Anyone but Comrade Obama.  No matter who it is.

But there are choices for a select few Republican voters.  I say select few because most Republicans will have no say whatsoever on who the nominee will be. 

As a resident of the Golden State with millions of Republicans and 19 GOP Congressmen I will have no vote on the nominee.  The leaders of our People's Republic moved the primary back to June.  That way California Republicans will have no say in the race for President.  The same applies to GOP voters in many, many larger and important states.

Instead little crap holes like Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina will tell the entire nation who we are allowed to vote for.  See my article THE FEDERALIST - "Does anyone really give a damn about Iowa?"

But be that as it may.

There is only one rational choice for a Republican nominee based on the current field and the corrupt nomination process  -  Newt Gingrich.

For all his problems Newt, first and foremost, is a Patriot, a believer in the Constitution and is the smartest person in any room of people.  Unlike most candidates Newt speaks in complete sentences and does not drool on himself.  Finally, Newt is about the best we can do in the current field of candidates.

America is on the edge of a cliff.  We need someone with real thought, real ideas to pull us back.

ROMNEY  -  I am trying to hold down my vomit as I type this.  But Romney would be my second choice.  Unlike Obama, at least Romney believes that free enterprise should exist.  As bad as Romney is he will appoint non-Marxists to his administration and to the courts.  That buys the Liberty movement some time.

PERRY  -  You never get a second chance to make a first impression.  He is a good man in many ways, but that may not matter anymore.  We will see if he can make a comeback.

PAUL  -  Ron Paul best represents our Founding Fathers and many of my ideas.  But it is a fact of life that the Socialist leaning GOP voters want nothing to do with him.  We will have to wait a few years and run Rand Paul.

CAIN  -  Cain is not able.  He is bad news.  Cain was running for President in order to sell books and get his own talk show on Fox just like Huckabee.  A little free press never hurt.  Then totally by accident you have Michele Bachmann implode, Tim Pawlenty drop out and Rick Perry cut his own throat on live TV.  Suddenly ultra-minor talk show host Cain with 5% in the polls and no experience beyond making pizza and running Burger Kings is a front runner.  The man is making up his positions and campaign on a daily basis.  It would be an act of insanity to turn the nation over to an inexperienced person like Cain.

Like I said, Republicans in my state are disenfranchised.  But for those of you with a vote that matters please consider Newt.

A U.S. general responsible for training Afghan security forces has been relieved of his duties for making inappropriate remarks about Afghan President Hamid Karzai and saying the leaders of the war-battered country are “isolated from reality.”

Maj. Gen. Peter Fuller, deputy commander of NATO’s training mission in Afghanistan, made the comments in an interview posted on the Politico website Thursday. A day later, the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan, Gen. John Allen, released a statement saying Fuller had been relieved of his assignment reports the Los Angeles Times.

Politico quoted Fuller as calling Karzai’s comments “erratic,” adding, “Why don’t you just poke me in the eye with a needle! You’ve got to be kidding me. I’m sorry, we just gave you $11.6 billion and now you’re telling me, ‘I really don’t care?’…When they are going to have a presidential election, you hope they get a guy that’s more articulate in public.”

Fuller also accused Afghan leaders of being oblivious to America’s current economic plight. He said he recently told a group of Afghan generals, “You guys are isolated from reality. The reality is, the world economy is having some significant hiccups. The U.S. is in this (too). If you’re in a very poor country like Afghanistan, you think that America has roads paved in gold, everybody lives in Hollywood. They don’t understand the sacrifices that America is making to provide for their security.”

Criticizing what he claims were unreasonable demands made by Afghan leaders for assistance, Fuller added, “You can teach a man how to fish, or you can give them a fish. We’re giving them fish, while they’re learning, and they want more fish! (They say,) ‘I like swordfish, how come you’re giving me cod?’ Guess what, Cod’s on the menu today.”

Man arrested for daring to record his own conversation with the police.


A 21-year-old was arrested early on charges of recording the encounter he had with deputies during a traffic stop without permission.

Carl Paul of Pompano Beach, Florida was charged with illegal interception of communication.

Pulled over by a Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office deputy shortly after midnight near Hypoluxo and Highridge roads in Lantana, Paul questioned the traffic stop and recorded the conversation with deputies on his phone, according to arrest records.

Paul asked the deputies for their names while his iPhone sat on his leg. When the deputies noticed that Paul was recording the conversation, he said he was "documenting what was happening," the affidavit stated.

