British companies sold chemicals to Syria that could have been used to produce the deadly nerve agent that killed 1,400 people, The UK Mail revealed.

Between July 2004 and May 2010 the Government issued five export licences to two companies, allowing them to sell Syria sodium fluoride, which is used to make sarin.

The Government last night admitted for the first time that the chemical was delivered to Syria – a clear breach of international protocol on the trade of dangerous substances that has been condemned as ‘grossly irresponsible’ reports the UK Daily Mail.

The sales were made at a time when President Bashar Assad was strongly suspected to be stockpiling the chemical weapons that have caused an international crisis.

The UK firms delivered sodium fluoride to a  Syrian cosmetics company for what they claim were legitimate purposes. But intelligence experts believe President Assad’s regime uses such companies to divert chemicals into its weapons program.

Thomas Docherty MP, a member of the Commons Arms Export Controls Committee, said: ‘These are very disturbing revelations uncovered by The Mail on Sunday regarding the provision of sodium fluoride to Syria. At no time should we have allowed President Assad’s regime to get its hands on this substance.

‘Previously we thought that while export licences had been granted, no chemicals were actually delivered. Now we know that in the build-up to the Syrian civil war, UK companies – with the backing of our Government – were supplying this potentially lethal substance.

‘While the last export licence was issued in May 2010, these licences are obtained prior to manufacture and the industry standard is for four to five months to pass before  the chemicals are delivered.

'So we are looking at late 2010 for the  British supplies of sodium fluoride reaching Syria. The Government has some very serious questions  to answer.’

Last week it was revealed that the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) had granted export licences in 2012 – but they were not used to send sodium fluoride to Syria.

The European Union subsequently banned exports outright.

The West had no problem with Iraq gassing Iran

In 1980 the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency filed a report stating that Iraq had been actively acquiring chemical weapons capacities for several years, which later proved to be accurate.

In November 1980, two months into the Iran–Iraq War, the first reported use of chemical weapons took place when Tehran radio reported a poison gas attack on Susangerd by Iraqi forces. The United Nations reported many similar attacks occurred the following year, leading Iran to develop and deploy a mustard gas capability.

By 1984, Iraq was using poison gas with great effectiveness against Iranian "human wave" attacks. Chemical weapons were used extensively against Iran during the Iran–Iraq War. On January 14, 1991, the Defense Intelligence Agency said an Iraqi agent described, in medically accurate terms, military smallpox casualties he said he saw in 1985 or 1986.

Two weeks later, the Armed Forces Medical Intelligence Center reported that eight of 69 Iraqi prisoners of war whose blood was tested showed a current immunity to smallpox, which had not occurred naturally in Iraq since 1971; the same prisoners had also been inoculated for anthrax. The assumption being that Iraq used both smallpox and anthrax during this war.

The Washington Post reported that in 1984 the CIA secretly started providing intelligence to the Iraqi army during the Iran-Iraq War. This included information to target chemical weapons strikes.

The same year it was confirmed beyond doubt by European doctors and UN expert missions that Iraq was employing chemical weapons against the Iranians. Most of these occurred during the Iran–Iraq War, but WMDs were used at least once to crush the popular uprisings against Kurds in 1991.

Chemical weapons were used extensively, with more than 100,000 Iranian soldiers as victims of Saddam Hussein's chemical weapons during the eight-year war with Iraq.

millions of new workers to compete against Americans for jobs.

Endless Immigration & Unemployment  -  The giant corporations are calling for their bought and paid for hacks in Congress to "reform" immigration and legalize and import millions of new workers to compete directly with American citizens for work.

The pro-immigration liars in both parties ignore the fact that countless millions of American citizens are under and unemployed.  They don't care as long as wages are kept down for their corporate master who fund their campaigns.

The liars in Congress have already been pushing a bill giving 55,000 green cards a year to import doctoral and masters graduates to take jobs from Americans.

On Tuesday, the chief human resources officers of more than 100 large corporations sent a letter to House Speaker John Boehner and Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi urging quick passage of a comprehensive immigration reform bill.



