Does Paul Ryan give Florida to Obama?

Paul Ryan  -  A major campaign mistake???
  • Will Ryan's selection change the national debate from jobs and the poor economy to insane micro budget issues?
  • Will Ryan's Social Security/Medicare positions give Obama the state of Florida and the election on a silver platter?

By Gary;

Every four years it is the same story for both parties.  Candidates are selected and the drums start to beat that the candidate is the second coming of Jesus himself.

This is standard stuff directed at the media and voters.

Get yourself past the current GOP hype and ask:  "Does the selection of Ryan re-elect Obama?"

FLORIDA  -  Let's get right down to the meat of the potato.  In 2008 Comrade Obama carried the vital 27 electoral college votes of the super state of Florida.  If the GOP cannot carry Florida then the election is over.  Period.

That is the reason I am fucking pissed that Romney did not select Florida Senator Marco Rubio.  Sorry, no one gives a crap about Wisconsin which has voted Democrat in the last six Presidential elections.

An an anonymous Congressman from a rural state, Ryan's budget positions on Social Security/Medicare had no real meaning.  But now we come to the retirement mecca of Florida where Ryan's detailed "reform" plans for Medicare play right into the hands of Democrats.

Time will tell if Romney giving Senator Rubio the middle finger was the deciding moment in the 2012 election.

Dick Morris  -  Paul Ryan--Help or Hurt?

A Standard Republican - Ryan is a standard Big Government Republican. Since the 1930s the GOP has embraced New Deal-Great Society spending programs as their own in order to win or buy votes at election time.

Ryan is that standard establishment Republican. A carbon copy of Mitt Romney if you will. Pro Big Government, but at the same time pro business and pro 2nd Amendment.

With all their Big Government baggage, the Romney-Ryan pro-business positions put them head and shoulders above the Marxist Democrat Party.

Ryan - a double edged sword.
A pro-2nd Amendment Paul Ryan is what believers in freedom want.
.
But his positions on Medicare are tailor made for TV ads to frighten senior citizens in the ultra-vital state of Florida that Obama carried in 2008.

The Ryan selection has given Romney a sizable bump in swing states according to Zogby.

Time will tell. The Democrats have won six straight Presidential elections in Wisconsin.

But Florida is worth triple the votes of Wisconsin.
