Google Ads informed Rep. Marsha Blackburn’s campaign Tuesday that her advertisements including video footage of protestors interrupting her moment of silence for victims of the recent deadly mass shooting of a synagogue were disapproved because they contained “shocking content.”
Google Ads, an online advertising platform, would not allow the Tennessee Republican’s campaign for Senate promote two campaign videos as search ads because the content doesn’t meet Google’s standards, according to an email sent to the campaign.
“Unfortunately, we won’t be able to show your ads on Google, our search partners, or on Display Network placements until you edit your ads or keywords to make them compliant with our policies,” the email, which was obtained by The Daily Caller News Foundation, reads.
The ads, one 30 seconds long and the other 15 seconds, show clips from a campaign event on Sunday of protestors interrupting Blackburn’s moment of silence for the victims of the mass shooting at The Tree Of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh.
As Blackburn took the stage to speak to a crowd, she was interrupted multiple times by protesters calling her a “white supremacist.”
As protestors yelled, Blackburn’s supporters began chanting “USA” to drown them out.

(NY Post) - A GOP congresswoman from Tennessee who is running to be the state’s next governor blamed pornography — and the decline of the family support system — for school shootings, according to reports.
“Pornography, it’s available, it’s available on the shelf when you walk in the grocery store,” Rep. Diane Black said during a listening session with ministers at Safe Harbor of Clarksville, Tenn., The Tennessean reported, citing audio obtained by HuffPost.
“Yeah, you have to reach up to get it, but there’s pornography there. All of this is available without parental guidance,” she said. “And I think that is a big part of the root cause that we see so many young people that have mental illness get caught in these places.”
Black made the porn comment as she pondered what drives some kids to violence.

(CNN) - Sen. Bob Corker slammed President Donald Trump's handling of the racially motivated protests in Charlottesville, Virginia, charging that the President "has not demonstrated he understands the character of this nation."
The Tennessee Republican told reporters in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on Thursday that he thinks there must be "radical changes" within the White House.
"The President has not yet been able to demonstrate the stability nor some of the competence that he needs to demonstrate in order to be successful," Corker said, according to a video posted by local news website Nooga.com.
"He has not demonstrated that he understands what has made this nation great and what it is today, and he's got to demonstrate the characteristics of a president who understands that," Corker added.

The House passed SB921 by a 74-18 vote. The Senate previously passed the bill 28-1. The bill now heads to Gov. Haslam’s desk for his consideration.

(The Amendment Center) - Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam signed a resolution setting the stage for creation of state bullion depository, an important first step toward establishing gold and silver as money in the state.
Rep. Bud Hulsey (R-Kingsport) introduced House Joint Resolution 516 (HJR516) in January. The resolution declares support for creation of a gold bullion depository in the state.
“The State of Tennessee supports the safekeeping and storage of gold and precious metal bullion and coins in a Tennessee bullion depository or other such similar facility.”
The Senate approved the resolution 27-0. The Tennessee House passed the resolution 95-0. Approval of HJR516 in both the House and the Senate puts every member of the Tennessee legislature on record as supporting a gold bullion depository in Tennessee. Now you can add the governor to the list of supporters as well.
As the next step, a bill to establish a depository should be introduced and passed during the next legislative session. There appears to be no barriers to getting this done. Now it’s up to activists in Tennessee to keep the pressure on and ensure the legislators and governor follow through.
Last year, the Texas Gov. Abbott signed a bill into law to create just such a facility. The new Texas Bullion Depository will also establish a means for Texans to conduct transactions using these metals.
“A depository account holder may transfer any portion of the balance of the holder’s depository account by check, draft, or digital electronic instruction to another depository account holder or to a person who at the time the transfer is initiated is not a depository account holder.”
In a nutshell, through the depository Texans will be able to deposit gold or silver – and pay other people through electronic means or checks – in sound money. Doing so has the potential to open the market to sounds money in day-to-day transactions.
The passage and signing of HJR516 sets the stage to create a similar gold bullion depository in the Volunteer State. While the resolutions does not carry the force of law, and does not guarantee creation of a depository, it makes such a move in the near future much more likely.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Tenth Amendment Center) – Today, a House Subcommittee voted unanimously to kill a bill to reform asset forfeiture laws to prohibit the state from taking property without a criminal conviction. The legislation would have also taken on federal forfeiture programs by banning prosecutors from circumventing state laws by passing cases off to the feds in most situations.
Rep. Tilman Goins (R-Morristown) introduced House Bill 2428 (HB2428) on Jan. 21. Sen. Mae Beavers sponsors the companion bill in the Senate (SB2272). The legislation sought to reform Tennessee law by requiring a criminal conviction before prosecutors could proceed with asset forfeiture. Under current law, the state can seize assets even if a person is never found guilty of a crime, or even arrested.
Today, the House Civil Justice Subcommittee voted unanimously to kill the bill. Interestingly, even a cosponsor of the bill, Rep. Jim Coley, voted against it.

