Dictatorship  -  Obama confiscates private property

• Obama violates the Bill of Rights.
• If Comrade Obama can steal private property to enforce a Federal drug law then no property in America is safe when there are thousands of Federal laws on the books.

Hundreds of medical marijuana patients and advocates rallied in Oakland, California in advance of an evening fundraiser by Comrade Obama, calling on him to freeze federal crackdowns on legal cannabis dispensaries.

The rally came two weeks after a federal forfeiture action against the Oakland-based Harborside Health Center, the nation's largest medical marijuana dispensary and one that has won acclaim as a model for the industry reports the Los Angeles Times.

TRANSLATION  -  Federal "forfeiture".  The stealing of private property by force by the Federal Government even when people are simply obeying legal local and state laws.

In April, federal agents raided several Oakland businesses operated by prominent marijuana activist Richard Lee, forcing his legal, licensed and tax paying business dispensaries to close.

Melinda Haag, Obama's U.S. attorney for the Northern District of California has cracked down on these businesses that are totally legal under California law.

Helena Welch, a former Obama supporter, attended the rally with her husband Horace. The Oakland retirees, both 59, purchase cannabis from Harborside — he to alleviate post-surgical back pain and she for arthritis in her spine and knee.

"We're very responsible with our medicine," said Helena, who used marijuana as a youth but stopped at age 23, resuming only three years ago when her body began to fail her. "It's my business, but I have the right, and Obama said he wasn't going to bother anyone.... He's trying to duck and cover."

Bill of Rights  -  In violation of the 10th Amendment of the Bill of Rights, hundreds of California dispensaries have closed since federal prosecutors announced last fall that they would crack down on operations located less than 1,000 feet from schools or profiting in violation of state law.

Harborside pays more than $1.1 million a year in business taxes to Oakland, and dispensaries in California pay between $58 million and $105 million annually to the state.      (Los Angeles Times)


Obama targets newspapers who run ads not approved by the Government.

In a related story, in the all Democrat city of Los Angeles the city council is working to ban storefront sales of medical marijuana by a doctor's prescription.

Democrats live in fear that someone might dare to medicate themselves without the permission of Big Brother political hacks.

The Los Angeles County district attorney has successfully persecuted and pushed dozens of dispensaries out of the west San Fernando Valley portion of Los Angeles.  About 60 medical marijuana storefronts have shut down in recent years after their owners were selectively prosecuted for "criminal activity", including weapons charges.     (Los Angeles Times)

(Reuters) - The Los Angeles City Council decided unanimously (14 to 0) on Tuesday to ban all storefront medical marijuana shops, in a blow to a industry that operates in violation of federal law but has become the largest collection of pot dispensaries in California.    (Reuters.com)

China founded a new city on Tuesday more than 200 miles from the mainland, in a bid to cement control over 800,000 squares miles of the South China Sea.

Sansha is based on Yongxing Dao, or Woody Island, a petite heart-shaped island barely a mile long. It is shorter than its airport runway, which is left jutting out to sea reports the UK Telegraph.

China's 658th city, as classified by the country's State Council, has a floating population of a few hundred fishermen, a post office, library, bank, supermarket, and hospital and not much else. A casino is planned to drum up tourism.

But it will have a full 45 government officials to run the city, its own mayor, and a Communist party secretary, Fu Zhuang, who has spent his entire career in the People's Liberation Army, rising to become the deputy chief of the Air Defence Office of Hainan province.

From here, China expects to administer almost the entire South China Sea, including both the Paracel and Spratly island chains.

That will pit it directly against Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia, Taiwan and Brunei, all of which also claim sovereignty over parts of the region.

China only gained control of Woody Island in 1974 after a battle with Vietnam left 71 sailors dead and the founding of Sansha has already been vigorously condemned by the Philippines and Vietnam.

In the Spratly Islands, Vietnam has stationed 600 soldiers and built a town with its own hotel, school and temple. In the new American Police State two Seattle men spent more than two hours in a detention center at the Canadian border after U.S. border agents discovered chocolate eggs in their car.

Brandon Loo and Christopher Sweeney told KOMO News they decided to bring home some treats for friends and family during a recent trip to Vancouver, British Columbia. They bought Kinder Eggs — chocolate eggs with a toy inside.

The two men say border guards searched their car and said the eggs are illegal in the United States because young children could choke on the small plastic toys. Importing them can lead to a potentially hefty fine.

Never mind that kids can choke on anything including dirt.  The bi-partisan Police State is created by screaming to a brainless public, "Think of the children."

Both political parties eagerly write laws and fund this stupidity.

Sweeney says one border guard said they could be fined $2,500 per egg. The pair said they could have faced a $15,000 fine.

Mike Milne with U.S. Customs and Border Protection told a Canadian paper that officers do not usually fine travelers for carrying the chocolates. Roughly 60,000 Kinder eggs were seized last year.

"Kinder eggs are prohibited just like narcotics are prohibited," he was quoted as said. "Our officers, if they encounter prohibited stuff, they're subject to seizure."

Spain is just got the go-ahead to borrow €100 billion to bail out their banking system, but word is going around that a new round of massive bailouts is coming.

Germany's finance minister, Wolfgang Schäuble, will meet his Spanish counterpart, Luis de Guindos, for crisis talks amid fears that spiralling bond yields in the eurozone's fourth biggest economy will force it to seek a €300 billion bailout from the European Union and the International Monetary Fund reports the UK Guardian.