Paul was informed he did not have the deputies' permission to record, a violation of state law, and was arrested after he did not stop recording.    (The Sun Sentinel)

Big Brother is now in your hotel room


The Department of Homeland Security has effectively bullied 5,400 hotels to broadcast "public service" announcements to urge U.S. hotel guests to fight terrorism.

Guests turning the television on in their rooms in Marriott, Hilton, Sheraton, Holiday Inn and other hotels will see a welcome screen featuring a short PSA encouraging them to alert authorities if they notice something suspicious as they travel, USA Today reported.

Informing the "millions of guests that stay at hotels and motels each year is a significant step in engaging the full range of partners in our homeland security efforts," Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said.

The PSAs will be seen in 5,400 hotels serviced by the television service LodgeNet.   (Reports UPI)

Ghana's President John Atta Mills has rejected the United Kingdom's threat to cut aid if he refuses to legalize homosexuality.

Atta Mills said the UK could not impose its values on Ghana and he would never legalize homosexuality.

UK Prime Minister David Cameron said at the weekend that aid would be cut to countries which failed to respect gay rights, reports the BBC.

Uganda also rejected the threat, with an official accusing the UK of showing a "bullying mentality".
Most Africans argue that homosexuality violates their religious and cultural beliefs.

Atta Mills said Mr Cameron was entitled to his views, but he did not have the right to "direct to other sovereign nations as to what they should do".

He said Ghana's "societal norms" were different from those in the UK.

"I, as president, will never initiate or support any attempt to legalize homosexuality in Ghana," Mr Atta Mills said.

Ugandan presidential adviser John Nagenda said Mr Cameron was showing a "bullying mentality" and Ugandans would not tolerate being treated like "children".

"If they must take their money, so be it," Mr Nagenda said.

Ghana received bilateral aid from the UK of about £90m ($144m) during the last financial year, of which about £36m was as general budget support.

The genius of our Federalist Founding Fathers was seeing the evil in men.

Their answer was to divide power in so many ways that no one politician could establish a dictatorship.

The Founding Fathers knew all too well that the entire history of mankind is a series of one savage dictatorship after another by an elite ruling class that looted the wealth of their countries.

For almost the entire history of the world the common people had virtually no rights of any kind.  The people were at the mercy of local thugs and murderers with fancy titles like Count, Emir, Duke, Prince, Caesar, Shah or Czar.

Men always want to gather more and more power into their hands.  That is why the Founders established two houses of Congress that would always fight with each other as well as a President who would in then fight endlessly with Congress.  The leaders would all fight among themselves in trying to build personal power.  Only then, the Founders felt, would the liberty of the people be safe.

What is often overlooked is the creation of an independent judiciary of judges appointed for life.

 
The courts being overlooked is totally understandable.  There are few things more boring in life than to read the opinions of lawyers and judges.

The great Federalist judges appointed by George Washington and John Adams established the power of this third branch of government.  Both Federalist Chief Justices John Jay and John Marshall built the power of the court to review and block the actions of the other two branches of government.

The Founders were right.  President after President has tried to take the law into his own hands.  From Thomas Jefferson to Andrew Jackson to Abraham Lincoln to Woodrow Wilson to FDR to Comrade Obama, they all want more and more power.

Sometimes it is only the courts that stand in the way of power grabs by our Presidents.

9th Circuit Court of Appeals

All this was brought to my mind as Comrade Obama is looking to appoint several judges to openings on the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Nothing illustrates the division of power and the power of lifetime appointments more than the current make up of the 9th Circuit Court in the chart on the right.

On the 9th there are 43 Federal Judges spanning generations of American history.  The politics of so many Presidents are represented in current court opinions.

It is staggering that through their judicial appointments the administrations of John Kennedy and Richard Nixon are still having an impact on the policies of government in 2011.

This is what the Founders wanted.  Chief Justice John Marshall was still making law and directing the nation almost 60 years after serving with George Washington at Valley Forge and 35 years after being appointed to the bench by John Adams.

The system must be working, because at every point in history every political party has screamed about those damn lifetime judges and their power . . . . thank God they are there to watch over the Constitution.

Two elderly people have been lynched in Mozambique after being accused of witchcraft, state radio quotes a police spokesman as saying.

The killings have led to the arrest of six people, Radio Mozambique reports.

A non-governmental organisation says at least 20 Mozambicans have been killed this year for alleged witchcraft.

Such killings affect several African countries, where superstitious beliefs are rife because of poverty and illiteracy, correspondents say.

