In Defense of Ebenezer Scrooge

"Christmas is a humbug - a waste of time and money. A false
and commercial festival, devoutly to be ignored."

 Ebenezer Scrooge

By Gary;

2017 is almost gone and in many ways American society is in an even bigger mess than last year.

The religious holiday of Christmas appears to have no meaning to the tens of millions of crazy shoppers roaming the American malls.

In 2012 I was dragged against my will to a local Walmart on Thanksgiving night and viewed some of the insanity first hand.  These people are fucking nuts.  I vowed never again.

Just look at movies from the 1930s or 40s to see the massive shift in American society.  Back then little Johnny would get a baseball bat under the tree.  Little Suzie would get a doll.  A simple Christmas.  The children and the nuclear family were happy and all was well.

Today we have massive divorce rates, violence, everyone in debt to buy useless crap and near-illiterate adults and children greedy for worthless material goods.

Scrooge was correct in calling Christmas a false and commercial festival. Every year the orgy of spending and increased debt to buy plastic Asian made crap gets worse.

2012 was my last year in the malls and the spending is over.  I refuse any longer to join in this feeding frenzy of fools.

I think I will go to church instead. , , , , to church, after I take Scrooge out and buy him a few drinks to thank him for his advice.

Charles Dickens, like all good anti-business Liberals, just had to create the quintessential "evil" small businessman Scrooge.  The underlying theme of Dickens is making money is a bad thing, wealth is evil.  Only by giving away your hard earned money to others can you be redeemed.
.
The passage below is the perfect example.  Scrooge is painted as a bad man for daring to make a profit.  But if Scrooge did not fight hard for profit then who would pay the salary of his employee Bob Cratchit?

It was Scrooge's good head for business that allowed Bob Cratchit to feed his wife and children and put a roof over their heads.  But please don't bring facts up to a Liberal.

Ebenezer Scrooge: Yes, I have changed my mind. The price has gone up.
Mr. Pemberton: Gone up? But that's impossible!
Ebenezer Scrooge: If you want my corn, gentlemen, you'll meet the price I quoted yesterday... plus five percent interest for the delay.
Mr. Tipton: That's outrageous, Scrooge. You'll be left with a warehouse stuffed full of corn!
Ebenezer Scrooge: Well, that's my affair, isn't it?
Mr. Pemberton: If we have to meet your price, our bread will be more expensive. The poor will suffer.
Ebenezer Scrooge: Then buy someone else's corn. Good day, Sirs.
Mr. Tipton: Scrooge, one moment. We'll buy your corn... at the price you quoted yesterday.
Ebenezer Scrooge: It's too late for that, gentlemen. And if you wait until tomorrow, it'll cost you another five percent interest.
Mr. Pemberton: Damn it, Scrooge, that's not fair!
Ebenezer Scrooge: No, but it's business. I'll give you a second to make up your minds.
Mr. Tipton: All right, Scrooge, done and done!
Ebenezer Scrooge: Good. Make sure that a check for the entire amount is deposited with my clerk. I don't ship until I have the cash in hand.

Church fined $12,000 for helping the homeless

Just in time for Christmas

  • Why should the Christmas season be any different from the rest of the year?  We spend trillion to level cities in the Middle East and make people homeless, but we spend next to nothing to help homeless Americans.

DUNDALK, Md. (WMAR)  -  A Dundalk church faces a fine of $12,000 for helping the homeless.
“I showed up Wednesday morning to find a citation on the door that said we're going to be fined $12,000 and have a court date because we have unhoused homeless people sleeping outside the church at night,” said Reverend Katie Grover with the Patapsco United Methodist Church.
Grover added that the men and women who sleep outside their doors do so because they have nowhere else to go and because they feel safe there.

“We feel we here as a church that it's scriptural mandate that's it an imperative to care for the least, the last, the lost, the poor, the hungry,” she said.
While it may be the business of the church to serve the homeless, Chester Bartko, the owner of a produce stand next door, said it’s hurting his business.
“We can't be here all night patrolling the area. We can't control whether someone comes and sleeps outside of our doors, so I don't know how we're cited for people who find refuge here,” Grover said.
Grover is now struggling with doing what's right and what's legal.
“The church should live up to the community standards, not be a magnet for these people,” said Bartko.
“They are children of God just as well, they're our neighbor just as well and I just try to explain we're doing the best we can,” said Grover.
The church is scheduled to appear in court on December 21.

"At this festive season of the year, Mr Scrooge, ... it is more than usually desirable that we should make some slight provision for the Poor and destitute, who suffer greatly at the present time. Many thousands are in want of common necessaries; hundreds of thousands are in want of common comforts, sir."

"Are there no prisons?"

"Plenty of prisons..."

"And the Union workhouses." demanded Scrooge. "Are they still in operation?"

"Both very busy, sir..."

"Those who are badly off must go there."

"Many can't go there; and many would rather die."

"If they would rather die," said Scrooge, "they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population."

Ebenezer Scrooge will save us!

The Greek Debt Con Game.
The international bankers tell us we are all going to Hell unless they get countless billions from governments and taxpayers to cover the bad loans they make.

If Ebenezer Scrooge was in charge we would not be in this mess.

By Gary;

Let me say right off that I love and admire the great businessman Ebenezer Scrooge.  A man who worked hard for a living, built a solid business and watched his money.

But in the pansy liberal fantasy world of Charles Dickens businessmen like Scrooge are to be mocked in every possible way.  In a political dig Dickens even patterned Scrooge on a relative of free market economist Adam Smith named Ebenezer Lennox Scroggie.

Scrooge would have warned us that big spending Liberalism and Socialism would fail.  Here we are with the United States and Europe bankrupt.

Check out this wonderful "deal" worked out for Greece by the moron international bankers and their boot-licking political allies.
  • The European deal calls for private banks to take a 50% write-down on the value of the Greek bonds they hold.
  • In return, Greece would get $140 billion in NEW bailout loans.
    Ebenezer Scrooge  -  A fine
    businessman and capitalist.

SCROOGE ALERT  -  Let's see.  Greece is totally broke.  Period.  The ruling class of bankers and politicians who were educated at all the "best schools" tell us the answer to bankruptcy is to loan Greece even more money.

Let's get real.  These people are fucking morons.

There is no way in Hell that Ebenezer Scrooge would run a bank or a government this way.  Nor would Scrooge stand for the insane spending beyond your means and phony printing press money by modern Socialist governments.

THE SCROOGE SOLUTION  -  I firmly believe that Ebenezer would look long and hard at the international bankers and say, "Fire their asses and sell off the banks."

In the pretend world of Marxist economics you keep the idiots in place who created the problem in the first place.  Then you pour in more and more tax money to prop up the failed policies of bankers who have not a clue what they are doing.  After all, banks are too big to fail.

But in the real capitalist world of Scrooge you would use the banking laws to seize insolvent banks that are poorly run and made bad loans.  Then you fire those in charge and sell off the assets of the failed banks to other banks that are run properly.

That is Adam Smith and Ebenezer Scrooge capitalism.

But Europe is run by the Charles Dickens Socialists.  They are doomed.

The morons running the international banks want YOUR money to cover their bad loans.