The officials represent companies with a vast array of business interests: General Electric, The Walt Disney Company, Marriott International, Hilton Worldwide, Hyatt Hotels Corporation, McDonald's Corporation, The Wendy's Company, Coca-Cola, The Cheesecake Factory, Johnson & Johnson, Verizon Communications, Hewlett-Packard, General Mills, and many more.

All want to see increases in immigration levels for low-skill as well as high-skill workers, in addition to a path to citizenship for the millions of immigrants currently in the U.S. illegally reports the Washington Examiner.

A new immigration law, the corporate officers say, "would be a long overdue step toward aligning our nation's immigration policies with its workforce needs at all skill levels to ensure U.S. global competitiveness." The officials cite a publication of their trade group, the HR Policy Association, which calls for immigration reform to "address the reality that there is a global war for talent."

The way for the United States to win that war for "talent", they say, is more immigration.

Here is the track record of a few of the companies who signed the letter.

• 29,000 laid off 2012 by Hewlett-Packard
• 12,000 laid off over 3 years by Cisco Systems
• 3,000 to be laid off this year by United Technologies
• 5,400 to be laid off this year by American Express
• 5,700 laid off in 2012 by Procter & Gamble
• 2,250 laid off in 2012 by T-Mobile

There are more still. In all, it's fair to say a large number of the corporate signers of the letter demanding more labor from abroad have actually laid off workers at home in recent years. Together, their actions have a significant effect on the economy. According to a recent Reuters report, U.S. employers announced 50,462 layoffs in August, up 34 percent from the previous month and up 57 percent from August 2012.

"It is difficult to understand how these companies can feel justified in demanding the importation of cheap labor with a straight face at a time when tens of millions of Americans are unemployed," writes the Center for Immigration Studies, which strongly opposes the Senate Gang of Eight bill and similar measures. "The companies claim the bill is an 'opportunity to level the playing field for U.S. employers' but it is more of an effort to level the wages of American citizens."

• Technology like self-driving cars and trucks will abolish hundreds of thousands of jobs in the transportation industry alone. Some 3.5 million U.S. truck driving are threatened by this technology.

Now we see Germany's Daimler AG plans to start selling a self-driving car by 2020 as part of its campaign to regain the top spot among premium carmakers.

Carmakers and suppliers across the world are working on ways to make driving safer and more comfortable through automation, and the race is on to bring the technology to the mass market.

"We want to be the first to launch autonomous functions in production vehicles. You can be sure: we will accomplish that in this decade," Daimler head of development Thomas Weber said.

Daimler, battling to regain the top stop in the luxury car market from German rival BMW, is focusing on so-called highly automated driving, in which cars master situations such as cruising the motorway or maneuvering through traffic jams while the driver relaxes reports Business Insider.

The car would recognize difficult situations such as dealing with traffic lights or urban driving among pedestrians and cyclists, and hand control back to the human behind the wheel.

Daimler, the maker of Mercedes-Benz and Smart cars, is not alone in its ambitions. Japan's Nissan, for example, has also announced plans to launch a car completely guided by computers this decade.

Testing is already under way in many countries. U.S. Internet search and advertising group Google has fitted out several cars with radar-like equipment that lets them navigate roads in California and Nevada.

The technology will feature at this week's Frankfurt car show, the world's biggest, although experts say the move from dream to reality will likely take 10 to 15 years.

German auto supplier Continental aims to enable cars to drive themselves at speeds of up to 30 km per hour (18 miles per hour) by 2016, and at up to 60 km/h by 2020.

Google is reportedly discussing an alliance with Continental on self-driving cars that could be announced as soon as this week.

Around the world so-called "private" Chinese businesses that are connected to and funded by the Communist Party are buying up massive amounts of farmland and natural resources for shipment back to China.

The next Chinese target is the American company Smithfield Foods which won national security clearance for its proposed $4.7 billion sale to a Chinese meat processor, overcoming one of the biggest obstacles to a takeover.

The approval by an important government committee came despite the deep-seated skepticism of a group of lawmakers, who professed concern over a Chinese company owning Smithfield, America’s biggest pork producer.

The acquisition, which must still receive approval by Smithfield shareholders, would be the largest takeover of a U.S. company by a Chinese firm.

