Trump campaign reaches out to Freedom Caucus

What is "Conservatism"?

  • Politicians and talking heads who claim to be "True Conservatives" have ripped into Trump for months and months.
  • I have to wonder which part of Trump's program do these so-called "Conservatives" oppose the most: ending illegal immigration, not importing Islamists, bringing middle class jobs back to America or taking care of our veterans.
  • If "Conservatives" oppose these common sense programs then I guess I am no longer Conservative.


(Politico)  -  The Trump campaign has reached out to the House Freedom Caucus to schedule a meeting with the chamber’s most ardent conservatives — many of whom are also his biggest critics on the Hill.

Rep. Scott DesJarlais — one of the few Freedom Caucus members who has endorsed Trump — pitched the idea to the caucus board Tuesday night on behalf of the Trump campaign. The Tennessee Republican is working behind the scenes to coordinate Trump’s outreach to lawmakers.

The board members, led by Reps. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and Mark Meadows (R-N.C.), agreed to set-up the meeting, though nothing is has been formally scheduled.

One caucus member, Rep. Justin Amash of Michigan, has said he will never vote for Trump. Many others agree but have not been as vocal.