Another asset forfeiture bill is likely to move forward this session, but out of a number of bills filed, only HB2428 and SB2272 address a huge federal loophole that has been used to circumvent state level restrictions on asset forfeiture.
These bills would ban most instances of a process that allows prosecutors to bypass more stringent state asset forfeiture laws by passing cases off to the federal government under its Equitable Sharing forfeiture program.
(a) A law enforcement agency shall not directly or indirectly transfer seized property to a federal law enforcement authority or other federal agency unless the value of the seized property exceeds fifty thousand dollars ($50,000), excluding the potential value of the forfeited property, if sold.
(b) A law enforcement agency shall not transfer property to the federal government if the transfer would circumvent the protections of this part that are otherwise available to a putative interest holder in the property.
The inclusion of provisions barring state and local law enforcement agencies from passing off cases to the feds is particularly important. In several states with strict asset forfeiture laws, prosecutors have done just that. By placing the case under federal jurisdiction, law enforcement can bypass the need for a conviction under state law and collect up to 80 percent of the proceeds from forfeited assets via the federal Equitable Sharing Program.

(Washington Examiner) - Washington corrupts, and GOP Congressman Stephen Fincher is proof. Fincher, once an opponent of the Export-Import Bank —a federal agency that subsidizes foreign buyers of U.S.-made goods — now is trying to undermine his party's leadership by teaming up with Nancy Pelosi and her party in order to reauthorize Ex-Im Bank as President Obama and his big donors in the business lobby have demanded.
The obvious explanation is that Fincher has pulled up his Tennessee roots and is now firmly planted in D.C. Instead of serving Western Tennessee, Fincher, who sits on the Financial Services Committee, now represents Wall Street and K Street.
Fincher has raised a quarter-million for his re-election, according to his most recent campaign finance filing. Exactly two of his approximately 150 donations have come from Tennessee residents. Tennessee residents have given Fincher a combined $750, which rounds to 0 percent of his money raised.
Fincher has raised more money from the K Street firm Barbour, Griffith, and Rogers than he has from individuals in Tennessee. More than 99 percent of the money powering Fincher's re-election bid comes from political action committees (almost all of them corporate PACs) and K Street lobbyist types.
Studying this lengthy list of Fincher's PAC donors is revealing.
Fincher introduced his bill to reauthorize Ex-Im on Jan. 28. Two days later his campaign deposited a $2,000 check from General Electric, Ex-Im's second-largest beneficiary and most ruthless defender. GE in recent days has announced it was moving jobs to Canada and Europe to chase those countries' export subsidies — though all of those jobs appear to be either nonexistent or already slated to go offshore for other reasons.
Boeing (which benefits from 40 percent of Ex-Im subsidies) and United Technologies chipped in about a week and a half later. All of Ex-Im's top beneficiaries, exporters and lenders (notably Ex-Im's leading lender JPMorgan), have given to Fincher's re-election.
Other corporate welfare recipients give to Fincher and benefit from his votes. Fincher has voted to protect the federal sugar program, whereby our government keeps out foreign sugar and issues taxpayer-backed loans to guarantee high prices for U.S. sugar growers. This hurts families, U.S.-based foodmakers and the economy, while benefitting a handful of privileged sugar companies.
Tennessee produces no sugarcane or sugar beets, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's 2012 Ag Census. But Fincher's donors do.
Sugar Cane Growers of Florida PAC, American Crystal Sugar PAC, American Sugar Cane League PAC, Florida Sugar Cane League PAC, Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Co-Op PAC and the U.S. Beet Sugar PAC are all Fincher donors and all beneficiaries of the corporate welfare Fincher supports.
Fincher's top two sources of funds, according to OpenSecrets.org, are the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies and Regions Financial. Both of these bodies profit from and lobby to expand the federal crop insurance program. Fincher, of course, voted to expand federal crop insurance by $9 billion over 10 years.