Analysts, however, are expecting Smithfield and its suitor, Shuanghui International, to prevail. The Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States, commonly known as Cfius (pronounced SIF-ee-us), has historically reviewed acquisitions involving key industries like energy and technology. But it has little precedent in examining them in the food sector. Both companies have argued that their combination poses no danger of compromising American food safety standards reports Farmland Grab News,

Smithfield, America’s biggest pork producer, to be sold to China.

Indeed, they have contended that the goal is to export more Smithfield pork to China, satisfying rising demand for high-quality meat in that country. “This transaction will create a leading global animal protein enterprise,” Zhijun Yang, Shuanghui’s chief executive, said in a statement on Friday.

“Shuanghui International and Smithfield have a long and consistent track record of providing customers around the world with high-quality food, and we look forward to moving ahead together as one company.” But the takeover, the largest ever of an American company by a Chinese counterpart, was almost certain to attract scrutiny.

Senator Debbie Stabenow, Democrat of Michigan and chairwoman of the committee, said in a statement: “It remains unclear what factors the committee took into account in making its decision. We still do not know if the potential impact on American food security, the transfer of taxpayer-funded innovation to a foreign competitor, or China’s protectionist trade barriers were considered. It’s troubling that taxpayers have received no assurances that these critical issues have been taken into account in transferring control of one of America’s largest food producers to a Chinese competitor with a spotty record on food safety.”

Washington lawmakers have expressed concerns that the purchase of Smithfield by a Chinese company could squeeze U.S. pork supply as more of the meat goes overseas while leaving the U.S. susceptible to food safety concerns that have plagued Chinese companies, including Shuanghui. They also have worried that the acquisition would lead to additional takeovers of U.S. food companies by Chinese firms.

Two witnesses called by the committee — Usha C.V. Haley, an expert on Chinese business strategy at West Virginia University, and Daniel Slane, a member of the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission, a group appointed by Congress — expressed multiple doubts about the transaction.

Ms. Haley said that pork was a “strategically important industry for China” as the growing ranks of the middle class demand more sources of high-quality protein. “The same patterns that occurred in other strategically important industries,” like paper, steel and glass, she said, “will repeat in this sector and the United States will lose its competitive edge in food, becoming dependent on China.”

Mr. Slane said that the fact that Shuanghui was effectively controlled by the Chinese government meant that it presented a national security threat to the United States.

The top executive at Shuanghui “is a high-ranking member of the Chinese Communist Party,” Mr. Slane said, and he was appointed to that job by the party. “If he does not do what they say, they will remove him or worse.”

In addition, the transaction is being financed in part by the Bank of China, Mr. Slane said. “The Bank of China does not finance any transaction unless it is told to do so by the Chinese government,” he said. “By any measure, this is a Chinese-controlled company.”

Conservatives sweep Norway's elections

The bloc of four right-wing parties won 96 of 169 seats

The anti-immigration Progress Party won 29 seats.

Norwegian center-right leader Erna Solberg is set to form a new government after Labour Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg admitted election defeat.

Solberg described her win as "a historic election victory for the right-wing parties".

Her Conservative Party is widely expected to form a government with the anti-immigration Progress Party.

The bloc of four right-wing parties had won 96 of 169 seats in parliament reports BBC News.

Solberg, 52, will become Norway's second female prime minister after Gro Harlem Brundtland, and its first Conservative prime minister since 1990.

She is nicknamed "Iron Erna" for her robust views when she served in the cabinet between 2001 and 2005.

Much attention is now focused on the Progress Party, poised to enter government for the first time.

Ms Solberg also needs a third coalition partner to ensure a majority - but it is not yet clear whether the smaller Christian Democrats or Liberals are prepared to work with the Progress Party. They may instead opt to stay out, but give parliamentary support to a minority government comprising the Conservatives and Progress.

Correspondents say the Progress Party has toned down its anti-immigration rhetoric since Anders Behring Breivik's atrocity in 2011.

When the U.S. had free elections

John Quincy Adams (above) lived in an America back when the Republic actually functioned.  The people could easily create brand new parties or abandon old ones to impact policy Washington D.C.

Over his hugely long career Adams belonged to five different political parties.  He was a Federalist Party U.S. Senator, belonged to the Democrat-Republicans, the National Republicans and was elected to the House as a member of the Anti-Masonic and Whig Parties.

