Hispanic Republicans - Gov. Octaviano Larrazolo
Octaviano Ambrosio Larrazolo United State Senator and Governor of New Mexico. |
(Editor - Here is a profile of a great Hispanic American from the olden days . . . from the days before a majority of Hispanic voters sold their soul to the Democratic Party in return for a few Socialist crumbs form the table of the Big Brother Welfare State.)
Octavio Ambrosio Larrazolo (December 7, 1859 – April 7, 1930) served as the fourth Governor of New Mexico and a United States Senator.
He was the first United States Senator of Mexican-American heritage.
Larrazolo was born in Valle de Allende in Chihuahua, Mexico, on December 7, 1859. A devoutly religious man, he moved to Tucson, Arizona Territory, in 1870 to study under the bishop of Arizona. He studied theology at the St. Michael's College at Santa Fe, New Mexico Territory, in 1875 and 1876. Larrazolo returned to Tucson to teach in public schools briefly, and then moved to El Paso County, Texas to teach there.
Political Career
He was appointed clerk of the district court at El Paso, and then clerk of the United States District and Circuit Courts for the Western District of Texas at El Paso. Larrazolo was admitted to the bar in 1888. He was elected district attorney for the Western District of Texas in 1890, and reelected in 1892. He held the position until 1894.
Larrazolo moved to Las Vegas, New Mexico Territory, in 1895 and resumed the practice of law. He ran unsuccessfully as the Democratic candidate for Delegate to United States Congress from the New Mexico Territory in 1890, 1900, and 1908.
San Elizario, Texas in 1910. The occasion was the baptism of Octaviano's son, Paul. Left is Marciano Rey, sitting is Carlos Garcia and next to him is Octaviano A. Larrazolo. |
In 1911, Larrazolo changed his political affiliations to Republican after the State Convention of the Democratic Party denied his request that half of all statewide nominees be Hispanic to represent the 60 percent of the population of New Mexico that was Hispanic. He was elected Governor of the State of New Mexico in 1918, becoming just the second Hispanic to serve in this role since the territory became a state in 1912.
The campaign in 1918, though, was an intense one that exposed some fractions within the Hispanic community. His Democratic opponent, Félix García, claimed that Larrazolo's birth in Chihuahua precluded him from understanding the concerns of “native New Mexicans.” Larrazolo’s narrow victory, however, seemed to quiet most of the debate about whether he could authentically advocate on behalf of the Spanish-speaking population.
During Larrazolo's governorship, tax reform measures were sanctioned and a state board of health was established. Improvements were also initiated to assist New Mexico's Latino population.
After serving two years as Governor, Larrazolo was elected to the New Mexico House of Representatives in 1927 and 1928. After Senator Andrieus A. Jones died in 1928, Larrazolo ran for the remaining six months of the term. He won, and became the first Hispanic elected to the United States Senate. Larrazolo did not seek reelection due to illness.
Larrazolo died on April 7, 1930, and is interred in Santa Barbara Cemetery in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Police cockroach robots to spy on you
Police State Cockroach Robots
- The government is always looking for new and better ways to violate the Bill of Rights.
Researchers say they've figured out a way to create Borg, remote-controlled cockroaches, falsely claiming to a gullible press and public that the creatures could be used in "disaster zones" to gather information and look for survivors.
Pure 100% Bullshit.
These Borg creatures are being created totally for police and military use to act as spies.
Will the Feds and local police even bother to get a court warrant to spy on Americans? More and more they are ignoring the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
Video footage from the experiments at North Carolina State University shows the part-robot roaches being directed along a curving path via remote control. The researchers say they attached a lightweight chip with a wireless receiver and transmitter onto Madagascar hissing cockroaches and wired a microcontroller to the insects' antennae and cerci — the sensory organs on the bug's abdomen that cause it to run away from danger.
Fifth Element: Remote controlled cockroach
With electrical signals, the researchers stimulated the cerci to trick the roaches into thinking they needed to scamper away from a predator. Once moving, charges sent to the antennae controlled the insects' direction. A signal sent to one antenna could make a roach think its feeler was touching a wall, sending it in the opposite direction, a statement from NC State explained.
"Building small-scale robots that can perform in such uncertain, dynamic conditions is enormously difficult. We decided to use biobotic cockroaches in place of robots, as designing robots at that scale is very challenging, and cockroaches are experts at performing in such a hostile environment," NC State researcher Alper Bozkurt said in the statement.

