"If I can raise the money, I'll do it," Graham said on Fox News Sunday. He argued that he would be the favorite to win the South Carolina GOP primary, a key early contest in the race that rivals the Iowa caucus and the New Hampshire primary in importance in the Republican race.
"If I am on the ballot, I am going to win South Carolina," Graham told Fox host Chris Wallace.
Graham cited his hawkish foreign policy, claiming that he had been "more right than wrong." In the same interview, he slammed President Obama's negotiations with Iran over its nuclear programs, saying there was no reason to trust the regime. Obama's deal was "deteriorating before our eyes," he said.
The South Carolina senator had some harsh words for his Kentucky colleague and potential GOP primary opponent, Rand Paul. Graham said Paul's libertarian views on foreign policy and countering terrorism were essentially the same as Obama's and Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton's.
"He wants to fight a crime. I want to fight a war," Graham said.
