The Bill of Rights is being abolished right before our eyes by the corrupt leadership of both political parties and there is not one God Damn word out of the Media or the Beltway to defend the Constitution.

A North Dakota court has preliminarily upheld the first-ever use of an unmanned drone to assist in the arrest of an American citizen.

A judge denied a request to dismiss charges Wednesday against Rodney Brossart, a man arrested last year after a 16-hour standoff with police at his Lakota, N.D., ranch. Brossart's lawyer argued that law enforcement's "warrantless use of [an] unmanned military-like surveillance aircraft" and "outrageous governmental conduct" warranted dismissal of the case, according to court documents obtained by U.S. News.

Court records state that last June, six cows wandered onto Brossart's 3,000 acre farm, about 60 miles west of Grand Forks. Brossart allegedly refused to return the cows, which led to a long, armed standoff with the Grand Forks police department. At some point during the standoff, Homeland Security, through an agreement with local police, offered up the use of an unmanned predator drone, which "was used for surveillance," according to the court documents.

Death from Above

The US Navy, which has just revealed the latest development in stealth drone technology, is using a logo for its unmanned aviation program that literally features the angel of Death, clothed in a black cloak with a hood, holding aloft a large scythe.

The logo for the Navy’s Program Executive Office for Unmanned Aviation and Strike Weapons was photographed and posted to Instagram by Wired writer Spencer Ackerman.

The image of the logo is unaltered and can be verified as genuine on this official document, a bio of rear admiral Tim Heely, the Navy’s drone Program Executive Officer.

Judging by the branding, however, there seems to be more of a focus on striking (and killing) than on surveillance.   (Infowars.com)


Domestic Spy Drones

• DHS claims that unconstitutional spying by domestic drones is needed for "public safety."
• There are already 63 unmanned drone bases scattered across 20 states.
• Both politcal parties vote to fund the spy drone program.

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said during a hearing last week that flying unmanned aircraft inside the US could be the next step to ensuring “public safety.”

Sec. Napolitano weighed in on the topic of unmanned aerial vehicles during this week’s Committee on Homeland Security and suggested that implementing UAVs for domestic surveillance could the next step in the United States’ amazingly accelerating drone program.

The Federal Aviation Administration is currently considering ground rules that will outline how the FAA can govern domestic drone use, and by 2020 they expect to see 30,000 UAVs soaring through US airspace. Speaking before a House panel Sec. Napolitano suggested that deploying UAVs proactively to put an extra set over locales nowhere near America’s border may in fact be the next move.

“With respect to Science and Technology, that directorate, we do have a funded project,” she said. “I think it’s in California, looking at drones that could be utilized to give us situational awareness in a large public safety [matter] or disaster, such as a forest fire, and how they could give us better information.”

In a transcript of the secretary’s testimony made available after her address, Napolitano admits that the US has expanded their use or surveillance drones on America’s border with Canada in recent years, now letting UAVs monitor 950 miles of Washington State’s boundary line.

This has led some to worry that thousands of unmanned aircraft could be used by the federal government to quell civil unrest in the run-up to the November 6 presidential election reports RT News-USA.

There are already 63 unmanned drone bases scattered across 20 states in the US reports the UK Daily Mail.

The Federal Aviation Administration has paved the way for the use of drone aircraft in the US and said up to 30,000 of the vehicles could fill the skies by the end of the decade.

Most of the current drones bases are housed at military installations or run by Homeland Security or local law enforcement agencies.

Sunday Concert - Fleetwood Mac

For a change of pace this summer we will be doing a Sunday Concert series.  In this case I am profiling one of my all-time favorite bands.

Fleetwood Mac are a British-American rock band formed in 1967 in London.

The early line-up included drummer Mick Fleetwood, bassist John McVie and keyboardist Christine McVie.

While Mick Fleetwood was scouting Van Nuys, California, the house engineer for California's Sound City Studios, Keith Olsen, played him a track titled "Frozen Love" from Buckingham Nicks, which he had mixed there for an American band, Buckingham Nicks. Fleetwood liked it, and was introduced to the guitarist from the band, Lindsey Buckingham. Fleetwood soon asked him to join. Buckingham agreed, on the condition that his musical partner and girlfriend, Stephanie "Stevie" Nicks, also become part of the band; Fleetwood agreed.

