(Daily Mail)  -  Islamic State terrorists have urged fanatical followers to bomb a Mariah Carey concert in Saudi Arabia in their latest campaign of online hate.

The pop superstar, 48, is performing in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Thursday night as part of the nation's first international golf tournament, according to Arab News and radicals have been urged to stop the event which is seen to extremists as un-Islamic.

Images circulating on social media have suggested ISIS terrorists want the concert to be targeted.

Badly edited images of an Islamic State flag on a promotional poster were shared by concerned supporters after being found online.

Fans have urged Mariah to cancel her performance.

In the last week of September a pro-Islamic State (ISIS) media group called Al-Abd Al-Faqir Media released images of a western style concert being attacked.

The image features a jihadist wearing a white T-shirt and jeans, holding a grenade in his right hand.

'We have prepared for you what never crossed your mind, for our goal is to horrify you and terrorize you and harm you,' it states.

A week later a similar threat came from Remah Media showing a man in a suit jacket with a large knife behind his back at a concert.

The poster said: 'Wait for our surprises.'

A month later a message followed saying: 'Your brothers in your lands have absolved themselves of blame, so leap onto their tracks and take an example from their actions, and know that Jannah [paradise] is beneath the shadows of swords.'

(Fox News)  -  A man charged with murdering eight people on a New York City bike path invoked “Allah” and defended the Islamic State group in court Friday, reports said.

Sayfullo Saipov, 30, raised his hand to speak out immediately after U.S. District Judge Vernon S. Broderick set an Oct. 7, 2019, date for the Uzbek immigrant's trial.

He said he cared about "Allah" and the holy war being waged by the Islamic State group.

"So the Islamic State is not fighting for land, like some say, or like some say, for oil. They have one purpose, and they're fighting to impose Sharia (Islamic law) on Earth," he said.

Islamists push segregated zones for women on public transport

(Infowars)  -  The president of the Islam Party in Belgium, which sees as its ultimate goal the creation of a “100% Islamic state,” announced his plan to create gender segregated public transport under sharia law.

Abdelhay Bakkali Tahiri told RT that the party wants to create segregated zones for women on public transport in order to protect “vulnerable groups” like women and children.

In reality of course, the measure is a reflection of strict Muslim morality codes that treat women as second class citizens and require gender segregation. Some Islamic theologians have even issued fatwas (death warrants) against those who allow mixing of the sexes.

The party also wants to integrate Sharia law into the Belgian legislative system and mandate halal meat in all public schools in pursuit of a “100% Islamic state.” Some have called for the party to be banned.

As we reported yesterday, during a live television debate, the Islam Party’s founder Redouane Ahrouch refused to shake the hands of female participants or look them in the eye.

Following the debate, the women on the panel labeled Ahrouch’s behavior “shocking,” adding that they felt “humiliated” and “worthless.”

The Islam Party, which has its origins in Molenbeek, the notorious Brussels suburb that has been the home of numerous Islamic terrorists, already has two elected councilors and will participate in 28 municipalities in this year’s elections.

Illustrating how the far-left and Islamism are beginning to coalesce, UK Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn has also called for gender segregation on public transport for virtually the same reasons.

Back in 2015, Corbyn said he would look at introducing women-only carriages on trains in order to “reduce harassment”.

Kurdish forces have arrested 41 Swedish citizens in Syria who left Sweden to fight for the Islamic State with five being described as high-level members of the terror organisation.

Kurdish authorities fighting in Northern Syria revealed that they had captured Swedish citizens or permanent residents, telling Swedish media over the weekend: “Five of them have had key positions within IS. One of them has been responsible for propaganda,” Expressen reports.

“We treat well those who we capture, even though they are terrorists who have murdered innocent people,” the Kurdish source told the newspaper.

(AP) — French prosecutors filed preliminary charges Thursday against Marine Le Pen for tweeting brutal images of Islamic State violence.

