Professor made students praise Allah before entering office

Creeping Sharia

(Washington Times)  -  A newly retired Muslim professor at the University of Connecticut was caught on camera last year ordering students to remove their shoes and praise Allah before entering his office.
Felix Coe, a former professor of biology at the public university, was seen berating a female student for not removing her shoes before addressing him in his office, according to a video posted last week by Jihad Watch.
“Take your shoes off,” Mr. Coe barked at the student.
“Why?” she asked.
“Then get the hell out of here. I don’t want to see you,” Mr. Coe responded.
“I am a Muslim,” he later explained. “You don’t come into my office with dirty shoes. That’s a curse.”
Mr. Coe then referred the woman to two signs posted outside his office that read, “Remove shoes before entering,” and “Knock first, then request entry / Say: Bismillah.”
“Bismillah” means “in the name of Allah” in Arabic.
In the same video, two men confront Mr. Coe in his office and ask why he required students to follow such rituals.
“I wanted to know why these [signs] are necessary,” one of the men asked Mr. Coe. “Why would a student have to take their shoes off? Why would they have to say [Bismillah]?”

Trump picks WWE's Linda McMahon to lead Small Business Administration

Stone Cold Steve Austin and Linda McMahon

Go Linda!
Wrestling and politics are the same:
showmanship and dominating your enemy.

(CNBC)  -  Donald Trump has picked Linda McMahon, co-founder of pro wrestling company WWE, to lead his Small Business Administration, his transition team said Wednesday.

The 68-year-old McMahon was a major Trump backer during his campaign, giving $6 million to a pro-Trump super PAC.

The SBA has an office in every state and helps with financing and training for small businesses and entrepreneurs. President-elect Trump said in a statement that McMahon would aim to "bring back our jobs and roll back the burdensome regulations that are hurting our middle class."
"Our small businesses are the largest source of job creation in our country," McMahon said in a statement. "I am honored to join the incredibly impressive economic team that President-elect Trump has assembled to ensure that we promote our country's small businesses and help them grow and thrive."
McMahon ran unsuccessfully for U.S. Senate seats in Connecticut twice in 2010 and 2012. She spent nearly $100 million on the two campaigns.

Trump kicks Cruz in the teeth - It's time to unify against the Hildebeast

It's Finally Over
The Donald Has Landed
Trump Delivers a Body Blow to Cruz and Kasich

By Gary;

The Cruz campaign is dead, but the corpse is still twitching a bit.

Cruz is insane to try and claim the GOP nomination when he racks up "massive" numbers like 14% in New York, 11% in Connecticut, 10% in Rhode Island or 15% in Delaware.

To win the November election the GOP nominee will have to carry states that have voted Democrat in the past, and Cruz can't even win a GOP primary in those key states.

Sorry Ted, but carrying the Bible Belt won't cut it in November. But actually Cruz even lost the evangelicals to Trump.

Cruz supporters and many talking heads on TV have trashed these northeastern states that voted this last week.  They forget that in 2014 New York and these other states sent 23 Republican Congressmen to Washington. They have a major roll in GOP politics and they have rejected Cruz and Kasich in landslide numbers.

It is not 1840. Those days are gone. In this modern age a candidate who lost most of the elections cannot win the nomination.

I don't care what happens in Indiana. It's over.

Trump landslides in Delaware and Connecticut

Delaware GOP Primary
16 Delegates

Gravis Marketing, a nonpartisan research firm, conducted a random survey of 1,038 likely Republican Primary voters and 1,026 likely Democratic Primary voters.  The poll has a margin of error of ± 3.0% for Republicans and ± 3.1% for Democrats, all at the 95% confidence level.
The poll was conducted from April 17th through the 18th.  The total may not round to 100% because of rounding.  The polls were conducted using automated telephone calls (IVR technology), with the results weighted by relevant voting demographics.

Donald Trump is close to the 50 percent mark among Connecticut likely Republican primary voters, while Ohio Gov. John Kasich tops Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas in the race for second place, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today.

