Baghdad Falling - Rebirth of the Persian Empire

Iran's Revolutionary Guard

Will Iran move into Iraq?
Airpower alone will not stop al-Qaeda guerrilla style warfare.

By Gary;

Will Baghdad fall or will they simply put out a welcome mat for the rabid al-Qaeda hordes?

Guerrilla warfare is extremely hard to defeat.

All of the military power of the British Empire could not defeat American farmers shooting redcoats in the back from behind trees.  Napoleon failed to put down the Spanish.  The French failed against Mexican rebels, Algerian Muslims and Vietnamese Communists.  The U.S. failed against guerrillas in Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan.  etc.

Right now Obama is considering airpower without boots on the ground.  Airpower alone will not work.  You cannot level entire Iraqi cities to get at guerrillas embedded with civilians.

Simply you need boots on the ground to keep guerrillas in check.  American boots are not going to be available.

Turkish and Saudi boots are a possible option, but it should be kept in mind that both of those countries have been funding and arming Islamist rebels in Syria.  So where do you turn?

Turning to Iran
The re-birth of the Persian Empire

The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Idiotic American political hacks screamed that the "evil" Assad in Syria was supported by Iran and Russia.  They chose to ignore the fact that Syria is killing large numbers of al-Qaeda, the religious enemy of Iran.

We need boots on the ground, and Iran hates al-Qaeda

Iran will not allow an al-Qaeda dominated state to border on their nation.  I suspect that in an alliance with the U.S., or on their own, Iranian troops may find their way into Iraq.

Where this goes no one knows.  Mesopotamia was part of the Persian Empire for thousands of years.  If Iran's military moves in then what we call Iraq may only exist as a puppet Satrap state of Iran.  The long term implications of this for the international oil markets has not even entered into people's minds.

So when you go to bed tonight remember to say a little prayer of thanks to George W. Bush for destroying the anti-Iran, anti-Islamist regime of Saddam Hussein who kept the Islamists and Iranians in check.

Let's all welcome the re-birth of the modern Persian Empire.

The Persian Empire in 1722
The entire Tigris and Euphrates river valley of Mesopotamia (modern Iraq) was part of the Persian Empire for thousands of years.  It is only natural that they would have a fierce interest in the region for military, cultural and economic reasons.

Re-Creating the Persian Empire
The Shia sect of Islam is found in Iraq, Iran, Syria, the Persian Gulf states, Afghanistan, Pakistan and parts of Lebanon.  If you lay the map of the followers of Shia Islam over this map of Persia in 1722 (see above) they come close to a perfect match.  That is not an accident.  That is the reason that Iran is backing Assad in Syria.  You can expect Iranian "client states" to spring up in Western Asia which might even be absorbed into Iran at some point.