The prosecutor's office in the Paris suburb of Nanterre said the charges were issued for "distribution of violent images." If the case eventually reaches trial and she's convicted, Le Pen could face up to three years in prison and a 75,000-euro ($90,000) fine.

Le Pen's December 2015 tweets showed executions by IS extremists, including the killing of American reporter James Foley. She posted them in the wake of the November 2015 IS attacks on Paris, accusing the government of not doing enough to protect France.

Le Pen told BFM television Thursday "it's clearly aimed at silencing me. Yet I will not be silenced". Le Pen said she would consider a potential conviction as a "medal of patriotism and defense of the French people."

The preliminary charges were made possible after the French parliament lifted her immunity from prosecution in the case late last year.

(Breitbart London)  -  Theresa May’s government has admitted that “a significant portion” of the more than 400 Islamic State fighters who have returned to Britain are at large, unpunished, having been deemed “no longer of national security concern”.

The admission came in response to a question in the House of Commons by Labour MP John Woodcock, who demanded to know why the Government is refusing to release figures on the number of returned jihadists being prosecuted, despite having previously provided them.

“Are more than 400 of those returning individuals in jail or going through the court system? We simply do not know, because the Government will not release the figures, despite repeated requests,” he told the chamber.

“There is strong demand from the public to know how many who travelled to fight foreign jihad are currently free in British communities. Those men and women are escaping justice, despite having been prepared to fight British troops in the name of a sickeningly evil cause.

Speaking for Theresa May’s government, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Home Department Victoria Atkins MP confirmed that “we know that more than 850 UK-linked individuals of national security concern travelled to engage with the Syrian conflict” and that “over 15 per cent” are presumed killed, with “just under half” thought to have returned to Britain.

She then admitted that “A significant proportion of those individuals who have already returned are assessed as no longer being of national security concern” — meaning they have not been prosecuted and are at large in the country — possibly not even under active surveillance.

(RT News)  -  The Russian Defense Ministry has started work on upgrading the bases in Tartus and Khmeimim in Syria into permanent military centers. Damascus has agreed to host Russian forces for at least 49 more years.

The bases in Tartus and Khmeimim are among a handful of military installations Russia has in foreign nations. Earlier this year, Russia and Syria finalized an agreement regulating the presence of Russian troops in Syria. Khmeimim Airbase, located near Latakia, and the naval site in the port city of Tartus have both been handed over to Russia for 49 years lease-free, and with a condition of automatic extension unless either country chooses to terminate the deal. The Russian parliament ratified the Khmeimim deal in July and the Tartus deal on Tuesday.

Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu reported on Tuesday that the details of the deployment and development of the two sites had been authorized by President Vladimir Putin last week. “We have started the process of formation of our permanent forces [in Syria],” Shoigu said at a ministry meeting.

Russia has been flying sorties from Khmeimim since 2015, when its Syria anti-terrorist campaign started. The site in Tartus has been operating since the 1970s, but was a small facility meant for resupplying Soviet and later Russian ships. Officially dubbed a “material-technical support point” in naval nomenclature, it is not fitted to dock or repair larger ships.

The Russian Navy, however, reportedly intends to expand the facility significantly. Under the agreement with Syria, the future base would be allowed to host up to 11 Russian warships, including those with a nuclear power plant. At the moment there is only one Russian nuclear-propelled military surface ship, the 24,000-ton battlecruiser ‘Pyotr Velikiy’, although Russia will soon have a nuclear icebreaker – albeit which is unlikely to be given a mission in the Mediterranean – while a brand new Lider-class destroyer project is at the design stage.

With no end of the war in sight, groups continue to battle for control over large parts of the country.

The Syrian government, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, known as ISIS), Kurdish factions, and several other rebel groups are still fighting for some of the most important parts of the country.

Government troops, supported by Russian war planes, have gained some ground over the past few months, expelling ISIL from Palmyra and other important places.