In Mozambique, the southern provinces of Inhambane and Gaza are worst affected, the BBC's Jose Tembe in the capital, Maputo, says.

The latest lynchings took place in Gaza, where six suspects - including teachers - are in police custody, he says.

'Evil spells'

A police spokesman told Radio Mozambique they would be put on trial for the deaths of the two elderly people.

A Mozambican NGO, the Forum of the Elderly, held talks with Prime Minister Aires Aly recently, urging him to take steps to ensure that old people are protected.

The NGO says it is aware of at least 20 old men and women being killed this year in Inhambane province alone and the countrywide figure is likely to be much higher.

With high levels of unemployment and poverty, the youth often blame old people - including grandparents - of casting evil spells over them.

But in the pansy liberal fantasy world of Charles Dickens businessmen like Scrooge are to be mocked in every possible way.  In a political dig Dickens even patterned Scrooge on a relative of free market economist Adam Smith named Ebenezer Lennox Scroggie.

Scrooge would have warned us that big spending Liberalism and Socialism would fail.  Here we are with the United States and Europe bankrupt.

Check out this wonderful "deal" worked out for Greece by the moron international bankers and their boot-licking political allies.    

• The European deal calls for private banks to take a 50% write-down on the value of the Greek bonds they hold.
• In return, Greece would get $140 billion in NEW bailout loans.

There is no way in Hell that Ebenezer Scrooge would run a bank or a government this way.  Nor would Scrooge stand for the insane spending beyond your means and phony printing press money by modern Socialist governments.  

THE SCROOGE SOLUTION  -  I firmly believe that Ebenezer would look long and hard at the international bankers and say, "Fire their asses and sell off the banks."

In the pretend world of Marxist economics you keep the idiots in place who created the problem in the first place.  Then you pour in more and more tax money to prop up the failed policies of bankers who have not a clue what they are doing.  After all, banks are too big to fail.

But in the real capitalist world of Scrooge you would use the banking laws to seize insolvent banks that are poorly run and made bad loans.  Then you fire those in charge and sell off the assets of the failed banks to other banks that are run properly.

That is Adam Smith and Ebenezer Scrooge capitalism.

But Europe is run by the Charles Dickens Socialists.  They are doomed.

The giant sucking sound of jobs leaving America

Years ago, when Ross Perot was running for President, he said free trade agreements would be the end of America. That "sucking sound" he called it. In fact Perot said, "it would wreck America." The wreck is here.

Ross Perot was right. So now that we've lost 15-25 million jobs to cheap foreign labor, just who is going to fuel the engine of growth? The illusion that we can spend our way out of debt is based on one single axiom. Growth. Growth is the engine that has allowed the U.S. to escape every economic downturn. So with the absence of all of those consumer purchasing, tax paying jobs, just how are we going to work our way out of debt?

Answer. We can't. In the past, we could spend our way out of debt. Easy credit greased and fueled growth. But we have lost all of our jobs- our ability to grow. That's why there is no end in sight.

Free Trade is a Myth

Looking back let me add that Ross Perot was right in 1992 about the sucking sound of jobs leaving the USA.  But the two corrupt ruling political parties in America and their lap-dog Media closed ranks and told the voters that Perot was "crazy" and you were wasting your vote. 

Free trade is a myth that exists in a classroom but nowhere else on earth.

China is a good example. 

The trade is not "free" when the Communist government of China uses the police power of the state to prevent the formation of labor unions, helps businesses run "legal" sweat shops, where there are no pollution laws, where there are companies owned by the Communist government of China, other companies that are partnerships of private business and the Communist Party,  where the state manipulates the currency to put their competitors out of business, and where the Communists subsidize businesses that directly compete with American companies.

Free trade cannot exist with a Communist Party dictatorship. 

But you can have Fair Trade agreements where those many factors in China and other nations are addressed using tariffs to even the playing field.

Perched atop the U.S. Embassy in Beijing is a device about the size of a microwave oven that spits out hourly rebukes to the Chinese government.

It is a machine that monitors fine particulate matter, one of the most dangerous components of air pollution, and instantly posts the results to Twitter and a dedicated iPhone application, where it is frequently picked up by Chinese bloggers.

One day this month, the reading was so high compared with the standards set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency that it was listed as "beyond index." In other words, it had soared right off the chart.

"You couldn't get such a high level in the United States unless you were downwind from a forest fire," said Dane Westerdahl, an air quality expert from Cornell University.

But China's own assessment that day, Oct. 9, was that Beijing's air was merely "slightly polluted."

