Obama's Unconstitutional Somali War keeps going under Trump

Al-Shabaab Muslim Terrorists
Another Unconstitutional War
500 U.S. troops, including special operations commandos, are working with the Somali military to battle al-Shabaab, the al Qaeda affiliate.
(Washington Examiner) - The U.S. Africa Command announced Monday that five suspected terrorists were killed in Somalia over the weekend, when a missile fired from a U.S. drone hit their vehicle.
(EDITOR - The translation of "suspected" means we are not sure who the Hell we are killing, but at least they are dead.)
It’s the latest report from the front lines of a war that few Americans are paying attention to, but where some 500 U.S. troops, including special operations commandos, are working with the Somali military to battle al-Shabaab, the al Qaeda affiliate.
The counterterrorism mission has been going on for five years, during which U.S. troops have partnered with AMISOM (African Union Mission to Somalia) troops and Somali National Security Forces in operations to target terrorists, their training camps and their safe havens throughout Somalia and the region.
Every couple of weeks, the Africa Commands announces the deaths of small number of al-Shabaab fighters.
Last month, two were killed and three were wounded in a drone strike. In February, the U.S. announced it killed nine suspected terrorists in three separate strikes.
As in other U.S. counterterrorism missions, U.S. troops are supposed to avoid direct combat when possible, and stick to advising partner forces in the field.
But last year’s death of Navy special warfare operator Kyle Milliken during an operation against al-Shabaab in a remote area west of Mogadishu, Somalia was reminder what the Pentagon calls “advise and assist” mission are just another form of combat.
“Al-Shabaab remains a threat to Somalia and the region, as demonstrated by their October 2017 bombing in Mogadishu that killed over 500 people,” said AFRICOM commander Gen. Thomas Waldhauser in testimony last month before the Senate Armed Services Committee.
“The challenges facing the federal government of Somalia are enormous,” Waldhauser said, adding there is a “long way to go before they are prepared to secure their own territory.”

Islamists behead nine in Kenya
"Take a Little off the Top Please"
Islamists murder all over the world, but
the U.S. Media spends their time attacking Russia.
(Africa News) - Suspected Islamist militants beheaded nine men in an overnight attack on a village in the Kenyan coastal district of Lamu, police said, days after Somali militants killed three policemen in an attack on a nearby village.
Police said there were nine bodies. A witness, who asked not to be named, confirmed the death toll.
“They raided Jima and Poromoko villages and killed nine men. They were slaughtered like chickens, using knives,” said the witness.
Villagers said a group of heavily armed attackers, many of whom appeared to be ethnic Somalis, attacked the villagers at 11:00 pm. They went house to house searching for non-Muslim men and gathered their victims together before beheading them.
Residents had called police to report suspected al Shabaab militants in the area earlier on Friday.
The attack is close to the village of Pandanguo, where al Shabaab attackers killed three police officers on Friday. Al Shabaab has frequently mounted deadly cross-border attacks on Kenyan soil.
The al Qaeda-linked militant group wants to overthrow the weak U.N.-backed government and impose a strict form of Islamic law in Somalia. They have intensified attacks in Kenya since Kenya sent troops into Somalia.

Trump continues Obama's unconstitutional Somali war
First Obama Bombed Somalia
But that unconstitutional war was not enough.
Now Trump bombs Somalia.
- The pros and cons of being in Somalia (or Yemen or Libya or Syria) are meaningless. What matters is the Constitution. Congress is required to debate and vote on going to war and none of the liars in either party give a damn.
- So the Military-Industrial Complex pushes unconstitutional wars to go on forever and ever.
(Agence France-Presse) - US forces carried out a strike in conjunction with Somali special forces Sunday against Al-Shabaab approximately 185 miles (300 kilometers) southwest of Mogadishu, according to the Pentagon.
The Pentagon said the operation occurred at approximately 0600 GMT "in coordination with regional partners as a direct response to Al-Shabaab actions, including recent attacks on Somali forces."
Somalia's president Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed said Somalian special forces participated in the raid against a training center for the extremist group's militants near Sakow, a district in the Middle Juba region.
"The mission which was successfully ended destroyed an important training camp where the group used to organize violent operations," said Mohamed. "This undermines their ability to mastermind more attacks."
Neither statement mentioned casualties.
US special forces have been deployed in Somalia for years. Drone and missile strikes have also been used against Shabaab commanders and foot soldiers.

