(Infowars)  School officials in Oregon have decided that proficiency in reading, writing and math are no longer necessary in order to graduate, reasoning that minority children are not testing well and therefore the current standards are “discriminatory”.

The Daily Mail reports that the State Board of Education there voted to suspend the need to prove standards in core skills for FIVE years because ‘equity’, or something.

Board Chair, Martinez Zapata described opposition to the move as a “campaign of misinformation” and “artistic quality mental acrobatics,” further claiming that the arguments against doing away with standards are rooted in “myopic analysis and bigotry,” as well as “racial superiority.”

The move has prompted a fierce backlash from parents and members of the public.

Oregon Democrats have rammed through HB2002, a highly controversial bill that would allow children to get abortions and undergo gender transformation surgery without their parents’ knowledge, and the parents’ insurance company would have to pick up the cost.

After a series of procedural attempts by the Republicans to stop the proposal on Monday, the bill passed 36-23, with every democrat voting for it, along with one republican, Representative Charlie Conrad. Every other Republican voted against the bill, sans one who was absent for the day

If passed into law, the bill would also decriminalize the concealing of a dead infant, and force Oregon taxpayers to foot the cost for people from out-of-state seeking these same procedures. Doctors are also shielded from any malpractice related to these procedures.

Indoor Mask Mandate Permanent Says Marxist Oregon

Oregon is moving to making its indoor mask mandate permanent, meaning the rule will only be able to be repealed in the highly unlikely event of Republicans winning the state.

Authorities are progressing in making compulsory face coverings an indefinite mandate and have taken “the first step in making the rule permanent,” reports KATU.

“The Oregon Health Authority (OHA) convened a Rules Advisory Committee (RAC) on Thursday. The RAC provided feedback on the indoor mask rule. The point of the committee is to suggest what should and shouldn’t be included in the ruling and discuss the impact it will have on the public.”

“Community stakeholders, including those from the hospitality and faith sectors, joined in the meeting. People from the Seventh Day Adventists Church, the High Desert Museum, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, and McMenamins were a part of the conversation.”

The Oregon Health Authority is now requiring businesses and religious institutions to enforce mask mandates by forcing people to show proof of vaccination.

The CDC last week updated its mask guidance and said fully vaccinated people no longer need to wear masks indoors.

In order to prevent the unvaccinated from walking around unmasked, Oregon health officials are now creating a caste system by marking the unvaxxed lepers.

“Businesses, employers and faith institutions now have the option to adjust their masking guidance to allow fully vaccinated individuals to no longer wear a mask in their establishments,” OHA’s website said. “Businesses, employers and faith institutions doing so must have a policy in place to check the vaccination status of all individuals before they enter their establishment. Businesses, employers and faith institutions who do not create such policies will maintain the same masking guidance listed below, regardless of an individual’s vaccination status.”

(WND)  An Oregon woman and her salon corporation have filed a lawsuit seeking $100,000 in damages against Gov. Kate Brown (D) and various other state officials for the governor's decision to sic social services on her and allegedly threaten to remove her children from home because she kept her business open during the coronavirus-pandemic lockdown.

The case brought in Circuit Court in Marion County by Lindsey Graham and her Glamour! company explains that the government "imposed heavy burdens on certain sectors of the economy, while other sectors of the economy – especially those that receive a paycheck from the government – have been let largely economically unaffected."

The burdens were the officials' reaction to the COVID-19 pandemic.

To that end, the case claims, "In Oregon, the government forced small businesses [to] shut their doors and 'ride out' the [coronavirus] pandemic. The government imposed irrational and random restrictions on which businesses could remain open and which businesses had to close."

The "sudden, irrational, draconian, and irresponsible orders" from Brown claimed the moves were needed to protect the public's health, the filing said. "In fact, by shutting down private businesses, which in turn caused Oregonians to lose their jobs and their ability to support their families, caused greater negative health effects on Oregonians in the form of increased stress, anxiety and depression."

"Oregonians who do not live off the public dole (like the individually named defendants) were suddenly forced to worry about how they would support themselves and their loved ones."