Democrats cancel ads against Allen West

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee canceled a week of airtime in Constitutional Federalist Congressman Allen West’s Florida district starting Oct. 9, according to multiple sources tracking the buy.
Roll Call reports Democrats cite a substantial House Majority PAC buy — $1 million over a few weeks including Oct. 9 — as the reason they pulled their reservation in the West Palm Beach market that week.
House Republicans argued the cancellation is a sign the DCCC is cutting off the Florida race.
“By all appearances, national Democrats are throwing in the towel on Patrick Murphy’s sinking campaign,” National Republican Congressional Committee spokesman Nat Sillin said. “The more voters get to know Murphy and his policies, the less they like him — and now even his party leaders are abandoning ship.”

Brazil viciously attacks Internet Freedom
Brazil arrests Google Executive. Fabio José Silva Coelho, Google's top executive in Brazil was arrested for refusing to censor YouTube for the Brazilian government. |
Internet Police arrest the head of Google Brazil
- Brazil tries to censor YouTube to pacify crazy Muslims and to control local candidates in elections.
- Google faces fines of $4,950 a day if they do not bow to Big Government and censor the Internet.
A Sao Paulo, Brazil court gave Google 10 days to remove from YouTube any video containing scenes from the "Innocence of Muslims," an anti-Islam film that Muslims used as an excuse to commit stupid acts of violent protest and murder.
Roughly 40 percent of Brazil's estimated 12-million strong Muslim population live in the Sao Paulo metropolitan area, home to 20 million people.
The Sao Paulo court said failure to comply would mean "a daily fine of $4,950 reports AFP News.
The business daily Valor reported that Google failed to comply with another order from the electoral court of Mato Grosso do Sul to yank a video that offends Gerson Garcia, the mayoral candidate in the town of Nioaque.
And ten days ago, an electoral judge in the northeast state of Paraiba took similar action against Edmundo Balthazar, a Google director in Brazil, for failing to comply with an order to remove from YouTube a video in which a mayoral candidate was described as "a donkey".
Innocence of Muslims movie trailer
God, this trailer is bad. But I am posting it just to screw with the crazy ass insane Islamists. We need the freedom of speech to condemn so-called "prophets" like L. Ron Hubbard, Rev. Jim Jones or Mohammed.
Police arrested the head of Google Brazil over his refusal to remove YouTube videos that allegedly slander a mayoral candidate.
But as the crime that Fabio Jose Silva Coelho is accused of has "low potential to offend" he will not remain in custody, federal police said in a statement.
Rather, he will be released after he agrees in writing to appear in court, the statement said.
An electoral court has said Silva Coelho committed the crime of "disobedience" by not removing two videos that "slander, insult and defame" Campo Grande candidate Alcides Bernal.
The videos accuse the candidate of "instigating abortion, drunkenness, physical injury of a minor, illicit enrichment, and contempt as well as prejudice against the underprivileged," according to the indictment.
The tribunal, in the southwestern state of Mato Grosso do Sul, also asked Google to block YouTube in the town of Campo Grande, or the entire state, for 24 hours.
The first round of municipal elections in more than 5,000 Brazilian cities is scheduled for October 7.
Brazil’s electoral laws limit what critics can say on television, radio and the Internet about political candidates.