Trump to deport 4,000 Somali "migrants"
Bye Bye
(VOA) - Somalia's U.S. ambassador says his embassy has learned that U.S. immigration agents are planning to deport about 4,000 Somali nationals now living in the United States.
"We learned through immigration sources that the total number of the Somalis that are in the books of [U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement] to be removed are close to 4,000," Ahmed Isse Awad told VOA's Somali service Saturday. "Most of them are not in detention centers."
Since Somalia's embassy in Washington reopened in November 2015, the ambassador said, about 170 Somali immigrants who either ran afoul of U.S. law or had their asylum applications rejected have been deported to Mogadishu, the Somali capital.
Most of those previously deported had applied for but been denied political asylum in the U.S., he added. Another group of Somali applicants whose requests for asylum have been denied are now in detention centers or prisons, awaiting deportation.

Now Trump Goes To War In Somalia
Somalis dragging corpses of their enemies through the streets
Trump Gets Suckered By
The Military-Industrial Complex
- The Military-Industrial Complex is pushing Trump into yet another of the unconstitutional wars started by Comrade Obama.
- BOTTOM LINE: Who the fuck cares what faction of Islamists controls this 3rd world crap hole.
(Long War Journal) - The US military has been granted approval by President Donald Trump to target Shabaab, al Qaeda’s branch in East Africa, with “additional precision fires.” This now makes Somalia part of what the Obama administration had described as “areas of active hostilities,” where jihadist groups like al Qaeda, the Islamic State and other terrorist groups can be directly targeted by the US military with looser restrictions on the use of force.
“The president has approved a Department of Defense proposal to provide additional precision fires in support of African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) and Somali security forces operations to defeat Shabaab in Somalia,” Pentagon Spokesman Captain Jeff Davis said in a statement released by the Department of Defense.
“This authority is consistent with our approach of developing capable Somali security forces and supporting regional partners in their efforts to combat Shabaab. Somali and AMISOM forces have already achieved significant success in recapturing territory from Shabaab, and additional US support will help them increase pressure on Shabaab and reduce the risk to our partner forces when they conduct operations,” Davis continued.
The new directive to pursue Shabaab will deny it “safe havens from which it could attack U.S. citizens or U.S. interests in the region.”

'No plans to work' say illegal alien Muslims
Living off the fat of the Christian land
Funny how the Right and the Left join forces
to keep those borders wide, wide open.
(Speisa) - An asylum seeker from Somalia, says in an interview with Lithuanian journalists that he has come to Germany to live well on taxpayer-funded grants for the rest of his life, without having to work. As soon as he has received a German citizenship he also plans to bring his whole "little family" of ten people, he says.
Journalists from Lithuania's largest news portal Lietuvos Rytas (Lithuanian Morning) visited an asylum center in Munich. The 1,200 asylum seekers were from Libya, Somalia and Sudan.
The Lithuanian journalists were astonished when they realized that some of the Somalis they interviewed were quite open about their desire to avoid having to work. "A Somali told me that he had decided to stay in Munich because of the generous contributions and good public services."
- I can learn German. It is necessary to do first, Abdullah admitted in the interview with Lietuvos Rytas.
Then he was asked what he would like to work with.
- No, no ... I like to walk, but not to work - No, I want to live when I'm in Germany.
He has been in Germany for 10 days and declares openly that he is there to live on welfare for life, and he plans to bring his family for the same generous hospitality as soon as legally possible.
- When I get a German citizenship, I will immediately bring my family here. I have almost no family. Only ten people. It's my parents, brothers and sisters, says the asylum seeker.
Asylum seekers get free food, language training, medical exams and dental care in the camp. They may just stay there for eight weeks, however, but that information is new to Abdullah.
- No, they promised me that I could stay here. Just eight weeks? No, I'll be here forever.

Islamists slaughter Gays in Somalia
Al-Shabaab
HARGESIA, Somalia (CBS News) - The al-Shabab extremist group announced Tuesday it has killed a teenage boy and a young man for engaging in sexual conduct. This is the first known time that al-Shabab has carried out what it calls executions over homosexuality.
The Somalia-based extremist group announced the killings via its Andalus radio, saying they were carried out in a public square in Buale, a town in Middle Jubba region.
The group said it killed 20-year-old Isaq Abshirow and 15-year-old Abdirizak Sheikh Ali after they were arrested by al-Shabab’s Islamic police and convicted by a court run by the extremists.
Speaking at the site of the killings, the group’s self-proclaimed judge called the sexual acts “immoral and reprehensible,” the Andalus announcement said.
Also killed was Said Mohamed Ali, accused of spying for the Ethiopian army, the group said.
Al-Shabab, al Qaeda’s East African affiliate, has been fighting for years to impose a strict version of Islam in this Horn of Africa nation. Despite losing territory in recent years, the group continues to carry out lethal attacks in many parts of the country, especially Mogadishu.

