A Little Monday Music - Al Jolson

Starting The Week off on a High Note
  • I have decided to try and start each new week off on a positive high note. But being a glass half empty kind of guy I suspect things will turn into crap soon enough.

Al Jolson (born Asa Yoelson; 9 June, 1886 – October 23, 1950) was a Lithuanian-born American singer, comedian, and actor. Jolson has been dubbed "the king of blackface" performers, a theatrical convention since the mid-19th century.

In the 1920s, Jolson was America's most famous and highest-paid entertainer.

With his dynamic style of singing jazz and blues, he became widely successful by extracting traditionally African-American music and popularizing it for white American audiences.