RIP: Herbert Lom (1917 - 2012)
Czech-born actor best known as Inspector Clouseau's crazed boss in the Pink Panther films
- "Give me ten men like Clouseau and I could destroy the world." - - - Chief Inspector Dreyfus "A Shot in the Dark" (1964)
By Gary;
It is a sad day when an actor who was a major figure for you in your youth passes from this troubled planet.
So here at my laptop I raise my glass of gin and tonic. To Herbert. Thanks for the wonderful memories. God Bless.
Herbert Lom, who has died aged 95, spent more than 50 years in dramatic roles, playing mostly smooth villains, but he was best known for his portrayal of Charles Dreyfus, the hysterically twitching boss of the bumbling Inspector Clouseau (Peter Sellers) in the series of slapstick Pink Panther comedies.
Herbert Charles Angelo Kuchacevich ze Schluderpacheru was born in 1917 into an impoverished aristocratic family in Prague then part of the Empire of Austria-Hungary.
He studied philosophy at Prague University, where he organised student theatre. In 1939, on the eve of the German invasion of Czechoslovakia, he arrived in Britain with his Jewish girlfriend, Didi, but she was sent back at Dover because she did not have the correct papers. Her subsequent death in a concentration camp haunted him all his life.

From the 1976 film 'The Pink Panther Strikes Again'
Because of his linguistic abilities, Lom worked for the BBC European Service during the second world war, while building an acting career in British films with his newly shortened name. He had already appeared in small parts in two Czech films. In his first British film, Carol Reed's The Young Mr Pitt (1941), he played Napoleon Bonaparte, whom he resembled.
In The Return of the Pink Panther (1975), Lom ends up in a straitjacket, writing "Kill Clouseau" on the walls of his padded cell with his toes. In The Pink Panther Strikes Again (1976), he escapes from the asylum and becomes a master criminal. Revenge of the Pink Panther (1978) has him driven crazy again.
His last appearance was on television as a suspicious French professor in an adaptation of Agatha Christie's The Murder at the Vicarage (2004), with Geraldine McEwan as Miss Marple.

Bombs used on Greek police - Spanish riots

Floating on a Sea of Debt - The public starts to get violent as the Government Teat they were sucking on begins to run dry.
- Cuts in benefits and increases in taxes.
- The American Teat is also starting to run dry.
Violence - Coming soon to the United States?
The American welfare teat is running dry. Do US political hacks will have balls to physically drag the corporate and individual suckers off the government treasury teat and risk violence in the streets? or will they simply start up the printing press and belch out billions in phony Monopoly money to keep the party going?
Meanwhile in Europe demonstrators wearing helmets and gas masks and armed with sticks clashed with police in the Greek capital on Wednesday, as a general strike was held to protest the government’s austerity drive.
The American Teat is also starting to run dry. |
NBC News reported riot police fought with the protesters wearing the black clothes favored by anarchist groups for about 45 minutes in the central Syntagma Square, letting off tear gas in an attempt to disperse the crowd.
Much of the union's anger is directed at spending cuts worth nearly $15.55 billion over the next two years that Greece has promised the European Union and International Monetary Fund in an effort to unlock its next tranche of aid.
The bulk of those cuts are expected from slashing wages, pensions and welfare benefits, heaping a new wave of misery on Greeks who say repeated rounds of austerity have pushed them to the brink and failed to transform the country for the better.

MADRID / SPAIN RIOTS - Waving the red flag of revolution
Leftists beat the police outside the Spanish Parliament.
There were also violent clashes between anti-austerity protesters and riot police in Spain on Tuesday.
Police there told The Associated Press that 38 people were arrested and 64 people injured when officers clashed with protesters demonstrating against cutbacks and tax hikes.
Several thousand people converged on the Spanish Parliament building in central Madrid where more than 1,000 riot police blocked off access to the building, forcing protesters to crowd nearby avenues.
Police baton-charged protesters at the front of the march and some demonstrators broke down barricades and threw rocks and bottles, the AP said. Reuters reported that police fired rubber bullets.

