Blogger publishes home addresses of anti-gun newspaper employees

Blogger Christopher Fountain retaliated against a New York newspaper by publishing the addresses and phone numbers of the newspaper's staff.

• Love it!  Using the 1st Amendment against those using the 1st Amendment to destroy the 2nd Amendment.

A few days ago, the Journal News published a map of the names and addresses of everyone in Westchester and Rockland counties who owns a gun permit, which it obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request.

It was an insane act by insane liberals bent on threatening and intimidating people who legally own weapons in a free nation.

So Blogger Christopher Fountain retaliated against a New York newspaper, which recently published the addresses of local gun owners, by publishing the addresses and phone numbers of the newspaper's staff.

On Monday, Fountain began publishing the names, addresses and contact information of the newspaper's publisher and editor, and staff members who worked on the gun owners' map. Readers came up with information for other staff members, and Fountain listed those employees as well.

The blogger explained why he did it, speaking on CNN Thursday. "Somehow, [The Journal News was] conflating legal gun owners with some crazed, tormented devil up in Newtown and putting the two together," he alleged. "And I was offended by that and I wondered how they'd like it if their addresses were published."

Gun owners across the country are outraged after a New York newspaper intentionally revealed the names and addresses of handgun permit holders.

"At first, I didn't believe what I was reading,” said Tom Verri.

Verri is a retired police officer who now lives in Fernandina Beach, but spent most of his career working in Westchester County, N.Y. Over the holidays, The Journal News decided to publish an online interactive map revealing the names and addresses of anyone in Westchester or Rockland counties with a pistol permit.

"I find it hard to believe that nobody took the time to think that maybe a good portion of people on that list could possibly be in danger now, including police officers and their families,” Verri said.

“We knew publication of the database would be controversial but we felt sharing as much information as we could about gun ownership in our area was important in the aftermath of the Newtown shootings,” the paper's editor and vice-president of news says. The publisher also points out that the permits are, by law, public record. "New York residents have the right to own guns with a permit," she says, "and they also have a right to access public information."

On Wednesday’s broadcast of Fox News Channel’s “The Five,” co-host Greg Gutfeld took on Westchester County, N.Y.’s The Journal News for publishing the names and addresses of gun owners.

“So, a New York paper called The Journal News is under fire for printing names and addresses of local gun owners, even adding a map that shows exactly where they live,” Gutfeld said.

“Some gun owners are ticked, which is wrong because this article is the best argument for gun ownership ever. I mean, if you knew that an idiotic editor would out non-gun owners, wouldn’t you get a gun to protect yourself with the thugs the paper just enabled? You think the paper works for the NRA? If anything, non-gun owners should be livid for the paper made them the easiest marks. Just look at this map — what do you see? Not just pockets of gun owners in red, but pockets without. How comfy would you feel knowing your gun-free zone is now public?”

Gutfeld went on to call out the media for turning its back on the privacy of individuals who are gun owners and celebrities who have newly found opinion on the gun issue.

“Remember when the media once championed privacy?” he continued. “I guess they only champion it for the folks that they like. But listening to the media talk about guns is listening to a tree talk about algebra. Consider celebrities like Beyoncé speaking out on gun control. Someone might tell her that of all the problems her husband Jay-Z has, owning a gun ain’t one.

I bet if there were a gun map of Hollywood it would light up like Rudolph’s nose. And even if a starlet’s house doesn’t show up, that’s because the gun belongs to a bodyguard or boy toy.

So, the next time a liberal asks if you own a gun, return the question and preface it with the fact that the answer, once public, impacts his family’s safety. But really the best response to someone asking if you own a gun: ‘None of your damn business, but you’re welcome to find out, and not by opening a paper.’”

Tax cheat and Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner said the U.S. debt limit of $16.394 trillion will be met on New Year’s Eve, in a letter to Congress on Wednesday.

“I am writing to inform you that the statutory debt limit will be reached on December 31, 2012, and to notify you that the Treasury Department will shortly begin taking certain extraordinary measures authorized by law to temporarily postpone the date that the United States would otherwise default on its legal obligations,” Geithner said in the letter addressed to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.)

