The Militarization of America's Police

Defense Department gives local police
equipment designed for a war zone

The Defense Department recently announced it would be giving domestic law enforcement forces hulking vehicles designed to efficiently maneuver in a war zone for use in thwarting any potential high-scale activity.

This did not sit well with those who see a troubling trend: the militarization of local police departments, including the American Civil Liberties Union, which has criticized the Defense Department for giving 18-ton, $500,000 armor-protected military fighting vehicles to local forces.

An Associated Press investigation of the Defense Department military surplus program this year found that a disproportionate share of the $4.2 billion worth of property.

Ohio State University campus police got one vehicle, saying they would use it in large-scale emergencies and to provide a police presence on football game days. Others went to police in High Springs, Fla., and the sheriff's office in Dallas County, Texas.

1914 Cometh - Will there be War with China?

Shades of 1914
  • China pushes their "territory" deep into the open ocean and the US sends B-52 to fly next to China.
  • The more things change the more they stay the same.  Proud nations strut their power in an attempt to intimidate others and make them back down so they can claim territory.
  • I am sure the fact there are oil and gas reserves in the East China Sea has nothing to do with the actions by Japan, China and the US.

Yep, it is "The Territorial Imperative" all over again.  Man is little more than an animal, lifting his leg and spraying, seeking to control his feeding grounds.

Now we are seeing some militaristic Jingoist responses from people in China to the US B-52 incursion.  We all know too well that Jingoism and brinkmanship can take you down roads we do not want.

Chinese citizens vented angrily on the country’s Twitter-like Sina Weibo microblogging platform as news broke of U.S. B-52 bombers flying over disputed East China Sea islands claimed by China. But they reserved some of their harshest contempt for their military’s apparent inability to respond.

Wilhelm II
German Emperor; King of Prussia
Wild talk about borders. national "pride" &
brinkmanship on all sides started World
War I resulting in over 37 million casualties.
“China just announced its air defense identification zone and the B-52s from US just drove straight into it, ignoring China’s statement,” Bei Cun, a novelist and screenplay writer, wrote on his verified Sina blog. “This is pretty embarrassing for China. But guess what China will do? My guess would be… ‘to solemnly protest and try to negotiate.’”

The U.S. sent the two bombers over the islands, called the Senkakus by Japan and Diaoyu Islands by China, across Beijing’s newly declared air defense identification zone Tuesday morning. Defying rules unilaterally set by China, the U.S. mission didn’t inform Beijing about the flight, U.S. officials said in the Wall Street Journal.

A U.S. official said there was no attempt by the Chinese military to contact the B-52s. A Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman said China has the capacity to protect its own territory, state television reported Wednesday.

On China’s microblogs, which have become a forum for expressing opinions in an otherwise tightly controlled public space, there was anger aplenty. “We should dispatch a plane to their air defense zone to do a round!” a blogger called Ant 9634 wrote.

But any outrage over the U.S. move was underlined by a sense of disgruntlement over Beijing’s haplessness.

“The problem is that we are blind on defense of the ground and air,” a blogger named Qiu Wenyan wrote. “We pay so much taxes to nurture (the military), we can’t let them stay at home all day.”

Propaganda from all sides painted
the "enemy" as not human.
“This sort of outrageous act supports Japan and allows the U.S. to save its own face,” Fan Jianchuan, a Sichuan Province member of a national advisory body to China’s legislature, wrote on his verified blog. “The People’s Liberation Army can’t seem to strongly react. How do we manage this? This really needs wisdom and courage.” Perhaps tellingly, Mr. Fan used a Chinese word for “courage” that included the character for “blood.”

Others deployed a range of Chinese proverbs to goad the government toward a tougher reaction. “When two people confront each other on a narrow road, the braver one wins,” a blogger calling himself Wild Puppet wrote.

Some of the reaction on Weibo also called out the Chinese military, suggesting that Beijing sparked the latest flashpoint on a decades-old bilateral dispute.

