The elections this week around the United States are typical of our normal elections. 

It was a mixed bag of results.  Some GOP victories in Virginia, a GOP defeat in New Jersey, a GOP loss in Arizona and only God himself can figure what the Hell the people of Ohio want.

In other words, a standard American election.

Politically the U.S. has not changed much over the centuries.  Elections often end up very close affairs because the people are very divided.

 A good example is the history book MYTH of Theodore Roosevelt.  The myth of the popular "Rough Riders."  The myth of the Colonel of the First U.S. Volunteer Cavalry Regiment.

But the truth of Roosevelt and the Spanish-American War is different. 

Only some 120 days after TR's charge up San Juan Hill 51% of New York voters opposed Roosevelt's election as Governor in November, 1898.

• 653,879 votes   -   Augustus Van Wyck  (Democrat)  48.4%
• 23,860   -   Benjamin Hanford  (Socialist Labor)

Some 1,349,974 votes were cast in New York.  A change of only 8,893 votes and there would have been a Democratic Governor and an open space on Mt. Rushmore.

Then and today the nation was deeply divided into two camps over issues like labor unions, war, economics, imperialism, state's rights and big business. 

2012 ELECTIONS

History shows that many of our Presidential elections are very close affairs.  The down ticket races for Congress, Governorships and state legislatures can often be the same.  The Roosevelt election shows that a change of just a few votes in a local race will catapult a politician into the national spotlight or send him off into obscurity.

With a divided government there is a certain amount of blame to go around in the eyes of voters.  Naturally Comrade Obama will be the focus.  A bad economy will reflect back on him to some degree.  But many times the mistakes of your opponent are more important than the positive actions of your campaign.  

Even if there is an Obama blowout defeat at the Presidential level, you should expect very close down ticket elections.  An angry American public might want Obama gone but then vote to keep the Senate in Democratic hands as a check on GOP power.

Anything can and will happen in the next 12 months.


"The Colonel" was not as popular as the GOP propaganda machine would tell you.  Only 120 days after the charge up San Juan Hill 51% of New York voters voted against Roosevelt and the Republican Party nearly sending Roosevelt off into political oblivion.

AN AIRPORT WITHOUT AIRPLANES

Spain may have won the Grand Prize for insane government spending.  They built a huge modern airport at great expense that has no passengers and no airplanes.

Ciudad Real Central Airport boasts a runway long enough for the world's biggest jumbo jets. Its backers confidently predicted that ten million passengers would pass through each year, relieving traffic at Madrid's busy international hub nearly 150 miles to the north reports the Los Angeles Times.

But only 33,000 people bothered to use the state-of-the-art facility in 2010. The ill-conceived airport, which cost about $1.5 billion to build and was subsidized by the Castilla-La Mancha regional government, now stands a good chance of being closed down.

Only discount airline Ryanair used the airport, but it eventually abandoned the facility. The regional government then agreed to subsidize three flights a week by another low-cost carrier, Vueling, but it, too, has decided to pull out.  The airport's future is now uncertain.

Spain's empty Ciudad Real Central Airport was built at a cost $1.5 billion and was subsidized by the Castilla-La Mancha regional government.  The government projected traffic of up to 10 million people a year.  In all of 2010 only 33,000 people used the airport.

The airport helps illustrate why Europe's relentless debt crisis goes far deeper than national governments. Profligate local government spending across the European Union constitutes ticking time bombs that policymakers are only beginning to deal with.

The credit ratings of 10 of Spain's regions were downgraded, including the economic powerhouse of Catalonia, home to Barcelona. The Catalonian government has taken the unusual step of selling up to $5 billion in bonds to private citizens to fund its debt because it has in effect been shut out of the commercial markets owing to the deepening euro debt crisis.

Through heavy social spending and investments in major building projects, Spain is one country whose regional authorities have been living beyond their means and racking up large budget deficits.  Spain's 17 regional governments were told to post budget shortfalls amounting to no more than 1.3% of GDP, but they almost reached that level after just the first six months of the year.

