Currently London is burning.  Violent mobs are roaming the streets.  The Brits are considering getting out water cannon.  Water cannon!  What a bunch a pussys.

I am very Libertarian, but I am also a huge Law and Order person.  It is times like this you bring out the Army and do whatever is needed to restore order.  And I do mean whatever is needed.

Here is looking back at the New York Draft Riots in 1863.

With a large and powerful Democratic Party operating in the city, a dramatic show of dissent had been long in the making. The state's popular governor, Democrat Horatio Seymour, openly despised Lincoln and his policies. In addition, the Enrollment Act shocked a population already tired of the two-year-old war.

By the time the names of the first draftees were drawn in New York City on July 11, reports about the carnage of Gettysburg had been published in city papers. Lincoln's call for 300,000 more young men to fight a seemingly endless war frightened even those who supported the Union cause. Moreover, the Enrollment Act contained several exemptions, including the payment of a "commutation fee" that allowed wealthier and more influential citizens to buy their way out of service.

Perhaps no group was more resentful of these inequities than the Irish immigrants populating the slums of northeastern cities. Poor and more than a little prejudiced against blacks-with whom they were both unfamiliar and forced to compete for the lowest-paying jobs-the Irish in New York objected to fighting on their behalf.

On Sunday, July 12, the names of the draftees drawn the day before by the Provost Marshall were published in newspapers. Within hours, groups of irate citizens, many of them Irish immigrants, banded together across the city. Eventually numbering some 50,000 people, the mob terrorized neighborhoods on the East Side of New York for three days looting scores of stores. Blacks were the targets of most attacks on citizens; several lynchings and beatings occurred. In addition, a black church and orphanage were burned to the ground.

Throughout the week of riots, mobs harassed and sometimes killed blacks and their supporters and destroyed their property. Rioters burned the home of Abby Hopper Gibbons, prison reformer and daughter of abolitionist Isaac Hopper. They also attacked white "amalgamationists," such as Ann Derrickson and Ann Martin, two women who were married to black men; and Mary Burke, a white prostitute who catered to black men.

White longshoremen took advantage of the chaos of the Draft Riots to attempt to remove all evidence of a black and interracial social life from area near the docks. White dockworkers attacked and destroyed brothels, dance halls, boarding houses, and tenements that catered to blacks; mobs stripped the clothing off the white owners of these businesses.

Black men and black women were attacked, but the rioters singled out the men for special violence. On the waterfront, they hanged William Jones and then burned his body. White dock workers also beat and nearly drowned Charles Jackson, and they beat Jeremiah Robinson to death and threw his body in the river. Rioters also made a sport of mutilating the black men's bodies, sometimes sexually. A group of white men and boys mortally attacked black sailor William Williams—jumping on his chest, plunging a knife into him, smashing his body with stones—while a crowd of men, women, and children watched. None intervened, and when the mob was done with Williams, they cheered, pledging "vengeance on every nigger in New York."

White laborer, George Glass, rousted black coachman Abraham Franklin from his apartment and dragged him through the streets. A crowd gathered and hanged Franklin from a lamppost as they cheered for Jefferson Davis, the Confederate president. After the mob pulled Franklin's body from the lamppost, a sixteen-year-old Irish man, Patrick Butler, dragged the body through the streets by its genitals. Black men who tried to defend themselves fared no better. The crowds were pitiless. After James Costello shot at and fled from a white attacker, six white men beat, stomped, kicked, and stoned him before hanging him from a lamppost.

Lincoln deployed combat troops from the Federal Army of the Potomac to restore order.  General John E. Wool brought approximately 800 troops in from forts in the New York Harbor and from West Point. 

New York State militia and some federal troops returned to New York, including the:

• 152nd New York Volunteers
• 26th Michigan Volunteers
• 30th Indiana Volunteers 
• 7th Regiment New York State Militia from Frederick, Maryland, after a forced march. 
• 74th and 65th regiments of the New York state militia
• 20th Independent Battery, New York Volunteer Artillery from Fort Schuyler in Throgs Neck.

