We Should Try Free Elections
- Voters on the Left, Right and Middle instinctively understand that they have no representation in Congress. In my case I view the GOP a gun loving left-wing socialistic party.
- Our formerly free elections have degenerated into a corrupt bidding war where multi-national corporations and unions buy candidates. What the people might want has no meaning. Unless you are a millionaire, or willing to be bought and paid for by Billionaire Cartels, you have next to zero chance of winning a race for Congress.
- The people need to demand election reform or get used to the idea of being ruled by oligarchs.
(Gallup) - A majority of Americans, 60%, say a third major political party is needed because the Republican and Democratic parties "do such a poor job" of representing the American people.
This matches the high set in 2013. Since 2007, a majority of Americans have generally called for a third party, with the exception of the last two presidential election years.
Americans have been warm to the idea of a third party for at least a decade. When Gallup first asked whether a third party is needed in 2003, four in 10 Americans said it was. The figure climbed in subsequent polls, reaching a majority of 58% in 2007.
With the exception of presidential election years in 2008 and 2012, majorities of 52% to 60% of Americans have said a third party is needed to address the inadequacies of the Republican and Democratic parties.