Next door in Portugal

Portugal was flabbergasted this year when auditors found that the governor of Madeira island had hidden $1.8 billion in debts in public accounts, the result of wild overspending on projects such as an extensive network of roads.

Madeira's controversial governor, Alberto Joao Jardim, who has headed the island for 33 years and is one of the world's longest-serving democratically elected leaders, remains unrepentant.

"I'm proud of having contracted debts. God bless the debt.... It has been put to the service of the dignity of every man and every woman," Jardim declared at a campaign rally before regional elections last month. He won another term.

Big Brother is coming to South America in the form of the Chinese Communist Party.  The Communists are buying virtually everything they can get their hands on.  Oil, gas, assorted minerals and crops are being sent back to China from their new "Colony" of Argentina.

China is ramping up investment in Argentina to secure natural resources to feed its growing economy and snare sales opportunities for its emergent manufacturing industry.

With limited land and resources at home, China is turning to the world for raw materials to feed the factories and its growing populace, reports Market News International.

Argentina was China's second biggest destination for investment in Latin America last year, with $5.6 billion flowing in compared with $9.6 billion to Brazil, according to the United Nation's Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC).

The spending pace has continued this year.

• $3.5 billion going to Argentina 
• $8.6 billion in Peru
• $9.9 billion in Brazil

About 90% of the total was in natural resources, according to ECLAC.  



Chinese Communist Party owned companies
are buying up farmland and mineral rights
in Argentina's Rio Negro Province.


"China wants to produce raw materials in Latin America and process them in China," Sotuyo said. "It is buying land in Latin America."

Argentine President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner in April submitted a bill to Congress designed to limit foreign ownership of rural land to 1,000 hectares (2,471 acres).

The bill, not yet approved, proposes limiting total foreign ownership to 20% of productive land. Foreigners now own an estimated 11% of productive land, according to the Argentine Agriculture Federation, a leading farm group.

There are concerns that the foreign purchases were for drinking water rights, as the region is known for large deposits of water. Famous athletes, actors and businessmen like Joe Lewis and Ted Turner have bought land, capturing media attention including for allegedly limiting access to rivers and lakes on their land.

China is seeking other avenues, such as by teaming up with local companies, said Gabriel Perez, who owns Mercampo, an agriculture consulting firm in Rosario.

Sending Argentine food to China

"In Africa, the strategy is to buy land. But in Argentina, they are forming associations that allow them to grow crops and guarantee food supplies for their population," he said.

Heilongjiang, a northeastern province of China, last year signed contracts for it to invest in developing fields in Argentina's southern Rio Negro province, in exchange for rights to buy the harvests. It will work with farmers there on the project.

Heilongjiang, source of 11% of the food produced in China, will work on the project through Beidahuang Group, a state company.

It plans to invest $1.5 billion to expand the San Antonio Este port and put in irrigation systems over an area of 300,000 hectares in the Rio Negro and Rio Colorado valleys, which unlike in the country's farm belt in Buenos Aires province, Cordoba and Santa Fe require irrigation for crops like corn and soybeans, and less so for fruits and vegetables.

Communist Party owned China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation (Sinopec) and China National Offshore Oil Company (CNOOC) are buying up Argentine oil and gas reserves.



China buys oil, gas, iron ore and banking services in Argentina  

Communist Party owned China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation (Sinopec) this year bought the Argentine assets of Los Angeles-based Occidental Petroleum for about $2.5 billion.

The purchase made Sinopec the fifth-biggest oil producer in Argentina and followed a deal to buy a 40% stake in Repsol's Brazilian upstream unit for $7.1 billion.

It also followed a move by state owned China National Offshore Oil Company (CNOOC) and Argentina's Bridas Energy Holdings to seek the purchase of 60% of Pan American Energy from BP for $7.1 billion. Pan American is the second biggest oil producer and third for natural gas in Argentina.

China is looking abroad for oil and gas reserves to offset declining output at home. South America and Africa are showing promise for oil and gas production growth, with Argentina estimated to hold the third largest resources of shale gas in the world after China and the United States.