The New York State militia units were the first to arrive. By July 16, there were several thousand Federal troops in the city

Federal troops remained encamped around the city for several weeks.

        SIR: The enforcement of the draft was yesterday seriously resisted in the ninth district of the city of New York. The mob, variously estimated in numbers up as high as 30,000, attacked the officers of this bureau in the performance of their duty, and destroyed the building in which the draft had been conducted, and many of the rolls, records, and appurtenances connected with the draft. The military and the police force of the city on duty there were overwhelmed and dispersed.

        In the present condition of things, I do not think the draft can be made without additional force. I therefore recommend that four regiments of infantry and a battery of artillery be sent immediately to New York City, and, without intending to travel beyond the line of my duty, I would state that I think the public interest, so far as my department is concerned, would be greatly promoted if Major General McDowell can be assigned to such command as will enable him to direct the military operations necessary to enforce the draft in the State of New York and New England. 'The numbers and importance in this riot are doubtless greatly exaggerated, but I deem it sufficiently serious to justify the suggestions herein made.

States abandon Bush's Socialist 'No Child Left Behind'

What voters do not understand is the Republican Party is a Socialist Party on
the lines of the UK Conservative Party or Germany's Christian Democrats.  The GOP
wants to grow Socialism more slowly than Democrats.

• A mad rush by states to get out of Bush's Socialist "No Child Left Behind Act."
• No Child Left Behind has harmed, not improved, the quality of students’ learning

Face facts.  The Republican Party does not give a damn about our Federalist Founding Fathers and the Constitution of the United States.  Only when the Democrats and Comrade Obama took power were a few token words on the Constitution spoken by a small number of Republicans.

The GOP has massively grown and then protected the centralized Right-Wing version of the Big Brother State.  The 10th Amendment?  Republicans do not have a clue.  A Republican Congress and their Republican President enthusiastically passed No Child Left Behind. 

The stated goal of the GOP was to centralize . . . to FEDERALIZE . . . all education in the U.S. under the benevolent leadership of a Beltway Big Brother.  Again, the Founding Fathers are rolling over in their graves.

States are now rushing for the No Child Left Behind exit door trying to escape from the GOP's centralized Socialist school plan.

Within hours of Education Secretary Arne Duncan’s announcement Monday that he will grant waivers from federal mandates, several states announced that they would apply for relief. Many others are expressing interest, pending the release of more details next month says the Washington Times.

Tennessee didn’t wait for Duncan’s news conference: The state sent its waiver request two weeks ago.

The mad dash to escape high-stakes testing and gain more flexibility represents “a sense of desperation” among states, said Dan Domenech, executive director of the American Association of School Administrators.

“There’s no question that school districts and the states themselves are looking for anything that will provide a break,” he told The Washington Times, adding that states and school leaders are taking a “we’ll do whatever it is you want us to do” attitude toward Duncan’s waiver proposal.

Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton announced Monday, while the ink was still drying on the transcript of  Duncan’s announcement, that his state will take part in the waiver program.

He said in a statement that No Child Left Behind “has harmed, not improved, the quality of students’ learning experiences,” and he will gladly accept an escape route.

“Such a waiver would allow Minnesota educators to focus on what is working in their schools,” he said. “It would provide school boards, administrators, teachers and parents with the flexibility they need.”

The governments of Wisconsin, Kentucky, Nevada, Oregon and other states also say they plan to apply. Florida, New Hampshire, Montana and many more are considering the idea.

Most cite unrealistic expectations of No Child Left Behind as their motivation. The law calls for 100 percent of students to be proficient in reading and mathematics by 2014, a goal widely viewed as unattainable.

Mr. Duncan has estimated that more than 80 percent of schools will fall short of the act’s goal this year, and many schools that continue to make progress are still stigmatized as “failing” under the law.