The government defendants, including Brown, "remained comfortable, collecting a paycheck on the backs of the very people who were losing their jobs, careers and businesses."

"Kate Brown even lives in a mansion paid for by the taxpayers of Oregon…" the case explains.

When Graham decided, after weeks of living under Brown's "repressive regime," to reopen her salon so that she and other hair stylists could support their families, she became a "target" of the defendants, it states.

"The conduct of the defendants, individually and collectively, alleged below, is beyond reprehensible. The conduct of the defendants represents the absolute worst abuses of power one could possibly imagine. Even George Orwell would be shocked and appalled at the defendants’ conduct. At the heart of the defendants’ conduct is the defendants’ ultimate goal: make Plaintiff Lindsey Graham an example to anyone else who may try to experience personal and economic freedom. The defendants wanted to teach Plaintiff Lindsey Graham a lesson – and others like her: the Government gets to do what it wants, no questions asked," explains the claim.

After an initial barrage from the state's health and safety agency, and a $14,000 fine for operating an allegedly unsafe facility, Fox reported, Graham's family was "terrorized" by the governor.

That was because of threats to place Lindsey's children under the care of Child Protective Services, she said.

"She terrorized myself, she terrorized my stylists, and she terrorized my family. She took every government agency she could, and she put her full weight into intimidating me into closing, including sending Child Protective Services to my home and threatening the removal of my children," she explained.

The state agency, she charged, "opened a full-blown case against me which was completely bogus and unwarranted, and it didn't come until I shot back at them with the threat of a lawsuit," Graham said.

The CPS showed up at Graham's home three days after she reopened her salon.

The filing states that the state Department of Human Services, Child Welfare Division fabricated an "alleged complaint" about Graham that was "so outrageous, so ridiculous, so unbelievable … no rational person could have actually believed the allegations."

Despite the fact that no one witnessed anyone doing anything wrong, the state investigated it as a matter of life-or-death urgency, the claim states.

The Democrat run state of Oregon has opened applications for a coronavirus relief fund specifically for the “black community.”

The Oregon Cares Fund is a $62 million fund set aside from the federal CARES Act and is intended only for black individuals and black-owned entites.

“The Oregon Cares Fund is a targeted investment in the Black community from the CARES Act Coronavirus Relief Fund,” the fund website states.

“This fund is meant to provide the Black community with the resources it needs to weather the global health pandemic and consequent recession. The Oregon Cares Fund is for Black people, Black-owned businesses, and Black community based organizations.”

The application period opened on Monday and all funds must be distributed by Dec. 30, according to the Portland Business Journal.

“This is a historic first step to address the disparities facing Black Oregonians in the face of Covid-19,” State Rep. Akasha Lawrence Spence (D-Portland) said in a statement. “Oregon has underinvested in its Black citizens for far too long.”

Lincoln County’s directive, which went into effect June 16, appears similar to other mask orders across the country, stating:

General directive: All individuals in Lincoln County are required to wear face coverings during any indoor public setting or outdoor public location where a person will be in within six feet of another individual, who does not share the same household.

Where Lincoln County breaks from other places is it’s made an exception from the mask order for “people of color.”

Oregon residents petition to join Idaho

(USA Today)  -  Frustrated by liberal policies, some Oregon residents petitioned to leave the state – by moving the border with Idaho westward. 

The movement secured initial approval from two counties and aims to get enough signatures to put the proposal on ballots in November, according to the group called Greater Idaho.

If the group succeeds, voters in southeast Oregon may see a question on whether their county should become part of Idaho by redrawing the border.

“Rural counties have become increasingly outraged by laws coming out of the Oregon Legislature that threaten our livelihoods, our industries, our wallet, our gun rights, and our values,” Mike McCarter, one of the chief petitioners, said in a news release. “We tried voting those legislators out, but rural Oregon is outnumbered and our voices are now ignored. This is our last resort.”

Greater Idaho said it needs to collect about 2,400 signatures from Josephine County and about 3,000 from Douglas County to appear on the ballot. 