Minneapolis Subsidizes Muslim Vacations to Africa
Who wants to vacation in
a hot bed of terrorism?
- Somali immigrants on welfare somehow have extra cash to take "vacations" to a nation overrun by Islamist terrorists. Pardon me if this does not pass my smell test.
(Breitbart) - “Public housing residents in Minneapolis will no longer need to pay their normal monthly rent when travel abroad erases their income, a change particularly sought by East African immigrants,” the Star Tribune reports:
The board of the Minneapolis Public Housing Authority approved this week reverting to its previous policy of collecting only minimal rent during extended absences. The change takes effect once approved by federal housing officials, which is expected by year’s end.Abdi Warsame, a City Council member, told the board that the policy in place for the past five years works a particular hardship on elderly East Africans who must save for long periods if they want to visit their homelands. He said that many receive federal Supplemental Security Income, which is halted when the recipient is outside the United States.Yet the policy required people to keep paying rent, which is income-based. Travelers gone for 30 to 90 days could apply for a hardship, which meant that they paid the minimum $75 monthly rent during their absence, but were required to make up the difference between that and their normal rent over the next year or two.The change will mean that residents will pay only the $75 minimum per month, assuming they apply for the hardship status.
A number of Somali refugees living in Minneapolis Public Housing Authority apartments paid for by the taxpayers apparently take such extended overseas trips regularly.
“From 50 to 75 public housing residents report such absences annually, according to Mary Boler, an agency manager. She said the cost of the change will be less than $50,000. The agency found that the paperwork burden of tracking repayment was higher than anticipated,” the Star Tribune notes.
According to his website, City Council member Abdi Wasame “is a Somali-American and a practicing Muslim.”Read More . . . .

Obama airstrikes kill 22 soldiers in Somalia fighting al Qaeda
Another Undeclared War
- Just a few days ago Caliph Hussein Obama bombed Syrian troops fighting ISIS. Now we see Obama bombing Somalia troops fighting Al Shabaab (al Qaeda).
- Call me a crazy Blogger, which I am, but there might be a pattern here.
- Note - Neither political party cares about this unconstitutional war.
MOGADISHU Somalia (Xinhua) -- At least 22 Somalia soldiers were mistakenly killed and 16 others injured by suspected U.S. airstrikes early Wednesday in the outskirt of Galkayo town in central Somalia.
Osman Isse Nor, Security Minister for regional Galmudug State, told reporters that airstrike only targeted their forces, saying no Al-Shabaab militants were killed during the bombardment, an incident which sparked street demonstrations against U.S.forces.
"The attack occurred at our army base, 30 kilometers east of this town and killed 22 soldiers, wounded 16 others and destroyed armed vehicles. The U.S drones carried out the attack, but we believe that the Puntland security forces gave them (United States) wrong information," Nor said.
The minister said that the attack happened at 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday and called on Washington to give response to the latest deadly incident which saw many residents held street protests against the killings.
Dozens of angry residents chanted anti-American slogans, burning the U.S. flags in protests against the killings and called on the Galmudug regional state to respond to what they termed aggression.
The protesters accused semi-autonomous Puntland State of giving false information to American Special Forces to kill the soldiers who were in their military base and not the militants who have been fighting to topple the Western-backed government.
There were no official comments from either the U.S. government or Puntland State on the airstrikes in the region.
The U.S. maintains a small force unit of about 50 troops in Somalia mainly to advise and assist Somalia and AMISOM troops battling Al-Shabaab militants.
Though they are not in Somalia to conduct combat operations, when called in, their helicopters, drones and manned aircraft are available for quick reaction airstrikes.

