Police State  -  Fascist Democrat Colorado Senate President John Morse's new bill may determine how far Democrats are willing to go on gun control.

Morse's bill, which would hold makers and sellers of assault-style weapons liable for the crimes committed with the guns, was rolled out Wednesday, weeks after the introduction of four other gun-related bills, all of which passed the Democrat-controlled House.

Those bills are now headed to the Senate reports the Denver Post.

But it's unclear whether Senate Bill 196, which Morse has labeled the Assault Weapon Responsibility Act, will have the same momentum behind it as the House's package.

Democrats hold a 20-15 advantage in the state Senate and need 18 votes to pass a bill.

DENVER (CBS4) – A popular hunting shotgun could be banned by Democrats under one of the bills moving through the state Capitol.

A pump or semi-automatic shotgun is the gun most hunters in Colorado use. It’s a gun state Sen. Greg Brophy, R-Wray, says could be banned under a bill that’s already passed the House and Gov. John Hickenlooper says he’ll sign.

“They’re coming after the standard shotgun,” Brophy told CBS4 Political Specialist Shaun Boyd.

Brophy says if Democrats succeed in passing a bill limiting large capacity magazines in Colorado, they’ll outlaw the most popular selling firearm for hunting reports CBS News.

“Hundreds of thousands of pheasant hunters are probably going to be carrying around a gun they won’t be able to replace after July 1 this year,” he said.

Brophy points to a section of the bill that defines a high-capacity magazine as one capable of accepting or — that can be readily converted — to accept more than 15 rounds or eight shotgun shells.

David Cameron has insisted the Tories can "win people back" after a disastrous result in the Eastleigh by-election saw the party beaten into third by UKIP.

The Prime Minister attempted to shrug off the severe blow by calling a huge surge in support for the eurosceptic party a mid-term "protest".


"It's disappointing for the Conservative Party but we must remain true to our principles, true to our course, and that way we can win people back," he said.

But the terrible result in a constituency which is among the Conservatives' top targets to win back from the Lib Dems will increase fears of defeat in 2015.

Lib Dem local councillor Mike Thornton managed to hold the seat vacated by disgraced Cabinet minister Chris Huhne despite a torrid week for his party.

Nick Clegg said the "stunning" result proved "we can be a party of government and still win".

"We held our nerve, we stood our ground. We overcame the odds and won a stunning victory," he said, standing alongside Mr Thornton in the constituency.

The Conservatives' third place, which was despite major campaigning by senior figures, will increase tensions on the backbenches and at the grass roots.

There will be concern that Mr Cameron's pledge to hold a referendum on EU membership if the Tories stay in power has not curbed UKIP's rise.

Comrade Secretary of State John Kerry on Thursday announced the first direct U.S. "aid" to Syrian opposition fighters (Islamists).  The regime claims that the more-than-$60-million package will not include the arms or high-tech gear the rebels.  What is not mentioned is U.S. that allies are doing that for us with our blessing and help.

Comrade Kerry said the United States would supply food rations and medical supplies to the military wing of the opposition and $60 million to its political arm to help provide basic government services in the areas controlled by forces opposed to President Bashar Assad reports the Los Angeles Times.

Appearing in Rome at an international conference on Syria, Kerry called the new aid a "significant stepping up" of assistance by the United States and promised that, combined with aid from other countries, it would help change Assad's belief that he can remain in power. As many as 70,000 people have died during the nearly two-year war, according to the United Nations.

The U.S. previously gave $54 million in aid to the political opposition and $385 million in humanitarian assistance to Syrian refugees.

Islamist Saudi Arabia has financed a large purchase of infantry weapons from Croatia and quietly funneled them to anti government Islamists fighters in Syria.

The weapons began reaching rebels in December via shipments shuttled through Jordan, officials said, and have been a factor in the rebels’ small tactical gains this winter against the army and militias loyal to Assad.

Persian Gulf Arab nations have been sending military equipment and other assistance to the rebels for more than a year.
      

The arms transfers appeared to signal a shift among several governments to a more activist approach to assisting Syria’s armed opposition, in part as an effort to counter shipments of weapons from Iran to Mr. Assad’s forces. The weapons’ distribution has been principally to armed groups viewed as nationalist and secular, and appears to have been intended to bypass the jihadist groups whose roles in the war have alarmed Western and regional powers. reports the New York Times.

