“Life is that gift from God. I think that even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something God intended to happen,” - - - GOP Indiana Senate candidate Richard Mourdock
- Stupid Republican Senate candidates translates into Democrat control of the Senate and no repeal of Obamacare.
Gary Rule #1 - People are fucking idiots.
That being said, why do we give US Senate nominations to morons like Mourdock in Indiana or Todd Akin in Missouri? You might as well just hand over those Senate seats to the Socialist Democrats. Suddenly ousted GOP Senator Richard Lugar is looking pretty damn good.
A number of GOP nominated Senate candidates this year and in 2010 did their very best to hand over seats that should have been Republican to the Socialist Democrats. These loons make Conservatism look bad, very bad. They also make the "moderates" in the GOP look like campaign geniuses.
Because of GOP stupidity, more and more it looks like the Socialist Democrats will retain control of the US Senate. So much for the repeal of Obamacare.
The Indystar News reported that Republican Richard Mourdock ignited a controversy over rape and abortion in Tuesday’s final Senate debate that lit up the Internet and prompted GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney to disavow his words.
Mike Pence, the Republican candidate for governor also pushed himself away from Mourdock's remarks.
The storm erupted 40 minutes into the final hour-long debate between Mourdock, Democrat Joe Donnelly and Libertarian Andrew Horning, when the candidates were asked about abortion.
.
Both Mourdock and Donnelly said they believe life begins at conception.
.
Donnelly said he supported allowing abortions only in cases of rape, incest and to save the life of the mother.
Mourdock, who appeared to choke back tears as he spoke, said the only exception he could support was if the mother’s life was in danger.
“Life is that gift from God. I think that even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something God intended to happen,” Mourdock said, his voice thick with emotion.
Donnelly did not comment on Mourdock’s words during the debate. But afterward he shook his head over them.
“I don’t know any God who would ever intend something like that,” he said of rape. “It is an unspeakable crime.”
Democrat Donnelly faced his own controversy over rape by signing on to a bill last year in Congress that would have cut off federal aid for abortion-related services for statutory rape and incest, while creating a separate category for “forcible rape.”