The elections of the 1830s were free and saw four different parties  serving in the House at the same time.  The American system of a free multi-party Republic went on until 1948 when the last small party won election to the House.

Free elections no longer exist in America.  The U.S. is the only democracy on earth where the same two corrupt parties magically win 100% of all elections.  A multi-party democracy can be restored by a simple majority vote of the House of Representatives to expand the House and to vastly shrink the massive super-sized House districts.  Smaller districts allow the voters to strike fear into the corrupt Beltway Elites with competitive elections.

But it will be a cold day in Hell when the House votes to make their elections competitive.  The Elites of both parties like a centralized system where incumbents are protected and fully funded by Billionaire Cartels of unions and businesses out to loot the treasury.

Up to 10 years in prison for spreading "false" information

Blogging is not a crime  -  The power of Blogging has frightened to death corrupt political elites from Saudi Arabia to America to China.  The fascists of the world cannot stand the idea that the common man now owns his own Internet printing press and can speak out against authoritarianism.

Communist China's leaders have accelerated a renewed push for control of the Internet with draconian new regulations that allow them to impose lengthy jail terms on those convicted of spreading online rumors or using social media to provoke unrest.

The proliferation of Twitter-like social media platforms such as Sina Weibo, which has more than 500 million users, has posed a challenge to the CPC’s control over information, with microblogs increasingly shaping public discourse in China.

Micro-bloggers who peddle "false information" or "slanderous comments" will face up to three years in prison, according to a judicial interpretation issued by China's top court which came into force on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, those found guilty of using "false online information" to provoke "serious public disorder", could face jail terms of up to 10 years, the state-run China Daily reported.

Charges would be brought if "defamatory" comments were "viewed by at least 5,000 Internet users or re-tweeted 500 or more times", according to China's official news agency Xinhua reports the UK Telegraph.

Sun Jungong, a spokesman for the Supreme People's Court and Procuratorate, said the interpretation was aimed at rumor mongers who "gravely harmed social order or the national interest" by "causing a mass incident, disturbing public order and inciting ethnic and religious conflicts."

"Some internet users fabricate rumors about others and create false information while making use of sensitive social issues, which has disrupted social order and triggered mass incidents," he said, according to Xinhua.

While state media said the new rules were "timely" and "another means for authorities to ensure the healthy development of the Internet", freedom of speech activists and some lawyers expressed alarm at the move.

Mo Shaoping, a leading human rights lawyers, said he hoped the measures would help prevent "absurd" cases such as one where a micro-blogger was arrested for tweeting that nine people had died in an accident when, in fact, the true number was only seven.

"[But] if not handled properly, this might have negative effect on freedom of speech and the online fight against corruption," he added. "I believe that in the near future online free speech and the exposure of corruption will be suppressed."

Yuan Yulai, another rights lawyer who has over 1.3 million followers on China's Twitter-like microblog Weibo, complained that the interpretation had been published "too hastily" and without public consultation.

The ongoing crackdown had "caused some panic" among micro-bloggers, he added. "I believe this is happening because the party and government are not used to the idea of a free society [or] democracy."

Writing on the Tech in Asia website, Charlie Custer, a China-focused blogger and commentator, said he feared "the new laws will be used to cow social media users into silence, and probably also used as a weapon for well-connected people to attack political or business rivals, rather than as a way of enforcing any actual standard of truth online."

The Chinese president Xi Jinping recently instructed Communist Party propaganda officials to "wage a war to win over public opinion" and "seize" control of new media, Hong Kong's South China Morning Post reported last week.

Bullshit Alert  -  The political Bullshit is flowing deep and heavy.  Here is my latest theory.  Obama does not care if there is a war or not. This has all been a cynical ploy to keep the Police State NSA and IRS scandals off TV and the media.

If war "breaks" out, fine for Obama.  War crushes scandal stories.  But a threat of possible war could be dragged out for months accomplishing the same thing.

In any case, Obama goes on playing the game of war for TV.  He is telling the weak of mind about all the "allies" we have in attacking Syria.  None of these countries are sending their military to help, but don't worry, we are in their thoughts.