Mining and fertilizer are other focuses. Beijing-based China Metallurgical Group Corporation, a state-owned mining company, has invested about $100 million in an iron mine in Rio Negro, pulling the mine out of a 14-year slump to restart shipments.

In August, China's biggest commercial bank, the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, agreed to buy an 80% stake in Standard Bank Argentina for $600 million from the South African parent company.

"China's steps into Argentina are slow but firm," Mercampo's Perez said. "We will see more investment."

Chinese Communist Party owned Industrial and Commercial Bank of China now owns Standard Bank Argentina.  Using the new bank as a front China is now providing banking "services" in Argentina as one more way to gain influence and control in the nation.

Navy buys $17 million in drones

Are we overspending on the military?

They say to work smarter, not harder.

With drone and missile technology the military is doing that.  Nothing is safe:  terrorists sitting around a campfire, tanks or aircraft carriers.

In 100 years of naval aviation, only the most experienced combat pilots have performed the difficult task of launching an attack on a nearby target and returning the aircraft to a ship as it bobs in the ocean.  Now that tricky task is being turned over to unmanned drones.

With a $17-million contract, the U.S. Navy has taken the first step in arming its fleet of drone helicopters with laser-guided missiles to blast enemy targets.  The Northrop Grumman Corp.-made MQ-8B Fire Scout would be Navy's first sea-based unmanned system to carry weapons when it's delivered within 15 months.

"It's a very significant moment in naval history," said Mark L. Evans, a historian at the Naval History and Heritage Command. "The weaponization of this aircraft represents a quantum leap in technology compared to what has come before," reports Defense Update.

“By arming Fire Scout, the Navy will have a system that can locate and prosecute targets of interest,” said George Vardoulakis, Northrop Grumman’s vice president for tactical unmanned systems. “This capability shortens the kill chain and lessens the need to put our soldiers in harm’s way.”

Once delivered, Fire Scout will be Navy’s first sea-based unmanned system to carry weapons. According to Northrop Grumman, its ability to operate at low ground speeds makes it particularly well suited for supporting littoral missions such as drug interdiction, antipiracy actions, search and rescue, reconnaissance and port security.

The Navy has an order for 168 Fire Scouts.


In 2000 the USS Cole had a small craft approached the port side of the destroyer. An explosion occurred, putting a 40-by-40-foot gash in the ship's port side.  If a single attack could do this damage what happens when there are multiple attacks by drones or missiles



Ultra expensive military equipment from ships to vehicles can be destroyed in seconds by simple weapons like IEDs.



Aircraft carriers are a creation of World War II era technology.  How long will they last in a world of modern missiles and drones.  Billions in ultra expensive equipment could be at the bottom of the sea in moments.

It is a myth that business loves free enterprise and small government.  Far from it.  An alliance I call the Government-Business Complex is working at all levels to fully loot the wealth of the nation.  Labor unions, Democrats, businessmen, Republicans and government workers join together in a nest of corrupt to drain away every possible tax dollar and re-distribute the wealth to their respective groups.

The California High-Speed Rail Authority just issued a new report conceding what critics have been saying for years -- that the ambitious plan to build a bullet train linking San Francisco and Los Angeles would, "take longer and cost more than previously estimated."

- - - In 2008, when California voters approved the project in a ballot measure, the system was projected to cost $33 billion to build.

- - - Now in 2011 (only 3 years later) the so-called "revised" projection is that the system would cost a whopping $98 billion, accounting for inflation over the life of the project. The date of completion was pushed back 13 years, to 2033.

But all the numbers above are lies to try an fool the Sheeple taxpayers to keep forking over their money to the Government-Business Complex.

Making matters worse, the new business plan predicts that only 20 percent of the funding will come from private sources. That means that even optimistically, planners will have to come up with $80 billion during times when federal, state and local governments are already strapped for cash.

If California were to cancel the train, they'd have to forgo $3.5 billion in Obama stimulus money that's already been directed to it.

