Chilling Adventures of Sabrina - Netflix

A Stunning Netflix Original
Nexflix hits a home run with bases loaded

By Gary;

From being a little kid I have always been attracted to shows featuring sci fi, fantasy or magic.

My first memory of magical shows was reruns of ghost TV show Topper which was first broadcast back in 1953. From there I graduated to Bewitched, The Ghost and Mrs. Muir and I Dream of Jeannie.

Skip ahead a few decades and I became a rabid fan of Buffy the Vampire SlayerAngel and naturally Charmed.

It took me a little time to power through all ten episodes of this Netflix original. They have nailed the 1990s Sabrina the Teenage Witch series. But then Netflix went on and made the story very dark and very evil.

Sabrina went from a 1990s comedy to a straight out Satanic horror drama.

Sabrina is an empowered young woman who is half-human and half-witch. She begins her dark education as a sorceress, even as she tries to maintain a normal life as a sophomore at Baxter High. Intelligent, compassionate and brave to the point of recklessness, Sabrina is all that stands between humankind and the forces of darkness that threaten it.

The appeal of Sabrina increases as the show goes along because of Kiernan Shipka as the title character. At only 19 years old she is an exceptional actress who holds her own and more doing high emotion and drama horror.

The cinematography has high production values that are apparent in every frame, and the result is gorgeous. When the show dives deep into dark gothic horror it is at its best.

Older Netflix fans might be turned off thinking this is a kids show. Like Buffy the cast trends younger but the many adult plot lines and characters are well worth watching.