 The U.S. monitor tracks tinier particles — less than 2.5 micrometers — that physicians say are capable of penetrating human lungs and other organs. Car and truck exhaust is a major source of fine particulate pollution, a particular problem in Beijing, where the number of registered cars has skyrocketed from to 5 million from 3.5 million in 2008.

Diplomatic cables released this year through WikiLeaks reveal that the Chinese government has asked the U.S. Embassy to stop publishing its data, which is posted hourly on Twitter at @beijingair, an account that has 9,200 followers.

In July 2009, a Foreign Ministry official complained that because the U.S. data conflicted with China's, they were causing "confusion" and undesirable "social consequences."
The embassy installed its monitor in 2008 before the Olympics to advise its personnel about air quality, but then decided it should make readings public under diplomatic rules that require that information regarding health and security risks be made available.

The measurements drew widespread attention last November, the first time a reading for fine particulate matter went above 500 micrograms per cubic meter, about seven times the U.S. standard for "acceptable" air quality.

The embassy ended up reporting that off-the-charts reading as "crazy bad." (Embassy officials say a computer programmer with a sense of humor embedded the language in the program linking the monitor to Twitter without realizing it would ever get used.)

The embassy quickly deleted the tweet and replaced it with "beyond index," but the fanciful description stuck in the imagination.

Merkel is moving to the left



Angela Merkel is taking her Christian Democratic Union party to the left in a move to try and keep power.  Merkel and the CDU have lost multiple state level elections this last year as the voters blame them for using the wealth of Germany to bail out all of Europe.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has performed another big U-turn by calling for a minimum wage, which she had opposed until now. She is sharpening her party's social profile in response to the euro crisis -- and, possibly, to secure her power by preparing another 'grand coalition' with the Social Democrats.

The so-called German "Conservatives" are in a panic after having lost multiple state elections this last year.  See THE FEDERALIST - "Merkel crushed again in German elections." 

There are some striking examples of Merkel vacating positions that had long been core to the agenda of her conservative Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party reports Spiegel On-line.

• Mandatory military service, that bedrock of CDU policy for decades? Merkel ditched it last year.
• Nuclear power.  Merkel arranged for an early exit just months after extending the lifetimes of reactors.
• The three-tiered system of secondary schools? A thing of the past.

And now it's the turn of social policy. At its party congress in November, the CDU plans to pass a motion that has long been the exclusive domain of the left-wing opposition parties: a minimum wage.

The CDU doesn't want the level to be set by the government, but it plans to seek a mandatory wage agreed by employers and trade unions in sectors that don't yet have a minimum wage. The lowest hourly pay rate is to be similar to the level that currently applies for temporary work: €7.79 ($10.92) in western Germany and €6.89 ($9.65) per hour in the east.

The new approach fits in with Merkel's drive to sharpen the CDU's social profile in response to the euro crisis , which has triggered a wave of public anger at the financial industry and concern that ordinary taxpayers are being made to foot the bill for profligate high-debt euro member states.

A BIG TURN TO THE LEFT  -  Together with Labor Minister Ursula von der Leyen, and much to the annoyance of the center-left Social Democrats, Merkel has been wooing voters with decidedly leftist policies of late. Von der Leyen plans to give pensioners a financial boost to combat old-age poverty, she has taken on discount supermarkets and has criticized German companies for resisting her plans for a minimum quota of women on company boards

"The question is no longer whether we're going to have a minimum wage but how one negotiates the right level," von der Leyen said in a recent interview with the Süddeutsche Zeitung newspaper. It sounded like she had been taking lessons from SPD leader Sigmar Gabriel.

The trade unions are predictably elated by Merkel's leftward shift. A general minimum wage had been expressly ruled out in the coalition agreement reached between her conservatives and their junior partner, the pro-business Free Democratic Party (FDP), after the 2009 election.

There is a lot of skepticism about the plan both within her own conservative ranks and in the FDP. Many representatives of the pro-business arm of the CDU regard minimum wages as bad for corporate competitiveness.

The co-leader of the opposition Greens, Cem Özdemir, said: "It is high time that the CDU at last gives up its opposition to the minimum wage. It's a central question of justice that people should be able to live off the money they earn."

The new approach is a warning to the Free Democrat Party. Merkel knows that the minimum wage is just about the last thing the FDP wants to push through in the final two years of the center-right government's term.  The fact that she is so ready to ignore the FDP is a measure of the low esteem in which she holds the party.
