(ZeroHedge)  On Friday, the Norwegian government announced that most of the last remaining coronavirus restrictions would be scrapped from Saturday, and life would return to normal with “increased preparedness”.

Prime Minister Erna Solberg announced on Friday that from tomorrow 4pm, most of the final remaining national Covid-19 measures in Norway would be dropped.

“Now we can live almost as we did before the pandemic hit us. I do not think everything will be as before. I think the coronavirus will affect us for the rest of our lives, for better or worse. We have learned how vulnerable we are and how much we can achieve when we stand together,” Solberg told a press conference on Friday.

The decision to lift measures such as social distancing was based on advice from the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH) and the Norwegian Directorate of Health. In addition, limits on numbers at gatherings will also be axed, and rules stopping venues letting in guests past midnight will be repealed, and club-goers will be able to hit dance floors once again.

“The NIPH and the Norwegian Directorate of Health gave us advice on Monday that it will be possible to switch to normal everyday life around the turn of the month. The positive development has continued this week, and that is the reason why the government – after a thorough assessment – has concluded that tomorrow at 4pm, we will move on to normal everyday life.

A law goes into effect March 1 that bans the common cooking method of tossing a live lobster into a big pot of boiling water, quickly killing the tasty crustacean. That practice is being outlawed because the Swiss say it’s cruel and lobsters can sense pain.

Among the better informed, even moonbats doubt that lobsters can feel pain. Despite having much larger bodies, they have brains the size of a grasshopper’s (I mean lobsters do; moonbat brains might be smaller).

But this isn’t about sea cockroaches, the consumption of which is negligible in landlocked Switzerland. This is about moonbats reminding us that they make most of the rules, and that they will always side with the Other against you, even if the Other is barely more sentient than a plant.

Lobsters also must be transported in seawater rather than on ice.

Violators of the insane law could get 3 years in prison. Other provisions include:

Hotel Tells ‘Jewish Guests’ To Shower Before Using The Pool

(Daily Caller)  -  Israeli officials have condemned a Swiss hotel for putting up a sign that urges “Jewish guests” to take a shower before using the pool.

A photo of the sign at the Aparthaus Paradies in eastern Switzerland went viral Tuesday after an Israeli family reacted against the wording.

“To our Jewish Guests,” the sign said. “Please take a shower before you go swimming. If you break the rules, I’m forced to [close] the swimming pool for you. Thank you for understanding.”

The sign was signed by Ruth Thomann, the hotel’s owner, who denies having anti-Semitic motives.

“I have nothing against Jews, whom we regularly receive warmly here,” Thomann told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency. “I may have selected the wrong words. The signs should have been addressed to all the guests instead of Jewish ones.”

Previous complaints have concerned a different sign that put restrictions on when Jews were allowed to use the hotel’s fridge.

“For our Jewish guests: You are allowed to access the refrigerator only in the following hours: 10:00-11:00 and 16:30-17:30,” the sign read, according to The Algemeiner. “I hope you understand that our team does not like being harassed every time.”

Thomann explained that Jewish guests were allowed to use the refrigerator to store kosher food. The fridge’s location made it harder for the staff to carry out their duties when people were running back and forth, which is why Thomann imposed the time restriction.

Tzipi Hotovely, Israel’s deputy foreign minister, called the pool sign “an ugly display of anti-Semitism.” She told Israeli press that she has alerted Israel’s ambassador to Switzerland about the issue.

Thomann is confident that Jewish guests will continue to visit the hotel despite the criticism.

“We have lots of Jewish guests, and they have been coming here for 40 years,” she told The Algemeiner. “I would not take Jewish guests if I had a problem with them.”

Businessman Bradley Charvet, who plans to open the ‘blow job cafe’ in Paddington, claims the sex-bots will be programmable to a person’s needs and will soon be seen as “totally normal.”

A 15-minute oral sex session with an espresso will set punters back just £60 (US$78). Hungry patrons will have to pay extra for a pastry.

The coffee shop is due to open after Charvet launches his first cafe in Geneva, Switzerland, later this year.

Charvet made headlines earlier this year when he announced he would launch a ‘fellatio cafe’ modeled on similar businesses in Thailand, such as Dr. BJ’s Salon in Bangkok.

However, the announcement was met with skepticism by many, who cited Britain’s stringent anti-prostitution laws as a reason why the business would be unlikely to take off.

Now Charvet claims the oral sex will be performed by ‘erotic cyborgs.’

“Sex robots will always be pleasing and could even become better at technique because they would be programmable to a person’s need,” he told the Daily Star Online.