In 1975, the new line-up released the eponymous Fleetwood Mac. The album proved to be a breakthrough for the band and became a huge hit, reaching No.1 in the US and selling over 5 million copies. Among the hit singles from this album were Christine McVie's "Over My Head" and "Say You Love Me", and Stevie Nicks' "Rhiannon" and "Landslide" (actually a hit twenty years later on The Dance album).

The album the band members released in 1977 was Rumours, in which they laid bare the emotional turmoil experienced at that time. Critically acclaimed, it was the recipient of the Grammy Award for Album of the Year for 1977. Hit singles included Buckingham's "Go Your Own Way", Nicks's U.S. No.1 "Dreams", and Christine McVie's "Don't Stop" and "You Make Loving Fun". Buckingham's "Second Hand News", Nicks' "Gold Dust Woman" and "The Chain" (the only song written by all five bandmates) also received significant radio airplay.

By 2003, Rumours had sold over 19 million copies in the U.S. alone, and a total of 40 million copies worldwide, maintaining its status as one of the biggest-selling albums of all time.

In the US Fleetwood Mac record sales have earned 14 gold records and 9 platinum or multi-platinum records.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

There is not a doubt.  "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" wins the award for the best movie title of 2012. 

As the ultimate vampire fan how could I possibly resist any longer a movie about a Republican vampire killer?  So I finally got out to see it.  It's about damn time we got to see the true history of the United States that has been hidden from us.

Just when you think Hollywood has re-hashed to death every possible plot line, suddenly out of nowhere you get a totally original film.

The movie opens in 1820 with Abraham as a young boy proving his moral mettle by protecting another child, a black friend, Will, from a slaver’s whip. The slaver is Jack Barts, who takes his revenge on Abraham by lethally nibbling Abe’s mother, Nancy. She’s soon out of the picture, as is his father. This clears the way for the orphan’s revenge.

                

And revenge it is with vampire heads and body parts everywhere.

Silver used to be reserved for slaying werewolves, but these days anything goes when it comes to monsters. The newfangled vampires in “Abraham Lincoln” are largely felled with silver-tipped blades.

Personally, I like better the first half of the film where Lincoln fights vamps as a frontier lawyer while trying to win the hand of a beautiful Mary Todd.  There is a certain charm to a young Lincoln.  The last half of the film dealing with an older Lincoln and the Civil War was not as much fun for me.

With Lincoln we have a fun summer popcorn movie.  Not great but not bad.  On a 1 to 10 scale I would give Lincoln a 6 rating.

Lincoln certainly does not make my top five vampire film list:

1. Dracula (1931)  -  The classic of classics.   QUOTE:  "Listen to them. Children of the night. What music they make."
2. The Lost Boys (1987)  -  A totally off the wall hippie vamp movie.  QUOTE:  "One thing about living in Santa Carla I never could stomach, all the damn vampires."
3. Blade (1998)  -  Wesley Snipes at his very best.  How can you go wrong with disco fire sprinklers raining blood on the dancers below?
4. Underworld (2003)  -  Kate Beckinsale in forbidden vampire - werewolf love.  Nuff said.
5. From Dusk Till Dawn (1996)  -  Quentin Tarantino is a madman.  QUOTE:  "The world's my oyster, except for the fact that I just rammed a wooden stake in my brother's heart because he turned into a vampire, even though I don't believe in vampires. Aside from that unfortunate business, everything's hunky-dory."

Corn Crop Failure  -  The Media misses the real point of mass starvation

• The USA has anywhere from a 14 to 30 day supply of food on hand.
• The world is one harvest away from disaster. 
• If our crops fail who will send us food? . . . no one, because there is no extra food.

As usual the Media misses the main point of many of the stories of the day.

The TV crews have been running around the nation for photo-ops showing dead crops and farmers going broke.  Then they speculate on the prices ag products.