“The immediate reaction (from U.S.) with both words and action shows the adventurism in China’s decision over the air defense zone, and the passive and embarrassing consequence resulting from that,” Pan Jiazhu, a well-known columnist on military issues who goes by Zhao Chu on his verified Weibo account, wrote.

“Military hardliners created this situation and made a no-fly zone, thinking they can play with little Japan, which has brought out U.S. bombers and slapped hardliners in the face,” art and culture critic Wu Zuolai wrote. “Where’s the hardliners’ spokesman? How do we end this?”

As of Wednesday morning, the government – which regularly censors politically sensitive issues on microblogging platforms – doesn’t appear yet to have yanked any of the commentary or foreign coverage of it.

Responding to questions about the zone on an official state website, a defence ministry spokesman, Yang Yujun, said China set up the area "with the aim of safeguarding state sovereignty, territorial land and air security, and maintaining flight order".

Poll - Ronald Reagan is the greatest, Obama the worst

There Was No Contest
Comrade Obama is forced to eat Ronald Reagan's dust.

Former President Ronald Reagan has edged out Franklin D. Roosevelt and John F. Kennedy as the nation’s greatest president in over a century, and President Obama was rated the biggest failure by a sizable margin over George W. Bush, Richard Nixon and Jimmy Carter, according to a new poll.

The YouGov/Economist rankings just released found that more adults, 32 percent, put “the Gipper” in the “great” category. Of the 1,000 polled, FDR followed at 31 percent and JFK at 30 percent. Just 14 percent rated Obama as great says the Washington Examiner.

Instead, 37 percent graded Obama a “failure,” more than Bush at 32 percent, Nixon at 30 percent and Jimmy Carter at 22 percent.

The survey looked at presidents since Theodore Roosevelt, the first of the 20th century. Those surveyed were asked to rate each president in six categories: great, near great, average, below average, failure, and don’t know.

Presidents Rated "Great" in Poll
Of Presidents since 1900 only eight in the poll recorded double digits as being great.
.
Scoring the highest as "Great" was Ronald Reagan with 32% followed in descending order by FDR, Kennedy, Clinton, Theodore Roosevelt, Truman, Eisenhower and then Obama.

Obama in yet another attack on free speech

Freedom of Speech Frightens Obama
The Obama administration is determined to further
limit the free speech of Americans.

The Obama administration on Tuesday moved to rein in the “dark money” groups that have spent millions of dollars in political campaigns without disclosing their donors.

In draft guidance to be issued by Treasury and the IRS, the administration proposes new standards for tax-exempt groups like the Karl Rove-linked Crossroads GPS.

“This proposed guidance is a first critical step toward creating clear-cut definitions of political activity by tax-exempt social welfare organizations,” said Mark Mazur, Treasury’s assistant secretary for tax policy reports The Hill.

The move springs directly from the controversy over IRS targeting of Tea Party groups, which began after compliance officers singled out political groups seeking tax-exempt status for extra scrutiny.

What part of "Congress shall make no law"
do these bastards not understand.

The guidance, if adopted, would make clear that the promotion of social welfare — the stated purpose of so-called 501(c)(4) groups — does not include “candidate-related political activity.” At the same time, the administration is asking for input on how much social welfare work a group must engage in to qualify for 501(c)(4) status.

That could have major ramifications for the political nonprofits.

Under the proposed rules, groups with the exemption couldn't count political advertisements, participating in "get-out-the-vote" or voter registration drives or holding events involving candidates as "social welfare" work.

Acting IRS Commissioner Danny Werfel said the new draft guidance, to be published later Tuesday in the Federal Register, is intended to clear up ambiguity in the law.

“This is part of ongoing efforts within the IRS that are improving our work in the tax-exempt area,” Werfel said in a statement. “Once final, this proposed guidance will continue moving us forward and provide clarity for this important segment of exempt organizations.”

But groups with Tea Party links — like the American Center for Law and Justice — panned the rules as a diversion, and accused the Obama administration of starting "a new front in its war against political dissent."

