Trump Marches Off To 1984?

“He gazed up at the enormous face. Forty years it had taken him to learn what kind of smile was hidden beneath the dark moustache. O cruel, needless misunderstanding! O stubborn, self-willed exile from the loving breast! Two gin-scented tears trickled down the sides of his nose. But it was all right, everything was all right, the struggle was finished. He had won the victory over himself. He loved Big Brother”

George Orwell, 1984

By Gary;

I am cutting The Donald a lot of slack on Cabinet appointments and other assorted Administration building efforts.

Let him build his team and then come next summer we will see what he does.

To avoid a Congress that hates him and his policies I suspect much of the action on immigration and trade will all be by executive order. Cool. No argument from me.

But perhaps the most serious issue of all is Trump following the standard GOP-Democrat line and growing the 1984 Police Surveillance State through his appointments and policies.

A first challenge for privacy advocates comes this week: A new rule is set to go into effect on Dec. 1 letting the FBI get permission from a judge in a single jurisdiction to hack into multiple computers whose locations aren’t known.

“Under the proposed rules, the government would now be able to obtain a single warrant to access and search thousands or millions of computers at once; and the vast majority of the affected computers would belong to the victims, not the perpetrators, of a cybercrime,” Senator Ron Wyden, an Oregon Democrat who serves on the Intelligence Committee, said in a statement.

1984 - Trump Hires Big Brother

Trump picked Rep. Mike Pompeo (R-Kan.) to run the Central Intelligence Agency. Said Pompeo:  "It's absolutely the case that we have not been able to secure all the American information that we needed to . . . " and Pompeo and a co-author wrote in a Wall Street Journal commentary in January. “Legal and bureaucratic impediments to surveillance should be removed.”

"Congress should pass a law re-establishing collection of all metadata, and combining it with publicly available financial and lifestyle information into a comprehensive, searchable database," Pompeo wrote.

New Attorney General Jeff Sessions has opposed restraints on NSA surveillance and said in June that he supported legislation to expand the types of internet data the FBI can intercept without warrants.

This is not an attack on Trump. Of all the candidates in both parties only Rand Paul stood up against the NSA Police State. But on other vital issues like immigration and trade Paul was pure open borders.

Almost no one appears to care about the Bill of Rights. So what does a Constitutional Federalist do? At this point all we can do is be watchful.

Great header GIF

It will not matter what Trump and company do about big brother stuff

It's to cheap and easy to farm out the data mining for the Police Surveillance State
