Olivia de Havilland, RIP

Goodbye My Lady
The world is a lesser place without you

By Gary;

My first love just passed away at the age of 104.

Growing up as a kid I was totally taken in (and still am) by the eternal magic of The Adventures of Robin Hood.

The movie is perhaps the perfect blend of great acting, music, script, adventure, comedy and action with the greatest of all love stories.

The Lady Marian was my first love. Beautiful, strong and noble. Her love story with Robin has been passed down through the centuries.

My Lady stood toe to toe, fearless against the evil Sir Guy of Gisbourne (Basil Rathbone) and the scheming Prince John (Claude Rains).

Then there is the final battle with Robin fighting side by side with Richard the Lionheart to liberate England. Then Richard blesses the wedding of my Lady to Robin while banishing all the evils of the kingdom with a few words.

The classic Hollywood ending. . . . . and they lived happily ever after . . . . . never mind in real history Prince John became King. We suspend our disbelief and live in the fantasy world.

Thank you Marian for the joy you brought to my life.

Farewell my Lady.

That horse she's riding in Robin Hood was probably on more footage of film than the rest of the actors in the movie. That's Roy Roger's Trigger...
