(National File)  General Michael Flynn has announced his endorsement of retired Navy Chief Jarome Bell, who is seeking the GOP nomination to Congress in Virginia’s battleground 2nd District. The news marks Bell’s second high-profile endorsement in as many days and comes as America First conservatives and election integrity advocates begin to coalesce around his campaign.

In making his endorsement, General Flynn highlighted Jarome Bell’s Christian faith, family focus, and military career, saying that Bell understands that a servicemember’s oath to the United States Constitution never expires. General Flynn also remarked that he has full confidence in Bell to help lead the charge from Washington as the American people fight back against the “communist assault on our freedoms.”

“Jarome Bell’s 27 years of service in the U.S. Navy as a Chief Petty Officer, as well as his understanding that his oath never expires, proves Jarome will stand his ground against the constant onslaught by the socialist left anti-American attacks,” Flynn said in endorsing Bell. “For these reasons and many more, I am strongly and wholeheartedly endorsing Jarome for the Commonwealth of Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District,” he continued.

N.Y. Democrats reportedly looking to eliminate AOC's district

(WND)  -  As the year 2020 rings in, one of the most controversial names in American politics may soon lose her seat in the House of Representatives. That well-known leftist figure is U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y.

With this being the year of the 2020 Census, it's possible the Democrat's district could be completely eliminated.

"New York is expected to lose a House seat after the 2020 Census, and state Democrats are looking to draw out @AOC's district," pollster Frank Luntz tweeted on New Year's Eve.

Luntz attached his comment to a story from the local New York City magazine known as the City, which proffered the notion that Ocasio-Cortez is intensifying her efforts to persuade her constituents to fill out the Census to help keep her in office.

"Our strategy is all about building trust in the community before the enumerators even come to your door," Ocasio-Cortez told the magazine.

"There's been an increased use of one's immigration status as a form of intimidation."

A whopping 47 percent of the residents in AOC's district are foreign born, and many may fear filling out any official government count.

(Infowars)  -  A Ukrainian oligarch reportedly paid $700,000 to the husband of Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell (D-FL), who sits on the House Judiciary Committee that recently drafted two articles of impeachment against President Trump.

In the two years leading up to Mucarsel-Powell’s election in 2018, her husband Robert Powell made nearly a million dollars working as a lawyer for Ukrainian oligarch Ihor Kolomoisky, who has previously been accused of contract killings and embezzlement.

Kolomoisky, one of Ukraine’s wealthiest men, is currently being investigated by the FBI for alleged money laundering.

With Mucarsel-Powell voting to impeach President Trump on Friday, her husband’s lucrative financial ties to the Ukrainian oligarch who is being investigated by Trump’s FBI is an obvious conflict of interest.

Additionally, Kolomoisky has a vendetta against Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani, who he criticized in the past, saying, “A big scandal may break out,” and that “It may turn out to be a clear conspiracy against Biden.”

Following Mucarsel-Powell’s vote to impeach Trump on Friday, GOP Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel tweeted about the connection, calling it a “double standard.”

(Red State)  -  Freshman Rep. Katie Hill (D-CA), Vice Chair of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform, shared with Elle in a June 2019 interview a quote from the late Rep. Elijah Cummings, Chairman of the Committee “that has stuck with her.”

In one of those first meetings, Hill says, Cummings said something that has stuck with her. “It [was] that our role on Oversight is to get to the truth and to follow the truth wherever it leads us and to expose that for the American people,” Hill tells me over the phone. “To make sure that they have the information that they should have to, frankly, evaluate their government.”

It is in that spirit that we are sharing information obtained from multiple confidential sources relating to Rep. Hill, who’s currently in divorce proceedings. It is this writer’s view that events that occur within a marriage or affairs that lead to its demise should be kept between the parties involved and are not the business of the general public. 

When those events or affairs occur within one of the parties’ workplace, though, and that workplace is the United States Congress, the public should know about them as they determine that elected official’s fitness to serve.

