A friend of mine recently purchased 2 & 1/2 acres in the mountains of Central California. It has a well, septic installed, and power to the property, including 4 electric meter boxes.
He rolled his 5th wheel on to the land and has rented out 2 of the spaces for about $1,900 a month.
No house payments for the rest of his life and land that produces rental income.
He is raising chickens, will soon acquire more animals and perhaps do a catfish pond.
Yet deeply in debt city folk friends of his "look down on him" for daring to live a rural life that is worry and debt free.
People aren’t just giving up on their jobs or their homes – they’re giving up on a system that was never built for their survival. Wages stay frozen while everything else doubles overnight. Debt is normal. Desperation is normal. And now, giving up feels like the only option left for so many.
I cannot believe the state of our country. I cannot believe people are reduced to living in their cars, on the streets, the homeless. NOTHING is normal anymore.
There is something fundamentally wrong, VERY wrong, with our country. I am so ashamed of what our country has become.

(FOX) - Officials in Malibu, California, are considering relocating dozens of homeless residents who are staying in RVs along Malibu’s coastline. Officials say more people are moving to public beaches, using public parking spots and staying for days and weeks at a time. This movement has caused many problems, beyond just denying other residents beach access and parking spots. “Motorhomes have 30- to 40-, 50-gallon capacities in the septic systems,” Malibu councilmember Jefferson Wagner told FOX Business on Wednesday. “They're dumping [sewage] right onto the rocks or onto the beach, into the public right of way.” Wagner said this is “a health violation, and it's a humanitarian violation.” Wagner calls this an abuse of public lands. Officials are trying to combat this by prohibiting overnight parking, changing signage to instruct people to move vehicles every couple of hours and offering vouchers for inland housing.
(Fox) - The head of San Francisco Public Works, which is in charge of cleaning up the city’s feces-filled streets, has been arrested by the FBI on suspicion of public corruption.
San Francisco Public Works Director Mohammed Nuru was arrested Monday alongside Nick Bovis, the owner of a popular sports bar in Fisherman’s Wharf, Lefty O-Doul’s. Sources told NBC Bay Area that Nuru was arrested on suspicion of accepting bribes for airport concession contracts.
Both Nuru and Bovis were released on bond following their arrest.
As the top official in charge of the $312 million city public works budget since 2012, Nuru was tasked with cleaning up San Francisco streets, which critics note remain cluttered with feces, trash and used needles amid a homelessness crisis.
Nuru, who goes by “MrCleanSF" on Twitter, also oversees the design and construction of city facilities and the management of 1,600 employees. Its capital project portfolio is more than $5.6 billion.
Bovis, alongside Nuru in 2017, championed a portable toilet venture called “Tiny Potties” aimed at mitigating the city’s public defecation problem associated with its growing homeless population. The portable restrooms were meant to look like the Painted Ladies Victorian homes near Alamo Square, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

