NEWS AND VIEWS THAT IMPACT LIMITED CONSTITUTIONAL GOVERNMENT
"There is danger from all men. The only maxim of a free government ought to be to trust no man living with
power to endanger the public liberty." - - - - John Adams
The Disney media machine is starting to go in high gear. Over the next year we are going to be force fed a steady diet of Star Wars VII film set leaks and info-tainment disguised as news with the goal of separating you from your money.
"This is the film you are looking for," the media will tell us.
But with steely resolve I scream out "Just say no to Disney."
I still have not forgiven George Lucas for fucking up the original Star Wars movie by re-doing music and scenes. Screw 'em. The classics must stand. You don't re-edit Casablanca or The Searchers.
Now we are to be "force" fed a very tired geriatric cast long past their prime. But worse, we must watch Princess Leia and Han Solo's children go off in some adventures. Gag me.
The Star Wars magic is mostly gone. Today it is all about quarterly profit projections for Disney.
I am old enough to say that my friends and I were there for the modern re-birth of Science Fiction-Adventure films.
On opening night we were there in the mile long lines to see this new fangled "Star Wars" movie and were blown away.
We made regular pilgrimages to opening nights at the Chinese Theater in Hollywood or in Westwood to see the new classics: Alien, Terminator, Predator, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Blade Runner, Superman, Escape From New York, The Thing and so many more.
Then these movies were fresh, new and exciting. But today a George Lucas, long out of ideas, is just beating dead story lines in order to generate more cash for his empire.
Thank God a new generation of film makers has come forward.

Bi-Partisan Support for Islamists
I repeat myself again, if Russia and Iran are arming the governments of Syria and Iraq then who is left on the playing field to fund and arm the Islamist armies?
A simple process of elimination says the CIA and our allies have created the Islamist threat.
Steven Sotloff, the American journalist murdered by Islamic State militants last week, was sold to the terrorist organization by supposedly moderate rebels in Syria, a family spokesman told CNN on Monday night.
"For the first time, we can say Steven was sold at the border. Steven's name was on a list that he had been responsible for the bombing of a hospital," Barak Barfi said on "Anderson Cooper 360." "This was false, activists spread his name around."
"We believe that these so-called moderate rebels that people want our administration to support, one of them sold him probably for something between $25,000 and $50,000 to ISIS, and that was the reason he was captured," Barfi told Cooper says the Huffington Post.
Barfi credited "sources on the ground" for providing the information, including details of the capture.
"Somebody at the border crossing made a phone call to ISIS and they set up a fake checkpoint with many people and Steven and his people that he went in with could not escape," he said.
Barfi also described relations between the Sotloff family and the Obama administration as "strained," and railed against what he called "inaccurate statements" put out by the U.S. government.
"We know that the intelligence community and the White House are enmeshed in a larger game of bureaucratic infighting and Jim and Steve are pawns in this game and that's not fair and if there continues to be leaks the Sotloff family will have to speak out to set the record straight," he said.
"Jim" refers to James Foley, an American photojournalist also murdered by Islamic State militants. Islamic State is sometimes referred to as ISIS or ISIL.
Both Foley and Sotloff were beheaded by the terrorists, who released videos of the killings online.
A Florida small business owner said Monday the city of Ocala has threatened to fine him if he does not immediately take down a Gadsden flag currently displayed outside his store.
Gear Barrel owner Keith Greenberg told TheBlaze that the city said he was permitted to fly the American flag outside his store, but prohibited from displaying anything else outside his business which specializes in selling knives.
“This is a shock,” he said. “Honestly, I feel like this is Russia. I’ve been around the world … this is what you expect in really closed countries where there is no freedom of expression. Not here — so it’s shocking,” reports the Blaze.
The flying of the flag appears to be prohibited under the city code of ordinance, section 110-131.
Greenberg told TheBlaze he faces being fined up to $250-$500 per day if he does not comply. He said the potential fines would be devastating to his young small business, which he opened in May.
“The city of Ocala is demanding I take this down,” he told TheBlaze.
Greenberg posted a video to YouTube earlier this month trying to raise awareness of the move being made by the city.
“We find ourselves in a sad place where local municipalities are stepping all over people’s freedom with the signing of a pen,” he said.
Greenberg told TheBlaze he was even more perplexed by the city’s demands because he has spotted other flags being flown at nearby establishments.
Photographs forwarded to TheBlaze show an Ocala car dealership flying the Mexican flag and an Irish bar displaying the Irish flag. It was not clear whether or not the city had also issued similar notices to the other businesses.
The company that runs the conservative Breitbart.com news site says the IRS has selected the network for an audit, in a move company executives suggest is politically motivated.
Breitbart News Network, a California-based company which runs several conservative websites, says the IRS recently audited its 2012 financial information.
"The Obama administration's timing on this is exquisite, but try as they might through various methods to silence us, we will only get more emboldened,” Stephen K. Bannon, executive chairman of Breitbart News Network, said in a written statement.
The audit comes as the agency faces sustained complaints that it targeted conservative groups for extra scrutiny as they sought nonprofit status, before the agency ended the practice last year reports Fox News.
Since the practice was made public – by the IRS itself and the inspector general’s office – other conservative groups have come forward claiming they were subjected to unwarranted scrutiny by the agency.
A copy of the IRS notice to Breitbart News, obtained by FoxNews.com, asked about the company’s financial information for calendar year 2012.
The IRS asked for a litany of documents, including logs of its receipts and expenses, but also its partnership agreement and a “written narrative” of the business.
Larry Solov, president and CEO of Breitbart News Network said: "We stand ready to cooperate with the Internal Revenue Service on its audit of our company, but this will not deter us in the least from continuing our aggressive coverage of this president or his administration.”
The company was founded by the late media entrepreneur and conservative activist Andrew Breitbart.

