Airport Security now searches your e-mails

• Security at the airport now demands that you open your e-mails for government "inspection."
• The standard government answer, "It's for your protection."

When Sandra Tamari arrived at Israel's international airport, she received an unusual request: A security agent pushed a computer screen in front of her, connected to Gmail and told her to "log in."

The agent, suspecting Tamari was involved in pro-Palestinian activism, wanted to inspect her private email account for incriminating evidence. The 42-year-old American of Palestinian descent refused and was swiftly expelled from the country.

Tamari, who is from St. Louis, said she arrived in Israel on May 21 to participate in an interfaith conference. She described herself as a Quaker peace activist and acknowledged taking part in campaigns calling for boycotts and divestment from Israel.

Tamari's experience is not unique. In a cyber-age twist on Israel's vaunted history of airport security, the country has begun to force incoming travelers deemed suspicious to open personal email accounts for inspection, reports the Associated Press.

Targeting mainly Muslims or Arabs, the practice appears to be aimed at rooting out visitors who have histories of pro-Palestinian activism, and in recent weeks, has led to the expulsion of at least three American women.

It remains unclear how widespread the practice is.

However, asked about Tamari's claims, the Shin Bet security agency confirmed she had been interrogated and said its agents acted in accordance with the law.

Israel has a long history of using ethnic profiling, calling it a necessary evil resulting from its bitter experience with terrorist attacks. Arab travelers and anyone else seen as a risk are often subjected to intense questioning and invasive inspections, including strip searches.

The security procedures appear to be getting stricter: Recent searches of journalists at official events have been invasive enough to create a series of mini-uproars and walkouts - a situation that has dovetailed with increasing concerns that the government is trying to stifle dissent.

Diana Butto, a former legal adviser to the Palestinian Authority and a fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, said the policy of email checks, once used sporadically, appears to have become more widespread over the past year.     (Associated Press)

The GOP House racks up $1.59 Trillion in new Debt

Comrade Obama cannot spend one cent by himself.  He must stand on the Constitutional shoulders of the Democrat Senate and the Republican House. 

The Republican House has racked up $1.59 Trillion in new Federal debt.

• The Constitution of the United States gives the GOP House veto power over spending and debt, but the party has done absolutely nothing for two years.
• Under a GOP House the Federal debt has been increasing at an average pace of about $105.9 billion per month.
• The GOP simply stands by and allows the insane spending and re-distribution of the wealth to go on and on. 

It is truly an amazing site to see.  The spineless and ball-less Republican Party hiding under their desks in the House frightened to death to take any real action to stop us from being a bankrupt Greece.  The GOP has done NOTHING.  No spending cuts, no freeze on spending, not even a freeze on hiring Federal workers.

The Republican-controlled House of Representatives, which took office in January 2011, has enacted federal spending bills under which the national debt has increased more in less than one term of Congress than in the first 97 Congresses combined.

In the fifteen months that the Republican-controlled House of Representatives--led by Speaker John Boehner--has effectively enjoyed a constitutional veto over federal spending, the federal government’s debt has increased by about $1.59 trillion reports CNS news.

• Article 1, Section 9, Clause 7 of the Constitution says: “No Money shall be drawn from the Treasury, but in Consequence of Appropriations made by Law.” A law appropriating money cannot be enacted unless it is approved by the House.  
• Then there is Article 1; Section 8 of the Constitution.  It states that the House has the power to borrow money (or NOT borrow money) on the credit of the United States.  
• And don't forget Article 1, Section 7 which says "All bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives." 

The approximately $1.59 trillion in new debt accumulated since the Republican-controlled House gained a veto over federal spending legislation is more than the total increase in the federal debt between 1789, when the first Congress convened, and October 1984, when the 98th Congress was nearing the end of its second session.

The U.S. is on a roller coaster ride to a Greek Debt Hell and the GOP has done absolutely nothing to stop the insanity.  Does the Republican Party actually believe in anything?

On March 1, 2011, Boehner agreed to a new short-term spending deal with President Barack Obama and Democratic congressional leaders to keep the government running past the March 4, 2011 expiration of the old CR. Since March 4, 2011, federal expenditures have been carried out under a series of CRs approved by both the Republican-controlled House and the Democrat-controlled Senate and signed into law by President Obama.

