Why is Fear The Walking Dead Even On TV?

Who are these people?
And
Why should I care if they are eaten?

By Gary;

Except for having to fill a hole in 24 a day programming there is no reason why Fear the Walking Dead should be on TV.

Like so many I was a huge fan of The Walking Dead and The Talking Dead.  If it was Sunday night you knew where you could find me.

Then in 2015 Fear came to TV. I was eager and waiting.

The first season averaged 11.2 million viewers in "live plus-3" ratings (includes VOD and DVR viewing within three days after initial telecast) to become the highest-rated first season of any series in cable history.

But from that high point it was almost a free fall in ratings.

There were three truly engaging characters in the series:

  1. Alycia Debnam-Carey as Alicia Clark: The fiery daughter of Madison. She developed into a pretty solid star.
  2. Colman Domingo as Victor Strand: A smart and sophisticated conman-turned-businessman. I loved his initial character, but he faded after season 2.
  3. and Rubén Blades as Daniel Salazar: A brutal former Sombra Negra member from Central America. He has the potential to be another Governor or Negan but the writers dropped the ball.

After season 2 the writers increasingly lost control of the series.

There was no real direction for the show. The actors over all were a lot weaker than the original TWD cast, and there was no main character like Rick Grimes to focus on.

Myself and the audience simply stopped caring if the cast was eaten.

The show has turned into filler. . . . it has literally become the walking dead just waiting to be cancelled.

Each season of Fear has seen
a collapse in ratings.

Victor Strand was may favorite character for two seasons.
