Ziba Pasha qizi Ganiyeva (20 August 1923, ShamakhiAzerbaijan or in Uzbekistan – 2010, Moscow) was an Azerbaijani philologist and a former World War II female sniper (Northwestern Front3rd Moscow Communist Rifle Division), accounted for 21 kills and awarded with the Medal For the Defence of Moscow, Combat Order of the Red Banner and the Order of the Red Star.

Roza Georgiyevna Shanina (3 April 1924 – 28 January 1945) was a Soviet sniper during World War II who was credited with fifty-nine confirmed kills, including twelve soldiers during the Battle of Vilnius.  In 1944, a Canadian newspaper described Shanina as "the unseen terror of East Prussia".  Shanina was killed in action during the East Prussian Offensive while shielding the severely wounded commander of an artillery unit.