School leaders in Dickson County decided, after a summer of controversy surrounding the confederate flag, the wise thing to do would be to ban all flags and banners.
Some students are angry as they feel their patriotism is being compromised.
School leaders said there is a right and wrong way to show American pride:
“It’s not an unpatriotic act by any means because we have a number of ways in which students do learn how to be patriotic and express American pride.”
One student said, “I just think that’s a right…it’s freedom of expression and I don’t think you should be able to take that away from us.”
Students said they were told they would get kicked out if they bring an American flag onto school property.
So far, school leaders say they haven’t had any issues.

It turns out that one officer was able to get some shots off at the terrorist, but he did with a personal sidearm. And in Obama’s America, that’s just not allowed.
Mohammod Abdulazeez was slain last Thursday after allegedly firing dozens of shots at two separate military facilities, including the Navy Operational Support Center in Chattanooga. The cold-blooded assault killed four Marines and one active-duty Navy reservist.
The center’s commanding officer, Lt. Cmdr. Timothy White, used his personal firearm to engage the shooter during the attack, according to sources quoted in the Navy Times. A report from The Washington Post said that one of the Marines killed in the shooting might have been carrying a 9 mm Glock and possibly returned fire on Abdulazeez. The Navy officer could face disciplinary action for violating policy about possessing a weapon on the facility that was supposed a gun-free zone.
The investigation into the attack is ongoing, and authorities will not know if White or the Marine hit Abdulazeez until an autopsy and a ballistics report have been completed. The recruiting center, the other building at which the gunman fired, was reopened Monday.
In a rational country, not only would he not be punished for what he did but he’d be commended for his heroism.

(The Marine Corps Times) - The military services have taken swift action to increase security after Thursday's shootings in Tennessee, even closing some facilities and telling Marine recruiters not to wear uniforms in public. Defense Secretary Ash Cater approved immediate steps taken by the military branches to increase security and has told the services to get back to him by the end of next week with additional force protection measures, Pentagon spokesman Peter Cook said in a statement on Friday. The steps were taken just a day after a gunman attacked two military facilities in Chattanooga, leaving four Marines and one sailor dead. Suspected gunman Mohammad Youssef Abdulazeez was killed in the attacks on a joint-service recruiting station and a nearby Navy Operational Support Center. One of the steps Carter approved was Marine Corps Recruiting Command's decision to have recruiters not wear their military uniforms for now, a defense official said. The recruiting command also closed down all offices within 40 miles of the facilities in Chattanooga and increased the force protection condition level from "Bravo" to "Charlie."

(CNS News) – As of Monday morning, July 20, the U.S. flag continued to fly at the top of the pole above the White House (Democrat control) and at the U.S. Capitol building (GOP Control), five days after a gunman launched attacks in which he murdered five U.S. military personnel at facilities in Chattanooga, Tenn.
President Barack Obama has yet to order the flags to half-staff following this tragedy. By contrast, in 2012, President Obama did order the flags flown at half-staff on the same day as the shootings at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.
Last Thursday, 24-year-old Mohammod Abdulazeez, armed with multiple weapons, opened fire at a local military recruiting center before continuing his rampage at the nearby Navy Operational Support Center and Marine Corps Reserve Center Chattanooga.
Four Marines died the day of the shooting at the second facility, while U.S. Navy Petty Officer Randall Smith died Saturday from multiple gunshot wounds to the abdomen.
Abdulazeez died after being shot by police during the incident.
Tenn. Gov. Bill Haslam (R) ordered that the Tennessee State flag be flown at half-staff the day after the shooting, according to local reports.