But the real story is there are no food reserves around the world.  It is not unusual for droughts to last 10 - 20 - 30 years or more.  What happens to Americans if there are crop failures lasting for years? 

Currently the US is crucial to global food markets as the world's largest exporter of corn, soya beans and wheat, accounting for one in every three tons of the grains traded on the global market. 

There is no extra food in the world.  If America is short of food there will be no one to help us.

Even the US agriculture secretary focused on prices not supply.  His comments pushed corn prices even higher when he said the situation was not bad enough to warrant a reduction in government quotas for biofuels, specifically ethanol, which is typically made from corn and is a factor in keeping prices high.

Ruth Kelly, Oxfam's food policy adviser, said: "The toxic combination of a heatwave in the US, which is decimating corn harvests, and the unwavering global demand for biofuels, is again pushing the price of basic food stuffs higher and higher."

What happens if there are repeated major crop failures over a period of years?

Wheat supplies would come under pressure if the corn crop got much worse, as wheat would be used to feed animals instead of corn. If we have even more disastrous results on corn, the pressure on wheat will increase, with prices rising much further. The likelihood then is that high wheat prices will spill over into rice.

When in doubt buy guns and gold.

Although global wheat stocks are not low, there are growing concerns over production due to erratic weather conditions in Russia.

Hussein Allidina, head of commodities research at Morgan Stanley, said: "The Russian wheat harvest is in full swing and flash flooding in the south is temporarily limiting exports and stoking quality concerns."

The concern then is if Russia starts worrying about domestic supply of wheat it may limit exports, driving prices even higher.    (UK Guardian)

U.S. corn stockpiles are poised to be the smallest in 16 years and soybean reserves will be lower than the government expected, potentially accelerating food-price inflation in an election year.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture says that corn inventories on Aug. 31 will be 37 percent lower than a year earlier at 715 million bushels.  Soybean stockpiles will be 242 million bushels, down from a March prediction of 275 million, the survey showed.

The protesters overturned two cars and invaded the local government offices in the coastal city of Qidong, near Shanghai.

Demonstrators seized bottles of liquor and wine from the offices along with cartons of cigarettes, items which Chinese officials frequently receive as bribes reports the UK Telegraph.

A photograph posted on Sina Weibo, the main Chinese microblogging service, showed some of the items displayed outside the government building.

Thousands of people had gathered in a square in front of the local government offices and in adjacent streets, with armed police arriving at the scene at 9.00 am.

Following the clashes, the local police said in their microblog that the paper mill, which belongs to Japanese company Oji Paper, would be "permanently closed" and called on the demonstrators to go home.

Police Gang Beating Peaceful Pollution Protesters in Qidong, China 

Protests against environmental degradation have increased in China, where three decades of rapid and unfettered industrial expansion have taken their toll.

The sewage pipe from the paper mill discharges into the sea in the port of Lusi, one of four fishing harbours in Qidong, one protester, who for safety reasons only gave her name as Qin, told AFP.

Discharges were set to climb to 150,000 tonnes of sewage a day when the mill was fully operational, according to residents quoted Friday by the state-run Global Times newspaper. Construction on the mill started in 2007.

Qin said there were 50,000 demonstrators, while a microblogger using the name Qidong Longhuisheng estimated numbers at 100,000.

"There are people everywhere, on walls, cars, rooftops, in streets," said another microblog user writing under the name Jiaojiaotaotailang, adding that "the air is filled with the smell of alcohol, and there are sounds of breaking glass".

Searches including "Qidong" were blocked on Sina Weibo, which has more than 250 million subscribers.

An upscale hotel on a Santa Monica, California, beach is an odd place to be singled out from a crowd and removed because you are Jewish, but that’s what happened to 18 young professionals who are telling their story to a jury in a discrimination trial taking place in Santa Monica Superior Court this week.

Ari Ryan is the grandson of a Ukrainian Jew who lost most of his family in the Holocaust and narrowly escaped death at the hands of the Nazis. Ryan’s grandfather moved to Israel in 1942 and served as a captain in the Israel Defense Forces reports the Jewish Press.