Back in April some 1,000 companies from around the globe, drawn by a bonanza of public funding allotted for California's bullet train, descended on the Los Angeles Convention Center angling for a piece of one of the biggest public works projects in American history.

California High-Speed Rail Authority officials was seeking something as well:  to mobilize a broad coalition of large and small businesses to lobby for more government funding.

Both political parties have their snouts fully thrust into the trough of the state treasury and Federal tax dollars.  The head of the High Speed Rail is Curt Pringle, the last Republican Speaker of the State Assembly.

"Now we need to hear from you," board Chairman Curt Pringle told the crowd that filled much of an exhibition hall the size of a football field.  Washington decision-makers need to hear what the project could mean to you, he told the audience.
But today the well of tax money is running dry.

"The project is dead, period, because they have no money," Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., said. "But the problem is everyone's hand is now in the cookie jar ... and they're buying off every lobbyist and consultant that they can in California, so the corruption has reached a whole new level."

He added, "I don't think you could dream up a bigger boondoggle than this, even if you tried."

We are living off our ancestors

The American economy is slowly grinding to a halt.  Nothing meaningful can be built.  Almost every project is opposed by endless legal battles by teams of lawyers and environmentalists and years in courts.

Americans are living off the great public works created by our ancestors.

The Golden Gate Bridge rapidly built between 1933 and 1937.
Financed and built by California in a record four years. The bridge ranks as one of the great wonders of the world stimulating the economy and creating endless jobs and wealth. Today it would never be built.  Today there would be endless delays, environmental impact reports, labor unions, lawyers, cost overruns, court battles, looting of tax dollars and Government Drones blocking every move.

Providing clean water and clean, non-polluting hydroelectric power to California to grow crops, build jobs and wealth. The modern hypocrite Luddite Socialists are happy to drink the water provided by the dam, eat the food grown with water from the dam, and use the clean electric power provided by the dam, but they will oppose any new construction. Such a project could never be built today in the People's Republic of California.

Unionized public employee pensions go insane in Europe



Unionized Government Workers get Gold Plated Pensions and the
costs are totally out of control.


Taxpayer Rape  -  Where is it written that the purpose of government is to allow union workers to retire at age 60 and sit on their ass for the next 30 or 40 years?


Private sector staff would have to contribute a third of their salary to get the same level of gold-plated pension as unionized state workers – and that is after controversial reforms, analysis revealed.

Public sector staff will get a pension worth two thirds of their average salary, despite the fact most will contribute less than 10 per cent of their pay towards it, reports the UK Daily Mail.

A Treasury analysis has found that a private sector worker would have to build up a six-figure pension pot, eating up a third of their salary every month, to get the same benefit as their public sector counterpart.

Missing out: Millions of private sector workers who earn more than those in the public sector are receiving smaller pensions, with some having to contribute a third of their salary to match the pots of their counterparts

A lowly NHS hospital porter on little over £14,000 will receive more money in retirement than millions of private sector workers on much higher salaries.

The figures in the chart blow a massive hole in the unions’ argument that proposed reforms – which will see state workers paying more of their salary into their pension funds – represented a bad deal for their members.

Ministers want public sector workers to work beyond the age of 60, in line with those in the private sector. And they say contributions should rise by 3.2 percentage points – meaning teachers will pay 9.2 per cent and nurses 8.2 per cent.

But Treasury calculations, unveiled yesterday, show that someone seeking a similar pension from a private plan would have to contribute a much greater percentage of their  salary – about a third. The Treasury source said it was only high-paid public-sector staff who would see the level of their pensions fall.

Public sector pensions will continue to be more generous than private sector ones because employers such as councils and NHS trusts – funded by taxpayers – will still contribute a large percentage.

Michele Bachmann unloaded a series of attacks on unnamed opponents lumping fellow Republicans together with socialists.  Bachmann’s remarks before social conservatives at the Family Research Council.

