Justice League

Better Late Than Never
DC Comics finally catches up with Marvel's The Avengers

By Gary;

Well it could have been worse.

It was nice to see Loki back in the Justice League.

Wait. In spite of the pointy helmet that wasn't Loki. This is DC. Could have fooled me though.

DC was running light years behind Marvel so to give audiences what they wanted (Loki) they turned to another ancient God named Steppenwolf. It is purely an "accident" I am sure, but Steppenwolf (DC) and Loki (Marvel) were both Gods created by Jack Kirby.

I am sure it was also and "accident" that the Justice League appeared to steal Marvel's infinity stones plot line and substitute magic power boxes.

The dragonfly type support villains were OK at best. But I expected the Wicked Witch of the West to scream out "Fly my pretties, fly" at some point.

But enough of me pissing on the creative process.

At to the movie. It is a jumble of way too many characters, most of which have no meaningful role in the movie. It also took way too long to introduce everyone.

Once you got past the fluff/excessive characters the action scenes were good.

  • Wonder Woman shined as the best character.
  • Batman did well.
  • Aquaman was better than expected. He needs much more screen time to put together his Wolverine-style bad ass persona.
  • The Flash as comic relief was a welcome change.
  • Cyborg?!?!? Really, who the Hell cares? Kill him off or at least send him to the phantom zone.

Once things finally got going the Justice League became a solid popcorn action flick.

I would say the plot/acting were far weaker than any of the Avenger outings.

I did enjoy the film enough to look forward to Justice League 2.

Rating - 7 out of 10