Seventy years later Ryan says he got a small taste of what his grandfather lived through, but rather than in the forests of the Ukraine, it took place at an upscale hotel in Santa Monica. Ryan and more than a dozen others have brought a lawsuit alleging anti-Semitic discrimination against them by a multi-millionaire Muslim American hotel owner.

Two years ago Ryan and other twenty- and thirty-something Jews planned to raise money to send children of fallen IDF soldiers to camp with a charity event at the Hotel Shangri-La in Santa Monica, California.

On the morning of July 11, 2010, Ryan and others arrived at the hotel and began setting up Friends of the IDF banners, literature and piles of shirts for the event guests.

But the event was aborted after, according to one employee’s sworn testimony, the hotel’s owner told staff members, “Get the [expletive deleted] Jews out of my pool.” Then the hotel security and other employees began removing the materials and ordering the guests to leave.

Ryan said, “Anyone wearing a blue wristband,” which identified them as being with the Friends of the IDF, “was asked to get out of the swimming pool and the hot tub.” In fact, no one who was identifiable as Jewish was so much as “allowed to dip their feet in the water.”

Tehmina (Tamie) Adaya, a Pakistani-American Muslim, is the owner of the Shangri-La. Her father, Ahmad Adaya, was a founding partner of the California real estate company IDS Real Estate Group. He also was a founder and benefactor of the New Horizon School for Muslim religious education in Southern California.

Reuters reports that Comrade Barack Obama has signed a secret order authorizing U.S. support for rebels seeking to overthrow the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his government.

Obama's order, approved earlier this year and known as an intelligence "finding," broadly permits the CIA and other U.S. agencies to provide support that could help the rebels oust Assad.  The full extent of clandestine support that agencies like the CIA might be providing also is unclear.

A U.S. government source acknowledged that under provisions of the presidential finding, the United States was collaborating with a secret command center operated by Turkey and its allies.

Republican Senators John McCain and Lindsey Graham have urged the U.S. government become directly involved in arming Assad's opponents and the overthrow of the government of Syria without a declaration of war as required by the Constitution.

Last week, Reuters reported that, along with Saudi Arabia and Qatar, Turkey had established a secret base near the Syrian border to help direct vital military and communications support to Assad's opponents.

NBC News reported that the Free Syrian Army had obtained nearly two dozen surface-to-air missiles, weapons that could be used against Assad's helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft. Syrian government armed forces have employed such air power more extensively in recent days.

Islamists stone couple to death for having sex

Islamists occupying the northern Mali town of Aguelhok have stoned an unmarried couple to death in front of about 200 people for the "crime" of sex.

"I was there. The Islamists took the unmarried couple to the centre of Aguelhok. The couple was placed in two holes and the Islamists stoned them to death," said a local government official on condition of anonymity reports the UK Telegraph.

"The woman fainted after the first few blows," he said, adding that the man had shouted out once and then fallen silent.

A second official confirmed the information, saying the couple had two children, the youngest of which was six months old.
.

"They were living in the bush, they were brought to town by the Islamists who stoned them to death. People came out to watch, there were witnesses," he said, also not wishing to be identified. The stoning happened on Sunday, but only came to light yesterday.

 

Islamists destroy Timbuktu

He says he realises that talking to a journalist may expose him, but the situation is "so desperate", he wants to speak out reports BBC News.

Islamist militants of Ansar Dine and al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) have also destroyed half of the World Heritage tombs and mausoleums in the name of radical Islam.

The loss of these shrines has sparked worldwide outrage but it has also caused great sadness and disapproval among religious leaders in Bamako.

Adherents of a stricter form of Islam had gathered at a mosque funded by Saudi Arabia.

Hard-line Wahhabism has grown in recent years in Mali with young imams returning from studying on the Arab peninsula.

"I wish Mali to become a Sharia state," says Imam Mohamed Toure, who spent five years in Saudi Arabia.

The leader of Ansar Dine, Iyad Ag Ghaly, used to sit behind him during prayers at his mosque - although they did not have any personal relationship.

"But Sharia should not be imposed by armed men," Imam Toure insisted.