“This is a feeble attempt by the Obama administration to justify its own wrong-doing with the IRS targeting of conservative and Tea Party groups,” said Jay Sekulow, ACLJ’s chief counsel.

“Instead of holding those responsible for the unlawful targeting scheme accountable for their actions, the Obama administration is determined to further limit the free speech of Americans by attempting to change constitutional practices that are decades old.”

Top Republicans on Capitol Hill accused the Obama administration of a rush to judgment, and of preempting congressional investigations into IRS targeting.

“Before rushing forward with new rules, especially ones that appear to make it harder to engage in public debate, I would hope Treasury would let all the facts come out first — something they could achieve by fully cooperating with Congress in the investigation,” House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp (R-Mich.) said.

Sen. Orrin Hatch (Utah), the top Republican on the Finance Committee, chided the administration for releasing the new guidance before a bipartisan Senate investigation into the targeting of Tea Party groups came to a close.

Hell on Wheels renewed for a 'Super-Sized' Season 4

The Return of the Western
AMC has been on a roll with "Breaking Bad",
"Mad Men" and the "Walking Dead".

Once the bread and butter of Hollywood, the Western has fallen on tough times for decades.  Today movie and TV audiences appear to favor spies, fucking lawyers, aliens and zombies.

Don't get me wrong I love a good end of the world alien flick as much as the next guy.  But I also love the classic Western genre that represents all it means to be an American.

I must give credit to American Movie Classics for creating the Western show Hell on Wheels.

The show provides the gritty realism of what the west must have really felt like:  crooked politicians, greedy businessmen, racism, bravery, hard working immigrants, murder and more.  Great acting and solid scripts combined with history and realism.  Bravo AMC.

The ratings were not what AMC wanted so they shipped the show off to Saturday night for a swift and painful death.  But a funny thing happened, millions the show's fans followed the series over to Saturday night.

Hell on Wheels laughed at the Saturday night death time slot.

The series’ recently-concluded third season averaged 3.3 million viewers, a surprisingly strong number considering its shift to the TV graveyard known as Saturday night. To reward its solid performance, AMC has expanded Season 4 (coming next summer) to 13 episodes — up from 10 for the first three seasons reports TV Line.

“AMC has served passionate Western fans for three decades, so it is particularly gratifying to see these viewers capping off their Saturdays with an original Western on what has historically been a tough night of the week for television,” noted AMC president Charlie Collier in a statement. ”Our commitment to the genre is unwavering and we look forward to continuing to super-serve this audience with an expanded fourth season of Hell on Wheels.”

4th grade textbook - Whites are ractist for opposing Obama

Socialist Common Core "Education"
The Federally funded brainwashing of our children.

Parents in Duplo, Ill., are up in arms over a book portraying white Americans as racist –
required reading for their fourth-graders under the Common Core curriculum.

Students at Bluffview Elementary School were told they would be tested and graded on the book, “Barack Obama,” part of the Scholastic “Reading Counts” program, according to EAGNews. The author, Jane Sutcliffe, has written numerous books on other historical figures, such as George Washington, Ronald Reagan and Susan B. Anthony reports BizPac Review.

The book begins with Obama’s life as a child, referring to him as “Barry,” and frequently mentions that he was “the only black” in various settings, a situation that caused a bit of an identity crisis for him, according to this passage:
When Barry looked in the mirror, he saw a young black man. But he didn’t know how to be black. And no one was there to teach him.
He decided to act like the black characters he saw on TV. He started acting tough. He cursed. Was that what it meant to be black?
As he got older, he started smoking and drinking. He tried drugs. Was that what it meant to be black?
The biography refers to Obama’s candidacy in the 2008 presidential election this way:
But some people said Americans weren’t ready for that much change. Sure Barack was a nice fellow, they said. But white voters would never vote for a black president. Other angry voices were raised. Barack’s former pastor called the country a failure. God would damn the United States for mistreating its black citizens, he said.
Attention centered on the book after it was mentioned by a Facebook page, “Moms Against Duncan (MAD)” that organized earlier this month in opposition to U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan’s comments about “white suburban moms” and Common Core.  The group’s page says:
We are trying to be not only a pushback to Duncan but also a group of action. We are asking every mom (and the guys too!) to actively recruit parents to opt out of all testing.
We only need 10% of students from every school to refuse Arne’s tests. This will corrupt the data, protect the teachers and begin the shut down of Common Core!! Moms, this can be done! Let’s show Arne what REAL mom pushback looks like!
The group has attracted over 4,000 members so far.