Likely Republican primary voters give Trump 48 percent, with 28 percent for Kasich and 19 percent for Cruz. Only 5 percent are undecided, but 25 percent of those who name a candidate say they might change their mind before the April 26 primary.

50% Trump sweep in Connecticut GOP primary

(Emerson Poll)  -  In a primary season where every state now counts—on both sides of the ballot—Donald Trump is positioned to sweep the 28 delegates at stake in the April 26 Connecticut GOP primary.

In a statewide poll conducted by Emerson College, 50% of likely Republican voters say they will vote for the billionaire businessman. Ohio’s John Kasich is in second place with 26% of the vote. Ted Cruz, with 17%, risks being shut out of the delegate count if he fails to win 20% of the statewide or Congressional district vote. Six percent (6%) of GOP primary voters are undecided.

Trump holds a solid lead in all five Congressional districts, by margins of 18 to 38 points. Kasich finishes second, and Cruz is third in all five districts. In a tight Democratic race, Hillary Clinton leads Bernie Sanders 49% to 43%, with 6% of likely voters undecided.

Connecticut is a closed primary, same-day registration state. When Independents and Republican voters in the polling sample who expressed support for Sanders were added to the Democratic primary numbers, Sanders closed the current 6-point gap with Clinton to 1 point (47% to 46%). This suggests that if Sanders can persuade his non-Democratic supporters in Connecticut to reregister as Democrats, he could pull off a win without relying on a last-minute swing by younger registered Democrats.

Sanders leads Clinton 58% to 39% among voters age 18-34. Clinton holds a 51% to 42% edge in the 35-54 age group and is up 59% to 41% among voters 55-74. Gender is a significant factor in the Democratic contest, with male voters preferring Sanders over Clinton 51% to 42% and women favoring the former Secretary of State 55% to 36%. Sanders is winning 41% to 35% among those 75 and over.

Connecticut’s 55 pledged Democratic delegates are allocated proportionally, based on the primary vote. Democrats view Sanders very favorably; 80% have a favorable opinion of him, compared to 15% unfavorable, a net +65. Clinton’s favorable/unfavorable rating is net +32, with 65% of Democrats having a positive opinion versus 33% with a negative impression of her. However, she commands more loyalty: 72% of Democrats who find her favorable say they will vote for her in the Connecticut primary, compared to 47% who are loyal to Sanders. Among Democratic voters, Kasich’s favorable/unfavorable rating is 55/35.

Dems adopt Lenin-Stalin Day, Dump Democrat Party founder Andrew Jackson

Dems Approve Lenin-Stalin Day Dinner

  • We Hamiltonians here at The Federalist heartily stand behind the decision of the Connecticut Democrat Party to dump Thomas Jefferson from their annual dinner.
  • On the other hand, what a bunch of fucking retards.  These politically correct Democrat morons dumped Andrew Jackson the founder of the Democrat Party.

(Connecticut Post)  -  Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson are history in Connecticut.
Under pressure from the NAACP, the state Democratic Party will scrub the names of the two presidents from its annual fundraising dinner because of their ties to slavery.
Democrat Party founder Jackson is dumped
Party leaders voted unanimously Wednesday night in Hartford to rename the Jefferson Jackson Bailey dinner in the aftermath of last month’s fatal shooting of nine worshipers at the historic black church in Charleston, S.C.
The decision is believed to be unprecedented and could prompt Democrats in other states with similarly-named events to follow suit.
“I see it as the right thing to do,” Nick Balletto, the party’s first-year chairman, told Hearst Connecticut Media Wednesday night. “I wasn’t looking to be a trailblazer or set off a trend that’s going to affect the rest of the country. Hopefully, they’ll follow suit when they see it’s the right thing to do.”

Working Families Party defeats Dem to win Senate seat

Senator-elect Ed Gomes (Working Families Party)

Free Elections - What a Concept

  • A rare thing.  A small left-wing opposition party defeats a Democrat for a State Senate seat in Connecticut.
  • Question of the day - Why is not a true Tea Party being formed to oppose the open borders, big government loving GOP?

