(Reuters) – The extremist Islamic group has been gaining ground lately taking several towns throughout the states of Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa.
Boko Haram militants have kidnapped another 50 women over the weekend in Nigeria’s northeastern state of Adamawa, media reports confirmed on Monday.
According to the Nigerian Daily Post, Boko Haram foot soldiers stormed Gulak town on Saturday and took the women as they were praying at a preaching ground. Married women were amongst the victims this time, according to residents who managed to escape.
Boko Haram – the extremist Islamic group whose name loosely translates as “Western education is forbidden” – has been trying to declare its own caliphate in Nigeria.