Many of the weapons — which include a particular type of Yugoslav-made recoilless gun, as well as assault rifles, grenade launchers, machine guns, mortars and shoulder-fired rockets for use against tanks and other armored vehicles — have been extensively documented by one blogger, Eliot Higgins, who writes under the name Brown Moses and has mapped the new weapons’ spread through the conflict.

      

He first noticed the Yugoslav weapons in early January in clashes in the Dara’a region near Jordan, but by February he was seeing them in videos posted by rebels fighting in the Hama, Idlib and Aleppo regions.

      

Officials familiar with the transfers said the arms were part of an undeclared surplus in Croatia remaining from the 1990s Balkan wars. One Western official said the shipments included “thousands of rifles and hundreds of machine guns” and an unknown quantity of ammunition.

      

Croatia’s Foreign Ministry and arms-export agency naturally denied that such shipments had occurred. Saudi officials have declined requests for interviews about the shipments for two weeks. Jordanian officials also declined to comment.

An official in Washington said the possibility of the transfers from the Balkans was broached last summer, when a senior Croatian official visited Washington and suggested to American officials that Croatia had many weapons available should anyone be interested in moving them to Syria’s rebels.

Both Ukrainian-made rifle cartridges that had been purchased by Saudi Arabia and Swiss-made hand grenades that had been provided to the United Arab Emirates were found by journalists to be in rebel possession.
      

And Belgian-made rifles of a type not known to have been purchased by Syria’s military have been repeatedly seen in rebel hands, suggesting that one of Belgium’s previous rifle customers had transferred the popular weapons to the rebels.

Jutarnji list, a Croatian daily newspaper, reported Saturday that in recent months there had been an unusually high number of sightings of Jordanian cargo planes at Pleso Airport in Zagreb, Croatia’s capital.
      

The newspaper said the United States, Croatia’s main political and military ally, was possibly the intermediary, and mentioned four sightings at Pleso Airport of Ilyushin 76 aircraft owned by Jordan International Air Cargo. It said such aircraft had been seen on Dec. 14 and 23, Jan. 6 and Feb. 18. Ivica Nekic, director of the agency in charge of arms exports in Croatia, dismissed the Croatian report as speculation.

China unveils new stealth missile frigate

China releases details of a new stealth missile frigate. It’s part of a military modernization process amid ongoing tensions over Beijing's maritime claims in the region.

The first ship of the Type 056 Jiangdao class frigates was handed over to China’s People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) in Shanghai, home to one of the country's largest naval shipyards.

The stealth frigate Number 586 is a new design with sloped surfaces made as clean as possible, it also has reduced superstructure clutter. It features advanced technologies that will make it harder to detect by radar, visual, sonar, and infrared methods, the Chinese navy said at their website.

China's brand new vessel is armed with a 76-mm main gun based on the Russian AK-176 and 30-mm remote weapon systems. The main anti-ship armament consists of YJ-83 sea-skimming anti-ship cruise missiles in two twin-cell launchers. The primary anti-aircraft armament is one FL-3000N short range missile system with eight rounds. The ship is fitted with a helicopter deck at the stern but has no organic helicopter support facilities reports RT News.

At 1,440 tons fully loaded, this frigate cruises at an estimated 28 knots and has about a 2,000 nautical mile range.

It is considerably smaller than US Navy frigates, about 95.5 meters in length, and is categorized as smaller class of ships known as corvettes.

The ship requires a crew of just 60, one-third the number needed for it its predecessor the Type 053H3 frigate. This brings advantages in efficiency, easier training and recruitment.

Nineteen more frigates of the class are planned to be built for the PLA Navy.

The Type 056 class frigate fleet will boost the PLAN’s ability to defend its territory by patrolling and guarding the waters. It will have the ability to conduct anti-submarine operations and operations against all marine targets.

PLAN forces entered “the new era of mass-production and upgrade in an orderly manner” officials say on the PLAN's website.

The Chinese navy now has about 80 major surface warships including its first aircraft carrier, the Liaoning, which was based on the Soviet ship the ‘Varyag’. After the Soviet Union collapsed the ‘Varyag’ ended up in Ukraine. In 1998 China bought it without an engine or weapons and spent years refurbishing it for research and training purposes.

The Pentagon estimates China also deploys more than 50 submarines, about 50 landing ships and more than 80 missile attack boats, Reuters reports.

Police State  -  After graduating from Appalachian State University more than two decades ago, Eustace Conway decided to take a crack at Henry Thoreau’s philosophy of getting back to nature – that is, of living “deliberately.”

 

“I live in a much different way and I’m glad for it,” Conway told Fox 8 WGHP-TV.