“They will improve the sex service. It’s totally normal to see a new way of using robots and others sex toys to have pleasure.”

Scientists are teaching robots how to hunt down prey

(Engaget)  -  Intelligent robots are all well and good until they start learning how to hunt prey. That's exactly what a team of scientists at the Institute of Neuroinformatics at the University of Zurich in Switzerland did. They taught a robot to behave like a predator and hunt "prey," or a robot controlled by a human, using special software to aid the robot to mark its target and pounce.

The applications of these lessons for the predator robot are a lot less terrifying than thinking robots are about to start hunting the human race. It's about creating software that could potentially allow a robots to both take a look at their environments and then discern a target in real time.

For instance, as Tobi Delbruck, professor at the Institute of Neuroinformatics explained, "one could imagine future luggage or shopping carts that follow you." This allows the software to transcend the labels of "predator and prey" to reach levels of "parent and child," but the fundamental operating basics remain.

The predator robot's hardware is actually modeled directly after members of the animal kingdom, as the robot uses a special "silicon retina" that mimics the human eye. Delbruck is the inventor, created as part of the VISUALISE project. It allows robots to track with pixels that detect changes in illumination and transmit information in real time instead of a slower series of frames like a regular camera uses.

This allows for data to be processed by a neural network that helps the robot learn and adapt to the actions it should take the next time it "sees" something similar, which allows it to better track prey the next time it's asked to.

It's a wild world out there, and no doubt robots are going to be a huge part of it going forward. Just don't be surprised when you start seeing them taking point on newer operations just like these in the future.

(RT News)  -  The decision to serve only pork-free lunches in several schools in Basel Canton, Switzerland, has been blasted by the country’s conservatives, who accuse local authorities of giving in to religious minorities.

Four schools in the Binningen district of Basel Canton won’t have pork on their menu in the next academic year, the local council ruled last week. 

But the decision was strongly condemned by the conservative Swiss People’s Party (SVP), which argued that pork sausages were an integral part of Switzerland’s cuisine and culture.

“We are outraged. When we first heard [about it] we thought we weren’t reading it right,” Susanna Keller, Swiss People’s Party representative, is cited by Basellandschaftliche Zeitung paper.

During a Binningen Council meeting, Keller wondered: “could it be that we are adapting to certain cultures, rather than the other way around?”

The SVP believes that pressure from religious minorities saw the Swiss “deprived of their beloved Klöpfer sausages.” It’s forbidden to eat pork in Muslim and Judaic religious traditions.

The largest party in the national parliament sent a formal information request to the council, asking if the ruling would lead to “more demands in future.”

Binningen Council spokesman Bernard Keller explained that the decision to drop pork from the school menu was made after a survey, which revealed that 5 percent of the parents didn’t want their kids to eat this type of meat. 

According to the spokesman, the motives behind the parents’ desire to remove pork from the schools weren’t looked into. 

In March, Germany’s ruling Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU) also had to stand up for pork sausages, which were dropped by many public canteens, daycare centers and schools due to the influx of Muslim refugees.

"The protection of minorities – including for religious reasons – must not mean that the majority is overruled in their free decision by ill-conceived consideration," CDU parliamentary group leader Daniel Günther said, adding that tolerance also means “the appreciation and sufferance of other food cultures and lifestyles."

A number of people were injured in the battle, several of them when a Turk drove his car at full speed into a crowd of Kurdish demonstrators. Early accounts saying that two people were killed seem to be false; there are no reports of fatalities.

Riots broke out between participants of an authorized and an unauthorized demonstration. Turkish and Kurdish nationalists rioted. Four policemen were injured. A car slammed into a crowd of people.

In the early afternoon of September 12th, the inner city of Bern, Switzerland lit up when a group of Turkish and Kurdish nationalists incited a riot. A group of participants in a non-authorized demonstration occupied Helvetiaplatz, and attacked the police. They also attacked participants of another, authorized demonstration.

The police confirmed over a dozen people were injured, among them four police officers and one K9. This although even before the unauthorized demonstration took place, they were offered a different location by the police. But the group opposed the offer, so the police felt forced to clear Helvetiaplatz.

Both groups were heavily armed with bats, iron bars and other weapons, and it was extremely hard to separate them. The police had to use tear gas and rubber bullets. After the riot, Kurds accused the police of being extremely heavy-handed towards them.

The police also reported several incidents in which cars were involved. One driver used his car to slam into a group of people. In another incident, a man was pulled out of his vehicle and assaulted.

