A Little Monday Music - Mildred Bailey - Georgia On My Mind 1931

Starting The Week off on a High Note
  • I have decided to try and start each new week off on a positive high note. But being a glass half empty kind of guy I suspect things will turn into crap soon enough.

Mildred Bailey (born Mildred Rinker; February 27, 1907 – December 12, 1951) was a Native American jazz singer during the 1930s, known as "The Queen of Swing", "The Rockin' Chair Lady" and "Mrs. Swing".

She grew up on the Coeur d'Alene Reservation in Idaho, where her mother was an enrolled member. The family moved to Spokane, Washington when she was 13. Her younger brothers also became musicians.

She recorded the songs "For Sentimental Reasons", "It's So Peaceful in the Country", "Doin' The Uptown Lowdown", "Trust in Me", "Where Are You?", "I Let a Song Go Out of My Heart", "Small Fry", "Please Be Kind", "Darn That Dream", "Rockin' Chair", "Blame It on My Last Affair", and "Says My Heart".

She had three records that reached number one on the popular charts.

The 1st VP of Color Was 90 Years Ago

Sorry the GOP beat you to it Kamala

The Democratic Party, which has historically lagged behind the Republican Party on the issues of racial justice and diversity, finally accomplished something the GOP had already achieved nearly a century ago.

Kamala Harris is set to become the second vice president of color in American history, following in the footsteps of GOP trailblazer Charles Curtis, a Native American who served four years as Herbert Hoover's vice president from 1929 to 1933.

Regrettably, members of the media and other libs are possessed of an irredeemable infatuation with Kamala Harris. As such, they would prefer to see Curtis erased from the annals of history altogether, which is in keeping with the Democratic Party's record on Native American issues.

NPR had to remind its journalists to stop describing Harris as the first person of color to serve as vice president:

Born on January 25, 1860, in Topeka, Kansas Territory, before its admission as a state in January 1861, Charles Curtis had roughly 3⁄8 Native American ancestry and 5⁄8 European American. His mother, Ellen Papin (also spelled Pappan), was Kaw, Osage, Potawatomi, and French.

His father, Orren Curtis, was of English, Scots, and Welsh ancestry. On his mother's side, Curtis was a descendant of chief White Plume of the Kaw Nation and chief Pawhuska of the Osage.

Curtis re-enrolled in the Kaw Nation, which had been removed from Kansas to Indian Territory when he was in his teens. Curtis was strongly influenced by both sets of grandparents.

After living on the reservation with his maternal grandparents, M. Papin and Julie Gonville, he returned to the city of Topeka. There he lived with his paternal grandparents while attending Topeka High School.

Curtis read law in an established firm where he worked part-time. He was admitted to the bar in 1881, and began his practice in Topeka. He served as prosecuting attorney of Shawnee County, Kansas from 1885–89.

Curtis's election as vice president made history because he was the only native Kansan and only Native American to hold the post, as well as the first person of color. The first person enrolled in a Native American tribe to be elected to such high office, Curtis decorated his office with Native American artifacts and posed for pictures by wearing Indian headdresses.

Elizabeth Warren Included In Native American Caucus

The Jokes Just Write Themselves

Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren is one of the participants included in Tuesday’s Native American Caucus at the Democratic National Convention (DNC).

“I’m excited for the DNC Native American Caucus meeting today,” former State Rep. Lt. Governor of Minnesota Peggy Flanagan said in a Tuesday tweet. “Please join @Deb4CongressMN, @sharicedavids, @ewarren, and me (and whole bunch of other good folks) today!”

Warren came under fire in the past for claiming to be Native American, a statement that she has since apologized for. The senator removed DNA test results from her website that showed she was between 1/64 and 1/1024 Native American.

After a group of more than 200 Native Americans wrote Warren a letter asking her to address her claims of Native American heritage in 2018, the senator wrote a letter of apology.

“I am not a person of color,” she said. “I am a white woman, and that is how I identify. In addition, I am not a tribal citizen.”
“I was wrong to have identified as a Native American, and, without qualification or excuse, I apologize for the harm I caused,” Warren added.

Elizabeth Warren scrubs website of Cherokee ancestry claims

Princess Stands on Lies

(NY Post)  -  Elizabeth Warren’s team removed the parts of her campaign website that included her controversial claims of having Native American heritage, including DNA test results that showed she had only minuscule amounts of Indian ancestry.
Warren’s website until Sunday included a video of the Massachusetts Democratic senator getting the results of the DNA test, showing that she had between 1/64th and 1/1024th Native American ancestry, The Daily Caller reported.
Warren at the time said the results proved her claims throughout her academic career that she has Cherokee ancestry, a claim the Oklahoma native said was based on “family lore.”
The claims — and shaky DNA test results — prompted ridicule and charges that she was trying to advance her career by claiming to be a member of a minority group.

SEN. HATCH TROLLS SEN. WARREN, CLAIMS HE’S 1/1032 T-REX

Utah Republican Senator Orrin Hatch released his own DNA test on Twitter Monday evening in response to Massachusetts Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren doing the same to prove she has Native American ancestry.

Hatch, 84, tweeted, “DNA Test Results 1/1032 T-Rex. The rest: other dinosaurs.”

According to his joke, Hatch could have the same percentage T-Rex as Warren might be Native American.