 

He purchased some land outside Boone, N.C., built up his property, and has been using his “nature school” to teach hundreds of people how to live closer to nature ever since.

 

His lifestyle became so notorious, in fact, that he has been featured on The History Channel’s “Mountain Men.

Living off the land offers Eustace Conway freedom but it's also incredibly hard. He eats 5,000 calories a day just to maintain his weight and healthy energy levels.

 

 

But in 2012, citing safety regulations, county officials decided they need to shut down the noted naturalist’s school.

 

“Basically, I’m living like the American heritage pattern of all of our ancestors and the modern world isn’t. They don’t know how to accept me,” Conway said.

 

The county issued Conway a cease and desist order, saying his property wasn’t up to code.

 

“This is supposed to be the land of the free,” he said, “government is supposed to help people [and] protect their individual liberties and freedom. That’s not what’s happening here.”

 

“My gosh,” he added, “This is the country that I pledge allegiance to?”

 

The county argues that it is only doing its duty protecting public health and safety, the Fox affiliate notes, and says his “nature school” can continue – but only after it meets the county’s standards.

 

Problem is, to meet said standards, Conway’s “nature school” would cease to be, well, natural.

 

Also, the county’s demands are a little strange considering that after all this time (26 years) and several inspections, it has suddenly decided his property is a hazard.

Legal medical businesses that are not "approved" by the all-powerful centralized Federal Big Brother state are hit with income tax rates of up to 75%

• Under the Bill of Rights a state has the right to make their own local laws without the other 49 states ganging up on them through a dictatorial Federal government.
• Major banks avoid working with those in the legal marijuana industry, because they fear Federal agencies will charge them with drug racketeering and money laundering.

Both Conservatives and Liberals should stand up against unconstitutional Federal attacks on the legal medical marijuana industry using the IRS as a political weapon to beat the states into submission with income tax rates of up to 75%.

The hefty levy is the result of a 1982 provision to the tax code, known as 280E, that stemmed from a successful attempt by a convicted drug trafficker to claim his yacht, weapons and bribes as businesses expenses, according to 280E Reform, a group working to overturn the statute.

Enacted in the wake of that PR debacle, the rule bars those selling illegal substances from deducting related expenses on their Federal income taxes reports CNN Money.
                                          
It may have been effective against cocaine dealers and smugglers of other drugs, but the law now means purveyors of medical marijuana in the 18 states that have legalized the drug can't can't take typical things like rent or payroll as a business expense. That's taking a heavy toll on this new field.

"I'd personally love to give my employees a raise," said Kayvan Khalatbari, co-owner of Denver Relief, a medical marijuana center in its namesake city. "But because of the industry we're in, that's not always possible."


Khalatbari said Denver Relief does just over $1 million a year in sales, and that not being able to take some standard business deductions costs him tens of thousands of dollars annually. He estimates his effective federal tax rate is about 50%.
                                          
For Denver Relief -- one of the largest marijuana dispensaries in Colorado, with a full-time staff of 15 -- the burden isn't killing the business. But for others, it's been lethal.
                             
Jim Marty, an accountant in Colorado specializing in medicinal marijuana tax law, said he has one client that didn't turn a profit in 2009, 2010 or 2011. In 2012, though, she was handed a $300,000 tax bill from the IRS for those three proceeding years.
                                          
Entrepreneurs whose businesses are legal under state laws are getting hammered by outdated federal tax rules.
                                          
"If you have a license from the state hanging on your wall, that doesn't fit the definition of trafficking," Marty said. "Yet the IRS is aggressively auditing this industry."
                                          
He said he often sees clients facing effective tax bills of 65% to 75%. That compares to 15% to 30% for businesses in general.
                                          
The Internal Revenue Service did not respond to a request for comment.

In a letter to a congressman in 2011, the agency said it was merely enforcing the law, and that Congress needs to change the law if it does not want medicinal marijuana dealers caught up in the provision.

“But the normal situation is for you to take money from the kuffar.

Figures obtained by The Sun in 2010 showed the extremist cleric received £15,600 a year in housing benefit to keep him in a £320,000 house in Leytonstone, East London.

You cannot sleep under the same blanket as another man, this sort of thing. We need to know our relationship with inanimate objects. You cannot cut a tree without going to the hellfire.”

At the third meeting the Sun infiltrated, again in Slough, he insisted Islam was taking over Europe.

He said: “Now we are taking over Birmingham and populating it.

“Brussels is 30 per cent, 40 per cent Muslim and Amsterdam. Bradford is 17 per cent Muslim.