Photographs and text messages obtained by RedState show that Rep. Hill was involved in a long-term sexual relationship with a female campaign staffer. The woman, whose name is not being released, was hired by Hill in late 2017 and quickly became involved in a “throuple” relationship with Hill and her estranged husband, Kenny Heslep.

Heslep and the staffer, according to text messages provided to RedState, believed the polyamorous arrangement to be a long-term, committed relationship. The trio took multiple vacations together, including to Alaska, where this photograph was taken.

RedState was also provided with intimate photographs of the women, which we have chosen not to publish.

According to a source close to the staffer, the throuple agreed to continue their committed relationship when Hill moved to Washington, D.C. on January 2019, but that Heslep and the staffer quickly noticed a difference in Hill’s demeanor. 

By late May, Hill broke off her relationships with both Heslep and the staffer, claiming she wanted to focus on “this important work” and that it wasn’t fair to be involved in a relationship. The staffer, as these text messages show, was distraught and trying to figure out how to move on with her life.

According to the text messages reviewed, after Hill left the throuple Heslep was told “by numerous sources” that Hill had been involved in a sexual relationship for a year with her then-finance director, now Legislative Director, Graham Kelly. In a post on his now-deleted Facebook account, Heslep posted a screenshot of a text message between himself and a friend of the couple in which the friend admits that he now knows about the Hill/Kelly affair.

Hill’s office did not respond to a request for comment.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) had a "twofold" response on Tuesday when he was asked about a bill that would raise lawmakers' pay by $4,500 to $178,500, up from the current $174,000.

"I know when you talk [about] this subject, about a COLA, a cost of living increase, it does evoke an emotion -- kind of an implusive emotion," McCarthy told a news conference. "I think it's one that we should pause."

Socialist Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (D-N.Y.) agrees that she and other lawmakers should get a pay raise.

In a series of tweets on Tuesday, she wrote: "Voting against cost of living increases for members of Congress may sound nice, but doing so only increases pressure on them to keep dark money loopholes open. This makes campaign finance reform *harder.* ALL workers deserve cost of living increases, incl min wage "

She noted that this is not a "fun or politically popular position to take."

(Free Beacon)  -  Federal agencies billed taxpayers millions for lobster tail, alcohol, standing desks, golf carts, and more frivolous expenditures before budgets ran out at the end of the fiscal year.

A new analysis released by OpenTheBooks.com found 66 agencies spent $97 billion last September, the final month of fiscal year 2018. The end of the year taxpayer-funded spending spree included contracts with Coors, millions on iPhones, furniture, and CrossFit equipment.

"In the final month of the fiscal year, federal agencies scramble to spend what's left in their annual budget," OpenTheBooks.com said. "Agencies worry spending less than their budget allows might prompt Congress to appropriate less money in the next fiscal year. To avoid this, federal agencies choose to embark on an annual shopping spree rather than admit they can operate on less."

Resulting government expenditures included $4.6 million on lobster tail and crab; $673,471 on golf carts; $1.7 million on pianos, tubas, and trombones; $9.8 million on workout and recreation equipment; and $7.7 million iPhones and iPads.

A Wexford Leather club chair cost taxpayers $9,241. The government spent $293,245 on rib eye, top sirloin, and flank steak.

Before budgets ran out national security agencies, including the Department of Defense, Department of State, and Department of Homeland Security spent $412,008 on paint and artist's brushes.

The federal government spent $2.1 million on games, toys, and wheeled goods, $490.6 million on furniture, and $62.1 million on household furnishings. Bureaucrats spent $1.1 million on standing desks, as well as $2.7 million on ergonomic chairs, $643,833 on sofas, and $40,379 on clocks.

The government's PR budget also did not suffer, as agencies spent $462 million on public relations and marketing in the final month of the fiscal year.

Agencies spent $402 million on food, including the Pentagon, which spent $2.3 million on snow crab, Alaskan king crab, and crab legs, and $2.3 million on lobster tail. The Pentagon and Department of State spent $308,994 on alcohol, including a $76,173 contract with Coors Brewing Company.

