Islamists in Syria - Muslim radicals get arms from Saudi Arabia and Qatar
- Our pro-American "friends" in the Middle East are funding and arming Islamic militias in Syria.
- Meanwhile American politicians tell us that the secular government of Syria that protects Christians and other minorities is bad.
- Welcome to Doublespeak.
Rule of Life #1 - Politicians are fucking liars. From the phony Gulf of Tonkin "attack" to Iraqi WMDs to Afghanistan, to Obama's illegal war on Libya and now to Syria, the American people are fed a steady stream of bullshit. Any truth that comes out is purely accidental.
Now Syria's most powerful Islamist brigades (funded by our pro-American Arab friends) have united under a new "liberation
front" to wage jihad against President Bashar al-Assad's secular regime and turn the
country into an Islamic state.
Resistance groups that adopt a more overtly Islamist hue are finding it easier to attract financial support from abroad. Religious fighting groups are the prime beneficiaries of money and weapons donated by the government of Qatar, as well by wealthy businessmen and religious leaders in the Gulf and Saudi Arabia.
Islamists in Syria Get Arms from Saudi Arabia and Qatar
The New York Times reported that Saudi and Qatari weapons are in the hands of opposition fighters, and more so of hard-line Islamist groups than secular rebels.
Syrian Islamists warn they will turn to Al-Qaeda
The Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, while testifying before the Senate Armed Services, has acknowledged that blasts in Syrian cities since last December "had all the earmarks of an Al-Qaeda-like attack".
"We believe Al-Qaeda in Iraq is extending its reach into Syria," Clapper told the Senate.
The Iraqi government confirmed earlier that Al Qaeda has been crossing from Iraq into Syria to carry out attacks on government forces.
From the UK Telegraph - Standing on a patch of muddy scrubland just inside Syria's broken border fence with Turkey, the rebel commander watched glumly as the group of jihadists crossed into his country.
Scruffy, with long beards, some wearing khaki jackets and each clutching a black travel bag, the six men walked silently through the crowd of refugees who had assembled and were waiting to leave Syria. A driver in a pick-up truck quickly greeted the men and drove them away into the countryside.
"Libyans", muttered the rebel Free Syria Army leader under his breath, shooting the men a dirty look. "We don't want these extremist people here. Look at them; we didn't have this style in Syria - who is this? Bin Laden?"
The Muslim Brotherhood has established its own militia inside Syria as the country’s rebels fracture between radical Islamists and their rivals, commanders and gun-runners have told The Daily Telegraph.
