Why do small government
"Conservatives" hate the Constitution?
"Conservatives" hate the Constitution?
- The Conservative Supreme Court now allows local governments to adopt Christian prayers as the official prayer of that city or county and insult all other American citizens from Jews to Hindus to atheists.
By Gary;
Another day and yet another 5-4 decision from the so-called small government "Conservative" Supreme Court that undermines our freedoms.
Now don't get me wrong. The Court has acted to protect guns and restored some freedom in campaign financing.
But there are a lot of other parts of the Constitution where the "Conservative" justices have fallen flat on their face such as approving Socialist Obamacare or failing to uphold the Bill of Rights against the growing Federalized Police State.
Now we have the "Conservatives" attacking freedom of religion by allowing the New York town of Greece, near Rochester, to begin its council meetings with a Christian prayer. Other religions and those without faith were told by the Court to go fuck themselves. Only Christians were allowed to pray.
.
The court’s four liberal judges disagreed.
.
Greece’s practice “does not square with the First Amendment’s promise that every citizen, irrespective of her religion, owns an equal share in her government,” Justice Elena Kagan said in their dissent.
The constitution restricts Congress from the “establishment of religion.”
“The Supreme Court just relegated millions of Americans — both believers and nonbelievers — to second-class citizenship,” said Barry Lynn, executive director of Americans United for Separation of Church and State reports the New York Daily News.
.
The entire majority — Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Antonin Scalia, Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas and Kennedy — is Catholic. Dissenting Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen Breyer and Kagan are all Jewish, joined by Sonia Sotomayor, a Catholic.
.
Problem Solved - The problem of freedom of religion has been solved in my California city. It has a sign up sheet for council meetings. The different groups can have their religious leader sign up for reading a prayer at a city council meeting. One week there might be a Jew, the next a Catholic etc. etc.
.
Everyone is happy and respected. How hard is that? "Small government" Conservatives need to actually practice what they claim to believe in.
A Radical Thought.
How about respect the faith of all Americans?