How do you stop a people from revolting against an oppressive, Statist Dictatorship?  Why by adopting Libertarian policies of course.  Leave people ALONE to run the own lives.  That is what the Baathist government is doing in the city of Aleppo as a bribe to keep them quiet.

Whereas Damascus is the capital and administrative hub of Syria, Aleppo is the economic center where much of the money flows.  Many of the country's factories, textile plants and pharmaceutical companies are in the city.  The city's merchant class has largely been unaffected by the country's deteriorating conditions, and while those who compose it may not be fans of the government, they have the most to lose with instability reports the Los Angeles Times.

There is an overwhelming presence of security forces, police and government enforcers, but also less overt tactics.

The government is telling the residents that they will be left alone (at least for now) to run their own affairs without a corrupt government telling them what to do every second.

The result has been an explosion of economic activity says the Times.

"Construction code enforcement has all but disappeared as the city witnesses an illegal construction boom; electricians, plumbers and tile workers who have been unemployed for years are now barely able to keep up with the work.

Roads in need of repair for years have been repaved. Traffic laws, which had become more strict, are no longer implemented.

Additionally, the need for residents to pay bribes to grease government transactions has largely disappeared, said one Aleppo activist, reached by phone. Instead, the practice has been replaced with an unfamiliar respect for residents, as government employees and police tell people going about their normal lives, "You have raised our heads with pride."

Street vendors hawking fruit, old watches, shoes and children's toys, who were once banned and chased off by police, have multiplied, said one woman who lives in Aleppo."

Freedom creates jobs and wealth.  Who would have thought it possible?

Former Communists in Russia, Romania, China and Hungary have embraced capitalism and in the process created millions of jobs, a middle class and wealth.  Meanwhile U.S. political hacks are doing a 100 yard mad dash toward a Socialist Worker's Paradise of Big Brother Government, worthless paper money, massive debt, a shrinking middle class and unemployment.

Now Communist Cuba is joining the Capitalist club.

Cuba has embarked on a far-reaching experiment to salvage its depleted and, until now, tightly regulated Marxist economy. By significantly expanding permits for Cubans to open their own businesses and hire workers, the Communist government has launched the island on its most remarkable change in years, an expansion of free enterprise that was unthinkable when Fidel Castro was in full control, says the Los Angeles Times.

But his more pragmatic younger brother, Raul, who formally took over in 2008, has ordered a long list of reforms that include slashing the state workforce by up to 1 million people, eliminating many of the subsidies that dominated life here and, most recently, promising to ease travel off the island by Cubans.

Change, of course, comes in fits and starts. Most Cubans probably have yet to feel much in the way of new prosperity, and many among the emerging crop of fledgling entrepreneurs continue to complain of burdensome red tape and the taxes they are required to pay. With credit virtually nonexistent, most must scramble for other sources of capital, such as remittances from relatives in the United States or Europe.

Cuba's economic experiment has the potential to transform its society. The new policy creates jobs, circulates money and stirs a new mentality that values quality and competition. It will not completely remake the economy, however, because for the most part the new work involves services and not production.

New Businesses Open Everywhere

As of July 19, according to Deputy Labor Minister Carlos Mateu, more than 325,900 Cubans had taken out licenses to open, run or work at private businesses involving nearly 200 designated activities, including hairstyling, carpentry, shoemaking and dance instruction.

Another important change is that proprietors no longer have to hire only relatives; with the proper license, they can employ any Cuban.

Nowhere is the boom bigger than in restaurants. The Cuban government first permitted privately run eateries, known as paladares, from the Spanish word for "palate," in the difficult 1990s, when the nation was reeling from the collapse of the Soviet empire and the loss of its major sponsor. But the paladares operated with crippling restrictions, and only the hardiest survived.

Today you can easily find choices varying from the simplest pizza to true gourmet dining. By a rough estimate, more than 100 restaurants have opened in recent months.

Roberto Robaina, unceremoniously dumped as foreign minister in 1999, has just opened the doors on his Chaplain Cafe, where customers sit on white wrought-iron furniture and nibble salmon-stuffed cucumber rolls on black china.