Islamic Police roam the streets
Hisba [Islamic Police]: Commission of the promotion of virtue and prevention of vice.
"Take down that bikini calendar and don't even think of building a church."
(Long War Journal) - Radio Andalus, a Shabaab media outlet, has released photos proclaiming to show a “newly established” Islamic police force in the town of Jilib, which is under the control of Shabaab in Somalia’s Middle Jubba region.
The propaganda outlet makes clear the this force is “not an armed force” but only to “encourage people and to prohibit wrongdoing.” It also says that the role of the Hisba (Islamic police) to “protect the quality of food and medicine and clothing in the market and all products in the markets.” Shabaab also shows the ID cards of the new members, highlighting that the oldest is 48 and the youngest 24 and all from the same region of Somalia.
While most international attention is on the Islamic State’s attempted governance in Iraq and Syria, al Qaeda branches, like Shabaab, are largely doing the same in areas they control in other locations. Shabaab conducts its own Sharia courts, instructs Islamic police, education and taxation systems, proclaims “states” and even installs shadow governors for these “states” in Somalia. Where the federal government and African Union forces fail to provide governance, Shabaab has stepped in to fill the void in many places.
In a video released for Eid last month, the jihadist group outlined several “Islamic Wilayaat [provinces]” in Somalia. These include Jubba, Gedo, Lower Shabelle, Middle Shabelle, Bay and Bokool, Hiraan, and Galgudud. While Shabaab claimed new territory in central and northern Somalia, most of its control is situated in the southern half of the country.
Shabaab’s emir, Abu Ubeydah Ahmed Omar, also released a video last month in which he sent a message to his “governors,” reminding them of their duties. The message is also filled with Qur’anic verses meant to disparage the Islamic State and its enactment of Sharia.

Foreign fighters abandoning
Al-Shabaab to join ISIS
(Kenya Star) - The number of foreign fighters joining the Al-shabaab group has declined drastically following the reemergence of Islamic State (IS) group according to US security experts.
Dr Error Southers on Wednesday said more European fighters have opted to join the IS because of their elaborate propaganda strategies through social media message .
Addressing foreign journalists in University of Southern California, Southers said al-shabab has suffered a major blow in funding and it’s currently facing a division because of the IS group.

“We are not finding foreigners leaving here to fight for al-shabaab as it has almost stopped, one of the al-shabaab faction has sworn allegiance to IS, I think we expect to see more internal fighting in the group.” said Southers.
“The al-shabaab has executed former colleagues on suspicion that they are IS supporters.” he added.
He said the IS has been able to effectively lure foreigners to join the group to join jihad course against the west to further their ideologies.
Southers said Federal Bureau of Investigation FBI pulls down over 93,000 hate messages on IS website daily.
Last month Inspector general of police Joseph Boinet said almost 200 Islamic extremist fighters have split from Somalia's al-Shabaab have instead pledged allegiance to IS.
Boinnet disclosed that among those who have joined the pro-IS faction of al-Shabaab is Mohamed Kuno, alias Gamadhere, who is wanted for the Garrisa University attack in which 148 people were killed.

