
George Orwell knew his own people
well and set 1984 in Britain.

London Police wish to speak to a man after derogatory comments about Islam were made on a bus.
The incident, described as a public order offence by police, allegedly happened on the 576 Halifax to Bradford bus, between 10pm and 10.20pm on Thursday, January 8.
The man is said to have got on the bus and sat directly behind an Asian man, before muttering his comments.
The suspect is described as white, aged 40 to 50, about 5ft 8ins tall, and was wearing a black woolly hat and black jacket that may have had a bit of red on it.

"The thought police would get him just the same. He had committed--would have committed, even if he had never set pen to paper--the essential crime that contained all others in itself. Thoughtcrime, they called it. Thoughtcrime was not a thing that could be concealed forever. You might dodge successfully for a while, even for years, but sooner or later they were bound to get you."

"Terminators" to train U.S. Marines

Accept Your Robot Overlords
Inch by inch the morons in charge of our government are putting robots in control of warfare. What could possibly go wrong?

The U.S. Navy has unveiled new plans to employ robots to train marine forces in the future. The Office of Naval Research (ONR) on Tuesday launched a new experiment that it hopes will help create robots and other human surrogates for military training purposes.

The New Google Terminator

As part of the study, being carried out at the University of Central Florida, the researchers have placed a human surrogate, which will greet and interact with people passing through the lobby of the university's Institute for Simulation and Training. The study with the robot, which will be controlled by a human operator in another location, will continue for several weeks.

“Marine Corps training concepts continue to merge virtual and live components to create the most realistic, effective and affordable training for Marines,” Peter Squire, a program officer for ONR, said in a statement. “The way people react to and interact with the different surrogates in this study is crucial to understanding how we can improve our military training systems.”

According to the Navy, the study’s results will be used by researchers to demonstrate the use of surrogates in more complex situations that will require a greater amount of human-machine interaction.

Officials said the experiment is part of ONR's Human Surrogate Interaction program, which will focus on how humans interact with virtual, physical and other types of surrogates. The findings are also expected to help determine how best to use robots to train infantry and other forces in the U.S. Marine Corps at a state-of-the-art military training facility at Camp Pendleton in California.

Another objective of the new ONR study is the development of a system called “Avatar Mediated Interactive Training and Individualized Experience System” (AMITIES), which enables actors to “inhabit” and control various types of robots reports the International Business Times.

According to the researchers, AMITIES combines voice modulation, artificial intelligence, network protocols and human control that can pave the way for new military training possibilities. “If human role players are not available because of cost or other reasons, this research will help us understand the type of surrogate to replace them with so that the level of training is not diminished,” Squire said in the statement.

Robot Soldiers
Yes, we are that fucking stupid.

Every aspect of society is being taken over by robots, computers and an Internet run "automatically" by an ever growing artificial intelligence.

Have any of these idiot scientists and generals ever seen a Sci Fi film . . . or maybe they have and they are using books and movies as their guide to slowly take over society from humans.

Obama Spokes-hole: "Taliban Are Not Terrorists"

Suicide bombing in Afghanistan

Idiot Alert!
  • I know everyone is going to carry this story, but my God, this guy is a fucking idiot and should be fired and our Dear Leader should resign.

They act like terrorists, they regularly kill civilians like terrorists, but the White House does not consider the Afghan Taliban to be a terrorist group.
“They do carry out tactics that are akin to terrorism. They do pursue terror attacks in an effort to try to advance their agenda,” White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest explained today, but “they have a different classification.”
Semantics aside, the Taliban is suspected in multiple attacks over just the last 48 hours that have killed more than 30 people, including a suicide bombing attack on a funeral in Afghanistan today that killed 16 and wounded 39 reports ABC News.
Even so, the White House does not call the Afghan Taliban a terrorist organization, Earnest explained, because they are “different than an organization like al Qaeda that has a much broader global aspiration to carry out acts of violence and acts of terror against Americans and American interests all around the globe.”
And even as Earnest was explaining why the Taliban are not terrorists, he slipped, calling them ... “terrorists.”
“We have not ruled out that there would be some situations in which U.S. service members would still carry out operations in self-defense against the Taliban or other terrorists who are operating in Afghanistan,” Earnest said.

German Leader: "No more Muslim immigration"

Election Freedom
  • In Germany a new party is standing against endless immigration and is electing their candidates to office.
  • Meanwhile back in the USA, at every opportunity the "Conservative" GOP drops their pants and bends over for their open borders Masters on Wall Street.

The deputy leader of right-wing populist party Alternative for Germany (AfD) said on Wednesday that all migration from Arab countries should be stopped.