"Too many Republicans, they also aspire to be 'frugal socialists,' " Bachmann said, vowing to eradicate socialism throughout the U.S. government if elected President.


The fact of the matter is 95% of all Republican members
of Congress are RINOs.  Spending is never really cut,
programs are always protected and the Marxist
re-distribution goes on and on.


"Some Republican candidates seem confused by what it means to be 100 percent pro-life," she said, adding that checking the boxes on opposition to abortion is not sufficient and beckoning voters to take a closer look at her opponents' records. “You won’t find YouTube clips of me advocating anything else.”

"If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat," she said.

New Deal Republicans

Bachmann is saying what I have said for years.  So-called "Conservative" Republicans simply do not exist in modern American politics.  In fact, true small government Republicans have not existed since about 1900.

Based on the policies and programs they support, the GOP politicians of today would be considered radical FDR New Deal Democrats back in 1933.

That is why you never see Republicans in Congress abolish Federal programs, and rarely if ever see cuts in spending of any kind.  The bloated Federal civil service is safe under both Republicans or Democrats.  Both parties are happy to re-distribute the wealth and buy themselves the votes they need every two years.

The United States has moved so far to the left that a radical New Dealer is considered Conservative in 2011.

Proving the point - Speaker Boehner trashes Grover Norquist


House Speaker John Boehner (Right-Wing Socialist Party - Ohio) brushed off anti-tax advocate Grover Norquist last Thursday as just “some random person.”

The conservative activist is the author of a famous pledge against raising taxes that 238 House members have signed — including nearly every Republican reports The Hill.

At a press conference on Thursday, Boehner, who has signed the pledge himself, tried, unsuccessfully, to dodge the question of whether Norquist is a positive influence on the House GOP conference.

After a nearly five-second pause, Boehner replied: “Listen, our focus here is on jobs. We’re doing everything we can to get our economy moving again and get people back to work. So it’s not often I’m asked about some random person in America and what I think.”

This interview says what I have suspected.  The Euro "crisis" is to one degree or another manufactured by corrupt international banking interests looking to get the world to cover their bad loans.

Economist Hans-Werner Sinn is the president of the Institute for Economic Research (ifo), a leading German think tank in Munich. He spoke to SPIEGEL about the euro crisis, the growing uselessness of a bailout and a possible way back to the drachma for Greece.

SPIEGEL: Mr. Sinn, the Greeks have decided not to hold their referendum. They want to keep the euro and allow themselves to be rescued by Europe. Can we all breathe a sigh of relief?

Sinn: What politicians refer to as a "rescue" will not actually save Greece. The Greeks won't ever return to health under the euro. The country just isn't competitive. Wages and prices are far too high, and the bailout plan will only freeze this situation in place. So it's in Greece's interest to leave the euro and reintroduce the drachma.


SPIEGEL: How would that work?

Sinn: It must happen quickly. Greek banks will have to close for one week. All accounts, all balances and all government debt would have to be converted into drachmas. Then the drachma would depreciate.

SPIEGEL: In that case, Greek citizens would try to empty all their bank accounts as quickly as possible. There would be chaos.

Sinn: One would have to manage. Granted, there will be a localized storm; but, afterward, the sun will shine. Wealthy Greeks transferred their assets to safe havens abroad long ago. The money will come back to Greece only once Greece has re-established its competitiveness.

SPIEGEL: What about European governments? What sort of losses would they face?

Sinn: Economically, they would actually see some benefits. Creditor nations would have to contribute less (to a rescue) because Greece would be helping itself. It would be considerably less expensive for them -- and also for the other euro-zone countries that have lived beyond their means -- to face up to the seriousness of the situation and finally try to save themselves.

SPIEGEL: Do you seriously think the Greeks will manage to repay their debts, which are denominated in euros, with a weakened national currency?

Sinn: They will only be able to generate foreign trade surpluses if they abandon the euro. And only then will they be able to pay anything back. Otherwise, they will forever remain dependent on others.