Working Families Party candidate Ed Gomes won a Connecticut state Senate special election Tuesday night, making him the first state legislative candidate to win solely on the party's line.

Gomes' victory represents a vindication of strategy for the progressive party, which typically cross-endorses Democrats.

As a former Democratic state senator, the 79 year old Gomes was known in his Bridgeport-based district as an advocate for a higher minimum wage, guaranteed paid sick days and funding for public education.

"I've supported WFP since the beginning because they always are willing to take a risk in support of a candidate who fights for our progressive vision," Gomes said in a statement. "I'm extremely proud to return to Hartford as the first-ever WFP legislator," reports the Huffington Post.

The WFP has seen some issue advocacy success. A fight over the school board energized Bridgeport activists, who were upset by the board's drive to hire outside consultants and increase standardized testing and teacher evaluations.

In September, WFP-backed candidates defeated three members of the board in the city's Democratic primaries. Connecticut's WFP chapter also helped advocate for the state to pass the nation's first law requiring some companies to provide paid sick leave days.

Since the party had previously run state legislative candidates on its line and failed, it was hesitant to set its expectations too high before the returns came in.

"[Gomes is] definitely the underdog because it's a heavily, heavily Democratic district," Joe Dinkin, the party's national communications director, told The Huffington Post Tuesday. "Voters are habituated to voting on the Democratic line in cities like Bridgeport, as a matter of habit. It's ingrained and it's difficult to overcome. And yet the city has history of electing WFP candidates against the machine, and the public financing system levels the playing field, so we actually had the resources to compete."

23rd Senate District of Connecticut
The unofficial, incomplete vote totals for Connecticut’s special election for State Senate, 23rd district, are: Edwin Gomes, Working Families 1,485; Richard DeJesus, Democrat, 791; Rev. Kenneth Moales, independent, 509; Quentin Dreher, Republican, 152; Charles Hane, independent, 105.

How About a real Tea Party?
The leftist fools who own the open borders, big government loving Republican Party hate Conservatism.
.
The time is way past due to form a new political party, a Tea Party, that stands for true immigration control, small government and the Constitution.  A Tea Party needs its own national, state and county committees and fundraising arms.
.
Congressional seats are tempting, but are insanely expensive to campaign in.  I suggest a Tea Party follow the example of the Working Families Party above.  The Tea Party should target heavily Conservative state legislative seats around the country and defeat GOP candidates in general elections.
.
State by state Tea Party candidates should work to flip 10 to 20 of the most Conservative GOP seats and elect their own candidates.  By holding blocks of seats in state legislatures the Tea Party will put the fear of God into the worthless "moderate" Republican Party and start to force cooperation on key issues.
.
We need to build a new Conservative party from the bottom up.

It is Tea Time - No more Republicans.
It is time to form our own party.

GOP Pulls Ahead in Connecticut Governor's Race

Connecticut Governor
Foley (R) 50%, Malloy (D) 43%

Even the deep blue states are repelled by the Anointed One.

Republican challenger Tom Foley still leads Democratic incumbent Dan Malloy in their Connecticut gubernatorial rematch as voters continue to grumble about the job Malloy has done over the past four years.

Foley now picks up 50% of the vote to Malloy’s 43% in a new statewide telephone survey of Likely Connecticut Voters. Two percent (2%) prefer some other candidate in the race, and four percent (4%) are undecided.

The survey of 750 Likely Voters in Connecticut was conducted on August 18-19, 2014 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 4 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence.

High School Blocks Conservative Websites - Thought Police in Action

Think only Government Approved Thoughts

(Connecticut)  -  A Woodbury High Schooler claims he uncovered political bias in the implementation of a firewall blocking some political Web sites at his school.

18-year-old Andrew Lampart, a senior at Nonnewaug High School, said he made the discovery when he was doing research for a classroom debate on gun control in May. Lampart said he first noticed that he could not get on the web site for the National Rifle Association.