Supposedly there is a video making its round right now that shows a car slamming into a group of Kurdish nationals.

According to one female Kurdish participant in the riot, the Kurdish nationalists planned to disrupt an authorized demonstration of ‘Turkish Nationalists’. One eyewitness reports, “The Turks had stones thrown at them, so the cops shot gas bombs into the unauthorized group of Kurds.”

Another eyewitness reports “extremely aggressive circumstances”. The mood in the city took on an explosive undertone already early in the morning. “As we walked past Helvetiaplatz there were at least two injured Turks on the ground.” He also witnessed how demonstrators kicked down police barriers and set off fireworks.

The demonstration was organized by the “Union for Turkish Democracy in Europe”, the UETD. According to the organizing person, the demonstration was completely legal and authorized by the City of Bern. The Turkish UETD is closely affiliated with the Turkish Government Party the AKP. But they are not ‘Turkish Nationalists’, said the UETD representative Hakan Gobkas.

With this demonstration they wanted to protest against terrorism and the ‘Kurdish conflict’ in Turkey. In other words, they were protesting against Kurdish terrorism. There were about 100 participants, as their peaceful protest march was squarely disrupted by supporters of the PKK, the Kurdish Workers Party, which was in the majority with about 180 participants.

About four hours after the rioting started, the situation in Berne’s inner city has calmed down again. However, traffic routes through Helvetiaplatz and Casinoplatz were still not passable. The police maintained the barriers and blocked traffic until late into the night.

Switzerland would grant Edward Snowden asylum if he revealed the extent of espionage activities by the US government, recommendations by the Swiss Attorney General reportedly conclude.

According to Swiss newspaper Sonntags Zeitung, an official has said that Mr Snowden should be guaranteed safe entry and residency in the country, in return for his knowledge on America’s intelligence activities.

Last month, Mr Snowden was told he could remain in Russia for another three years.

He was not granted political asylum, but again awarded temporary residence as an extension of the one-year visa given to him last summer reports the UK Independent.

In the Swiss document, the question “What rules would apply if Edward Snowden is brought to Switzerland and the United States makes an extradition request?” was posed, leading officials to consider the diplomatic headache that would follow their acceptance of Mr Snowden as political refugee.

In it, four possibilities were reportedly examined, with the Attorney General stating that he would be interested in a testimony by Mr Snowden against the National Security Agency (NSA) and his full disclosure of its widespread surveillance.

Mr Snowden’s participation could be part of criminal proceedings or as part of a parliamentary inquiry, Swiss paper Le Matin says, and that extradition would be rejected if the country thinks it is being sought on political grounds or if the former assistant at the CIA faces the death penalty at home.

The report also states that the Swiss Office of Attorney General's Ministry of Public Confederation (MPC) is investigating the activities of “foreign states in Switzerland” including activities such as espionage.

As reported by Der Bund, however, the report does acknowledge that “upper-level government commitments” could create an obstacle.

Mr Snowden’s Swiss lawyer Marcel Bosonnet reportedly welcomed the conclusions, saying: “The legal requirements for safe conduct are met”, and said that Mr Snowden is interested in applying for asylum.

In contrast to Switzerland, a Norwegian MP has today said that if Snowden wins the Nobel Peace Prize - for which he was nominated earlier this year - and travels to collect it, host country Norway would have no option but to arrest him.

According to The Nordic Page, conservative MP Michael Tetzschner said Norway can and should arrest him, fulfilling the international agreements they have.

Swiss cut welfare to alien "migrant" workers

• Under pressure from the conservative Swiss People’s Party the flow of "free" taxpayer paid for crap to aliens is being cut off.

Switzerland is scrapping benefits for unemployed migrants from the European Union and planning new powers to expel them ahead of a referendum on a migration cap next month.

Residency permits for foreign pensioners who retire to Switzerland and apply for state benefits will also be reviewed. The aim is to relieve the pressure on the welfare budget.

Under new rules announced last week, Britons and other EU citizens, as well as incomers from the European Economic Area states of Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, will no longer receive benefits if they lose their jobs and have not contributed to Switzerland’s insurance fund for the jobless reports The Sunday Times.

Foreigners will lose their residency permit after five years if they have been out of work for the previous 12 months.

The tighter rules come ahead of the referendum on capping migration, called by the right-wing Swiss People’s party and scheduled for February 9. The party has described its proposal as an “initiative against mass immigration”.

The government and business leaders oppose the cap (naturally), which they claim could leave Switzerland without a vital inflow of qualified migrants (translation - cheap labor). In recent years, German doctors have been flocking to Switzerland, attracted by generous salaries, high living standards and excellent working conditions.

