(Summit News) - Spain has passed a new law forcing people to wear face masks everywhere outside and even while swimming in the sea.
Yes, really.
The legislation, which came into effect on Wednesday, mandates face coverings for children as young as six, with refusniks facing fines of €100 euros.
The only exemption to the rule is adults playing sports outside, but people tanning outside or swimming in a pool or the ocean are still required to cover up.
“This will apply to people who are sunbathing or even swimming in the sea,” confirms the London Evening Standard.
The utter stupidity and real danger of having to wear a face mask while swimming in the sea goes without saying.
Having to wear a face covering while placing yourself in a situation where you have a heightened risk of encountering breathing difficulties is totally insane.
Thankfully, there has been a huge backlash to the law, which has “spread dismay through Spain’s tourism industry,” according to the London Times.

Spanish officials have requested the army deploy to the streets of Madrid to help enforce a new 'partial lockdown' amid a reported surge in coronavirus infections.

Experts have revealed the gruesome details of a 15th-century ritual sacrifice site in Peru that contains the remains of more than 140 children.
In a new study on the archaeological site at Huanchaquito-Las Llamas, archaeologists explain that the children’s hearts were apparently ripped from their bodies. The grisly location, which is near the UNESCO world heritage site of Chan Chan, is the largest known mass sacrifice site of children in the Americas, they say.
The remains of over 200 llamas, or possibly alpacas, were also discovered across an area spanning more than 7,000 square feet. “Cut marks transecting the sternums and displaced ribs suggest both the children and llamas may have had their chests cut open, possibly during ritual removal of the heart,” scientists explain, in a statement. Analysis of the human remains reveals that they were boys and girls aged between 5 and 14.

An international team of researchers led by Gabriel Prieto of the National University of Trujillo compiled details of excavations conducted between 2011 and 2016. Their findings are published in the journal PLOS ONE.
Radiocarbon dating indicates that the remains are from around 1450 A.D., a time when Huanchaquito-Las Llamas was part of the Chimu culture. “A thick layer of mud overlaying the burial sediments indicates that this mass killing was preceded, and perhaps inspired, by a major rainstorm or flood,” they explain in the statement.
Experts were stunned to find such a huge mass sacrifice site in northern coastal Peru, some 350 miles north of Lima.
"This archaeological discovery was a surprise to all of us — we had not seen anything like this before …” said Tulane University Anthropology Professor John Verano, who is one of the study’s authors, in a statement. “This site opens a new chapter on the practice of child sacrifice in the ancient world."
The researchers note that the ritual sacrifice was “a large investment of resources for the Chimu culture” and hope to reveal more details about the sacrificed children.
Other grisly sacrificial sites have been revealing their secrets. A vast array of skulls buried beneath the streets of modern Mexico City, for example, have offered a chilling glimpse into Aztec human sacrifice.
(Gatestone Institute) - Ten members of an Islamic State jihadi cell have been sentenced to combined prison terms of nearly 100 years for a plot to bomb landmarks and behead infidels in Barcelona.
The cell, composed of five Moroccans, four Spaniards and a Brazilian, was separate to and independent of the jihadi group that killed 16 people in Barcelona and nearby Cambrils in August 2017.
The case shows that Spain continues to be a prime target for jihadis, many of whom are striving to reconquer al-Andalus, the Arabic name given to those parts of Spain, Portugal and France occupied by Muslim conquerors (also known as the Moors) from 711 to 1492. Many jihadis believe that territories Muslims lost during the Christian Reconquest of Spain still belong to the realm of Islam, and that Sharia law requires them to re-establish Muslim rule there.
The court heard how the jihadi cell — called "Islamic Fraternity, Group for Preaching Jihad" — was created in 2014 at a mosque in Terrassa, a city located 30 kilometers from Barcelona, with the objective of creating a global Islamic Caliphate.
Prosecutors said the cell's "sole purpose and motive was to fulfill and serve the objectives of the Islamic State and to carry out, at any time, an attack on institutions such as the police, banks or Jewish interests."
The cell's leaders — Antonio Sáez Martínez (a Spanish convert to Islam also known as "Ali the Hairdresser") and Lahcen Zamzami and Rida Hazem, both of Moroccan nationality — reportedly believed they could reach paradise "by attacking institutions, entities, organisms and symbols of Western culture."
The group had originally intended to join the Islamic State in Syria, but after three members were arrested at the Bulgarian border with Turkey, its efforts were refocused on Spain.
The 98-page court ruling describes the so-called Operación Caronte (in Greek mythology, the ferryman of Hades), in which Spanish and Catalan counter-terrorism police meticulously tracked and surveilled the cell members, some of whom were observed taking photographs of Barcelona's most emblematic locations, including train stations, luxury hotels, shopping malls and police stations, as well as the Catalan parliament.
Sáez Martínez also plotted to kidnap random members of the public, and, emulating the Islamic State, dress them in orange jumpsuits and behead them. The crime was to be filmed and shared on social media.
During police raids, police found explosives, and vast amounts of literature on jihad and bomb-making, as well as on European terror groups. These included the Basque separatist group ETA and Germany's far-left Red Army Faction.
The cell's three ringleaders were each sentenced to 12 years in prison, while the other seven cell members were each sentenced to terms between seven and eight years.