At the end of 2016, the Syrian government managed to capture Aleppo, one of the main battlegrounds in the conflict. 

Meanwhile Kurdish fighters have made gains in the northern part of Syria, reducing the territory under control by ISIL.

Turkish troops recently joined the fight against ISIL, expelling the group from the city of Jarablus.

(The Guardian)  -  Five soldiers from Niger and three US Army special forces troops were killed and two wounded in an ambush on a joint patrol in southwest Niger on Wednesday, according to Nigerien and US officials.

The five Green Berets were attacked while on a routine patrol in an area known to have a presence of insurgents, including from al-Qaida in Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) and Islamic State, a US official told Reuters.

It was unclear who fired on the US and US-backed forces, the official said. Those forces were not patrolling the area with any specific objective, such as a high-value target or rescuing a hostage, the official added.

A spokesman for US Africa Command confirmed the attack after Radio France International (RFI) reported a lethal ambush near the Niger/Mali border.

“We can confirm reports that a joint US and Nigerien patrol came under hostile fire in southwest Niger,” said the spokesman.

Namatta Abubacar, an official for the region of Tillaberi in Niger, said five Nigerien soldiers were among the dead.

A Niger diplomatic source said the attackers had come from Mali and had killed several soldiers, without saying whether any of the US troops stationed in the West African country were among the victims.

(RT News)  -  Aleppo, a city retaken by Damascus from rebels in December last year, has become a major destination for displaced Syrian returning home in 2017 as numbers of returnees to Syria spills over 600,000, according to the UN.

Over the first seven months of 2017, over 600,000 displaced Syrians returned home, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) said Friday, citing its own figures as well as those of the UN Migration Agency and partners on the ground. The returnees are overwhelmingly internally-displaced people, but 16 percent returned to Syria from other nations, primarily Turkey. The number almost matched that recorded in the whole of 2016.

An estimated 67 percent of returnees went to government-controlled Aleppo Governorate, with the provincial capital itself being the primary destination. Among other places where refugees went in significant numbers, according to ICO, is Al-Hasakah Governorate, the north-eastern province dominated by Kurds.

The city of Aleppo – the largest in Syria prior to the conflict – was retaken by the government army last year, aided by Russia, with hostilities ending in mid-December. For years before that, it was divided between two parts, held respectively by government forces and by a disjointed collection of militant groups, including hardcore jihadists. The battle for the city ended with a ceasefire deal, which allowed remaining rebel forces and their families leave Aleppo and go to Idlib governorate, which currently remains a rebel stronghold.

Earlier an increasing number of refugees returning to their homes in Syria was reported by the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), which said more than 440,000 internally-displaced persons and 31,000 refugees in other countries had done so over the first six months of 2016. Aleppo and other government-controlled governorates like Hama, Homs and Damascus were mentioned as destinations for the returnees.

“Given the returns witnessed so far this year and in light of a progressively-increased number of returns of internally displaced people and, in time, refugees, UNHCR has started scaling up its operational capacity inside Syria,” the agency said.

The situation is far from rosy of course, according to IOM. The number of people forced to leave their homes in 2017 still outweighs that of returnees, with over 808,000 people estimated to be displaced. Around 10 percent of those who returned in 2016 and 2017 have ended up fleeing their homes again.

Almost 20 percent of the returnees have no secure supply of food and access to water and health services is a problem for some 60 percent, a testament to the damage the Syrian war has taken on its civilian infrastructure.

(The Hill)  -  Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) on Thursday unveiled his long-promised strategy for Afghanistan, saying "America is adrift" in the war-torn nation as the Trump administration spins its wheels.

McCain, the chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee who was recently diagnosed with brain cancer, has long threatened to force a strategy on the administration if it doesn’t come up with one to win the 16-year-old war.