The total $97 billion spent in September 2018 amounts to a 16 percent increase from the previous year. Similarly, last year's end of the budget spending binge included millions spent on cars, scooters, fidget spinners, and shuffleboards.

More than half of the spending came during the final week before budgets ran out.

Cohen replied, “No.” Foxx pressed Cohen further, saying, “Can you commit under oath that you will not pursue upward opportunities to provide commentary for a major network with your experiences working for the president?”

“No,” Cohen replied again, before also refusing to commit to not running for political office in the state of New York.

Dems to Force States to Allow Convicted Felons to Vote

(CNSNews.com) - House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D.-Calif.) introduced the first piece of legislation for the newly convened 116th Congress and it is a political reform bill that includes a provision that would force states to allow convicted felons to vote as long as they were no longer actually in prison.

“H.R. 1 will create automatic voter registration across the country; ensure that individuals who have completed felony sentences have their full rights restored; expand early voting and simplify absentee voting; and modernize the U.S. voting system,” says a summary of the bill released by Pelosi.

A subsection of the bill is called “Democracy Restoration.” The summary for that subsection says: “Declares the right of citizens to vote in federal elections will not be denied because of a criminal conviction unless a citizen is serving a felony sentence in a correctional facility.”

It continues: “Requires states and the federal government to notify individuals convicted of state or federal felonies, respectively, of their re-enfranchisement.”

Under the law as it now stands, states determine whether or not a convicted felon is allowed to vote.

U.S. Rep. Clay Higgins believes his colleagues in the House and Senate should be randomly tested for drugs.

“I have observed some behavior that would cause one to wonder,” Higgins, joking, said in an interview with USA Today Network.

Higgins introduced House Concurrent Resolution 135 Thursday that seeks to make senators and representatives subject to drug screenings once every term.

“Elected officials in Washington, D.C. should be subject to the same kind of random drug screenings that blue-collar, working-class Americans have to endure,” Higgins said in a press release.

“Congress shouldn’t get to live by a different set of rules,” he said. “This effort is about maintaining accountability and ensuring sober service to We, the People.”

Higgins, a first-term congressman who rose to fame on YouTube as “the Cajun John Wayne” through his creative Crime Stoppers videos, retains his certification as a deputy marshal.

Early this year, Higgins proposed mandatory drug testing in a Facebook video filmed after he completed a random drug screening for the Lafayette City Marshal’s Office.

Louisiana Democratic Party executive director Stephen Handwerk criticized the proposal on Twitter as a gimmick and touted Higgins’ opponent, Mimi Methvin, who the party has endorsed in the 3rd District race.

“When you haven’t delivered at all for your district I guess all you have is gimmicks and bravado,” Handwerk tweeted. “Let’s send (Methvin) to Congress to get results and no more gimmicks.”

“This isn’t a stunt,” Higgins said. “It’s not about shaming or embarrassing or ending members’ careers. It’s about our body adhering to the same standards almost every other working man and woman is held to on the job. We should be reflective of the people.”

Members of Congress would have to reimburse taxpayers for all costs of the program under Higgins’ legislation.

Reps. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., and Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, allege in the filing that Rosenstein has failed to respond to congressional demands for documents, and Meadows tweeted: "We have had enough."

"For nine months we've warned them consequences were coming, and for nine months we've heard the same excuses backed up by the same unacceptable conduct," Meadows said in a statement, The Hill reported. "Time is up and the consequences are here. It's time to find a new Deputy Attorney General who is serious about accountability and transparency.

"Multiple times we've caught DOJ officials hiding information from Congress, withholding relevant documents, or even outright ignoring Congressional subpoenas — and now we have evidence that Mr. Rosenstein signed off on a document using unverified political opposition research as a cornerstone of a FISA application to spy on an American citizen working for the Trump campaign," he continued, referring to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.

(Daily Caller)  -  Former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski reportedly told the House Intelligence Committee in his latest interview that he was done answering their “fucking questions.”

Lewandowski was the final witness in the committee’s probe into Russian interference, and appeared in front of the committee for the second time last month.