London (APF News) - Islamic State (IS) jihadists appear to be using captured US military issue arms and weapons supplied to "moderate" rebels in Syria by Saudi Arabia, according to a report published Monday.
The study by the London-based small-arms research organisation Conflict Armament Research documented weapons seized by Kurdish forces from militants in Iraq and Syria over a 10-day period in July.
The report said the jihadists disposed of "significant quantities" of US-made small arms including M-16 assault rifles and included photos showing the markings "Property of US Govt".
It also found that anti-tank rockets used by IS in Syria were "identical to M79 rockets transferred by Saudi Arabia to forces operating under the (rebel) Free Syrian Army umbrella in 2013".
The rockets were made in the then Yugoslavia in the 1980s.
In neighbouring Iraq, IS jihadists seized significant quantities of US equipment from the Iraqi army when soldiers abandoned positions in northern areas when faced with a militant offensive in June.
The group captured a number of American-made Humvee armoured vehicles, which are now being targeted in US air strikes, and has reportedly used them in suicide bombings against Iraqi forces on at least two occasions.
The United States spent billions of dollars training and arming the security forces over a period of years, and both American and Iraqi officials repeatedly said they were ready to maintain internal security after US troops departed at the end of 2011.
Islamic State is also believed to have seized large quantities of weapons from Syrian military installations it has captured, including warplanes.

Switzerland would grant Edward Snowden asylum if he revealed the extent of espionage activities by the US government, recommendations by the Swiss Attorney General reportedly conclude.
According to Swiss newspaper Sonntags Zeitung, an official has said that Mr Snowden should be guaranteed safe entry and residency in the country, in return for his knowledge on America’s intelligence activities.
He was not granted political asylum, but again awarded temporary residence as an extension of the one-year visa given to him last summer reports the UK Independent.

Steve Wozniak: Internet freedoms at risk
RT's Abby Martin sits down with Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple, to speak about net neutrality and his fear that freedom on the Web might become a thing of the past.
In the Swiss document, the question “What rules would apply if Edward Snowden is brought to Switzerland and the United States makes an extradition request?” was posed, leading officials to consider the diplomatic headache that would follow their acceptance of Mr Snowden as political refugee.
In it, four possibilities were reportedly examined, with the Attorney General stating that he would be interested in a testimony by Mr Snowden against the National Security Agency (NSA) and his full disclosure of its widespread surveillance.
Mr Snowden’s participation could be part of criminal proceedings or as part of a parliamentary inquiry, Swiss paper Le Matin says, and that extradition would be rejected if the country thinks it is being sought on political grounds or if the former assistant at the CIA faces the death penalty at home.
The report also states that the Swiss Office of Attorney General's Ministry of Public Confederation (MPC) is investigating the activities of “foreign states in Switzerland” including activities such as espionage.
As reported by Der Bund, however, the report does acknowledge that “upper-level government commitments” could create an obstacle.
Mr Snowden’s Swiss lawyer Marcel Bosonnet reportedly welcomed the conclusions, saying: “The legal requirements for safe conduct are met”, and said that Mr Snowden is interested in applying for asylum.
In contrast to Switzerland, a Norwegian MP has today said that if Snowden wins the Nobel Peace Prize - for which he was nominated earlier this year - and travels to collect it, host country Norway would have no option but to arrest him.
According to The Nordic Page, conservative MP Michael Tetzschner said Norway can and should arrest him, fulfilling the international agreements they have.

