Tesla CEO Elon Musk has announced he will stop taking Bitcoin for vehicle purchases or selling the cryptocurrency until mining procedures transition to “more sustainable energy” than coal or fossil fuels.

“We are concerned about rapidly increasing use of fossil fuels for Bitcoin mining and transactions, especially coal, which has the worst emissions of any fuel,” Musk tweeted on Wednesday evening.

(Daily Mail)  -  Speakeasies are secretly opening up in New York in defiance of coronavirus lockdown rules, reviving the Prohibition-era's illicit bars. 

In New York City at least four speakeasies are known to have illegally served patrons even though bars have been ordered closed under Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s stay-at-home orders.

Sources say a famous Upper East Side bar and a lounge has opened up secretly serving patrons. A trendy downtown hotel has also started to pour drinks again, but just for friends of the owners and managers, according to Page Six.

'I know at least five people who were at [the hotel bar] on Monday night,' a source said.

'I called one of them and said, "I heard you were at [said hotel bar] last night", and she sounded shocked. She said, "How did you know!"'

That source said the hotel bar had been opened for several secret events.

Last week Lower East Side bar Omar’s La Boîte was exposed for hosting a small invite-only party on May 1.

More than a dozen people reportedly attended, many of whom were not wearing facemasks and ignoring social distancing rules.

City Proposes Banning Guns, Booze

In response to the coronavirus hysteria, the city council of Bellingham, Washington, is proposing banning the possession, transfer, and carrying of firearms, as well as banning alcohol sales and closing the city streets to the public. 

This is on the agenda for their next meeting on Tuesday, March 23rd.

The emergency ordinance includes the following:

4.An order requiring the discontinuance of the sale, distribution, or giving away of alcoholic beverages in any or all parts of the city;

5.An order requiring the discontinuance of the sale, distribution, or giving away of firearms and/or ammunition for firearms in any or all parts of the city;

6.An order requiring the discontinuance of the sale, distribution, or giving away of gasoline or other liquid flammable or combustible products in any container other than a gasoline tank properly affixed to a motor vehicle;

7.An order requiring the closure of any or all business establishments where firearms and/or ammunition for firearms are sold or otherwise dispensed; provided, that with respect to those business establishments which are not primarily devoted to the sale of firearms and/or ammunition and in which such firearms and/or ammunition may be removed or made secure from possible seizure by the public, the portions thereof utilized for sale of items other than firearms and ammunition may, in the discretion of the mayor, be allowed to remain open;

8.An order closing to the public any or all public places, including streets, alleys, public ways, schools, parks, beaches, amusement areas, and public buildings;

9.An order prohibiting the carrying or possession of firearms or any instrument which is capable of producing bodily harm and which is carried or possessed with the intent to use the same to cause such harm; provided, that any such order shall not apply to peace officers or military personnel engaged in the performance of their official duties;

10.An order prohibiting the carrying, possession, and/or sale of explosives;

They are trying to say it would be unlawful for a resident to hand a firearm or a bullet to their significant other or family members. There are several obvious problems with this “ordinance.” Besides the obvious, Washington has a preemption law that forbids municipalities from regulating firearms. Plus, it’s already unlawful to carry a firearm with the “intent” to use it to cause harm. Does this ban include baseball bats and tree branches?

If someone is walking down the sidewalk on their way to the store to get food, or driving to the doctor, or riding a bike to check on their elderly grandmother, the person would apparently be in violation of this code. If someone needs gas for their chainsaw so they can cut wood to stay warm, the gas station would not legally be allowed to serve them.

If the city passes this, there will surely be lawsuits rising from it quickly.

His community herds about 8,000 reindeer year-round, moving them between traditional grazing grounds in the high mountains bordering Norway in the summer and the forests farther east in the winter, just as his forebears in the Sami indigenous community have for generations.

Inga is troubled: His reindeer are hungry, and he can do little about it. Climate change is altering weather patterns and affecting the herd’s food supply.

