Fascism has always been with us. Spaniards commemorate Franco’s death

Fascism - Least we Forget
Fascism has always been there, from Caesar
to Napoleon to Mussolini to Obama.

Fascism is Normal

The dirty little secret of the world is Fascism is the normal form of government for the human race.

The first recorded history began around the 4th millennium BC.  For nearly all of that time fascism, in one form or another, was the standard and accepted form of governments.

Benito Mussolini is credited with saying "Fascism should more properly be called corporatism, since it is the merger of state and corporate power."

While Mussolini may be misquoted the thrust of the statement is correct.  Business and politicians naturally jump into bed with each other in corrupt deals for mutual protection and profit.  Dwight Eisenhower was dead on using the example of the military-industrial complex.

That natural alliance was as true under the ancient Roman and Chinese Empires as it was under Franco or Hitler.

For example, the wealthy and well connected in the Roman world bought their way to powerful positions such as Senator. They also greased the palms of those in charge to government contracts, special favors, exemptions from taxes or protection from prosecution.

In other words, nothing has changed all these thousands of years.

We see that natural trend to fascism going on today as businesses spend hundreds of millions on "donations" to literally buy politicians in return for access to the public treasury, zoning deals or contracts.

The hack politicians of today (just like under the Egyptian Pharaohs or George III) eagerly respond to cold, hard cash.  The businesses get what they want, and the politicians and their "friends" magically get appointed to very well paid corporate boards.

The common people?  Well they are screwed as always.  What else is new?

A Republic Dies

For a fairly short time America had a Constitutional Republic where the common man could elect candidates of their choice to Congress from political parties ranging from the Federalists to Free Soil to Greenbacks to Populists.

Those days are long gone.  The last non Democrat or Republican was elected to the House in the ancient days of 1948.  Ever since then only the candidates of the two large parties, fully financed by mega-business interests, get elected to the "People's House."  The People's House.  What a joke.

We have come full cycle folks.  Say hello to our old friend Fascism.  He is back.