Muslim teachers are being trained to spot gays
Can you spot the gay Muslim child? |
More Muslim Insanity - Teachers are being trained to spot Lesbians and Gays in their classrooms
- Gays can be jailed for up to 20 years, caned or fined.
- The Leftist Hollywood and Democrat Elite are silent when when anti-Gay bigots are Muslims.
The mostly Muslim Malaysian government has begun holding seminars aiming to help teachers and parents spot signs of homosexuality in children, underscoring a rise in religious conservatism in the country.
So far, the Teachers Foundation of Malaysia has organised 10 seminars across the country. Attendance at the last event reached 1,500 people, a spokesman for the organisation said.
"It is a multi-religious and multicultural [event], after all, all religions are basically against that type of behaviour," said the official.
The federal government said in March that it is working to curb the "problem" of homosexuality, especially among Muslims who make up over 60% of Malaysia's population of 29 million people reports the UK Guardian.
According to a handout issued at a recent seminar, signs of homosexuality in boys may include preferences for tight, light-coloured clothes and large handbags, local media reported.
For girls, the details were less clear. Girls with lesbian tendencies have no affection for men and like to hang out and sleep in the company of women, the reports said.
Malaysia frowns on oral and gay sex, describing them as against the order of nature. Under civil law, 'offenders', both male and female, can be jailed for up to 20 years, caned or fined.
Actual prosecutions are rare, although former deputy prime minister Anwar Ibrahim has twice been tried for sodomy, in cases he called political conspiracies. He spent six years in jail, but the courts have since cleared him on appeal or dropped charges for lack of evidence.
Official intolerance of gay people has been on the rise. Last year, despite widespread criticism, the east coast state of Terengganu set up a camp for "effeminate" boys to show them how to become men.

POLICE STATE - Paying in cash becomes illegal
The American Police State - Court rules the government can "detain" you for daring to pay a bill in cash
- "The fact that a person is not free to leave on his own terms at a given moment, however, does not, by itself, mean that the person has been 'seized' within the meaning of the Fourth Amendment," the moronic court wrote.
- The Court says the Bill of Rights does not exist and that government agents can hold you until they decide to let you go.
Motorists can be held indefinitely at toll booths if they pay with large denomination bills, according to a federal appeals court ruling. Now daring to pay a bill in legal US currency is not allowed.
A family of drivers -- Joel, Deborah and Robert Chandler -- filed suit last year arguing they were effectively being held hostage by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and the private contractor in charge of the state's toll road, Faneuil, Inc.
Under FDOT policies in place at the time, motorists who paid with $50 bills, and occasionally even $5 bills, were not given permission to proceed until the toll collector filled out a "Bill Detection Report" with data about the motorist's vehicle and details from his driver's license. Many of those who chose to pay cash did so to avoid the privacy implications of installing a SunPass transponder that recorded their driving habits.
They were likewise unwilling to provide personal information to the toll collector, but they had no alternative because the toll barrier would not be raised without compliance. FDOT policy does not allow passengers to exit their vehicle, and backing up is illegal and usually impossible while other cars wait behind. FDOT dropped the Bill Detection Reports in 2010.
A three-judge panel of the Eleventh Circuit US Court of Appeals did not buy the argument that these motorist detentions rose to the level of a constitutional violation.
"The fact that a person is not free to leave on his own terms at a given moment, however, does not, by itself, mean that the person has been 'seized' within the meaning of the Fourth Amendment," the court wrote in its unsigned decision. "In Florida, a person's right and liberty to use a highway is not absolute; it may be regulated in the public interest through reasonable and reasonably executed regulations."

China's first aircraft carrier enters service
The growing power of the Chinese Navy
China has taken delivery of its first aircraft carrier into service, according to the country's defence ministry.
The 300-metre-long Liaoning, named after the province where it was refitted, is a refurbished Soviet ship purchased from Ukraine.
Al Jazeera reports Tuesday's unveiling is an attempt by China to be a leading Asian naval power, although the ship is not expected to carry a full complement of planes or be ready for combat for some time.

The announcement had been long expected and was not directly linked to current tensions with Japan over a disputed group of uninhabited islands in the East China Sea.
In a brief notice on its website, the ministry said the carrier's commissioning significantly boosted the navy's combat capabilities and its ability to cooperate in responding to natural disasters and other non-traditional threats.
"It has important significance in effectively safeguarding national sovereignty, security, and development benefits, and advancing world peace and common development," the statement said.
The vessel will "increase [China's] capacity to defend, develop its capacity to co-operate on the high seas in dealing with non-traditional security threats and will be effective in defending the interests of state sovereignty, security and development", it said.