Comrade Obama's unconstitutional war against Syria.
According to French newspaper La Figaro guerrilla fighters from the Free Syrian Army have been released across the Syrian border from Jordan and are headed toward Damascus.
These fighters, according to reports have been trained by U.S. military, CIA operatives and Jordanian and Israeli commandos. A first wave of about 300 fighters were released into Syria on August 17 and a second wave on August 19, according to the paper reports Ben Swann.
As for the question: about 2 months ago I asked, “Why are 300 marines now stationed along the Syrian border with Jordan?” At the time, the Obama administration claimed that those Marines were only there as part of a training exercise. President Obama himself acknowledged the troops in Jordan saying,
“This detachment that participated in the exercise and remained in Jordan includes Patriot missile systems, fighter aircraft, and related support, command, control, and communications personnel and systems,” Obama said.
Today, not only is it clear that these were not training exercises being conducted but that, as we suspected, the U.S. is providing more than just the “non lethal assistance” the administration has claimed.
Why is this important? Because, as we explain in this video the U.S. is pouring money, assistance and training into the FSA. However, if the Assad regime falls, it will not be the FSA that is in position to take over the country but instead it will be al Nusra Front, the Syrian wing of al Qaeda in Iraq.

CIA-Free Syrian Army Training Camp
(Vice News) - “I do not want to mention my name,” said a 20-year-old Free Syrian Army fighter, “because the camp we practiced in was highly classified.”
So classified, in fact, that the CIA—which is rumored to be running the camp (but declined to comment for this article)—still won’t acknowledge it exists.
For nearly a year, rumors have swirled about a covert, US-run training camp for FSA fighters in the vast Jordanian desert. (Jordanian intelligence also did not respond to requests for comment on this article.) And last week it was reported that the Obama administration appears to be expanding "its covert program of training and assistance for the Syrian opposition." However, despite all this speculation, little is known about how this supposed Jordanian camp works, who trains there, and what tactics they learn.
I recently tracked down a fighter who said he'd completed the course and was willing to talk.
"Mortar cannons and anti-tank missiles like the Red Arrow SPG-9 were new to me,” said the CIA trained Arab.
"Fighter A" is from Daraa, just a stone’s throw from the Jordanian border in southern Syria. He was in high school when the revolution twisted into civil war, and his plans to study law were set aside for a Kalashnikov; he joined the FSA at just 18 years old.
One day last May, when Fighter A was 19, he was taken aside and given some good news. “I was selected by the brigade commander to go to training camp,” he said. “I was told we would be trained on heavy weapons and anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles.” But he didn’t know exactly what to expect. “I had heard of military camps taking place, but I didn’t know where and when.”
The next morning, Fighter A and 39 other young men like him headed south into Jordan, their journey jointly choreographed by Daraa’s FSA military council and, allegedly, Jordanian intelligence. Mobile phones were confiscated, to be returned at the end of camp. No questions were asked. These men were going off the grid.
When the group finally arrived at a high-security military facility deep in the Jordanian desert, Fighter A found the last thing he expected: Americans.
“I was surprised when I saw foreign trainers,” he said. “The Americans who taught us wore military uniforms I did not recognize. We called them by their first names, and they spoke English to us.”
Weapons instruction was at the heart of the program. Recruits were trained on Kalashnikovs, light machine guns, cannon mortars, anti-tank mines, and Red Arrow SPG-9 unguided anti-tank missiles. This teaching beefed up Fighter A’s light- and medium-arms skills and introduced him to heavy weapons he hadn’t previously used. “Before the camp I used a Kalashnikov and light machine guns, and at the camp I was trained to shoot faster and more accurately. Mortar cannons and anti-tank missiles like the Red Arrow SPG-9 were new to me.”
Fighter A and his fellow recruits were each given $500 and sent back to Syria.
His stance follows footage of one of the flags, which is linked to the barbaric terrorist organisation, being auctioned in front of families and young children in Sydney.
“That is something we will consider and work with community groups about but we can’t have the position where you are seeing any activity that is promoting terrorism, supporting terrorism,” Mr Baird said today.
“There is no way in this state that we are going to support that."
“It is a flag that is used by ISIS, and ultimately that is something we have to respond to and we have to have a zero-tolerance approach,” he said.
The flag, used by the terrorists responsible for thousands of murders across Iraq and Syria, including the execution of two Western journalists, was auctioned at a Liverpool mosque.
Disturbing footage of the sale is being shared among Australian teenagers, some of whom appear to have been radicalised by the extreme violence associated with the outlawed Islamic State, and its black and white flag featuring the Shahada.
One 15-year-old Muslim boy who posted footage of the auction to his Instagram account has since posted pictures with the black flag of jihad.
In a chilling reflection of the IS campaign in Syria, another image of himself in a headscarf has a caption directed at Syria’s president: “going to kill Bashar al Assad now”.
Repeated attempts to contact the mosque for comment by phone and email went unanswered.
Welcome to Australia And the importation of Muslims goes on and on.
Pat Saiki, the
chairwoman of the Hawaii Republican Party, told party leaders on Saturday that
the Republican National Committee has invested in the islands to help Republican
candidates win in November.
In a memo, Saiki
said the national money would be used to hire local residents as field
representatives and to assist the party's "ground game" of voter outreach.
"This means that
our national counterpart understands the unique opportunity we have to put a
Republican back in Washington Place, to send Republicans to Washington, D.C.,
from Hawaii, and to increase Republican numbers in the state Legislature," Saiki
wrote reports the Honolulu Star Advertiser.