“So, I went over to the other side. And I went over on sites such as Moms Demand Action or Newtown Action Alliance and I could get on these Web sites but not the others,” Lampart said reports Fox News CT.

Lampart investigated further, by broadening his search terms to Connecticut’s political parties.
.
“I immediately found out that the State Democrat web site was unblocked but the State GOP web site was blocked.”

Lampart even looked at Web sites focusing on abortion issues and religion. He found that “right-to-life” groups were blocked by the public school firewall but that Planned Parenthood and Pro-Choice America were not. He also tried to get on web sites such as Christianity.com and the Vatican’s web site but both were blocked. Islam-guide.com he found, was not.

“They’re trying to, in my opinion, shelter us from what’s actually going on around the country and around the world by blocking these web sites. It should be the other way around. The web sites should be unblocked so that students can get different viewpoints from different sides of each argument,” Lampart said.

Lampart claims he alerted the Superintendent of Woodbury schools to the situation but, after a week, nothing was done. He took his concerns to the Board of Education on Monday.

“It’s not a joking matter in terms of having access to both sides of an issue,” Board Chairman John Chapman said.

Chapman sent Fox CT an email saying, “the Board appreciated hearing the comments from Andrew and agree that he has raised an important issue that warrants further investigation.”

Marxist Democrat Millionaire Attacks "Income Inequality"

News Alert - Former "Goblin" extra in The Lord of the Rings is elected to Congress.

He, She, It or Goblin????
Millionaire Democrat claims "income inequality"
is the same as slavery.

Phony leftist Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.), who is worth millions and millions of dollars according to her congressional financial disclosure statement, says Congress needs to tackle income inequality because it “poses an existential threat to our nation and our way of life.”

God I can smell the Bullshit all the way out here in California.  Please note that DeLauro is not giving away her millions to the downtrodden proletariat.  She votes in Congress to take your money by force and give it to those she favors.

On the House floor last Wednesday DeLauro said, “Every generation of leaders in this institution has faced their own time of testing. Whether it’s an economic panic, Great Depression, slavery, Jim Crow, Civil War, World War, Cold War. There are times when our country is confronted with a crisis that poses an existential threat to our nation and our way of life and Congress needs to stand up and act.”

“The test of our time is inequality,” said millionaire DeLauro.  “It’s not too much to say that inequality threatens the continued existence of the middle class in America and even the American Dream itself.”

Democrats and Union President Accept Communist Awards

Democrat Rep. Edwin Vargas (Far Left) at an Obama Event in 2008.
(Picture from TrevorLoudon.com)

At Last - Truth in Advertising
Democrats and union hacks have no fear of
attending a Communist event.

A Democrat State Representative, a former Democrat State Senator and a local Union President walked into a public high school in Connecticut to receive a Communist award.

Sounds like the beginning of a bad joke right?

I only wish it was…

According to an article on the Communist Party USA (CPUSA) News, People’s World, in December of 2013 a Communist award ceremony was held in a New Haven Connecticut public high school auditorium where the Democrat State Rep, Former Democrat State Senator and the local Union President all received awards:

NEW HAVEN, CONN. — From the opening video and drumming to the remarks of the awardees, songs, youth slide show and finale, an atmosphere of unity and optimism inspired the entire multi-racial audience at the 2013 People’s World Amistad Awards, held in the auditorium of Cooperative Arts and Humanities High School.
Taking off from the event’s theme of “Marching On for Jobs, Freedom & Peace,” a thread throughout the afternoon was solidarity with nurses and tech caregivers at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London who had been locked out the night before.
In his closing remarks Rev. Scott Marks brought the crowd to its feet as he called for door-to-door organizing that will “move forward” the fight for jobs and other needs. “I will not go back!” he exclaimed passionately.
Marks and all the awardees praised the vision and work of the Communist Party in their communities. The event was held on the occasion of the CPUSA’s 94th anniversary.
Former state Senator Ed Gomes, a steelworker, state representative Edwin Vargas, a teacher, and Laurie Kennington, president of Local 34 clerical and technical workers at Yale all accepted large framed posters of the Amistad statue that stands in front of New Haven City Hall, cheered on by family, friends, co-workers, elected officials and union and community leaders.