"We should no longer support immigration by people who are totally foreign to our cultural tradition, in fact we ought to block it," Alexander Gauland told Berlin's Tagesspiegel newspaper.
"There are cultural traditions that have a very hard time integrating here ... those cultural traditions are at home in the Middle East," Gauland said.
Alexander Gauland
He added that there was a danger of "parallel societies" developing in Germany "with which we won't be able to cope with in the end," reports The Local.
And he continued his push to bring AfD closer to anti-Islam movement Pegida by describing it as a “people's movement” comparable with the early anti-nuclear demonstrations that helped launch the Green party.
The majority of Pegida participants were not racists, but “completely normal people," he said.
Gauland, a 73-year-old from Saxony, is seen as the voice of the growing nationalist-conservative wing of AfD, which originally began as a movement almost exclusively campaigning against the Euro single currency.
He believes that mainstream centre-right party the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) will soon find itself in difficulty over Chancellor Angela Merkel's declaration that “Islam belongs to Germany” - and that his party will be there to pick up its lost voters.
“The Chancellor's words were deadly for ordinary CDU members”, Gauland said.

The Sons of Liberty

A Home Run For The History Channel

By Gary;

Yes!  At last an outlet for my hatred of the British monarchy and Imperialism.

The History Channel's three night Sons of Liberty was a near total success for me.  What was there not to like? British flags being burned, Redcoats shot and the Tea Party.

Like any movie based on historical events the writers and directors have to adjust the story telling for the allowed time, budget and drama.  Most dialog in these films is a fabrication.  The better productions, like Troy and HBO's Rome, try to stay true to events and characters.

With the Sons of Liberty the History Channel was faithful to events.  But better yet, they gave colonial Boston a grittiness and realism.  The "lower orders" of Boston were well written and acted.  There could have been additional plot development on events, but the film makers were trying to cram a long timeline and mountains of events into three 40 minute shows.  They did well with the limitations imposed on them.

Ben Barnes played a fantastic, no compromising Sam Adams.  Marton Csokas (of XXX and Lord of the Rings) played British General Thomas Gage as a total asshole, which is just about right.

TV Ratings  -  As usual the mouth-breathing American Sheeple proved they want nothing to do with anything that might educate them.  Out of 320 million Americans only 3.2 million viewers tuned in on this prime time Sunday night program.  The Monday night installment dropped down to only 2.8 million viewers.  Tuesday was 3.2 million.

Well, if the mouth-breathers have no interest in freedom from oppression and the birth of their own country then screw 'em.  I for one totally enjoyed the program.

Gwyneth Paltrow's Vagina Steaming - "It’s sorcery for your vagina."

"Basically, it’s sorcery for your vagina."

- - - A totally retarded story that can only be found among the self-absorbed Hollywood Elite.

(LA Times)  -  Leave it to Gwyneth Paltrow to suggest a Must-Do Thing that we didn't even know was a Thing People Get Done.

We're talking about the intentional steam-treatment of one's lady parts.

"The real golden ticket here is the Mugworth V-Steam," she writes at her Goop website, talking up a holistic spa in Santa Monica. "You sit on what is essentially a mini-throne, and a combination of infrared and mugwort steam cleanses your uterus, et al."

And to think, up till now we were feeling pretty good about figuring out how to clean our home office. Maybe how to freshen up the interior of our car.

"It is an energetic release — not just a steam douche — that balances female hormone levels," Paltrow explains. "If you're in L.A., you have to do it."

Want to learn more about what a V-steam entails? Laura Hooper Beck has kindly journeyed to Santa Monica for the experience and written about it in detail for Fast Company.

"Basically," Beck writes, "it’s sorcery for your vagina."

ISIS Commander says funding came through the US

Ask Yourself a Question

  • Weapons and ammo re-supplies are enormously expensive and very hard to get.
  • So a Question:  If Russia and Iran are arming the government of Syria, then who provided the mountains of weapons to get ISIS started in their attacks on Syria and Iraq? . . . . Come on now, let's all spell it out together: C-I-A.

ISLAMABAD  -  Yousaf al Salafi – allegedly the Pakistan commander of Islamic State (IS) or Daish – has confessed during investigations that he has been receiving funds through the United States.

Law enforcing agencies on January 22 claimed that they arrested al Salafi, along with his two companions, during a joint raid in Lahore. However, sources revealed that al Salafi was actually arrested sometimes in December last year and it was only disclosed on January 22.

“During the investigations, Yousaf al Salafi revealed that he was getting funding – routed through America – to run the organisation in Pakistan and recruit young people to fight in Syria,” a source privy to the investigations revealed to Daily Express on the condition of anonymity.

Al Salafi is a Pakistani-Syrian, who entered Pakistan through Turkey five months ago. Earlier, it was reported that he crossed into Turkey from Syria and was caught there. However, he managed to escape from Turkey and reached Pakistan to establish IS in the region.

Sources said al Salafi’s revelations were shared with the US Secretary of State John Kerry during his recent visit to Islamabad. “The matter was also taken up with CENTCOM chief General Lloyd Austin during his visit to Islamabad earlier this month,” a source said.

Al Salafi also confessed that he – along with a Pakistani accomplice, reportedly imam of a mosque – was recruiting people to send them to Syria and was getting around $600 per person from Syria.

“The US has been condemning the IS activities but unfortunately has not been able to stop funding of these organisations, which is being routed through the US,” a source said.

