Secret Service to spy on Facebook, Twitter

Secret Service will use ‘Social Media Monitoring’ software for Intelligence

Yet another "What the Fuck!".

It used to be the horror of 1984 Surveillance State stories were perhaps once a month.  Now we are being bombarded with the Police State Bullshit six to ten times a week.

Now the Secret Service is looking to monitor social media for intelligence purposes, according to a solicitation posted by the Department of Homeland Security.

“This solicitation is primarily for social media monitoring/open source portal software licenses,” the document stated.

“The Government is seeking licenses for software solutions involving, but not limited to, real-time open source intelligence monitoring,” reports CNS News.

Details of the solicitation have not been revealed as the full Statement of Work (SOW) is only being made available to contractors that respond to the notice.

“The United States Secret Service has a requirement for [an] open source portal software licenses/social media monitoring,” a partial SOW stated.

The request was first posted on July 29, and then updated on Aug. 1. Interested contractors have until Aug. 14 to respond.

The Secret Service is already using social media for intelligence, asking people to report tweets with “time sensitive” information on Twitter.

"Contact your nearest field office with time-sensitive or critical info or to report a tweet,” the agency tweeted on Tuesday.

Last year, the Secret Service asked Americans to report tweets that “concern you.”