“Adopting a new strategy for achieving America’s national security interests in Afghanistan is a decision of the highest importance, one that should be subjected to rigorous scrutiny and debate within our government,” he said. “But we must face facts: we are losing in Afghanistan and time is of the essence if we intend to turn the tide.”

Right now, there are about 8,400 U.S. troops in Afghanistan on a dual mission of training, advising and assisting Afghan forces in their fight against the Taliban and conducting counterterrorism missions against groups such as al Qaeda and the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

McCain does not specify how many troops would be necessary to "turn the tide," but he calls for an “enduring United States counterterrorism presence in Afghanistan.”

McCain says the president should ensure the Defense secretary, secretary of State and military commanders have all the resources they need, including military forces, civilian personnel, financial resources and authorities.

Now, a report is confirming that those left in the government, and there are many, from Obama’s tenure are busy trying to erase the references to ISIS’ “genocide” of Christians in the Middle East.

It is the American Center for Law and Justice that is, well, a little upset.

“In a startling revelation, news is breaking this week that Obama holdovers within the State Department are actively attempting to scrub its records to remove any mention of the ISIS genocide against Christians,” the organization reported.

“This is outrageous and the ACLJ has had enough, so we are preparing a new set of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests to find out why – and to expose deep state operatives who would use the delay of confirming new State Department officials as cover to strip legal protections from Christians facing genocide.”

The activist team quoted from the Washington Free Beacon that, “The State Department’s top lawyers are systematically removing the word ‘genocide’ to describe the Islamic State’s mass slaughter of Christians, Yazidis, and other ethnic minorities in Iraq and Syria from speeches before they are delivered and other official documents, according to human rights activists and attorneys familiar with the policies.’

“This is absolutely unacceptable and cannot be tolerated. And it begs the question, ‘Why?'” the ACLJ said.

(RT News)  -  The House of Representatives has voted overwhelmingly to pass new sanctions against Russia, and require congressional approval before US President Donald Trump can ease or remove existing ones. The bill also includes sanctions against Iran and North Korea

Lawmakers voted 419-3 to approve legislation is seeking to punish Russia over a host of issues, including its alleged meddling in the 2016 presidential election, its support for the Syrian government and alleged support for the rebels in Ukraine, as well as Crimea’s accession to Russia.

If signed into law, the measure will effectively cement the existing sanctions against Russia by requiring the administration to get permission from Congress before lifting or easing the economic penalties against Moscow.

“It empowers Congress to review and disapprove of any sanctions relief,” said Rep. Ed Royce (R-California) on the House floor, ahead of the vote.

The sanctions target a wide array of entities and individuals – including Russia’s energy sector, banks and weapons manufacturers, as well as those whom the US has accused of interfering in the US presidential election through hacking and otherwise.

Fresh sanctions would prove detrimental not just to the US and Russia, but other countries too, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Monday.

“If Trump signs the sanctions bill, he will not calm down his enemies – they desire his impeachment. But he will inflict double damage – to relations with Russia and the European Union at the same time,” Russian senator Aleksey Pushkov said.

(New York Times)  -  With help from the C.I.A., Arab governments and Turkey have sharply increased their military aid to Syria’s opposition fighters in recent months, expanding a secret airlift of arms and equipment for the uprising against President Bashar al-Assad, according to air traffic data, interviews with officials in several countries and the accounts of rebel commanders. 

The airlift, which began on a small scale in early 2012 and continued intermittently through last fall, expanded into a steady and much heavier flow late last year, the data shows. It has grown to include more than 160 military cargo flights by Jordanian, Saudi and Qatari military-style cargo planes landing at Esenboga Airport near Ankara, and, to a lesser degree, at other Turkish and Jordanian airports.
.From offices at secret locations, American intelligence officers have helped the Arab governments shop for weapons, including a large procurement from Croatia, and have vetted rebel commanders and groups to determine who should receive the weapons as they arrive, according to American officials speaking on the condition of anonymity. 

The C.I.A. declined to comment on the shipments or its role in them.