"I wanted to do something different," Robaina said. Dedicated to painting after leaving government (and being expelled from the Communist Party), Robaina has decorated the restaurant in a former mansion with some of his artworks.

Bom Apetite is a restaurant that has been around since the '90s but is now expanding in leaps and bounds to accommodate a growing clientele, said manager Adrian Riera. The menu includes items once prohibited, such as shrimp and lobster, he said, and they are adding on a bar with capacity for 40 people that will serve wine and tapas until 3 a.m.

"We are now something really professional," Riera said, pausing from a meeting with the president of the Cuban Sommeliers Assn. (yes, there is such a thing). "Private businesses are no longer just a family matter. We are moving into another category."

There is possibly more change on the horizon.

The Castro government has said it plans by the end of the year to begin allowing Cubans to buy and sell residential real estate. In keeping with one of the pillars of the revolution, Cubans have been allowed only to swap property in an informal street-corner transaction called a permuta, and no money can change hands. The goal was to prevent fat-cat speculation by absentee landlords who fled to Miami, and the result has been a critical housing shortage.

Under the new rules, Cubans on the island and permanent residents will be permitted to own homes, though no more than one per individual; both sellers and buyers will pay taxes.

Raul Castro, whose economic program was endorsed in June by the Cabinet, has indicated that he has been encouraged by initial results, including 1.9% growth in the gross domestic product for the first six months of the year.

The United States is being ruled by some of the most stupid people in the history of the planet earth.

You have an entire Elite Ruling Class with degrees from "great" universities who are total idiots.  Elitists who could not could do anything practical like drive a truck or build a home if their lives depended on it.  They have no common sense.  No knowledge of history.  No ability to create anything real.  They are fools who know nothing.

or . . . and this is worse . . . they are not stupid, they know EXACTLY what they are doing and the destruction of our economy, space program and inflation is all part of the plan.

I don't like either option.

By the end of 1778, Continentals retained from 1/5 to 1/7 of their face value. By 1780, the bills were worth 1/40th of face value. Congress attempted to reform the currency by removing the old bills from circulation and issuing new ones, without success. By May 1781, Continentals had become so worthless that they ceased to circulate as money. Franklin noted that the depreciation of the currency had, in effect, acted as a tax to pay for the war.  In the 1790s, after the ratification of the United States Constitution, Continentals could be exchanged for treasury bonds at 1% of face value.

Jackie Onassis believed that Lyndon B Johnson and a cabal of Texas tycoons were involved in the assassination of her husband John F Kennedy, ‘explosive’ recordings are set to reveal.

The secret tapes will show that the former first lady felt that her husband’s successor was at the heart of the plot to murder him reports the UK Daily Mail.

She became convinced that the then vice president, along with businessmen in the South, had orchestrated the Dallas shooting, with gunman Lee Harvey Oswald – long claimed to have been a lone assassin – merely part of a much larger conspiracy.

Texas-born Mr Johnson, who served as the state’s governor and senator, completed Mr Kennedy’s term and went on to be elected president in his own right.

A program featuring the tapes will be aired by U.S. network ABC, and it is understood British broadcasters are in talks to show it here too.

ABC executives claimed the tapes’ revelations were ‘explosive’.

They are believed to include the suggestion that Mr Kennedy was having an affair with a 19-year-old White House intern, with his wife even claiming that she found underware in their bedroom.

And they go on to reveal that she too had affairs – one with Hollywood star William Holden and another with Fiat founder Gianni Agnelli – as a result of the president’s indiscretions. It has also been claimed that, in the weeks before Mr Kennedy’s assassination, the couple had turned a corner in their relationship and were planning to have more children.

Historian Edward Klein, who has written several books on the Kennedy clan, said: ‘Jackie regarded the pretty young things in the White House as superficial flings for Jack. She did retaliate by having her own affairs.

‘There was a period during which she was delighted to be able to annoy her husband with her own illicit romances.’