(Newswars) - A popular Sacramento river is contaminated with dangerous levels of E. coli bacteria due to human feces being introduced by vagrants, according to reports.
Testing conducted this summer by the Sacramento Bee revealed that the water is being tainted by hundreds of homeless living in camps that “line the banks” of the American River, which is having a negative effect on swimming, angling, and other recreational activities.
“Water samples reviewed by The Bee showed dangerous E. coli spikes this summer when swimmers were present at Tiscornia Beach, a popular summertime gathering spot where the American and Sacramento rivers converge north of downtown. There, a swirling effect from the currents causes any bacteria washing from upstream to linger,” the Bee reports.
“Thirteen out of 15 weekly water samples taken at the beach since June exceeded state and federal standards, records show. Those estimates determine when at least three out of every 100 swimmers would be expected to suffer ailments such as diarrhea from coming in contact with feces-fouled water.”
The Bee found that E. coli levels were as much as six times higher than the safety threshold during peak swimming season.
There are few public restrooms near the river, and officials reportedly refuse to add any more as they will likely be trashed or destroyed by vagrants, or used for drug abuse or prostitution.
“You don’t need a Ph.D. to say, ‘There’s somebody pooping in the river. Let’s put a bathroom out,’” Stanford University professor and water quality specialist Alexandria Boehm told the Bee, adding that she would not swim in the tainted river or allow a child into the water.
Sacramento County reportedly spent $50 million on ‘homeless services’ in 2018.
Globalist politicians catering to migrants while Americans suffer
(Newswars) - Thousands of homeless and destitute Maine residents are being brushed aside as officials scramble to instead accommodate ‘asylum seekers’ who have recently arrived in the state from points around the globe.
Dozens of homeless Mainers, including veterans and families with children, expressed their frustrations to local CBS affiliate WGME, however most reportedly refused to go on record for fear of facing retribution or penalties as they await government aid.
“The I-Team found more than 18,000 Mainers are on a waiting list for Section 8 and that’s just one program to help low-income families get affordable housing,” WGME reports.
“Many of those people are homeless and hungry and have already been waiting years for their number to be called.”
Meanwhile, some 200 ‘asylum seekers’ who have been living in an emergency shelter at the Portland Expo center are now being moved quickly into temporary housing, while another 150 who arrived in June have already been relocated to units around the state.
“Of course when the asylum seekers come up here they offered them free housing.How do they have a place for them but not for us?” said Zanetta Smith, who spent five years in her car and now lives in a friend’s storage shed in the woods without toilet, shower, or running water.
“It was pretty tough in the wintertime,” said Smith, who reportedly lost her apartment after a serious illness that prevented her from being able to work. “You fall into bad times, and sometimes it’s hard to get out of it.”
Dan Brennan, director of the Maine State Housing Authority, claims the issues pertaining to Maine homeless and ‘asylum seekers’ are completely separate.
“There simply is not enough supply of units available for people who need them,” Brennan told WGME. “The asylum seekers are a very unique situation in which it’s a temporary situation for them, it’s not permanent housing. They’re not getting a housing opportunity that someone on the waiting list would be afforded.”
“We fully feel this short period of assistance will help the folks as they become self-sufficient and begin to settle here in Maine.”
Governor Janet Mills has reportedly assigned $172,303 from the Governor’s Contingency Account to cover a year of rent expenses for ‘asylum seekers.’
In June, when hundreds of Congolese migrants were unloaded in Texas after arriving at the southern border, San Antonio Assistant City Manager Colleen Bridger revealed that many of the new arrivals had been slated for relocation to Maine, but Portland officials reportedly begged out of the arrangement.
“The plan was 350 of them would travel from San Antonio to Portland,” Bridger told a local CBS station. “When we reached out to Portland, Maine, they said, ‘Please don’t send us anymore. We’re already stretched way beyond our capacity.'”

While the illegal immigrant population of Los Angeles is poised to scoop up $260 million a year from the government in health benefits, members of the city’s homeless population are dying in record numbers.
Deaths in the homeless population jumped 76 percent in the past five years, according to a new analysis of coroner’s data by Kaiser Health News. The surge in deaths is outpacing the growth of the homeless population — more than 900 died last year.
The data backs up Cher’s recent tweet (which she got considerable flak for) contrasting the plight of LA’s homeless population with the position of hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants living in the city who enjoy legal sanctuary, benefits such as in-state tuition and access to driver’s licenses, and state-funded healthcare for their children.
(Newswars) - A wealthy liberal neighborhood in San Francisco whose residents cast the most votes for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election is fighting against a proposal to build a new homeless shelter near their gated mansions.
Mayor London Breed has sponsored legislation to fast track a homeless shelter that would house 200 people. However, wealthy liberals living in the affected area have set up a GoFundMe to stop the project which has already hit $80,000 of its $100,000 target.
The GoFundMe page cites concerns over “public safety, drug use, and other problems that a large shelter may bring to the community,” as well as the fact that “a third of the homeless are drug users and some are sex offenders”.
Records show that Mission Bay, one of the areas most heavily targeted by organizers of the GoFundMe, was the most pro-Hillary neighborhood in the entire city of San Francisco, laying down 1,680 Clinton/Kaine votes out of 1,893 ballots cast.
The resident who started the GoFundMe is from South Beach, another area that heavily voted for Hillary Clinton.
Wealthy residents even turned out to protest against the homeless shelter last month, citing worries about “crime and sanitation”.
The homeless shelter would be located a stone’s throw from Google’s San Francisco offices and Gap’s headquarters.
The story once again illustrates how while liberals will virtue signal all day about their concern for the poor and needy, when it comes down to actually doing something about it, they either go AWOL or advocate for the exact opposite.