"People here would prefer Idaho's conservative governance to the progressive/liberal current Oregon governance," Gottschalk said in a news release. "Every time I look at the Facebook group Greater Idaho, the group has gotten bigger."

Of Oregon's 36 counties, only 14 in the Willamette Valley area would remain if the group had its way. Moving the border would require approval from the U.S. Congress as well as the Idaho and Oregon Legislatures.

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) – A giant brown inflatable poo emoji attracted dozens of people to Pioneer Square this weekend.

Folks were happy to take photos in front of it, while others braved to go inside.

“We brought the ‘Giant Poo’ for everyone to go through. It’s about a three-minute, 360-degree IMAX experience,” said a worker.

The company Poo-Pourri set it up downtown. It actually has an important purpose: it’s in support of World Toilet Day, which is meant to inspire action to tackle the global sanitation crisis.

And for everyone who visits, Poo-Pourri will donate $2 to the cause.

If you want to check it out, be prepared for long lines. The inflatable will be at Pioneer Square until Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m.

Dems Ban Urinals To Help Transgenders

The city of Portland has banned urinals in its remodeled administrative building to “remove arbitrary barriers in our community,” KGW-TV reported.

Chief Administrative Officer Tom Rinehart emailed employees last February, saying, “We will continue to have gender-specific (male and female) multi-stall restrooms that are readily available to any employee that prefers to use one. But there will be no urinals in any restroom in the building,” the station said.

"I am convinced that this is the right way to ensure success as your employer, remove arbitrary barriers in our community, and provide leadership that is reflective of our shared values," he added, KGW reported.

The station added that the city has redesigned all the restrooms to be gender-neutral, which means urinals are banned even in the men's restrooms.

"I think it's ridiculous," conservative talk show host Lars Larson told KGW. "First of all, I know that it already makes a lot of people uncomfortable. Secondly, it's gonna take up a lot more space, and third — anyone who's ever been to any public event — have you seen the line at the ladies' room? Do you see any line at the men's room?"

Larson added to the station that urinals use far less water than toilets.

The building's first, third, and 15th floors will have large multi-stall restrooms that men and women will use together, KGW said, adding that other floors will have separate men's and women's restrooms — but each floor will have at least one any-gender restroom.

There will be 42 "all-user stalls," the station said, and 104 gender-specific stalls.
The Portland building remodel will cost taxpayers $195,000,000, KGW said, adding that a spokeswoman said she didn't have a dollar figure on the cost of the restroom work.

Dog Rapists Freed by Sanctuary City

(Daily News)  -  Federal immigration officials lashed out at authorities in Multnomah County, Oregon, and local sanctuary laws Thursday after a man residing in the U.S. illegally was set free upon serving 60 days for raping a dog to death.

Fidel Lopez, 52, was convicted on April 8 of sexually assaulting his fiancée’s Lhasa Apso mix so forcefully that it had to be euthanized. He received a 60-day sentence but was released immediately because he had already served that amount of time awaiting trial on the February offense.

But ICE says the county should have notified the agency at least 48 hours before Lopez was let go so they could apprehend him on immigration violations.

“On April 8, Lopez was convicted of sexual assault of an animal and aggravated animal abuse and sentenced to 60 days in jail with credit for time served," said Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) spokeswoman Tanya J. Roman in a statement. “The Multnomah County Jail did not honor the immigration detainer and released him without notice to ICE.”

CE picked up Lopez at home Thursday and served him a notice to appear, the agency said, and he will be taken to the Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma “pending immigration proceedings.”

Teacher forces boy to watch transgender videos

(WND)  -  A school district in Oregon is being sued after a teacher repeatedly grilled an 8-year-old student about whether he thought he is a girl, gave him videos on transgenderism to watch and provided instructional books.

Oddly enough, that type of behavior likely will be standard practice soon in California.

KPTV-TV reported the parents of a student in Woodburn, Oregon, filed a complaint alleging their son was held back from recess by the teacher for multiple one-on-one conversations about his gender identity.

