Cantor spends $168,000 on Steak; Brat spends $122,000 in total

"Corruptus in Extremis"
  • For years special interests have been pouring money into Eric Cantor's campaigns to the tune of $31,000,000.  All the players are there - Goldman Sachs, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Comcast Corp, Capital One Financial, Bank of America and many more.
  • Multi-national corporations and big spending unions are buying Congressional seats around the country.  Fewer and fewer Congressmen represent the voters.  They have become agents of Billionaire Cartel special interest groups.

Eric Cantor’s loss is historic. No sitting House majority leader has lost an election since the office was created in 1899.

From my point of view a defeat is long overdue.  Elected officials increasingly act like a privileged nobility living the high life.

Rep. Eric Cantor will relinquish his leadership position as the No. 2 House Republican, he announced Wednesday after losing his Virginia primary in a stunning upset.

"While I may have had suffered a personal setback last night, I couldn't be more optimistic about the future," he said at a news conference on Capitol Hill, calling for Republican unity ahead of November midterms.

"Now, while intend to serve out my term as member of Congress in the seventh district of Virginia, effective July 31, I will be stepping down as majority leader," he said reports CNN.

Let Them Eat Steak
Eric Cantor raised 26 times the amount of Dave Brat. Twenty. Six. Times. He spent more on steak than Brat did in his entire campaign. If this isn’t a microcosm of the entire problem, I don’t know what is.
.
From NBC News:  Eric Cantor’s reelection campaign spent more at steak houses than opponent Dave Brat spent on his entire campaign. …According to FEC campaign finance data, Cantor’s campaign spent $168,637 in 17 payments to both Bobby Van’s Steak House and BLT Steak up until May 21.
.
Brat’s campaign had spent a total of $122,793 in that same amount of time. Read the Rest This is the problem, folks. This is it. Out of touch, ruling class, career politicians are excellent at wasting money that isn’t theirs.