Gavin Newsom praised San Diego County for providing a shelter for asylum seekers and said Thursday he wants the state to set up an emergency fund of $25 million to address what he has called an humanitarian crisis created by the federal government. Speaking during a visit to San Diego on Thursday, Newsom told reporters that $5 million should be made available this year - mostly to help San Diego's shelter. He said his proposal is worded "loosely" to allow for flexibility in the spending but he believes the money is needed for a problem that will not be going away in the near future.
San Francisco Mayor London Breed, a Democrat who just got sworn in as San Francisco’s mayor on Wednesday, said in an interview Friday that the city’s streets are flooded with homeless excrement. “There is more feces on the sidewalks than I’ve ever seen growing up here,” Breed told KNTV. “That is a huge problem, and we are not just talking about from dogs — we’re talking about from humans.” Breed added that homeless advocacy groups which receive city government funds should teach the homeless “to clean up after themselves.” NBC Bay Area journalists released a report in February that surveyed 153 blocks in downtown San Francisco, finding more than 300 piles of fecal matter and 100 drug needles on the streets in that area. The shocking report brought so much attention to the filth on the city streets that one person created a website displaying an interactive poop map to shed light on homelessness in San Francisco.
(Orange County Register) - The makeshift bunker beneath a recently-displaced Fountain Valley homeless encampment was big enough for a grown person to stand inside, replete with wood-paneled walls and a support beam, and accessible only via a small hatch camouflaged to blend in with its dirt surroundings.
The half-loaded .357 Magnum found near the same camp, along the Santa Ana River, contained three empty shell casings – meaning it had been fired.
And the 1,000 bicycles discovered hidden away in the flood-control channel’s dark tunnel system in Santa Ana, two miles north of the encampment, could suggest a large-scale theft ring.
Orange County sheriff’s deputies and public employees said they uncovered unusual and dangerous conditions in the recently cleared homeless camps on the riverbed in Fountain Valley and in portions of the river to the north. The findings, they said, posed public safety risks and indicated that the area was rife with crime.
“It just backs up the data that we’ve collected, which says there is a significant criminal element in the homeless encampments,” sheriff’s Lt. Jeff Puckett said.
The sheriff’s department provided no evidence linking the gun or bicycles to any individuals living in the Fountain Valley encampment but said the investigation is ongoing.

County employees discovered the bunker Wednesday, Nov. 16, as part of a cleanup effort after the county forced about 200 people to move out of the area five days earlier.
The cavern’s hatch was concealed beneath a thin layer of dirt. But once workers opened the plywood trapdoor, they found a series of wooden steps that took them six feet underground, to a reinforced, 10-foot-by-10-foot room big enough for a 5-foot-7-inch person to stand upright.
Officials don’t know how the bunker was built or who used it.
“We’re not sure what (the room) was for – probably some type of living situation,” Puckett said. “It’s nothing I’ve ever seen before.”
The county moved to clear the encampment, located between Warner and Edinger avenues, following months of complaints from neighbors that homeless people were trespassing, harassing residents and stealing from nearby homes. Some of the discoveries, officials said, add credence to those neighbors’ complaints and fears.
But neighborhood residents offer a different story, saying they’ve noticed an increase in bike thefts and other crimes.
“I’m not surprised at any of these things they found, other than the bunker,” said Kris Gillan, who owns a condo near the riverbed. “This is why we tried and tried to get (sheriff’s deputies and Fountain Valley) out there, but nothing was done for a long, long time.”
She said a neighbor’s bike was stolen recently off a patio, and that she regularly saw people lurking in the complex and looking inside parked cars. As the encampment grew, she said, so did crime.
“I feel safer now that they’re gone,” Gillan said.
“But how did it get this bad? I hope the county has learned their lesson.”