The White House announced Monday that Albania is on board with the Obama administration’s plans to punish Syria.

Tiny Estonia, too, has agreed that Syria must be held accountable for using chemical weapons. And Croatia, Denmark, Germany, Honduras, Hungary, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania and Morocco.

And let’s not leave out Qatar, Romania and the United Arab Emirates.

They are the latest countries to sign on to a statement condemning the Syrian regime and calling for a “strong international response,” although not necessarily the missile strikes proposed by Obama. A total of 25 nations support the statement, including the U.S. and Great Britain.

Christians Should Be Executed, Afghan Lawmakers Say

An anti-Christian hate campaign involving several leading Afghan lawmakers and media outlets is proving what many of us already knew - there is no freedom of religion or freedom of thought under Islam.

The anger is directed at Afghan Christians in India – where thousands of Afghan refugees remain and a small church congregation meets in New Delhi – and that the lawmakers concerned are calling for them to face the death penalty reports CNS News.

Converts from Islam to Christianity should be killed according to Islamic law (shari’a), in a bid to stop the growth of Christianity among Afghans inside and outside the country, according to one leading member of parliament cited by the Afghan Voice Agency news service.

Mohabat News, an independent Iranian Christian news agency, reported on Sunday that Nazir Ahmad Hanafi said several weeks ago that “Afghani citizens continue to convert to Christianity in India. Numerous Afghanis have become Christians in India. This is an offense to Islamic laws and according to the Qur’an they need to be executed.”

Hanafi, an independent who represents the province of Herat, is a prominent lawmaker who heads the parliament’s Legislative Commission and reportedly received the third highest number of votes in the 2010 parliamentary election.

Mohabat said another lawmaker, Abdul Latif Pedram, blamed the reported increase in conversions to Christianity on the presence of U.S. forces. “The presence of the U.S. in Afghanistan results in the conversion of Afghans to Christianity,” it quoted Pedram – an unsuccessful presidential candidate in 2004 and 2009 – as saying. “The United States’ long-term plan is to attack Afghani culture.

Converting Afghan citizens serves that purpose.” Mohabat and Barnabas Fund both noted that the speaker of the national parliament, Abdul Rauf Rahimi, also waded in to the debate over converts, instructing the parliamentary national security committee to follow up the issue. Barnabas Fund said that after the parliamentary debates some media outlets got involved.

“For ten consecutive nights at the end of August, two TV channels broadcast photos of the leader of the Afghan church in Delhi, calling for him to be executed, and also showed images of other Afghan converts in India plus footage of baptisms,” it said.

The Union of Catholic Asia News reported last month on the New Delhi congregation of Afghan Christians, quoting a pastor as saying its members are frequently threatened by Afghan Muslims, and saying the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) did not pay proper attention to the plight of Afghan Christians.

Obama's rebels forced Christians to convert to Islam

Terrified Christians claim Syrian rebels ordered them to convert to Islam on pain of death when they ‘liberated’ their ancient village.

Opposition forces, including fighters linked to Al Qaeda, gained temporary control of the Christian village of Maaloula after fighting with regime forces.

The reports have reignited fears about western support for the rebel groups, which are increasingly being infiltrated by Islamic extremists reports the UK Daily Mail.

One Maaloula resident said the rebels, many of whom had beards and shouted ‘Allahu Akbar’ (God is great), attacked Christian homes and churches shortly after moving into the village. 

‘They shot and killed people. I heard gunshots and then I saw three bodies lying in the middle of a street in the old quarters of the village. Where is President Obama to see what has befallen us?’

Another Christian resident said: ‘I saw the militants grabbing five villagers and threatening them and saying, “Either you convert to Islam, or you will be beheaded”.’

Another said one church had been torched, and gunmen stormed into two other churches and robbed them.

The beautiful mountain village, 25 miles from Damascus, is one of the few places in the world where residents still use the ancient language of Aramaic, which was spoken by Jesus and his disciples. 

Villagers said they heard several foreign accents among the rebels, with many feared to be Al Qaeda fighters imported into the conflict. A villager said he heard mainly Tunisian, Libyan, Moroccan and Chechen dialects.