Switzerland is not in the EU, but has an open-border agreement with the union’s 28 member states. Under present rules, EU migrants are allowed to search for work in Switzerland for 12 months. If they have worked in another country for at least a year before their arrival, they are entitled to unemployment benefits immediately.

There are 1.8 million foreigners in Switzerland, about 23% of the population.

Critics refer to the referendum as an “initiative for isolation”, and suggest the government announced the new rules in an attempt to appease voters before the poll.

Johann Schneider-Ammann, the economics minister, denied there was any such ploy, but admitted Switzerland’s housing crisis was “partially” down to an influx of foreigners.

In a 2009 referendum, also backed by the Swiss People’s party, more than 57% of voters supported a constitutional ban on the construction of minarets on mosques. It subsequently emerged that there are only four mosques with minarets in the country.

Switzerland has revealed that they, like the US government, have been simulating collapse fall-out scenarios that could stem from widespread economic collapse, violent uprisings and mass refugee migrations.

Carried out in August, the army exercise was based on the premise of an attack by a financially stricken France split into warring regions, according to Matin Dimanche, the Lausanne-based daily.

This is by no means the first imaginary scenario dreamed up by the Swiss army. Last year, it carried out an exercise based on the premise that a huge wave of refugees crossed into the country after the implosion of the European Single Currency and ensuing chaos across the continent.

“Stabilo Due” centered around a risk map created in 2010 and envisaged internal unrest between warring factions as well as the possibility of refugees from Greece, Spain, Italy, France, and Portugal.

Warning of an escalation of violence in Europe, defense minister Ueli Maurer said at the time: “I can’t exclude that in the coming years we may need the army.”

Zurich has launched a novel experiment to make prostitution safer: publicly funded drive-in "sex boxes".

The teak-coloured wooden garages will be open for business from Monday for drive-in customers in a country where prostitution has been legal since 1942 on the outskirts of the Swiss city. The several dozen sex workers who are expected to use them can stand along a short road in a small, circular park where they can negotiate with clients. The park was built in a former industrial area between a rail yard and the fence along a major highway.

The publicly funded facilities – away from the city centre and open all night – include bathrooms, lockers, small cafe tables, a laundry and shower. Men won't have to worry about video surveillance cameras, but the sex workers – who will need a permit and pay tax – will have a panic button and access to on-site social workers trained to look after them reports the UK Guardian.

Modelled after the drive-in brothels used in several cities in Germany and the Netherlands, which have had mixed success improving safety, the sex boxes will be open daily from 7pm to 5am. The city has painted the outdoor bathrooms in soft pink and blue, strung colourful light bulbs among the trees and posted creative signs encouraging the use of condoms to spruce the place up a little and make it seem more pleasant.

"We built the place to be secure for the sex workers. It also had to be discreet for the sex workers and the clientele," said Michael Herzig, of Zurich's social welfare department. "But we thought if we build the place, we can also make it look good."

Zurich requires that street sex workers register with city and health authorities, and it offers health checks and requires that sex workers be at least 18 years old, in keeping with a Council of Europe convention on protecting children from exploitation and abuse.

In Switzerland, anyone who works in the sex trade must be at least 16, the legal age of sexual maturity. The income is taxed and subject to social insurance like any other economic activity.

Zurich’s so-called drive-in ‘sex boxes’ opened for business on Monday and got off to a “promising start” according to Thomas Meier, a spokesman for the city’s social services.

Due to the large amount of public interest in the site Meier explained that “expectations were low for the first evening”. But, seemingly, not everyone was put off, with a few clients and around 30 prostitutes making use of the facilities on the first night.

The aim of the publicly funded experiment is to make prostitution safer. There are no surveillance cameras on site, although the sex workers do have a panic button and access to an on-site social worker.

Located in Altstetten in a former industrial area of the city, the project also hopes to take control of prostitution and move it out of the city centre.

The spokesman added that it could take weeks or months before the site is operational at the desired level because “prostitution is a business that requires a certain degree of confidentiality”. On the opening night only a handful of sex workers were seen in the first hour, likely intimidated by the presence of cameras and journalists.

The ‘sex-boxes’, which are accessible only to motorists, can accommodate up to 50 prostitutes and are open all night. There are also bathrooms, lockers, a laundry room and a shower available for use by the sex workers. They need a permit to use the facilities and will have to pay a small tax.

An organisation will also be on site daily to offer them counselling, medical advice and even German lessons.