It is believed that Caroline, 53, agreed to the early release of the tapes in exchange for ABC dropping its £10million drama series about the family.

The worst President in American history

John Kennedy was hands down the worst President in American history.

I don't know if Lyndon Johnson had Kennedy killed.  I do suspect that the list of people who wanted to kill Kennedy was a long one from Russian Communists to the CIA to the Mafia to Castro to South Vietnamese.

The man and his family were the Clintons on steroids. 

But the real crime is a willing Liberal American Media, then and now, that spins phony fantasy worlds for a gullible people.

The insane liberal Media Complex created a mythical "Camelot" of brave knights and lovely ladies.  But it appears that both Kennedys were screwing anything on two or four legs in full view of the Secret Service and with a willing Media covering it all up.

To listen to the Media, Kennedy was the greatest thing since the invention of the wheel.  But the reality of his policies were far from Camelot:

• JFK committed vote fraud right in front of reporter Theodore H. White (The Making of a President) and rigged the vote count in Illinois with the Chicago Democratic machine.
• JFK sent Cuban exile troops to the Bay of Pigs to overthrow Castro and then left them to die on the beach unsupported.
• The Russians raised the Berlin Wall in a direct slap in the face to the West and Kennedy did nothing.  A huge test and a sign of weakness that was a direct cause of the Cuban Missile Crisis.
• JFK's Justice Department and FBI under his brother Bobby spied and tapped the phones of Martin Luther King.
• JFK's blundering allowed the Cuban Missile Crisis to be played out in the media instead of being handled quietly.  He brought the world to the brink of nuclear war.  Some suspect the timing of the crisis which happened conveniently two weeks before the November 1962 mid term elections.  President Richard Nixon faced a similar crisis in Cuba, but it was all quietly resolved behind the scenes.
• JFK worked with the CIA and the State Department to overthrow and eventual murder of Ngo Dinh Diem, the President of South Vietnam.
• JFK greatly increased American troops in Vietnam from 900 under Eisenhower to 16,300 by 1963.

Upon learning of Diệm's ouster and death, Ho Chi Minh reportedly said, "I can scarcely believe the Americans would be so stupid." 

The North Vietnamese Politburo was more explicit, predicting: "The consequences of the 1 November coup d'état will be contrary to the calculations of the U.S. imperialists ... Diệm was one of the strongest individuals resisting the people and Communism. Everything that could be done in an attempt to crush the revolution was carried out by Diệm. Diệm was one of the most competent lackeys of the U.S. imperialists ... Among the anti-Communists in South Vietnam or exiled in other countries, no one has sufficient political assets and abilities to cause others to obey. Therefore, the lackey administration cannot be stabilized. The coup d'état on 1 November 1963 will not be the last."

More horrors from Afghanistan

The horrors of Afghanistan go on and on and on

All we ever hear from the politicians is there the "light at the end of the tunnel" speeches.  I guess that is their job.  Got to keep the troops and the folks back home happy.

But just once I would like to see an honest President or Secretary of Defense say out loud, "For the love of God, this thing is a major fuck up."

Forgive me if I don't give a damn about establishing "security" in Kandahar Province.

The United States is facing an invasion with millions of people of all nationalities simply walking into the country whenever they feel like it.  Some are honest people just looking for work.  Others come from Middle East countries that have little love for America.  Our borders are wide open to any crazy that wants to walk in.  We need to defend our own people in San Diego, Yuma and Dallas.

The time has come to secure our own borders.  We need to bring our brave troops home to defend American soil from invasion.

If an army cannot defend its' home country then there is no reason for it to exist.

Obama sends CIA agents and Mercenaries to Mexico

You've got it all wrong.  We aren't Mercenaries.  We're "Private Security Contractors".

The Obama Administration is run by idiots (is that news?)


The United States is sending new CIA operatives and retired military personnel to Mexico and may deploy private security contractors to fight drug cartels, The New York Times said.

PRIVATE SECURITY CONTRACTORS?   Let's do a translation for the public.  Those are called mercenaries.