During his acceptance speech, Connecticut Democrat State Representative, Edwin Vargas, stated that the Communists in attendance were the “Hard Core” of the movement and followed that up with a quote from Communist mass-murderer, Che Guevara:
Rep. Edwin Vargas, who taught in the Hartford public schools for 35 years, serving as union president for part of that time, and in many national, state and local positions in union and Puerto Rican community organizations said that while he has received many awards, this one has special meaning because “this is an award from people who are the hard core of the movement.”
Quoting Che Guevara that “the true revolutionary is guided by a great feeling of love,” Vargas elaborated on the fact that justice cannot be achieved without peace.
This isn’t the first time New Haven’s Public School Board has allowed Communists to use their publicly funded high school auditoriums.  In 2010 the CPUSA held their Amistad Awards at the James Hillhouse Public high school in New Haven where John Olson (Top Picture rear row) received an award.

Gun Confiscation Begins

Line in Democrat run Connecticut to register your guns with Big Brother.

Phase One  -  "Register" your weapons
Phase Two  -  Build a police spy system
Phase Three  -  Remove Enemies of the
         State to re-education camps

Via The Blaze:
Connecticut gun owners are rushing to register certain firearms and ammunition that will be considered illegal contraband in the new year.
Under a wide-ranging gun control law passed after the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, they have until Tuesday to submit the paperwork with the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection.
Simply owning a magazine that holds more than 10 rounds, like those for a large percentage of modern handguns, now makes you a felon in Connecticut.

First they register the guns. Then they confiscate the guns. Then they do anything they damn well please.

This will happen in every state where the Democrat Party prevails. The camps won’t open until it has happened nationally.

Liberals use Children in Slavery Re-Enactment on Field Trip

Education - A "Profession" of Retards
  • Retarded liberal "educators" used a school field trip to bully black children into reenacting their white guilt wet dreams on slavery.
  • What next?  A field trip for Jewish kids to reenact the ovens at Auschwitz?
  • No wonder kids are graduating as semi-illiterates knowing little to nothing about anything.

Retard Alert  -  Those who can do.  Those who can't teach.  Never have those words been more true.

African-American middle school students were forced to act as slaves, pretending to be sold at auction and standing in the darkness of a would-be slave ship, all while enduring racial epithets, a human rights lawsuit filed by a student's mother claims.

Sandra Baker told the Hartford Courant this week that her daughter, who is black, said she and other students in her seventh grade class were “terrorized” during a field trip to Nature’s Classroom in Charlton, Massachusetts. Parents of the students, who traveled from Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy 45 minutes away, were not told their children would be participating in a slavery reenactment when giving permission for the trip.

The girl told her mother that on the four-day trip in November 2012, the class was forced to pretend to pick cotton, simulate the quiet confinement of riding on a slave ship, and reenact the Underground Railroad - the network that slaves used to travel north and reach freedom before the American Civil War in 1861 reports RT News.
.

White instructors, who assumed the roles of slave owners and oppressors, told the students that while on board the “ship,” they would have no choice but to go to the bathroom on each other and would be thrown overboard if they were sick.

“I went into a dark room where I had to sit on my bottom with my knees together,”
the girl wrote in a statement read by her father this week in front of the Hartford school board. “My legs fell asleep and were hurting.”

She went on to describe how the students were told they would be whipped if they attempted to escape, some even forced to dance for their “masters.”

“I had to hold my head down and could not make eye contact with the white masters,” the 12-year-old stated. “I heard the instructor ask kids behind me to open their mouths so their teeth could be checked. Some were asked to jump up and down.”

Jon Santos, the director of Nature’s Classroom, told The Washington Post that the three-hour exercise was meant to teach students empathy for what slaves were put through, along with lessons about modern day bullying (the current liberal pussy buzzword of the day).