Black Kenya builds wall to keep out Black Muslim terrorists
Another News Blackout
- The controlled Corporate Media Machine somehow forgot to report that Kenya is building a wall to protect their border and their people from invasion by Muslim terrorists.
- Strange, a Black nation builds a wall to keep out Black Muslim terrorists. Maybe, just maybe, protecting your border is not racist.
(Gulag Bound) - Obama might want to take note… his beloved Kenya is building a wall to keep out the very same terrorists that Obama is letting into America. Kenya has announced that they will begin to erect a nearly 435-mile-long wall along their northeastern border with Somalia to keep al-Shabaab terrorists from coming over and killing their soldiers and citizens.
“This wall will help us check on people like al-Shabaab from crossing to and from Somalia. We will not limit movement of other people. There is a need for joint cooperation between both countries and our leaders in dealing with terrorism, which has affected us negatively,” Kenya’s Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery told reporters in Nairobi, according to Defense News.
Nkaissery added: “the security barrier consists of a concrete wall ringed with a barbed-wire electric fence and trenches. It will also have observation posts where electronic surveillance cameras will be installed to monitor movements on either side of the border.”
Al-Shabaab is connected to al-Qaeda. ISIS is fighting with al-Shabaab over turf in Somalia. Just two months ago, Kenya’s National Police warned that al-Shabaab poses a severe security threat to Kenya. The warning came after the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF), backed by Somalia’s national army, killed 34 al-Shabaab Jihadists in two separate attacks.
Al Shabaab raids Kenyan special forces
Nkaissery also told reporters: “that contrary to assertions by the Somali government and some influential clans and communities on either side of the border, the [proposed] fence would not limit or deter the movement of people between the two countries. Instead, he said the fence would limit cross-border terrorist movements and enable the country to prevent attacks which have killed more than 400 people in the country since 2012.”
Many in Kenya who were previously against the wall, are now suddenly for its construction. Somalia’s Maheran clan, an armed and influential border community that had been opposed to the plan, has reportedly embraced the Kenyan government’s plan to construct a border wall. “In January this year, at least 80 Kenyan soldiers died in the Maheran clan communal area in an attack Kenyan officials believe was carried out with the help of local clan militias,” notes Defense News. “The [border] wall will have border posts in Mandera, Lamu and three other border towns. The project is fully funded by the Kenyan government, with labor coming from the Ministry of Transport and the National Youth Service, while the Kenya Defence Forces provides security to the construction crews,” they added.
It is part of a series of measures announced by the Kenyan government to crack down on extremism in its midst in the wake of an attack by al-Shabaab on Garissa University in the northeast which saw 148 people, most of them students, killed by Jihadists.
The US has deployed both manned and unmanned aircraft to bomb an al-Shabaab training camp in Somalia, killing over 150 jihadists. That happened in March.
The massive project has generated heated debate in Kenya. Deputy President William Ruto said the fence would stretch 700 kilometers. “Whatever it is going to cost us and whatever it will take, we are going to make sure that our country is safe,” he added in a televised speech. Interior Ministry Spokesman Mwenda Njoka told IRIN that the barrier would be built by the National Youth Service under the supervision of the army.
Njoka also said:
“The wall is basically meant to limit illegal crossing and monitor movement of people. People with legal documents will be allowed to cross as security agents capture their data. We want to know specifics of people, why they are moving from country to country and what their intentions are.
“It will involve a combination of putting up obstacles and digging trenches, especially in areas which are not navigable, to prevent people from crossing into and from the country. There will be CCTV cameras powered by solar and a control center manned by border patrol units, where information on possible threats will be received, tabulated and action taken in real time. Some areas will have electric fences.
“There will be designated points for people to legally use while entering or leaving the country.
“Government security agents believe al-Shabab combatants do not live in the country [Kenya], but rely on Kenyan recruits to do logistics for them.”

Kenya confirmed it will resume construction of the security wall along its border with Somalia to help curb cross border incursions by Al-Shabaab militants.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery said the building of the 700km wall on the Kenya-Somalia border from Mandera in northeast Kenya to Kiunga in the coast will keep out the Al-Shabaab elements from infiltrating the county from Somalia as well as bar unwanted persons from illegally getting into the country. ISIS - ‘First camp of the Caliphate in Somalia’
ISIS Comes to East Africa
(Long War Journal) - The Islamic State touted a small training camp and announced its first attack in Somalia as part of the its push establish a presence in the country. Islamic State followers in Somalia have been ruthlessly pursued by Shabaab, al Qaeda’s official branch in East Africa, thwarting their attempt to gain traction in Somalia.
The Islamic State released a video on April 14 of the “Commander Sheikh Abu Numan training camp,” which is likely located in the Puntland region in northwestern Somalia. The video, which was produced by the Islamic State’s Al Furat Media, featured former Shabaab commander Abdiqadir Mumin, who is known to be based in Puntland.
The video depicted just over a dozen fighters training in the camp, which is named after Bashir Abu Numan, a former commander who was killed by Shabaab’s Amniyat – the rival group’s internal security and intelligence branch – after he defected to the Islamic State in late 2015.
The Commander Sheikh Abu Numan camp does not appear to be a permanent facility. The fighters were shown undertaking physical and weapons exercises before listening to a speech from Abdiqadir Mumin, who likely holds a senior leadership position within the Islamic State’s fledgling branch in Somalia.
Mumin blessed the camp as the “first camp of the Caliphate in Somalia” before he and the fighters shown in the video renew their pledge of allegiance to Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al Baghdadi. Mumin originally defected to the Islamic State late last year with just 20 of the 300 jihadists based in the Galgala hills of Puntland. The other jihadists are said to have remained loyal to Shabaab. [See LWJ report, Shabaab’s leadership fights Islamic State’s attempted expansion in East Africa.]
In addition to promoting its camp, the Islamic State claimed its first attack inside Somalia. In a statement released on social media accounts today, the Islamic State claimed it detonated an IED against a “a Military Vehicle of the African Crusader Forces in Mogadishu,” according to the SITE Intelligence Group.