At the close of business on March 4, 2011, the total federal debt was $14,182,627,184,881.03, according to the Treasury Department's Bureau of the Public Debt. At the close of business on May 31, 2012, it was 15,770,685,085,364.14. That is an increase of $1,588,057,900,483.11—in just 15 months.

All of the debt accumulated by the federal government throughout the history of the country did not exceed $1.588 trillion until October 1984.

Mexican drug violence comes to Arizona

The so-called Drug War goes on and on.  The gang violence gets a little worse and a little more out of control every year.  The only answer the politicians have is to spend even more money.

With this backdrop of growing violence an Arizona sheriff announces that five bodies found burned beyond recognition inside the shell of a charred SUV are likely the result of drug cartel violence.

The bodies and vehicle were found in the Vekol Valley, a rugged, mountainous desert area that's a well-known smuggling corridor for drugs and illegal immigrants headed from Mexico to Phoenix and the U.S. interior.

The bodies were so badly burned that investigators couldn't immediately determine their gender or ethnicity. While it's unclear whether the victims were from Mexico, the sheriff's office has notified the Mexican Consulate.A Border Patrol agent first spotted the white Ford Expedition driving at around 4:30 a.m.

The vehicle disappeared despite an effort by federal and local authorities to track it down. Why the vehicle first drew attention from authorities is unclear.

At daybreak, an agent spotted tracks leading from Interstate 8 into the desert. The vehicle that left the tracks had apparently launched off the highway, going airborne for a short distance before landing in the desert. The tracks continued on for a couple of miles.

Agents could see the smoldering vehicle from a distance through binoculars.

They approached with extinguishers. Inside, they found the bodies - one in the rear passenger seat and four lying in the back cargo compartment. The front seats were empty, Babeu said.

Babeu said investigators will try to determine whether the victims were dead before the SUV was set ablaze or whether they were alive when the fire was started.

"Clearly these people were murdered, but we don't know the manner of death," he said.

The sheriff said the extent of the violence, particularly in the western part of the county - about 35 miles south of Phoenix - is more evidence that drug smuggling north of the border hasn't subsided.

Pinal County deputies were involved in more than 350 high-speed pursuits last year, and Babeu said most of those involved cartel members. There have been shootings, the bodies of murder victims have been left in the desert and just this week, several loads of drugs were confiscated, he said.     (AP News.myway)

China buys Australia (For Cheap Too)

Communist Chinese are buying up Australian farmland

• The Chinese are setting up "Food Colonies" all over the world where agricultural products are exported exclusively to China.
• Nations around the world are selling off their land, mineral rights and freedom for a quick fix of a few dollars of foreign cash.

A Chinese investment group has reportedly lodged a bid to buy the entire 15,000 hectares of the Ord Expansion Project in the Kimberley region of Western Australia.

According to The Australian newspaper, the company, trading as Kimberley Agricultural Investments (KAI), is understood to be interested in developing a major sugar industry in the region, as well as a meatworks capable of processing 500,000 head of cattle a year.

The company is up against 13 other companies and individual farmers who have also submitted applications for land to the WA Government (which is spending $311 million on expanding the Ord irrigation scheme).

The director of the Ord Expansion Project, Peter Stubbs, would not confirm or deny whether Kimberley Agricultural Investments had lodged a bid for land in the Ord.

President of the Kimberley Pastoralists and Graziers Association, Jim Motter, says KAI's proposal to build a meatworks in the East Kimberley capable of processing 500,000 head of cattle a year would be "the greatest thing that's happened to the region in a long time", but questioned where the company would get the cattle from.

"Maybe between the Kimberley and the Northern Territory, maybe they will (get enough cattle), but I wouldn't hold my breath on getting half a million though. That's a lot of cattle."

The ABC understands Chinese investors have been making inquiries about nearby cattle stations in the Northern Territory, such as Legune and Bullo River.

Mr Motter says there are already a lot of cattle stations in the East Kimberley that are foreign owned and there could be benefits if Chinese companies want to invest in the northern cattle industry.     (Farmlandgrab.org)

Communist Chinese are snapping up Australian uranium mines

Northern Territory Resources Minister Kon Vatskalis has told Chinese mining conference delegates there were many uranium mining investment opportunities in the Territory for the next decade reports NT News.