Geithner said “extraordinary measures” taken by the Treasury Department could create approximately $200 billion in headroom under the debt limit.

“Under normal circumstances, that amount of headroom would last approximately two months,” he said. “However, given the significant uncertainty that now exists with regard to unresolved tax and spending policies for 2013, it is not possible to predict the effective duration of these measures.”

Let's bottom line it.  Caesar Obama is murdering (assassinating) hundreds of people in Yemen without any authority from Congress.  There has been no debate nor a Declaration of War from the representatives of the people. 

Our Imperial President says he can kill who he wants, when he wants, for any reason he wants.  No jury trial is needed.  If Caesar says you are guilty then you die.

Members of Congress have once again violated their oath to defend the Constitution of the United States.  But who really gives a crap at this point?  Congress has already violated their oath so many times my head is spinning.

Caesar Obama has intensified airstrikes against the Yemeni group Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, which plotted in 2009 and 2010 to blow up American airliners.

A 2011 drone attack killed Anwar Awlaki, an American-born Muslim preacher and militant recruiter. Weeks later, a U.S. airstrike killed Awlaki's 16-year-old son, who tribesmen and relatives say had no links to terrorism.

The Long War Journal, a website that tracks U.S. drone activity, reports that since 2002, America has launched 57 airstrikes in Yemen, killing 299 militants and 82 civilians. The number of strikes has risen dramatically from four in 2010 to 40 so far this year.

The U.S., which this year has given Yemen $337 million in military and security aid.

This sound like a war to a simple person like me, but neither Democrats not Republicans in Congress care.

A very good question.  Congress did not grant Caesar Obama the power to be judge, jury and executioner.  But our Caesar roams the world dealing death at will.  Caesar alone decides who shall live and who shall die.

Yemeni security officials say that era is ending, and they're stepping up military offensives to rout extremists — fighters from Libya, Somalia and other nations, and assassins on motorcycles intent on killing intelligence officials.

But is the US killing Islamists? or simply killing the enemies of one group looking to hold power?

• A beheading on December 24 raises to 76 the number of people executed so far this year in the ultra-conservative Muslim kingdom, where 79 were put to death in 2011 according to Amnesty International.

Rueters reports that the editor of a Saudi Arabian website could be sentenced to death after a judge cited him for apostasy and moved his case to a higher court, the monitoring group Human Rights Watch said.

Raif Badawi, who started the Free Saudi Liberals website to discuss the role of religion in Saudi Arabia, was arrested in June, Human Rights Watch said.

Badawi had initially been charged with the less serious offence of insulting Islam through electronic channels, but at a December 17 hearing a judge referred him to a more senior court and recommended he be tried for apostasy, the monitoring group said.

Apostasy, the act of changing religious affiliation, carries an automatic death sentence in Saudi Arabia, along with crimes including blasphemy.

Badawi's website included articles that were critical of senior religious figures, the monitoring group said.

A spokesman for Saudi Arabia's Justice Ministry was not available to comment.

The world's top oil exporter follows the strict Wahhabi school of Islam and applies Islamic law, or sharia.

Judges base their decisions on their own interpretation of religious law rather than on a written legal code or on precedent.

King Abdullah, Saudi Arabia's ruler, has pushed for reforms to the legal system, including improved training for judges and the introduction of precedent to standardize verdicts and make courts more transparent.

However, Saudi lawyers say that conservatives in the Justice Ministry and the judiciary have resisted implementing many of the changes that he announced in 2007.

• Comrade Obama carried 5 Pennsylvania congressional districts, giving him 7 electoral college votes (including his 2 for winning statewide) to Mitt Romney’s 13 votes.
• Do we want Presidents selected by corrupt gerrymandered districts?  or is it simply fair?

State Reps. Robert Godshall (R-Montco) and Seth Grove (R-York) want Pennsylvania to divvy ups its electoral college votes by congressional district. It’s a plan originally pitched by Sen. Dominic Pileggi in 2011 and would have nullified President Obama’s Pa. advantage had it been in effect in 2012.

In their co-sponsorship memo, they essentially concede that Pa. is no longer a competitive presidential state.