John Kerry - "We have peace with Iran in our time."

John Kerry  -  AP File Photo
.
"We have peace with Iran in our time."
  • The West will pay Iran $7 Billion to be nice to us.

Why is it that I smell the aroma of Bullshit in the air?

The West has been negotiating with Iran over nuclear weapons for years and years.  And now that Comrade Obama is immersed in the giant clusterfuck of Obamacare the US "magically" comes to an agreement with Iran at this exact moment to help Obama in the polls.

I many ways I don't blame Iran for wanting nukes.  I have written on this Blog how Iran has been invaded over and over again by their neighbors, Russia and the British.  They live in a tough neighborhood and with nukes people will leave you alone.

The problem is religious fanatics having nukes so they can enter Allah's heaven faster and can get laid by their virgins.  Not good to say the least.

My worry is under the table "side deals" that a desperate Kerry did with Iran that none of us will ever know about.

One nervous neighbor is Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who sees himself as playing a similar role to Winston Churchill, and is thus willing to take an uncompromising stand for what he sees as right and necessary, however unpopular it may be.

"What was achieved last night in Geneva is not an historic agreement; it is an historic mistake,”  Netanyahu told his cabinet, criticizing the world’s leading powers for easing the sanctions on Iran in exchange for “cosmetic Iranian concessions that can be cancelled in weeks.”

While Israel had tentatively supported a diplomatic deal on Iran if coupled with sanctions, this agreement essentially only freezes rather than dismantles the Iranian nuclear military infrastructure and offers close to $7 billion in "sweeteners,"  says Efraim Inbar, director of the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies at Bar Ilan University.

“It’s a very disappointing deal," he says, citing rollbacks in Libya and Syria’s nuclear programs as closer to what Israel would have liked.

Israeli leaders made clear that an Israeli military strike is still possible, though President Shimon Peres struck a somewhat more conciliatory tone.

“I would like to say to the Iranian people: You are not our enemies and we are not yours. There is a possibility to solve this issue diplomatically. It is in your hands,” he said, calling on Iran to stop the nuclear program as well as the development of long-range missiles. “… if the diplomatic path fails, the nuclear option will be prevented by other means. The alternative is far worse."

Neville Chamberlain - Peace in our Time

Meanwhile Back in Iran
American politicians and our military always underestimate the power and fervor of People's Revolutions.

The revolutionary colonists in America fought the British to a standstill.  The 1790s revolutionaries in France swept away their own government and most of Europe.  The revolutionary Red Chinese Army fought America to a draw in Korea.  The Vietnamese were never beaten by the American military.  And both Iraq and Afghanistan show how religious inspired guerrilla tactics are almost unbeatable.

Mark Zuckerberg says immigration is a "Civil Right" - and cheap labor is good too!

Bullshit Alert
Another Billionaire for Poverty . . . Your Poverty.

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg said Sunday that U.S. immigration reform is “one of the biggest civil rights issues of our time.”

Shit.  Now illegal and legal immigration is a fucking "Civil Right".

The 29-year-old billionaire, who has recently taken a more active role in calling for immigration reform, made the comment on ABC’s “This Week.” And he was immediately challenged by the interviewer, who suggested many Americans would likely disagree that providing a path to citizenship for some of the 11 million people living in this country illegally is a civil rights issue.