During his first interview in March, Lewandowski reportedly refused to answer questions related to things that happened after he left the campaign in June of 2016. His latest appearance seemed to be more of the same, as he reportedly swore at Democrats and told them he would only answer “relevant” questions.

“I’m not answering your fucking question,” he apparently shouted at one point.

Lewandowski did not deny he used rough language and blamed Democrats for using expletives first.

“I had to repeat on multiple occasions that there was no collusion, cooperation or coordination because the Democrats couldn’t understand my plain English way of speaking,” Lewandowski told CNN. “The language they used in the committee was appalling. I’ve never heard such language used before.”

“I felt the need to respond in kind,” he said.

(Washington Examiner)  -  Former intelligence chief James Clapper is poised to avoid charges for allegedly lying to Congress following five years of apparent inaction by the Justice Department.

Clapper, director of national intelligence from 2010 to 2017, admitted giving “clearly erroneous” testimony about mass surveillance in March 2013, and offered differing explanations for why.

Two criminal statutes that cover lying to Congress have five-year statutes of limitations, establishing a Monday deadline to charge Clapper, who in retirement has emerged as a leading critic of President Trump.

The under-oath untruth was exposed by National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden, who sparked national debate on surveillance policy with leaks to the press.

Many members of Congress, mostly Republicans supportive of new limits on electronic surveillance, called for Clapper to be prosecuted as the deadline neared, saying unpunished perjury jeopardizes the ability of Congress to perform oversight.

"He admitted to lying to Congress and was unremorseful and flippant about it,” Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., told the Washington Examiner. “The integrity of our federal government is at stake because his behavior sets the standard for the entire intelligence community.”

"Political consideration should not affect the Department of Justice from pursuing this matter,” Rep. James Sensenbrenner, R-Wis., said ahead of the deadline. “Complete and truthful testimony is imperative for Congress to conduct effective oversight. It is clear from the evidence and Director Clapper’s own admission that he lied.”

Justice Department spokeswoman Nicole Navas Oxman declined to comment on Clapper.

• A Democrat court re-draws Pennsylvania's Congressional district lines to favor Democrats in an attempt to win back the House of Representatives.
• The Democrats have a good shot when you add in the GOP seats that could be lost in high tax states like New York and California which were screwed over in the tax reform package.

(Washington Examiner)  -  The new congressional district map released by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court Monday not only completely renumbered every district in the state, but also knocked both Democrat Conor Lamb and Republican Rick Saccone out of the seat they are running for in the special election race less than a month away.

The plan also divides the city of Philadelphia into only two congressional seats instead of the current three. It also splits 13 counties, nine of them into two districts, and four into three.

The new map comes weeks after the state high court ruled that the map drawn in 2011 by Republicans was an unacceptable partisan gerrymander.

The court on Monday also allowed for a revised nomination petition calendar for candidates running for U.S. House, moving the nominating period to end March 20, keeping the primary election on schedule for May 15.

"The new map gives the Democrats a nice chance to win at least 8 to 10 of the newly redrawn seats, a nice leap from the current disadvantage of holding only 5 of the 18 seats," said Mike Mikus a Democratic strategist based in Western Pennsylvania.

In short, it completely unravels the Republicans' advantage and actively helps Democrats through some creative geography.

“This new map, as long as it withstands the legal challenge, is certainly good news for the Democrats. I see no reason under this map that Democrats can’t pick up three to five seats,” said Mikus.

Looking at the new 17th District, where Lamb might run, Mikus says any traditional Democrat could win it, “and possibly a more progressive candidate as well.”

Republican leadership in the state house vowed the fight to stop the map from being implemented and indicated they would challenge it in the Supreme Court.

The prohibition, pushed by Rep. Barbara Comstock (R-Va.), took immediate effect as Congress moved toward changing the system for reporting and adjudicating employees’ claims of sexual harassment. The House approved language Tuesday establishing an office to advocate for employees during that process and a separate bill requiring lawmakers to reimburse taxpayers when they are involved in workplace settlements.

“Thanks to the #MeToo movement, the American public has made it clear that they have had enough,” said Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.). “They expect Congress to lead, and for once we are.”