Former Lt. Gov.
James "Duke" Aiona, the Republican candidate for governor, has led in
public-opinion polls in a three-way race against state Sen. David Ige, a
Democrat, and former Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann, an independent. Former
congressman Charles Djou, a Republican, is trying to reclaim the urban Honolulu
seat in Congress against state Rep. K. Mark Takai, a Democrat.
The Republican
Governors Association is expected to provide independent financial help to the
Aiona campaign.
Party officials
would not disclose how much the RNC has directed to the islands, but the figure
will be available in future campaign finance reports. Some Republicans have been
critical about diverting national money to Hawaii, a state historically
dominated by Democrats, when it could likely be put to better use in states
where Republicans have the opportunity to pick up seats and take control of the
U.S. Senate or expand their majority in the U.S. House.
National
Democrats, too, would prefer not to have to spend much money defending
Democratic candidates in Hawaii, since money is needed in battleground states.
The Democratic Governors Association has conducted research in Hawaii this year
and could step in to help Ige, who has struggled with fundraising.
The national
parties routinely help local parties by providing money for staff and voter
identification efforts, but local investments can increase during election
years.

British female jihadis are running an ultra-religious police force that punishes women for un-Islamic behaviour in territory controlled by Islamist terrorists, The Telegraph can disclose.
New evidence shows a number of British female recruits to the al-Khanssaa brigade, an all-women militia set up by the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (Isil).
The al-Khanssaa brigade is operating in Raqqa, the Syrian city where Isil has set up its headquarters in the country. Security services believe that the American hostages James Foley and Steven Sotloff were both beheaded in the desert surrounding Raqqa reports the UK Telegraph.
Britain's new flag
It is quite possible that the British women involved in the al-Khanssaa brigade will know the true identity of the suspect - known in the media as 'Jihadi John’ and thought to be from the south east England - who executed them.
A key figure in the al-Khanssaa brigade, according to researchers at the International Centre for the Study of Radicalisation (ICSR), based in King’s College in London, is Aqsa Mahmood, a 20-year-old woman from Glasgow who fled to Syria in November last year.
Academics have identified three other women - all from the UK - who are members of the brigade. In all, ICSR believes about 60 British women have gone to Syria on jihad. The ICSR has a database of 25 British women it monitors.
The vast majority of the British women who have gone to Syria are aged between 18 and 24, typically 20 and under, with dozens more making inquiries about jihad in the past three weeks following the beheading of Mr Foley and the subsequent release of a video of his execution.
Mahmood, who was educated at private school and had wanted to be a doctor, is linked to the al-Khanssaa brigade through her jihadi name Umm Layth, which she uses on social network sites.

Its members are all single women, who dress in black robes and wear a face veil. Brigade members are paid a monthly salary of 25,000 Syrian pounds - about £100.
Melanie Smith, a research associate at ICSR, said: “Al-Khanssaa is a sharia law police brigade. This is Isil’s female law enforcement. We think it’s a mixture of British and French women but its social media accounts are run by the British and they are written in English.
“Given how small the community networks are - we know there are about 500 male British jihadis out there - it is quite likely these women move in the same circles as the British killer of Foley and Sotloff.”
Miss Smith said: “The British women are some of the most zealous in imposing the IS laws in the region. I believe that’s why at least four of them have been chosen to join the women police force.”
Miss Smith, who monitors social media for clues to the movements of British female jihadis, said more women are heading for Syria on a daily basis.
The twin girls from Manchester are strict Muslims and have reportedly told their family that they will not return from Syria.
.
British twin sisters are feared to have fled their home in the UK to join Isis jihadi fighters in Syria. . The 16-year-old girls from Manchester are believed to have crept out of their bedroom in the middle of the night and boarded a flight to Turkey. The twins are of Somali origin and their family are believed to have moved to the UK 10 years ago. . Last month, Isis, which now refers to itself as the Islamic State, released a video featuring five young jihadi fighters from the UK and Australia threatening to take their holy war to Jordan and Lebanon. . British student Nasser Muthana, 20, is heard saying in the video: "We have participated in battles in Sham and we will go to Iraq in a few days and we will fight there. We will even go to Lebanon and Jordan with no problems." . Muthana also posted a photograph online showing a stash of improvised explosive devices in a garage. .
