GOP Votes to Decriminalize Firearm “Silencers”

Idiot Alert

  • Jesus H. Christ. Moron Republicans vote to allow gun silencers to be sold to every crazy bastard out there looking to kill cops or slaughter Christians in a Jihad.

(Tenth Amendment Center)  -  On Monday, the Tennessee Senate passed a bill that would decriminalize the manufacture and possession of firearm silencers in the state. Final passage of the bill would help foster an environment hostile to federal gun control.
Sen. Steve Southerland (R-Morristown) introduced Senate Bill 921 (SB921) earlier this year. Titled the “Tennessee Hearing Protection Act,” the legislation would repeal current Tennessee statutes prohibiting the possession, manufacture, transport, repair, or sale of firearm silencers.
These devices simply muffle the sound of a gun. They do not literally silence firearms. Nevertheless, the federal government heavily regulates silencers under the National Firearms Act. The feds charge a $200 tax on the purchase of the devices. Buying a silencer also requires months-long waits after filing extensive paperwork with the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Passage of SB921 would not alter federal law, but it would remove a layer of law hindering access to these harmless devices.

This is for the Tennessee GOP
What will these inbred Republicans tell the public when Muslim terrorists
come into gun shops and buy cases of silencers?

Not sure if this is a joke or you're just ignorant about suppressors. I realize you live in a bunker in California but maybe you should visit a State where criminals aren't the only people who have guns, and actually fire a suppressed firearm. Then you may realize the ignorance of your post.

Anyone who develops their opinions of "silencers" based on what they have seen in movies or heard from MSNBC is missing out on the facts of life. "Silencers" are hard for criminals to conceal, they do not "silence" anything, and criminals already have access to them.

A $2 thread adapter and a $5 oil filter = a cheap disposable "silencer". Go ahead, youtube it... if a criminal could spend $7 and "silence" his gun. Why don't they all do it? Are we supposed to believe that if a criminal won't spend $7 to build his own "silencer" they will spend $500 to buy one at the gun-shop?

What about the terrorists? Well, aren't terrorists just more motivated criminals? If a terrorist can go into Home Depot and walk out with the material to build a IED, what stops them from building their own "silencers" from materials obtained at that same Home Depot? Only ignorant fools believe laws will stop anyone hellbent on doing anything.

If you were joking then LOL that was a good one... ROFL!

Boy.. your gonna get comments here (fer sure as us rednecks say).
First.. no such thing as a "silencer".... now a "suppressor" will save the ears (makes concealment one hell of a lot harder.. so if your planning on robbing the liquor store, better leave that "silencer" at home").
Even with earplugs (too late in life sadly)... hearing is "shot" (get it) in left ear (thats the ear closest to the barrel when aiming a shotgun or rifle).
I'm really surprised that some law group hasn't filed a class action suit against the Govt for not making suppressors mandatory... seems like it would be an OHSA requirement.
One parting "shot"... suppressors ARE legal (as are machine guns). You just have to be a rich Republican to AFFORD the taxes & license fees. Now, how fair is that?

I don't give a crap.

Try addressing the issue: Do you really want cop killers and Jihadis going to their local gun store to load up on these products????

I suspect the total gun nuts would say "Hell Yes and they should have the right to but machine guns too."

Sorry. I am sane.

Gary, you sir are an idiot on this issue. "Cop killers and Jihadis" are not lining up to legally buy "silencers" despite having legal access in 42 states. To suggest otherwise is incorrect, irresponsible, irrational, and quite laughable.

While legally purchased "silencers" are impractical for "cop killers and Jihadis" to obtain before use, they are very practical for recreational, hunting, and home protection purposes. Tennessee, is merely clearing the way for properly licensed Tennesseans to manufacture and sell "silencers" to Tennesseans willing obtain a FEDERAL TAX STAMP.

Address the issue? According to the ATF, it isn't really an issue across 42 states. Well maybe in your view it is, but I wholeheartedly encourage you to educate yourself further... with facts, not fiction.

For example, it is a provable fact that "cop killers and Jihadis" use vehicles to commit their crimes... how would you propose to keep vehicles out of their hands? That's an issue I could agree with because it is based on provable fact.

End of debate? Or do you want to troll me for more? Maybe it would help you to re-read the blog post you linked... in your case maybe a couple more times... slowly... LOL

P.S. Forgot to mention... You must be 21 to purchase a machine gun in the US. The following states allow private ownership of machine guns if registered with ATF: AL, AK, AZ, AR, CO, CT, FL, GA, ID, IN, KY, LA, ME, MD, MA, MN, MS, MO, MT, NE, NV, NH, NJ, NM, NC, ND, OH, OK, OR, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VT, WV, WI, WY. Some states have their own registration requirements, but most just say you have to have it registered with ATF.