“The US had to dispel the impression that it is financing the group for its own interests and that is why it launched offensive against the organisation in Iraq but not in Syria,” he added.

There are reports that citizens from Libya, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India besides other countries are being recruited by the IS to fight in Syria. Posters and wall chalking in favour of the IS have also been seen in various cities in Pakistan.

20% of U.S. children are on food stamps

The number of children in the United States relying on food stamps for a meal spiked to 16 million last year, according federal data, signaling a lopsided economic recovery in which lower income families are still lagging behind.

The roughly one in five children who received food stamps in 2014 surpassed pre-recession levels, when one in eight or 9 million children were on food stamps, according to the U.S. Census survey of American families released on Wednesday.

Other findings of the survey show a rapidly changing America in which more children are being raised in single-parent homes and more young people are delaying marriage reports Reuters News.

Of the 73.7 million children under 18 in the United States, 27 percent were living in single parent homes last year, tripling the 9 percent in 1960.

The number of marriages also dwindled last year with less than half of households in America made up of married couples, compared to three-quarters in 1940, the survey found.

The median age for people first getting married in 2014 was 29 for men and 27 for women up from 24 and 21 respectively in 1947.

Obama's drone strikes resume in Yemen - The American Sheeple Sleep

Obama's Unconstitutional War

  • Dear Leader Obama, with the silent support of both Dems and Republicans, continues his unconstitutional war in Yemen.  Our Constitution has no meaning to either party.

The American Sheeple

The Sheeple will believe just about any lie the government and its controlled media machine says to them.  Since 2001 the Sheeple have been told about attack after attack that supposedly killed "high ranking terrorists" or key groups of fighters.  It is all bullshit and lies.

Just in case no one noticed, the wars against Islamic terrorism have grown and grown in size.  Now there is fighting all over: from Paris to half of Africa, the Middle East and into Afghanistan, Pakistan and the Philippines.  Sorry, but the 1,400 year old war against Islam will not end with a few drone strikes.

(NY Times) - A C.I.A. drone strike in Yemen, the first since the resignation of President Abdu Rabbu Mansour Hadi, killed three suspected Qaeda fighters on Monday, American officials said, in a signal that the United States will continue its counterterrorism operations there despite the apparent takeover by Houthi fighters.

A missile launched from a drone struck a car in which the three men were riding in the central province of Marib, near the border with the province of Shabwa, which is believed to be a Qaeda stronghold. The C.I.A. operates a drone base in southern Saudi Arabia.

A senior American official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, declined to confirm the names of the victims. A C.I.A. spokesman declined to comment reports the New York Times.

There was no official reaction from the Houthis to the American strike, but one member of the movement, who is close to the leaders of the group, said, “We are against any American plane penetrating our airspace.”

He added: “But they killed militants who were probably planning an attack against us in Marib.” He did not want to be identified because he was not authorized to speak to the news media.

There are also rising fears that the current political standoff could lead to the partition of Yemen. Alarmed by the Houthis’ expansion, the southern separatist movement, Heraq, has been seizing territory, and some tribes are now more open to working with Al Qaeda, giving the group a larger pool from which to recruit.

“Al Qaeda in Yemen tried to strike a deal with tribes in many places before, but they failed,” said Jamal Benomar, the United Nations envoy to Yemen. “Now, some tribes are fighting along with them.”

Government to Remotely Control Your Car

The New Outer Limits
"We are controlling transmission. . . .  sit quietly
and we will control all that you see and hear."

(Infowars News)  -  The UK government today announced a plan to remotely control vehicles on roads using wi-fi technology in order to reduce traffic and offset global warming, the latest manifestation of the ‘Internet of Things’ that will stir up concern amongst privacy advocates.

A report released today by Ofcom, the government-controlled body which regulates communications in the United Kingdom, lays out a blueprint that could be realized in as soon as 10 years where cars would communicate with each other to “reduce congestion”.

The proposals are being billed by some media outlets as a means of solving traffic jams and taking the stress out of finding a parking space, while also serving to reduce “greenhouse gases” and offset global warming.

However, buried in the report is a detail that will horrify many libertarians and privacy advocates.

The state plans to achieve this new high-tech solution by fitting sensors in all cars that would wirelessly send information to a “central traffic control system”. The control system would then react by imposing remote speed limits on each vehicle, a “shockwave effect” which would cause each one to brake and accelerate in unison.

In other words, in the name of reducing traffic and helping the environment, the government could at any time seize control of your vehicle against your will.

Such a system would also obviously empower the government to keep a flawless and permanent database of the precise travel details of every single driver in the country, which would likely be utilized for criminal investigations.

“M2M sensors in cars and on the roads monitor the build up of congestion and wirelessly send this information to a central traffic control system, which automatically impose variable speed limits that smooth the flow of traffic,” states Ofcom. “This system could also communicate directly with cars, directing them along diverted routes to avoid the congestion and even managing their speed.”
“M2M sensors could also be attached to the mechanical parts of a car, such as ABS wheel rotation sensors to measure speed. This information could be wirelessly communicated to nearby cars, which have onboard computers that process and react to this information.”