Interest rates on Spain's 10-year borrowing rose to 7.59% – the highest since the euro was created – and the stock market in Madrid fell by 5% in morning trading following fresh bad news about the financial health of the country's regions.

Observers were unimpressed by de Guindos's claim that Spain would not become the fourth eurozone country to require a formal bailout, after Murcia on Sunday became the second Spanish region to request financial assistance from the government. The Spanish finance minister categorically denied that a bailout was imminent, but media reports from Spain suggest up to six regions could require financial aid, with Catalonia next in line.

"What began as a Spanish banking bailout looks to be moving rather quickly towards a possible sovereign bailout. Census figures for 2011 will be released this fall in the critical weeks ahead of the November elections.

The Associated Press surveyed more than a dozen economists, think tanks and academics, both nonpartisan and those with known liberal or conservative leanings, and found a broad consensus: The official poverty rate will rise from 15.1 percent in 2010, climbing as high as 15.7 percent. Several predicted a more modest gain, but even a 0.1 percentage point increase would put poverty at the highest since 1965.

Poverty is spreading at record levels across many groups, from underemployed workers and suburban families to the poorest poor.

More discouraged workers are giving up on the job market, leaving them vulnerable as unemployment aid begins to run out.

Suburbs are seeing increases in poverty, including in such political battlegrounds as Colorado, Florida and Nevada, where voters are coping with a new norm of living hand to mouth.
The lowest poverty level was in 1973 at 11.1 percent.

Reversing poverty by being able to keep your own money to start or expand a business is considered an act of insanity by the Liberal-Socialist Elite.  To the Elite the answer to everything is more taxes and bigger government.

North Korea will step up defiant efforts to boost its nuclear arsenal

• What do you do with the violently insane when they rule a nation that has atomic bombs?
• The Communist north is a nation that lives off the extortion of other countries.

The insane Communist leadership of North Korea has said it was being forced to "re-examine" its nuclear programme because of fresh signs the US remains hostile towards the country.  They indicated they will step up efforts to boost their nuclear arsenal.

"Various circumstances compel us to completely review the nuclear issue," the North's foreign ministry said in a statement released through the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

The North said it had no choice, accusing the US and neighbouring South Korea over a plot to blow up a statue of its founding leader.


A failed rocket launch in April, but new nuke tests are coming

"The consistent hostile policy towards the Democratic People's Republic of Korea pursued by the US is giving rise to the evil cycle of confrontation and tensions on the Korean Peninsula, making the prospect of de-nuclearising the peninsula all the more gloomy," the North's unnamed foreign ministry spokesman said on KCNA.

The plot amounted to a "war action" and ran counter to a deal under which Pyongyang agreed to dismantle its nuclear programme in return for economic and diplomatic benefits and security guarantees, the statement said.

It did not elaborate on what was meant by the review.

But it will add to concerns Pyongyang is planning to conduct a third nuclear test following its failed rocket launch in April - although last month the North said it had no plans "at present" to conduct such a test.      (Aljazeera.com)

Every time there is a tragedy the Statists use it to try and gain another slice of control over your life.

Gun ownership will be attacked hard over the next few weeks.  But that is almost standard.  I am more concerned about attacks on the movie and TV industry.

In violation of the Bill of Rights, assorted Statists want to get control of entertainment in order to "protect" you from images that they do not approve of.


Rio Bravo  -  Shock!  Actors are "killed" in Westerns.  So these films must be banned to protect the children from violent images.

When these fools propose forms of censorship ask yourself, "Who appointed them God?"  But also ask what would be censored by these Morality Police.

Wizard of Oz  -  The Morality Police should have a field day with this film.  Think of the violent images being projected into the brains of children!  There is no doubt that Dorothy is a serial killer.  She crushes one old woman to death and melts another one alive without shedding a single tear!  No remorse at all.  She even sings in joy after the killings.  Oh horror of horrors.

Jesus Christ  -  All films about Jesus would need to be banned.  Images of someone being brutally tortured and murdered cannot be allowed.

Clint Eastwood  -  Except for a few of his pansy and crappy films, all Eastwood movies would have to go just on general principal.

Shakespeare  -  There are rivers of blood in Shakespeare.  Sorry.  It's banned.

The list could go on forever, but you get the idea.

The numbers of Fear  -  Political hacks use fear to enact new legislation.  Fear of movie violence or crime or terrorism in order to chip away at your freedoms.

But the numbers in statistics do not back up the "fear" created by enemies of freedom.  There are 314,000,000 people in the US.  These mass killings are very, very rare, and almost no American will ever come in contact with such a crime.

Sunday Concert - Wierd Al Yankovic

 

For a change of pace this summer we will be doing a Sunday Concert series.

"Weird Al" Yankovic -  I admit it.  Weird Al is one of the great pleasures of my life.  There are few artists I have ever seen in concert who can match his talent:  rocker, folk singer, polka king or rapper.  Al is a master of music and funnier than Hell.  The odd thing is Al's career has long out lasted most of the music artists he makes fun of.

Al has is a music producer, accordionist, actor, comedian, writer, satirist, and parodist. Yankovic is known for his humorous songs that make light of popular culture and that often parody specific songs by contemporary musical acts. Since his first-aired comedy song in 1976.

His works have earned him three Grammy Awards among nine nominations, four gold records, and six platinum records in the United States. Yankovic's first top ten Billboard album (Straight Outta Lynwood) and single ("White & Nerdy") were both released in 2006, nearly three decades into his career.