The Boston Globe originally claimed on Monday that the DNA test revealed Warren was somewhere between 1/32 and 1/512 Native American, however they then corrected their story saying the numbers are actually between 1/64 and 1/1,024.

Cherokee genealogist slams Elizabeth Warren’s ancestry claims as ‘ludicrous’

She heep big liar

(Washington Times)  -  A Cherokee genealogist on Wednesday dismissed Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s claims of Indian ancestry as “ludicrous,” arguing that the Massachusetts Democrat “has no respect for true Native Americans.”
Twila Barnes, who has done extensive research into Ms. Warren’s family tree, added that the high-profile progressive leader has angered some Native Americans by appearing to leverage her dubious heritage to advance her career.
“Some just laugh, because it’s so ludicrous. I mean, you know, she has no proof of anything,” Ms. Barnes said on Fox’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”

“She’s a lawyer, and she’s supposed to understand you need proof, yet she keeps claiming,” said Ms. Barnes, whose research appears on the Thoughts from Polly’s Granddaughter website. “Many are angry because they feel like she’s appropriating an identity to gain something from that. And she has no respect for true Native Americans.”
Ms. Warren’s Cherokee heritage claims have dogged her during her 2018 re-election bid, thanks in large part to President Trump’s repeated referrals to the senator as “Pocahontas,” a nickname she has denounced as a “racial slur.”
The Berkshire (Mass.) Eagle, which endorsed her in 2012, called on her last week to take a DNA test to resolve the issue once and for all, while independent candidate Shiva Ayyadurai has sent her two DNA kits, both of which were returned.
Ms. Warren, who is not an enrolled member of any tribe, appeared on three Sunday news shows to retell the story of how her parents had to elope because her grandparents refused to let their son marry a woman of Delaware and Cherokee ancestry.

1984 - Now Canadians remove historical statues

Edward Cornwallis

"Everything faded into mist. The past was erased, the erasure was forgotten, the lie became truth."
George Orwell
1984

(Canadians.org)  -  The Council of Canadians has supported Indigenous-led efforts calling for the removal of a statue of Edward Cornwallis from a downtown park in Halifax.
The Chronicle Herald explains Cornwallis was "a soldier who infamously issued a bounty on the scalps of Mi'kmaqs".
This past weekend we tweeted our support of the Assembly of Nova Scotia Mi'kmaq Chiefs call for the immediate removal of the statue.
Halifax-based Council of Canadians organizer Robin Tress had also planned to be at a 'Removing Cornwallis Rally' this coming Sunday (which may still happen) and participated in rallies this past summer.
The Canadian Press now reports, "Halifax council has voted to immediately remove a statue of Edward Cornwallis from a downtown park, with several councillors calling the bronze figure of the city’s controversial military founder a barrier to reconciliation.
After just over an hour of debate, it took less than 10 seconds for council to vote 12-4 to temporarily place the statue in storage until a decision is made on its long-term fate."
Mayor Mike Savage says, “The Cornwallis statue has become a powerful symbol. I believe its continued presence on a pedestal in the middle of a city park is an impediment to sustained progress and forging productive, respectful and lasting relationships with the Mi’kmaq in the spirit of truth and reconciliation. ...This is not about rewriting history. This is about acknowledging that it is not cast in bronze.”

San Francisco abolishes Columbus Day - Now its Indigenous Peoples Day

Grass hut of Chumash California Indians

Leftists Abolish Italian History

  • Only Leftist Democrat Loons would glorify Indians living in total poverty in dirty grass huts while voting to abolish the history of Italy.
  • To insane Democrats European Americans have no right to a history or a culture.

(San Francisco Chronicle)  -  Goodbye, Columbus.
The San Francisco Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to remove Christopher Columbus’ name from his commemorative day in October, and instead honor the indigenous people living in California long before it was discovered by European explorers.
The second Monday in October will now be known as Indigenous Peoples Day.
The 10-1 vote on the resolution sponsored by Supervisor Malia Cohen elicited cheers and jeers in the board chambers. It came after the board rejected Aaron Peskin’s request that it be postponed.
Peskin, the lone dissenter, said he had been snowed with emails from Italian Americans in his district, which includes North Beach — home of Columbus Avenue. Many of them mark Columbus day as part of their own ancestral heritage.

Statues of Columbus, Jefferson and Washington should come down says Democrat

Liberal Bullshit Alert

  • Democrats love to beat the race drum about stolen land from the Indians, but I have yet to see a single Democrat give their home away to an American Indian.

(New York Post)  -  A radical Brooklyn lawmaker on Monday introduced a new state bill to rename Columbus Day to Indigenous People’s Day, and slammed the famed explorer as a “murderer.”
“This land that all of us inhabit is stolen land — stolen from the indigenous people who were slaughtered and forced onto reservations,” Assemblyman Charles Barron told The Post, adding that “they should be recognized in replace of Columbus Day.”
Barron described Columbus as a “colonizer” who “enslaved Africans and slaughtered indigenous people.”
“He deserves scorn, not glorification,” he added.
Bill A8676 states: “Renaming the holiday is a small beginning in recognizing indigenous people for their historic ongoing contributions to history, culture and economic life.”
“Not only should the Columbus statues come down, but also the statues of Thomas Jefferson … and George Washington,” Barron said.
