Again, where are the Democrats and Republicans hiding while our Constitutional Rights are being abused? Oh that's right, the two big parties are the ones who have ordered, funded and have protected the growing police state in the first place.
Protecting our rights appears to fall to those "crazy" fringe Libertarians and Constitutionalists.
Another question of our constitutional rights arose in Rutherford County, Tennessee on the Fourth of July, and was captured in a video that has gone viral.
A man claims police violated his rights when he was stopped at a DUI checkpoint in Murfreesboro.
The checkpoint stop involved a confrontation between 21-year old college student Chris Kalbaugh, and Deputy County Sheriff A.J. Ross. Headlines and Global News reported that Ross initially asked Kalbaugh to roll down his window, but the student refused, saying he could hear the deputy just “fine.” After Ross asked him to pull over, Kalbaugh asked if he was being detained.
Newschannel 5.com reports that the video may have been recorded for political purposes. Kalbaugh is a member of the Rutherford County Libertarian Party. That party said in a statement that they had been concerned about local DUI checkpoints, and asked members to record any confrontations.
Jim Tomasik of Tennessee’s Libertarian Party said, "The Rutherford County Sheriff's deputy trashing a law abiding citizen's constitutional rights on July 4th makes it clear that the very meaning of Independence Day has become lost on the law enforcement community in Rutherford County."