“There are a lot of misconceptions about that,” Zuckerberg responded. “A lot of them came here because they just want to work. They want to help out their families and they want to contribute,” reports Fox News.

Zuckerberg recently founded the group FWD.us with other Silicon Valley leaders “to promote policies to keep the United States and its citizens competitive in a global economy,” according to its website.

FWD.us’ key points include securing borders, the path to citizenship and support for issuing more H-1B visas.

The group argues the change will “attract the world’s best and the brightest workers.”

However, skeptics argue that allowing U.S. employers to "temporarily" hire more educated foreign workers for skilled jobs or “specialty occupations” in such fields as technology and engineering allows companies like Facebook to hire lower-paid immigrants over college-educated Americans.

Americans Need Jobs
Billionaire assholes like Zuckerberg want to import and legalize countless millions of new workers from foreign nations to compete with Americans for a limited number of jobs and drive wages down.
.
Both political parties join with Zuckerberg in this madness.  The Democrats in order to recruit new poor voters and the GOP to serve their Masters in the business community looking for cheap labor.  Both parties could care less about the under and unemployed American citizen.

Real Unemployment is 23%
The seasonally-adjusted SGS Alternate Unemployment Rate (the blue line) reflects current unemployment reporting methodology adjusted for SGS-estimated long-term discouraged workers, who were defined out of official existence in 1994. That estimate is added to the BLS estimate of U-6 unemployment, which includes short-term discouraged workers.
.
The U-3 unemployment rate is the monthly headline number. The U-6 unemployment rate is the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ (BLS) broadest unemployment measure, including short-term discouraged and other marginally-attached workers as well as those forced to work part-time because they cannot find full-time employment.

Muslims want websites critical of Islam censored

The Religion of Peace in Malaysia

Muslim Internet Censorship
Under Islam there is no freedom of religion, freedom
of speech or freedom of thought.

The Federal Department of Islamic Development (Jakim) urged Putrajaya in its Friday sermon to consider internet censorship to stop attacks against Islam.

The sermon stated that given the challenges posed by anti-Islam groups through information technology, it was important that the Muslim community used whatever reasonable strategy available including social media to counter, answer and ward off the propaganda of the enemies of Islam.

“Muslims must be kept updated on current developments so that we get accurate information and not be influenced by enemy propaganda" reports the Malaysian Digest.

“You all can also use new media such as YouTube, Twitter and blogs as mediums to send out the right message and spread the teachings of Islam."

Muslims rally against Malaysian Christians

Malaysian Muslims destroy Buddhist Statue and Temple

“While Muslims are working at strengthening the economy and the Malay race, the enemies have not slackened for a minute to run their mission to destroy Islam by using whatever strategy possible, including cyber troopers,” said Jakim in the sermon.

The Islamic body said it was required of Muslims to identify the agenda designed to erode the sanctity of Islam and to also identify those who attempted to do so.

Jakim warned that the international line of thinking, such as liberalism and pluralism, seems to be spreading fast via the internet and influencing the younger generation.

“They are launching calculated attacks by spreading news which insults Islam through the use of symbols and in social media such as Facebook and Twitter.

"From our observations, many symbols and hundreds of websites on the internet are being used to confuse and weaken those of the Islamic faith."

Jakim also warned that the use of websites to weaken the faith of Muslims was the cunning strategy of the enemies of Islam that had succeeded in bringing down a few countries in the Middle East.

Last week, Islamic NGO Pertubuhan Martabat Jalinan Muhibbah Malaysia lodged a police report against a Facebook account owner for allegedly insulting Islam.

Its chairman Abdul Rani Kulup Abdullah had said the report was lodged against the account owner, who used the name Adlin Abd Jalil, for displaying a picture of a grilled pig with the words "Allah" and "Muhammad", as well as the Jakim's halal logo on it on the posting.

In his police report, Abdul Rani urged the Home Ministry, Jakim and the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission to look into the matter and take stern action against the account owner.