“I believe that the Congressional District Method will increase voter turnout and encourage candidates to campaign in all states rather than just those that are competitive,” the two wrote. “Most importantly, this method of selecting presidential electors will give a stronger voice to voters in all regions of our great Commonwealth.”

Once a reliable battleground state, Pennsylvania spent most of the 2012 presidential campaign on the sidelines.

The plan would give one electoral vote to the winner of each congressional district plus 2 for the winner statewide.

Obama won Pa. by about 310,000 votes – 5.4 percent. But it looks like he won just 5 congressional districts, giving him 7 electoral college votes (including his 2 for winning statewide) to Mitt Romney’s 13.

That’s because Republican map-drawers packed Democratic voters into high concentration urban districts. The state’s 13 Republican members of Congress won by an average of 19.5 percent; the closest margin, CD-13, was 3.4 points. The state’s 5 Democratic members of congress won by an average of 52.5 percent; the closest margin, CD-17, was 20.6 points. That’s an average difference of 33 points.

Editor’s note: we’re keeping our eye on the DailyKos tabulations of presidential vote by congressional district which so far have just 4 of 18 districts. The 6th, 7th and 15th districts are the only ones represented by a Republican Congressman where Obama conceivably could have won. The most interesting so far: Romney narrowly won Mike Fitzpatrick’s 8th congressional district, 49.4 percent to Obama’s 49.3 percent.

Pileggi’s plan lost steam back in 2011 and he recently introduced a modified version that would allocate electoral votes proportionally with no relation to congressional districts.

Meanwhile national Republicans are encouraging GOP state legislators to tinker with electoral college allocation in blue states like Pa., Michigan and Wisconsin.

Democratic critics note that no such effort is taking place in reliably Republican presidential states like Texas, where the same proposal would benefit Democratic candidates.

The controversial NDAA bill, which allows for the military to imprison Americans indefinitely without a trial was approved by the Senate.

Constitutional Federalist Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) has decried the law as an “abomination.”

The libertarian Republican voiced his concerns to a conference committee following the decision to give the present version of National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) the go-ahead. Paul cited the committee’s decision to scrap an amendment that would have prohibited the indefinite detention of US citizens suspected of terrorist activities.

"It's [the amendment] been removed because they want the ability to hold American citizens without trial in our country. This is so fundamentally wrong and goes against everything we stand for as a country that it can't go unnoticed,” Paul told the committee. He went on to condemn the bill as an “abomination” that deprives US citizens of the right to a fair trial reports RT News - USA.

"When you're accused of a crime in our country you get a trial, you get a trial by a jury of your peers, no matter how heinous your crime is, no matter how awful you are, we give you a trial," he said.

“The decision by the NDAA conference committee, led by Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), to strip the National Defense Authorization Act of the amendment that protects American citizens against indefinite detention now renders the entire NDAA unconstitutional,” Paul said in a statement.

The legislation also stipulates a significant increase in the Pentagon budget, including $88.5 billion for America's ongoing wars and other operations around the world. The total amount of military spending set out in the new bill is $1.7 billion over what the Obama Administration initially put forward in its 2013 budget.

At least 12 people died in in northern Nigeria when Muslim terrorists raided two churches during Christmas Eve services, police said.

One assault occurred at the Church of Christ in Nations in Postikum, in Yobe province. Gunmen attacked worshipers during prayer, killing six people, including the pastor, and setting the building on fire.

 

 

Worshipers also were attacked at the First Baptist Church in Maiduguri, in Borno state. A deacon and five church members were killed reports Cable News Network.

 

They were the latest strikes against Christians in the region. More than 30 people died in a wave of Christmas Day attacks in the north last year, blamed on Boko Haram, a militant group that has targeted Christians and Muslims it considered insufficiently Islamist.

 

"Suspected members of the group have bombed or opened fire on worshipers in at least 18 churches across eight northern and central states since 2010. In Maiduguri, the group also forced Christian men to convert to Islam on penalty of death," Human Rights Watch said in an October report.

• Muslims threw not only rotten eggs but plastic bags filled with urine and cow dung at Christians.