The Catalans, who have their own regional government based in Barcelona, have a troubled relationship with Spain, which violently stripped away their autonomy and attempted to stamp out their language during the Franco years, as well as settling hundreds of thousands of outsiders in the region to try and dilute its sense of national identity during the Franco years. So we see Spanish riot police aggressively suppressing a self-determination referendum on independence for Catalonia, which Madrid says “runs counter to the goals and ideals of the European Union”. There are only three options for Spain:
Rule with the consent of the governed
Rule with jack boots, tear gas and fear
or grant independence.

Rabbi Meir Bar-Hen delivered the grim, personal message on Friday in the aftermath of the terror attack in Barcelona that claimed 14 lives and left over 100 more injured. In an interview with JTA news agency, he said: “I tell my congregants: Don’t think we’re here for good, and I encourage them to buy property in Israel. “This place is lost. Don’t repeat the mistake of Algerian Jews, of Venezuelan Jews. Better (get out) early than late. Europe is lost.” Part of the problem exposed by the attacks, Bar-Hen said, is a large Muslim community in Europe with “radical fringes.” Once these people are “living among you,” he said of terrorists and their enablers, “it’s very difficult to get rid of them. They only get stronger.” This is not the first call for Jews to reconsider their future in Europe. As Breitbart News reported, the flight of Jews from mainland Europe has been rising in the wake of a sharp rise in anti-Semitism that should be a warning to the rest of the population, a prominent Jewish organisation warned last year. (Breitbart London) - Around 400 migrants stormed the 20-foot high barrier between Morroco and the Spanish enclave of Ceuta early Friday morning leading to over a hundred injuries.
The rush of migrants trying to penetrate the Spanish territory is the highest in recent years. The Red Cross has reported that it has led to many of the migrants getting injured in the process including 25 hospitalisations and 103 suffering minor injuries, as well as two police officers being injured, reportsEl Faro de Ceuta.
According to reports the migrants stormed the border fence in several separate areas using tools and scissors to cut through the fence as others attempted to climb over the massive structure. Authorities say that most of the migrants were men from southern Africa and El Faro de Ceuta posted footage of the men who chanted “Spain!”
The migrant wave is the largest in over a decade and easily overran the Spanish border security and police who could only account for 20 per cent of the migrants by noon Friday. The route through the western part of the Mediterranean has been mostly neglected by migrants in recent years, with most African migrants travelling from Libya to Italy. While the migrant rush is the largest single crossing in years, the Spanish enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla have received 7,888 migrants from January to October of this year according to the European Union (EU) border agency Frontex. Frontex has previously warned that migration from the booming populations of west African countries will make up the bulk of migrants in the coming years to the EU.
Melilla is a Spanish city on the north coast of Morocco, with an area of 12.3 square kilometres (4.7 sq mi). Melilla, along with Ceuta, is one of two permanently inhabited Spanish cities in mainland Africa. Ceuta and Melilla have been integral parts of the Spanish state since the 15th century.