Mr Vatskalis was speaking as part of an Australia seminar at the China Min- ing Congress and Expo 2011 in the city of Tianjin.

He said the Northern Territory was set up to export to China with the north-south rail line and the Darwin port utilised for iron ore, manganese and copper concentrate, with the Territory also being a major producer of uranium, bauxite, zinc and gold.

He said in 2010 there was $195 million spent on exploration in the Territory, an increase of 31 per cent on 2009 with most of the money invested in exploration for rare earths, phosphates, uranium, gold and copper.

Mr Vatskalis said since the start of a government strategy to increase Chinese investment, there had been 16 agreements signed between Chinese and Territory companies and 53 exploration licences granted to Chinese exploration companies with $157 million in publicly announced deals.

There have been 21 Chinese companies investment in exploration and mining in the Territory.

He said that there was great potential for uranium mines, with a prime example being a majority equity investment in the Energy Metal Bigrlyi project in the Ngalia Central Australian mine by China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group.

"Several opportunities exist for Chinese companies to participate in developing the Territory's uranium resources," he said.      (NT News)

Communist Chinese want to keep their land buys hidden from the public.

• The Chinese are not only buying up property but also avoiding taxes.

The Chinese Government is seeking less scrutiny of its Australian farm raids.  Sources say the Chinese are pushing the issue as part of a planned free trade agreement with Australia.  The two countries have been negotiating a Free Trade Agreement for years.

But it's understood Chinese negotiators want preferential treatment of Chinese farm buys as part of the deal. This could see purchases of less than $1 billion face no scrutiny.


Liberals MP Sharman Stone said trade agreements should be "reciprocal".  "What sort of investment options is Australia being offered for Chinese land, resources and assets?" Dr Stone asked.

"We're on the taking end of offers. Australia never had deals anywhere as good as the best in the free trade arena. New Zealand already enjoyed freer access and cleaned up a lot of markets potentially ripe for Australia."  It was a concern to see "fair access to a market being manipulated", Dr Stone said.

Liberal Senator Bill Heffernan said Australia should not "be held to ransom by countries who have a non-market currency and the capacity to manipulate the system with a non-market currency".

"Australia is not equipped with current regulations and the tax system to deal with the huge tax avoidance occurring with foreign investors in Australia," Senator Heffernan said.

"Add to that the huge concessions made to encourage what was corporate foreign capital, which is now sovereign (foreign government) capital, and you can completely bypass the tax system.

"These are all problems Australia is not equipped to deal with and we need legislation reviewed."

A legal source familiar with negotiations with the Chinese said it was "absolutely" plausible China would try to get better access to buy farms here.      (Farmlandgrab.org)

• The Death of the West  -  Europe is expected to provide Freedom of Religion for Muslim immigrants while non-Muslims are not given Freedom of Religion in Muslim nations. 

Marseille is France's second city, and according to demographers it's likely to become the first Western European metropolis where the majority of the population will be Muslim.

Marseille can appear dirty, poor and covered in graffiti. Crime on the streets is commonplace, and in whole neighborhoods, criminals, not the police, are said to maintain their own version of law and order.

There were fewer than one million Muslims in Western Europe after World War II before guest-worker programs fueled immigration. Today there are 15 million Muslims, five million in France alone. That change has exacerbated tensions between communities and local governments struggling to cope with the newcomers.

The news reported that 14 cars had burned overnight in Marseille's northern suburbs. "They've done it," Tighilt said out loud. "The bastards!" It seemed his worst fears had been confirmed: riots, which had first broken out in the suburbs of Paris on October 27, had now spread to the port city and one of the largest immigrant communities in France. For the previous two weeks, Tighilt, his fellow social workers and community volunteers had been working feverishly to prevent this very thing from happening, fanning out across the city to places where young people gathered to spread the word that violence was folly.

"We were worried that [our youths] would try to compete with Paris," says Tighilt, 45, who grew up in an Algerian family in a shantytown on the outskirts of the city. He was not alone. Marseille is not only arguably Europe's most ethnically diverse city, but also has as high a proportion of Muslims as any place in Western Europe. Near Washington, D.C., the Bilderberg meeting started Thursday, May 31 at Chantilly, Virginia, USA at the Marriott Hotel and will end June 3, 2012. Peasants like you and me are not allowed in that hotel.