"It will come by itself according to God's will."

The FAA has authorized the use of remote-controlled Predator drones in the airspace above nearly 10,000 acres in North Dakota. As of this fall, unmanned military aircraft will use lasers to aim at ground targets from nearly 2 miles above the earth.

Grand Forks, North Dakota — the third largest city in the state — will host a domestic training facility for the military’s unmanned aerial vehicles starting in October. Several times a week pilots will remotely guide robotic drones through the sky at altitudes as high of 9,999 feet above sea level and zone in on ground targets with the use of dangerous lasers reports RT News.

"People may hear airplanes flying above, but there will be no lights visible and no explosions," Col. Rick Gibney, commander of the 119th Wing of the North Dakota Air National Guard, tells the Grand Forks Herald. The lasers the drones will be equipped with are reported by the Herald to help pilots practice on designating targets for bombing and missile launching missions overseas.



Federalized - TSA Begins Operations At Bus Terminals and Train Stations
Once a purely local police function has become Federalized by Big Brother.

The Electronic Frontier Foundation estimates that the US will have 30,000 domestic drones in the air by the end of this decade. The Federal Aviation Administration is drafting ground rules right now that will lay out operation standards for UAVs in America, but some critics have suggested that the rate at which the US is accelerating its drone program is outstanding, citing concerns over both safety and privacy.

Within the last month, a military drone crashed during a routine training mission just outside of Washington, D.C. Days later, a professor at the University of Texas at Austin showed the US Department of Homeland Security that he was able to essentially hijack a drone using less than $1,000 in parts.

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said that the state of California is currently considering using surveillance drones as a means of proactively monitoring suspicious activity on the ground on the basis of “public safety” issues. At a recent lecture on domestic drones given by the EFF at New York City’s Hackers on Planet Earth Conference, Timm and fellow activist Parker Higgins said during a presentation that some surveillance UAVs “can zoom in and read a milk carton from 60,000 feet” off the ground.

The usual bi-partisan political games are afoot in Washington.  This time it involves Senate hearings on government subsidized student loans cashed in by for-profit private colleges.

Keep in mind that this is only a game.  With an election coming each party is trying to pretend that they give a damn.

Leftist Senator Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) chairman of the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, released his report this week after two years probing the education industry, its profits and sometimes aggressive recruiting techniques.

In mock horror Harkin said, "In this report, you will find overwhelming documentation of exorbitant tuition, aggressive recruiting practices, abysmal student outcomes, taxpayer dollars spent on marketing and profit, and regulatory evasion and manipulation."

Taxpayers financed $32 billion in student aid in the 2009-10 year at for-profit colleges, the report said. Yet more than half of the students dropped out in that year.

Naturally Harkin never bothers to talk about the billions of taxpayer subsidies and loans going to standard higher education industry colleges such as Harvard,  Penn State or or UCLA.

The Game

Here is the game of Big Government.

The education industry wants to suck hard on the public teat.  Naturally campaign money changes hands, but also jobs are always offered to ex-members of Congress in payment for years of loyal service to their financial backers. 

For example, former Wisconsin GOP Congressman Steve Gunderson was given the plush job as  president of the Association of Private Sector Colleges and Universities, which represents for-profit schools.  His members provide education to 3.8 million students, including working adults and veterans.

“The report twists the facts to fit a narrative, proving that this is nothing more than continued political attacks on private sector colleges and universities,” Gunderson in a statement that naturally defends Big Government and private business sucking on the teat of the treasury.

In a minority report, Senate Republican staff members claimed to criticize the report’s findings, saying that Democrats repeatedly refused to work in a bipartisan manner reports Bloomberg-Businessweek.

  It is the same old shell game of charge and counter charge while both parties support Big Government and the re-distribution of the wealth.

For the record, the report is more than 1,000 pages long and takes aim at Apollo’s University of Phoenix, Education Management Corp.,Washington Post’s Kaplan Higher Education and other for-profit colleges, which as a group spend more on marketing than instruction. 

For-profit colleges rely on federal financial-aid money for as much as 90 percent of their revenue.