More than 200 Indonesian Muslims threw rotten eggs at Christians wanting to hold a Christmas mass near land outside Jakarta where they plan to build a church, police and a witness said.

Some 100 Christian worshippers intended to hold a mass near empty land where they hope to build a church, about 30-kilometre (18 miles) east of the capital, in a project barred by district government and community members in 2009.

Since then, worshippers from the Filadelfia Batak Christian Protestant have held Sunday services under scorching sun outside the property reports The West Australian.

On Tuesday, however, local community members blocked the road near the land, Andri Ananta, a local police chief on Jakarta's outskirts, told AFP.

An AFP photographer witnessed furious locals -- men and women wearing Muslim headscarf, with small children in tow -- physically blocking the road and throwing rotten eggs at the gathering worshippers.

Ananta said police managed to convince the Christians to drop their plan and return home.

"We tried our best to avoid any clash and the Christians agreed to leave," he said, adding 380 police and military personnel including an anti-riot squad were deployed to the area.

Church leader Reverend Palti Panjaitan said the incident came after a Christmas Eve attack Monday evening when "intolerant people" threw not only rotten eggs but plastic bags filled with urine and cow dung at them.

"Everything had happened while police were there. They were just watching without doing anything to stop them from harming us," he told AFP.

US deploying troops to 35 African countries

• Americans battle militant Islam is some nations.  But the US Army is "helping" in many other nations where nations like China, India, Brazil and Iran are investing in natural resources like oil and gas.

The United States Army will be deploying troops to nearly three-dozen African nations in the coming year.

Soldiers based out of Fort Riley, Kansas’ 2nd Brigade, 1st Infantry Division will begin training in March 2013 in order to prepare for a project that will send troops to as many as 35 African nations, the Associated Press reports.

Citing a growing threat from extremist groups, including those with ties to al-Qaeda, the Department of Defense is hoping to install American soldiers overseas in order to prepare local troops there for any future crises as tensions escalate.

Earlier this month, DoD sources with insider knowledge told the Washington Post that US troops will soon be en route to the nation of Mali in order to thwart the emerging threat of Islamic extremists, including al-Qaeda aligned insurgents. With the latest news from the Pentagon, though, Mali will be just one of many African nations hosting US troops in the coming year says RT News USA.

According to the AP’s update this week, soldiers will be sent overseas in the new year to assist only with training and equipping efforts, and are not necessarily permitted to participate in military operations. Should the Pentagon ask the troops to engage in battle, however, the secretary of defense could sign off on an order that would allow as much.

"If they want them for (military) operations, the brigade is our first sourcing solution because they're prepared," Gen. David Rodriguez, the head of U.S. Army Forces Command, tells the AP. "But that has to go back to the secretary of defense to get an execute order."

Despite the troops being deployed to more than half of the countries in Africa, though, the AP reports that Uncle Sam will try to avoid giving the impression that the United States is leaving a substantial footprint across the continent.

"The challenge we have is to always understand the system in their country," explains Rodriguez. "We're not there to show them our system, we're there to make their system work. Here is what their army looks like, and here is what we need to prepare them to do."

Sources speaking with the AP say that the United States has already prepared nearly 100 different exercises and training programs to conduct with African troops during the coming year.

Calvin Coolidge was President the last time the GOP cut even one cent from the Federal budget.

• The nation is headed for bankruptcy and inflation.  Does the Socialist-lite GOP have the willpower to cut any spending of any kind?

Spending will increase 55 percent over the next decade, if Comrade Obama's budget plan goes into effect. The finding comes from the Republican-side of the Senate Budget Committee, which notes that Obama's "Proposal Would Spend $880 Billion Over Already Projected Increases."

"The President's last fiscal cliff offer once again increased spending rather than reducing it," writes the minority-side of the Senate Budget Committee.

"His plan does claim $800 billion in spending reductions over ten years, but these claims are more than offset by new spending increases: increasing spending above BCA limits ($1,200 billion); paying for the doc fix ($400 billion); new transportation stimulus spending ($50 billion), and; a one-year extension of unemployment insurance ($30 billion).