The Bilderberg meeting a big deal. Well, for one thing it is illegal under the Logan Act which makes their New World Order illegal. Under the Logan Act a U.S. citizen without the authority of the U.S. cannot make deals with people from other countries. Obama and Hillary met secretly with the Bilderbergs on June 6, 2008 at the Marriott Hotel in Chantilly, Virginia.

Before the event went underway, the only person confirmed to accept an invitation to the 2012 conference was Canadian politician Alison Redford, although frequent guests Henry A. Kissinger and David Rockefeller were all but certain to stop by the Westfield Marriott hotel, although last year’s roster included names such as Google Chairman Eric Schmidt, World Bank President Robert B. Zoellick, European Central Bank President Jean-Claude Trichet, Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands and Greek Minister of Finance George Papaconstantinou. 

In a peculiar change of police, however, the Bilderberg Group formally released a roster of their own invited members days before this week’s event. Whether or not people liked such as Citigroup Vice Chairman Peter Orszag or Finish Minister of Finance Jutta Urpilainen will actually show is a matter that only those at the behind-closed-doors event can confirm, but the action of actually releasing a list of attendees-real or not — suggests that opponents of the secret society have finally made their unrest heard to the point that organizers decided to attempt for at least some transparency.

Asked to be in attendance this year, according to a memo released by the Bilderberg Group, were many of the usual names as well as Republican Senator Marco Rubio, whose name has been floated as a possible nominee for Mitt Romney’s running mate.

Republican Governor Mitch Daniels is on a short list of well-connected individuals attending the super-secret “Bilderberg Meeting” in Virginia.While two other Washington D.C. events – the unveiling of George W. Bush’s portrait at the White House and a visit to the National Press Club to talk road funding – were listed on the public schedule released by Daniels’ office, there was no mention of Bilderberg.

Press Secretary Jane Jankowski confirmed Daniels will participate in a panel discussion today and then leave. It wasn’t on his public schedule because it’s not a public event, she said.

This is our one year anniversary as a political blog.  The growth of THE FEDERALIST blog has been amazing.  Even with Memorial Day weekend vacations and some school graduations viewership has shot up.

We ended up the month with our best numbers ever.  39,464 pageviews for the month of May.  On our best day we peaked at 1,632 views.  The site has broken the 1,000 plus per day point by a wide margin nearly everyday.

The growth in readership has been a wonderful surprise.  We started the blog in May 2011 with a "massive" 836 views.  By December 2011 we had climbed up to 13,863 views.  Now we are at 39,464.

The per page readership has jumped 185% in only five months.

All of us on the net dream late at night of being Matt Drudge.  But deep down we know that is not going to happen.  But Bloggers are doing something right.  Governments all over the world are scared shitless that we even exist.  Scared to the point that Bloggers are arrested and their sites blocked.

That makes me feel good.  Fuck these bastards in government.

In my own way I try to cover stories often ignored by the Elite Media. Stories from a Constitutional Federalist point of view.  A point of view that has nearly vanished in a modern Socialistic Big Brother state.

The masquerades of Progressive this and People that aside, 37 Howe Street happens to be the headquarters for the Connecticut Communist Party, run by Joelle Fishman, who also happens to be the regional bureau chief for the infamous Peoples World. Which, yes, also happens to be located at 37 Howe Street reports the National Review.

Tom Scott, former state senator and considered by many to be Connecticut’s primo conservative, called to say “Is there anything this Governor is unwilling to spend our money on? We have the highest per-capita debt of any state, we’re the highest taxed state in the nation, and yet Malloy and the Democrats see fit to spend $300,000 to prop up the Communist Party of Connecticut. This is outrageous. And Malloy is a fiscal misfit. We need to turn the heat up on these Democrats to remove this item from the bond commission agenda.”      (National Review)

American Food Nazis

The goose step of bi-partisan Big Government has come to North Carolina.  Free speech rights are violated when the government tries to shut down a man giving advice on what foods are good to eat.

• Bill of Rights free speech rights violated by bi-partisan Big Government in North Carolina.
• Neither political party does jack about abolishing intrusive government agencies, government required licences or repealing insane laws.

