Fight Club author takes credit for ‘snowflake’ term

Nothing matters
and so what if it does

  • One of the top ten movies of all time has to be Fight Club. In a very strange way it attacked rigid and often idiotic societal rules, political correctness and insane consumerism. The movie proudly proclaimed you should live your life for YOU, not for corporations or other people.

(UK Independent)  -  Though it’s become a go-to slur for Trump supporters sounding off on Fox News, the term ‘snowflake’ started out among the Left, a way of criticising its own for being too sensitive, too easily outraged and too entitled.

If it rings a bell, it’s because it originated in Chuck Palahniuk’s Fight Club novel, the Tyler Durden line being notably emphasised in David Fincher’s 1999 film adaptation.

Asked about the popularisation of the term by the Evening Standard, Palahniuk said: “It does come from Fight Club. There is a line, ‘You are not special. You are not a beautiful and unique snowflake.’”

You could argue the film is about rejecting the kind of slacktivism that is widespread today in favour of actual action (albeit the pyromaniacal kind). Palahniuk does take issue with this generation’s mindset.

“There is a kind of new Victorianism,” he said. “Every generation gets offended by different things but my friends who teach in high school tell me that their students are very easily offended.”

He believes in the face of a renewed Right under Trump, the Left needs to change its approach.

“The modern Left is always reacting to things, once they get their show on the road culturally they will stop being so offended.” He claimed, though added: “That’s just my bullsh*t opinion.”

As to say , in those days of the British Empire , the aim of the executive on youth , was to bring up the education of a gentleman , with honor , and self sacrífice , and all the works , that today seen as old fashioned , or even the model of na autoritarian and backward society .
Thats so cause they in those days , don`t question much the role of the nation , or the grandeur of the people . So they engage as i say on sports , even the noble art of boxing , and those colective sports that bring , camarederie , and esprit de corps , needed for the army, and navy , but that went with them for the civilian life till death .
That kind of upbring , made many generations , even as the role they engage , the colonial service fighthing for the empire on many of those borders .They don`t question that role as much .And they are volunteers .They want to fight on those regiments , or see the world .
Only the slaughter of WWI , for king and country , made the conscription men wonder what in hell they must fight against others men as same as they , working class fellows for the piece of land that kings and presidents needed
They went with joy , they came in a way broken .
But the fighting spirit stay with then as same . Fighthing for a better life , providing for families .
Thats so , cause till today , those traditions of corps , still bound brothers in arms , that even small ones , are in many ways victorious ,but at odds with the way society goes .
The overquestion of identity , the massive introduction of the doubth in social studies , the so "cornered slices " of a society , the safe spaces, and over pussyfication of the values , degrading the role of families , inciting that debt is a virtuos thing , and making joke of those principles that made men and women resolute , the rise of the sleeze atitude , and the use of free ride on others Money , taxpayers , workers , or enterprises , bring societies on the brink of doom.
Thats so cause even they don`t rise against terror , as they must be , don`t point at the murderers , but came down in tears , candles , and selfmortifiing thenselves for that to happen ... for the great laughter of those who inside those societies , are enjoying the liberties , and the social security system , and on weekends go on demonstrations , break down Windows on the main avenue , or planting pressure cookers bombs .
Lots of nonsense .
So the phrase i put : the pussification of well developped countries may give rise to snowflakes , but the barbarismo of others give rise to mobsters and psycopaths.
So many fight clubs are needed to provide resilience , and resolute men and women , to face those really survival , life , challenges of this horrendous days western world and others are facing .