A social worker and mediation specialist (now there is a bullshit occupation) working for Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy spoke with students earlier this year after they were put through the slavery simulation. An April report seen by the Hartford Courant noted that while some of the students said they have a new found “appreciation for what we have today,” others were clearly upset.

One student wrote that he “started to believe some of the things the group leaders were saying,” and another wrote that it “did not feel like it was a joke, did not know if the leaders were joking.”

Students told the social worker that the staff members – who Santos said average around 25 years of age - used terms such as “Going to get the dogs to eat you” and “Dumb dark-skinned Negro person, how dare you look at me.”

They also reportedly said, “You’re not a person, you’re property,” and “Don’t look me in the eyes, you’re worthless, keep your head down.”

Colonel Benjamin Tallmadge

Benjamin Tallmadge
Colonel in the Continental Army
Chief Intelligence officer for George Washington
Congressman from Connecticut
Federalist Party

(Editor's Note - For a change of pace this winter we will do profiles of some of the Federalists who helped create this great nation. They gave us Liberty. But would they even recognize the centralized authoritarian and socialistic Big Brother nation that calls itself the United States?)

Benjamin Tallmadge (February 11, 1754 – March 7, 1835) was a Federalist Party member of the United States House of Representatives.

Tallmadge, the son of a clergyman, was born in Setauket, New York, a hamlet in the town of Brookhaven on Long Island. Tallmadge graduated from Yale college in 1773, and was a classmate of American Revolutionary War spy Nathan Hale.

American Revolutionary War

Tallmadge was commissioned lieutenant in the Continental Line June 20, 1776; promoted to captain of dragoons December, 1776, and major April, 1777.  Tallmadge was a major in the 2nd Continental Light Dragoons.

Eventually he served as the chief intelligence officer for George Washington, he was promoted to the rank of colonel in September, 1779.

He organized the Culper Spy Ring based out of New York City and Long Island during the American Revolutionary War, using the code name John Bolton. The Culper Ring is thought by some to have revealed the betrayal of Benedict Arnold, though this is disputed.
Nathan Hale hanged by British Scum.
Tallmadge urged his former classmate Hale to
join the Revolution against the dictatorship
of monarchy.

There is actually very little evidence to prove that Tallmadge had heard from a spy in New York City about the Arnold-André plot. However, it would have been easy for Tallmadge to suspect that Arnold was up to no good, since Arnold had arranged to meet Anderson (Major John André's alias at the time) and Anderson was carrying military secrets back to New York City. The only thing Tallmadge could do was to persuade Jameson to recall lieutenant Allen who was already on his way to deliver the prisoner André into Arnold's custody.

However, Tallmadge was unable to dissuade Jameson from informing Arnold of Major André's arrest. Tallmadge's suspicion of Arnold's treachery may not have been strong enough as Jameson later reported in a letter to Washington that neither Tallmadge nor other officers he consulted raised any objections to sending lieutenant Allen with a message to Arnold saying André was now in Jameson's custody.

After Benedict Arnold's British contact, John André, was caught, he was taken to North Castle, where the commander, Colonel Jameson, ordered his Lieutenant, Allen, to take a note and the incriminating documents found with André to their commander, Benedict Arnold, at West Point.

Tallmadge, suspecting André to be a spy, and Benedict Arnold to be his accomplice, tried to have Jameson reverse his orders. He was unsuccessful, but did convince Jameson to send a rider and take Andre to Salem, eight miles east of the Hudson River, and to send the documents to George Washington. Lt. Allen was still to report to Benedict Arnold with Jameson's note outlining the events. Later, Jameson was chastised by Washington for warning Arnold and allowing his escape. André was placed in Tallmadge's custody until André's execution.

Benjamin Tallmadge Tribute 7-4-11

Benjamin Tallmadge, pictured with a sword
at Fort St. George in Mastic.

On November 21, 1780, Tallmadge and his dragoons rowed across the Long Island Sound from Fairfield, Connecticut to Mt. Sinai, New York. The next day they proceeded to the south shore where they captured and burned down Manor St. George, which the British turned into a fort, and captured the soldiers within.