Steven Cooksey says all he wanted to do was help other diabetics get healthy, but a North Carolina agency tried to censor his online healthy food advice column, saying he was not a licensed dietitian.

Cooksey filed a lawsuit Tuesday in federal court, saying the state violated his free speech rights.

“When did it become illegal to tell people to eat meats and vegetables?” Cooksey said in an interview with The Associated Press. “How is it illegal to tell people not to eat grains? We’re talking about healthy eating. This is wrong.”

The North Carolina Board of Dietetics/Nutrition and several board members are named as defendants. The lawsuit was filed on Cooksey’s behalf by the Institute for Justice, a national civil liberties group.

Charla Burill, the agency’s executive director, said she couldn’t comment because the board hadn’t received the complaint. But the Board of Dietetics/Nutrition said it was illegal for anyone without a government-issued dietician’s license to offer diet advice.

Cooksey’s lawyers’ said the advice is protected speech, adding that the state “went through 19 pages” of Cooksey’s online writings with a red pen, indicating on a line-by-line basis what he may and may not say.

“This content-based censorship of Cooksey’s speech violates the First Amendment,” the lawsuit said.

Cooksey, 51, of Stanley, N.C., says he was hospitalized in 2009 after his blood sugar spiked. At the time, Cooksey, who works for a medical equipment company, weighed more than 240 pounds. By his own account, he was in bad physical shape; he ate poorly and didn’t exercise.  During his hospitalization, he was diagnosed with Type II diabetes — a chronic condition caused by a problem in the way the body makes or uses insulin. Cooksey says he was told by a doctor that he would probably be insulin-dependent for life.

For him, he decided the healthiest diet was “a high-fat/low-carbohydrate diet of the sort that Stone Age people ate prior to agriculture. This diet is sometimes called a Paleolithic or caveman diet,” he said. It includes ordinary, unprocessed or minimally-processed foods such as beef, pork, chicken, eggs, leafy green vegetables and butter. He said he ate nuts and fruits sparingly.

Within a month of reducing his carbohydrate intake, Cooksey says his blood sugar normalized.

“Everyone who does what I do improves their health markers. Every one of them. It works,” he said.

During a question and answer session, Cooksey disagreed. A few days later, he says he received a telephone call from the state agency that someone from the seminar filed a complaint against him, saying he was acting as an unlicensed dietitian.  Heaven forbid!

They ordered him to take down the part of his website where he offered his life-coaching services.    (CBS News)

POLICE STATE - Pastor Sentenced to Prison

• A world where a church Pastor is sentenced to prison for daring to teach his flock to discipline their children.
• A world where Big Brother Government orders that Pastor to not preach in his own church.  

A Black Earth church pastor who taught his flock to discipline their children with wooden spoons and rods was sentenced Friday to two years in prison.  

Philip Caminiti, 55, was pastor of Aleitheia Bible Church. His lawyer, Yolanda Lehner, asked that he be given probation reports the Wisconsin State Journal.

But Fascist Dane County Circuit Judge Maryann Sumi said the sentence, in part, was intended to send a message that child abuse will not be tolerated and to prevent Caminiti from once again teaching members of his church to spank their children with wooden objects to cure them of selfishness.

"What is important to me," Sumi also said, "is there was and continues to this day no expression of remorse or repentance for the consequences of those actions, or what the whole chain of events has led the family and the community through."

Caminiti was found guilty by a jury of eight counts of conspiracy to commit child abuse for teaching church members what he said was a literal interpretation of discipline prescribed by the Bible.

Caminiti will be on extended supervision for six years after his release from prison. Despite objections on constitutional grounds by Caminiti's lawyers, Sumi ordered that he not have any contact with the Aleitheia Bible Church and have no leadership role in any church.

Assistant District Attorney Shelly Rusch asked that Caminiti be sentenced to five years in prison and 15 years of extended supervision, calling him "the spoke in the wheel of this conspiracy."

She said Caminiti is unlikely to change despite his criminal convictions.

Lehner said she remains incredulous that Caminiti was even charged with a crime. "The whole thing has become much more flammable than I anticipated," she said. "I really do feel like I've stepped into the Spanish Inquisition."