First, the Obama Administration ships guns to arm the Mexican drug cartels in Operation Fast and Furious.  Second, the Administration sends mercenaries and CIA agents to Mexico to fight the cartels his administration just armed.

Words fail me . . . almost.

Either this American Administration is run by total morons or these are deliberate acts designed to destabilise Mexico and / or to get us involved in their internal problems.

Small numbers of CIA operatives and civilian US military employees have been posted at a Mexican military base, it said late on Saturday.

Security officials from both countries work there side by side in collecting information about drug cartels and helping plan operations, the report said. Officials are also looking into embedding a team of American contractors inside a specially vetted Mexican counter-narcotics police unit, it said.

The new efforts have been devised to get around Mexican laws prohibiting foreign military and police from operating on its soil.

They also aim to prevent advanced US surveillance technology from falling under the control of Mexican security agencies with long histories of corruption, the paper noted.

More than 41,000 people have died in violence blamed on Mexico's drug cartels since the end of 2006, when President Felipe Calderon deployed some 50,000 troops to tackle organized crime.

Obama 2012 endorsed by Communist Party USA

We all knew it . . . now it is official.  Obama is supported by Communists.

The Independent Political Report says the Communist Party has already endorsed Obama.  World Net Daily has the story:

While noting he is disappointed with “some aspects” of the Obama administration’s domestic and foreign policy, Sam Webb, chairman of the Communist Party USA, threw his support behind Obama’s re-election bid.

In an article last week at People’s Weekly World, the official newspaper of the Communist Party USA, Webb discussed the need for a third party consisting of the so-called working class and labor as well as “racially and nationally oppressed people, women, youth, immigrants, seniors, gay and straight.”

“Millions who have to be at the core of this party still operate under the umbrella of the Democratic Party, albeit increasingly in an independent fashion,” he noted.

Webb said that for communists there are major differences between Democrats and Republicans. He urged his supporters to continue to back the Democrats.

Philip K. Dick's nightmare of the future is coming to Mexico . . . and then soon to a city near you


Life imitates art . . . or is it, art imitates life?  Maybe both are right.

Mexico's sixth-largest city, Leon, is on the road to becoming a real-world version of Philip K. Dick's Minority Report, the movie and short story that envision a future in which everyone is tracked wherever they go, reports USA Today.

U.S. biometrics firm Global Rainmakers and its Mexican partner announced that they have begun installing iris-scanning technology in the city of more than 1 million in Guanajuato state, which the press release touts, without irony, as the place "where Mexican Independence was born." The companies aim "to fortify all aspects of life" to create "the most secure city in the world."

The first phase concentrates on law enforcement and security checkpoints. Then the iris scanners, which the firms say can "identify humans in motion and at a distance while ensuring liveness," will fill malls, pharmacies, mass transit, medical centers and banks, "among other public and private locations."

"In the future, whether it's entering your home, opening your car, entering your workspace, getting a pharmacy prescription refilled, or having your medical records pulled up, everything will come off that unique key that is your iris," says Jeff Carter, CDO of Global Rainmakers. Before coming to GRI, Carter headed a think tank partnership between Bank of America, Harvard, and MIT.

"Every person, place, and thing on this planet will be connected [to the iris system] within the next 10 years," he says.

Leon is the first step. To implement the system, the city is creating a database of irises. Criminals will automatically be enrolled, their irises scanned once convicted. Law-abiding citizens will have the "option" to opt-in.

When these residents catch a train or bus, or take out money from an ATM, they will scan their irises, rather than swiping a metro or bank card. Police officers will monitor these scans and track the movements of watch-listed individuals.

"If you've been convicted of a crime, in essence, this will act as a digital scarlet letter. If you're a known shoplifter, for example, you won't be able to go into a store without being flagged. For others, boarding a plane will be impossible."


Life imitates art.  In Minority Report the government tracks you with eye scans in public and private places.  Now that nightmare technology is being put into place by the government "for your own protection".