Never did I think I would see this in my lifetime.  The Bill of Rights is being abolished in full view of the public and the act is almost totally ignored by the lap-dog Media Machine that supports the Beltway Elite and their un-Constitutional policies.

Instead of wall to wall coverage of the loss of our freedoms, the Media Machine feeds the Sheeple public a steady diet of endless stories about sex scandals, the "evils" of our racist society, Kim Kardashian's divorce and Marxist Fairy Tales of class warfare.

We live in the middle of the 1984 propaganda machine. Those of us who can still think rationally feel we are alone in a nation populated by fucking morons. 

Former Navy Seal and Governor Jesse Ventura (Independence Party of Minnesota) said he would now refer to the country of his birth as the “Fascist States of America” after a judge dismissed his case challenging airport pat downs, adding that his only recourse now would be to run for President.

The suit was thrown out because Congress set up the law so that all such challenges must be brought directly to a three judge Circuit Court of Appeals so no citizen of the United States could have a trial by jury by a lower Federal Court.

“They said they don’t have jurisdiction,” Governor Ventura told reporters. “Well my question is if the federal courts don’t have jurisdiction over a constitutional question then who the hell does?”

Governor Ventura spoke of his fury about how an American citizen was not even allowed to go to court to defend the Bill of Rights, adding that from now on he would refer to the U.S. as the “Fascist States of America” and would refuse to stand for the national anthem.

“I want a trial by jury. They tell me I can't have a jury decide my fate!” Ventura said, referring to the judge who dismissed the case as a “coward”. “If given a jury, I will win,” he added.

Ventura put out a ‘come and get me’ plea to the Libertarian Party, indicating that he will run for President if they approach him. Ventura has also said he would seriously consider being Ron Paul’s Vice-President pick if the Congressman was successful in the Republican nomination or if Paul ran as the Libertarian Party candidate.

Cuba legalizes private real estate sales



A free market in private property is coming to Communist Cuba.



Communist Cuba and China are adopting capitalism and wealth while the United States under Comrade Obama plunges into Socialism and poverty.



Cuba announced it would allow its residents to buy and sell real estate for the first time since the revolution, in yet another bold free-market reform that effectively legalizes a practice Cubans have been secretly engaging in for years.

Cuba announced Thursday it will allow real estate to be bought and sold for the first time since the early days of the revolution, the most important reform yet in a series of free-market changes under President Raul Castro.

The law, which takes effect Nov. 10, applies to citizens living in Cuba and permanent residents only, according to a red-letter headline on the front page of the Communist Party daily Granma and details published in the government’s Official Gazette, reports France 24.

The law limits Cubans to owning one home in the city and another in the country, an effort to prevent the accumulation of large real estate holdings. It requires that all real estate transactions be made through Cuban bank accounts so that they can be better regulated, and says the transactions will be subject to bank commissions.

Sales will also be subject to an 8 percent tax on the assessed value of the property, paid equally by buyer and seller. In the case where Cubans exchange homes of equal value in a barter agreement, each side will pay 4 percent of the value of their home.

“This is a very big step forward. With this action the state is granting property rights that didn’t exist before,” said Philip J. Peters, a Cuba analyst at the Lexington Institute in Arlington, Virginia. “If you think about it from the point of view of a Cuban family, it converts their house from a place to live into a source of wealth or a source of collateral. It’s an asset that can now be made liquid.”

Cuban exiles will not be allowed to purchase property on the island since they are not residents. Still, they will be able to send money to help relatives buy new homes, and there was speculation some might try to buy homes themselves through frontmen, something the government would likely try to prevent.

Castro has also allowed citizens to go into business for themselves in a number of approved jobs - everything from party clowns to food vendors to accountants - and has pledged to streamline the state-dominated economy by eliminating half a million government workers.

Cuba’s government employs more than 80 percent of the workers in the island’s command economy, paying wages of just $20 a month in return for free education and health care, and nearly free housing, transportation and basic foods. Castro has said repeatedly that the system is not working since taking over from his brother Fidel in 2008, but he has vowed that Cuba will remain a socialist state.