(AP) — Hundreds of thousands of separatist-minded Catalans rallied in Barcelona on Sunday to show their support for breaking away from Spain, leaving the country without its powerful and prosperous northeastern region.
Barcelona police estimated on their Twitter account that about 540,000 people attended the rally in support of a legally-binding referendum that would achieve an independent Catalonia.
Catalan separatist leader Carles Puigdemont said that he plans to propose a government-approved binding independence referendum to secede from Spain by next year. Spain, which opposes secession, argues that an independent Catalonia would be ejected from the European Union and left out from using the euro currency.
Catalonia held a non-binding vote in 2014, when around 1.6 million people voted in favor of independence. Most of the region's 5.4 million eligible voters didn't participate after Spain's Constitutional Court ordered the suspension of the ballot.
In June, a Catalan judge recommended former regional president Artur Mas stand trial for staging the vote and ignoring the suspension. Mas claims the vote was carried out by volunteers.
Catalan National Day has long been used to mobilize the masses in support of secession from Spain.
Polls show most Catalans support a referendum on independence, but are roughly divided over splitting from Spain.
Catalonia shares cultural traits with the rest of Spain, but many Catalans feel their customs, especially their language, set them aside from the rest of Spain.
Acting Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, his conservative Popular Party and two more of Spain's main political parties oppose a Catalonian state. Only the far-left Podemos supports allowing Catalonia to hold an independence referendum.
The economically-powerful Catalonia has a thriving population of 7.5 million and accounts for 18 percent of Spain's economic output.

(Breitbart) - In an appearance on BBC’s “Newsnight” that aired Tuesday, comedienne Amy Schumer vowed to move to Spain if Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump wins the presidential election.
Schumer questioned critics of Trump’s opponent Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, calling the people that “aren’t informed.”
“That’s what I’m saying with the not being informed because those people aren’t informed,” Schumer said. “You know, if you go, ‘Why don’t you like Hillary?’ they’ll go, ‘She lied about her emails. What else is she going to lie about?’ People get one fact and that’s what they latch on to about a candidate. They’ll go, ‘She lied about that.’ I’m like, ‘Well Donald Trump has a fake college. Donald Trump doesn’t pay his workers. He won’t release his taxes.’ I haven’t had a conversation with anyone who doesn’t like Hillary where they’ve had anything meaningful to say.”

(Breitbart London) - Islamist vandals have attacked a church in southern Spain, damaging sacred objects and painting the word “Allah” on the walls.
The attack took place at the Church of Our Lady of Carmen in the town of Rincón de la Victoria near the city of Málaga on Monday morning. News agency EFEreports that the perpetrators smashed glasses, broke a wooden statue of the Virgin Mary, damaged the sanctuary and spray painted Arabic writing on the walls.
The damage was first discovered by parish priest Fr Agustín Carrasco, and is now being investigated by Spain’s Civil Guard.
The Diocese of Málaga has expressed its profound sadness at the destruction, but moved quickly to say it was an isolated act and not representative of the beliefs of all Muslims.
It issued a statement saying: “The Diocese is determined to continue dialogue and peaceful coexistence so that these acts, as well as the material and spiritual damage, do not produce a deterioration in dialogue based on respect and fraternity between different religious groups that nourish the Universal Church.”
This is the second time in just over a month that Christian symbols in the town have been targeted by Islamic extremists.
At the end of September, a 27-year-old Moroccan man was arrested after attempting to damage a statue of the Virgin Mary.
He reportedly hit a glass door protecting the statue with a large rock several times but could not shatter it. When police led him away he cried “Allahu Akhbar!” (“God is Great!” in Arabic).
Spain’s southern region of Andalusia has experienced high levels of Islamic immigration, largely from Morocco, in recent years.
The Gatestone Institute wrote in 2012 about how Islamists in the region are now calling for an “Andalusia Spring” to reclaim “occupied” Spain for Islam.
Andalusia was the last Islamic stronghold (Al-Andalus) in Western Europe before it was reconquered by the Christian Kingdom of Castile in 1492.