Slipping his hand from a massive reindeer skin mitten, Inga illustrates the problem, plunging his hand into the crusted snow and pulling out a hard piece of ice close to the soil.

Unusually early snowfall in autumn was followed by rain that froze, trapping food under a thick layer of ice. Unable to eat, the hungry animals scattered from their traditional migration routes in search of new grazing grounds.

Half the herd carried on east as planned, while the rest retreated to the mountains where predators abound, and the risk of avalanches is great.

The arctic is warming twice as fast as the rest of the globe. Measurements by the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute show the country has warmed 2.95 degrees Fahrenheit compared with preindustrial times.

This last weekend was just what the doctor ordered: endless food, booze and no cell phone.

Screw the world. No doubt its horrors would still be there Monday morning.  Sadly they were.

I went "Clamping" as we call it. I am a 28 year member of The Ancient and Honorable Order of E Clampus Vitus.

Some say we are a historical drinking society. Others claim we are a drinking historical society. Both sides are correct.

About a hundred of us camped for the weekend at a central California lake to eat and drink until no room was left, and until all the old lies we have been telling each other for years were fully re-told.

Simply, getting drunk solves all the world's problems . . . at least for a while.

As much as I love politics I am sick to death of this shit. The endless lies, back-stabbings, corruption, wars and the near total ignorance of a Sheeple public more interested in their toy cell phones than in the future of America.

I am been Blogging with The Federalist since May, 2011.  Maybe the time has come to hang up the Blog or just cut way, way back.

Maybe I need to spend more time enjoying life and less time trying to change the unchangeable.

(Breitbart News)  -  As a result of too many high profile drunken driver arrests involving California legislators, state senate officials have hired designated driving employees to drive home inebriated lawmakers.

Democrat Senate President Pro Tem Kevin de León refused to discuss details of the program.  “We’re not going to provide comment, because it’s a security issue,” his spokesman, Anthony Reyes, said.

The Sacramento Bee reported that four lawmakers in the past five years have been accused of driving while under the influence of alcohol.

Known as “special services assistants,” the designated drivers work in the Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Office and are responsible for providing “ground transportation for Senate members.”

The Bee reported that the two employees—a retired Assembly sergeant-at-arms and a retiree from the Department of General Services—are paid $2,532 per month, of course at taxpayer expense.

A man who turned down the position said that the job description mandated that he work from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. or 7 a.m. to drive senators home “just if they were drinking too much…  and to pick them up and take them home.”

One legislative chief of staff told the Bee that the service is intended to prevent drunken driving by legislators.

State senators are given a small plastic card showing the “Sacramento 24 hr transportation” phone number. The card offers a stylish picture displaying a “California State Senate” banner across the top and a photo of the Capitol dome in the background. “In case of an emergency”—read extra loaded and designated drivers are already occupied with their esteemed colleagues—senators can call Senate’s Chief Sergeant-at-Arms Debbie Manning, who’s direct number appears on the card.

The Sacramento Bee reported the following list of lawmakers that did not call for driving assistance after drinking excessively, but wish that they had:

State Sen. Ben Hueso, D-San Diego, arrested last August near the Capitol on suspicion of driving under the influence. Stopped by police around 2:30 a.m. for driving the wrong way down a one-way street, he blew a blood alcohol level of 0.08 percent. He ultimately pleaded guilty to a “wet reckless” charge.

Assemblyman Roger Hernández, D-West Covina, was found not guilty of driving under the influence after a 2012 trial in Contra Costa County ended in a hung jury.

Then-Assemblyman Martin Garrick, R-Solana Beach, pleaded no contest to drunken driving charges in 2011 after he was spotted driving erratically in his state-issued vehicle in Sacramento.

Then-Sen. Roy Ashburn, R-Bakersfield, pleaded no contest to drunken driving charges in 2010 and was sentenced to two days in jail and three years’ probation.