One of the most daring expeditions of the Revolution in Brookhaven town was planned to and carried out by Major Benjamin Tallmadge. This was the capture of the British Fort, St. George, located on the south side of the island at Smiths Point, Mastic. At this point a triangular enclosure of several acres had been constructed at two angles of which were strongly barricaded houses and at the third fort, 96 feet square well protected by sharpened pickets projecting from the earthen mound at an angle of 45 degrees.

The fortification had just been completed and two guns were mounted. It was intended as a safe depository for merchandise and munitions of war. the garrison numbered about 50 men. About 4 o'clock in the afternoon of November 21, Major Tallmadge with two companies of dismounted dragoons, numbering in all 80 men , left Fairfield, Connecticut in eight open boats and crossed the sound landing at Mount Sinai about 9 o'clock in the evening. After securing their boats in the bushes and stationing a guard over them, the troops were set in motion to cross the Island. They had proceeded but a few miles when a severe rainstorm came on, which compelled them to return and take shelter under the boats. Here they remained all night and the next day.
Benjamin Tallmadge

About 7 o'clock in the evening of the 22nd, The rain stopped and the me again started on their march arriving within 2 miles of the fort by 3 o'clock the following morning. Here the troops were divided into three detachments, each of which proceeded by a different route for the purpose of making an attack upon the fort at different points. Major Tallmadge himself led the main column, whose approach was not discovered by the enemy until they were 20yards of the stockade. A breach was quickly made and the troops rushed through to the main for which they carried with the bayonet without the firing of a singles shout. At the same instant the leaders of the other two detachments mounted the ramparts and from the three sides of the triangle a chorus of "Washington and Glory" was shouted by elated victors.

Just then a volley of musketry was discharged upon them from one of the barricaded houses in which a considerable number of the garrison were hidden. The attention of Tallmadge's men was immediately directed to that point and for a few minutes a sharp contest ensured during which the latter forced an entrance to the house and hurled a number of the enemy from the second story windows head long to the ground.

During the encounter seven of the enemy were killed or wounded. The fort was destroyed, 54 prisoners were taken. and a quantity of merchandise brought away. A vessel lying near the fort was also burned.

Having accomplished the object of their visit the Americans returned to Mount Sinai with their prisoners. Major Tallmadge took 12 men and went by the way of Coram where they set fire to a magazine of hay estimated at been collected there by the British. Arriving at their landing place they all returned to Fairfield the same night, Reaching their about midnight. None of Tallmadge men were killed and only a few injured. A letter of commendation was addressed to him by General Washington for the successful capture of fort St. George and the burning of the hay at Coram.

After War Years

After the war, Tallmadge married one of the daughters of William Floyd, settled in Connecticut. In 1783 Tallmadge settled in Litchfield, Connecticut. He was appointed the town's postmaster in 1792.

Tallmadge was the first president of the Phoenix Branch Bank. He served first as treasurer and eventually as secretary of the Society of the Cincinnati.

He was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives from 1801-1817. He was a member of the Federalist Party. This meant that during his entire congressional career he was part of the minority party.

In 1817, Representative Tallmadge persuaded Congress not to grant a requested pension increase to the men who had originally captured Major André, John Paulding, Isaac Van Wart, and David Williams and publicly assailing their credibility and motivations.

Tallmadge was the officer to whom André was taken after his capture, and he said he believed André's account over that of the three captors. He said Williams and the other two were "of that class of people who passed between both armies, as often in one camp as in the other." He said that "when Major André's boots were taken off by them, it was to search for plunder, and not to detect treason." He asserted that "if André could have given to these men the amount they demanded for his release, he never would have been hung for a spy, nor in captivity."

In 1816 he declined to be run for reelection.

Tallmadge died in Litchfield, Connecticut on March 7, 1835. He was interred in East Cemetery.

Tallmadge, Ohio is named after Benjamin Tallmadge.