The parents were not told what the teacher was doing, they said.

“The mother and father in Woodburn are now suing a school district for nearly a million dollars after they say a second-grade teacher singled out their son by asking him if he was transgender. The parents say the teacher had inappropriate conversations with the child at school without their permission,” the station reported.

Neither the son nor the parents are revealing their identities, to protect the child’s privacy.

But the mother told the station: “He feels different now, he feels confused. To hear your son say that … on a couch talking to a therapist, holding back tears – it’s very heartbreaking.”

The 8-year-old is a student at Nellie Muir Elementary School.

“The parents said the teacher asked their son if he thought he was a girl multiple times. They say the teacher held the boy back from recess several times to watch videos and read books about being transgender. The parents say the teacher got those materials from one of her transgender friends. The parents say they had no idea these conversations were taking place in April of 2018,” the report said.

The parents only found out what was going on when their son brought home one of the books.

They say the situation was triggered because of a medical condition their son had, for which he asked to use a staff restroom rather than the boys’ room.

Now 9, the boy is taking anxiety medication and going to therapy, the parents explain.

The complaint alleges negligence, false imprisonment and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, pointed out in a Daily Signal column that the new guidelines for students and teachers in California schools include such questioning.

The guidelines even encourage kindergartners to “think about whether they might identify with another gender,” the report said.

“Are you kidding? At that age, they don’t even know what gender is,” Perkins said. “The goal, officials say, is to create ‘an environment that is inclusive and challenges binary concepts about gender.'”

The state intends to ban opt-out choices for the LGBT lessons.

“Now we’re teaching kids how to have a robust sex life? Not everything under the sun needs to be taught to our kids, with no moral judgment,” California Family Council’s Greg Burt said in response to the plan.

Perkins wrote: “Some of you may roll your eyes and dismiss this as ‘just California.’ Don’t be fooled. This same extremism is coming to a classroom near you – and parents need to be equipped and ready to mobilize like these families have. “

(KRCR)  -  Commercial crabbers in Oregon and California are suing 30 fossil fuel companies, claiming they are to blame for climate change which has hurt their industry.

News outlets report the Pacific Coast Federation of Fishermen’s Associations filed the lawsuit last week in California State Superior Court in San Francisco against companies including Chevron and Exxon Mobil.

West Coast crabbers experienced significant losses starting in the 2015-16 season when massive algal blooms caused by warm ocean temperatures resulted in a domoic acid outbreak that reduced the length of the crabbing season.

The season was cut short again in 2016-2017 for the same reason.

(KGW - NBC)  -  A proposal to ban assault weapons and high capacity magazines in Oregon has been submitted as a ballot initiative petition intended to prevent mass shootings.

Filed by an interfaith religious group in Portland, Initiative Petition 42 would also require legal gun owners to surrender or register their assault weapons or face felony charges, according to language released Tuesday.

The group said it aims to get enough signatures to put the measure before voters in the November general election. They would need 88,000 signatures by July 6 to get the measure on the ballot.

The proposal defines an assault weapon as any semiautomatic rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine, and any feature like folding or telescoping stock, or that can accept more than 10 rounds of ammunition.

“A reduction in the availability of assault weapons and large capacity ammunition magazines will promote the public health and safety of the residents of this state,” the initiative petition says.

Military personnel, law enforcement and members of the government could be exempt from the ban.

Gun advocates denounced the proposal, saying it represents an unprecedented attack on the public’s constitutional right to bear arms.

The proposal would require any person in legal possession of an assault weapon to sell, surrender or remove the weapon from the state, or render it inoperable, within 120 days of passage, according to the language.

If eligible, a person could register the assault weapon or high capacity magazine with Oregon State Police, subject to number of requirements (see full text below).

Any violation would be a Class B felony.

“This is completely out of hand — I couldn’t believe it,” Oregon Rep. Bill Post, R-Keizer, told the Statesman Journal Tuesday night. “I’ve been told so many times by people in favor of gun control: ‘no one is coming to take your guns.’ This explicitly comes for your guns.”
