(MSN)  The People's Bank of China is building a yuan reserve with five other nations in collaboration with the Bank for International Settlements.

China is teaming up with Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Chile, with each contributing 15 billion yuan, about $2.2 billion, to the Renminbi Liquidity Arrangement, China's central bank said in a statement Saturday.

"When in need of liquidity, participating central banks would not only be able to draw down on their contributions, but would also gain access to additional funding through a collateralised liquidity window," the bank said.

Russia and China have been attempting to develop a new reserve currency with other BRICS countries, Russian President Vladimir Putin said last week. 

The basket of currencies would present a US-dominated International Monetary Fund alternative and include contributions from Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. 

"The matter of creating the international reserve currency based on the basket of currencies of our countries is under review," Putin told the BRICS Business Forum on Wednesday, according to a TASS report. "We are ready to openly work with all fair partners."

In March, reports emerged of a Saudi oil deal priced in yuan.

A broke and extremely cash-strapped Sri Lanka halted all fuel sales except for essential services in a desperate attempt to manage a severe fuel shortage -- allowing the government to buy some time and send two government officials to Russia to negotiate a fuel deal. 

"From midnight today, no fuel will be sold except for essential services like the health sector, because we want to conserve the little reserves we have," government spokesman Bandula Gunawardana said in a pre-recorded statement, obtained by AFP News. 

While the government said talks were held with the IMF, India, China, and Japan for new credit lines, negotiations to purchase heavily discounted Russian crude oil are set to begin this week. 

Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said the two ministers would arrive in Russia early this week to continue talks about directly purchasing Russian fuels, according to AP News. 

"There is an advantage for us if we could buy oil directly from the Russian government or the Russian firms. There are talks going on," Wijesekera told reporters Sunday.

Earlier this month, Sri Lanka turned to Russia for cheap oil to purchase crude roughly $30 below the international spot price. The South Asian country said it received 90,000 tons of Russian crude but will need a lot more.

Simply, blockades or embargoes are mostly failures.  The British navy blockaded France under Napoleon.  France in turn embargoed trade with Britain.  The only real result was minor damage to the economies of both sides.  The wars themselves went on and on and on.

Thomas Jefferson's Embargo  -  Jefferson's worthless embargo against Britain was meant more to punish his Federalist Party enemies than the English.  Britain laughed at Jefferson and kept right on with their policies.

World Wars I and II  -  Germany was cut off from foreign trade in both world wars.  In neither case did it really impact the Imperial or Nazi German war machines.

Japan Embargo  -  FDR's embargo actually caused the Japanese Empire to roll the dice, attack Pearl Harbor and invade the Philippines.  FDR wanted the U.S. to go to war.  Some speculate that FDR's embargo was designed to encourage a Japanese attack.

Cuban Embargo  -  This embargo has been going on longer than most Cubans or Americans have even been alive.  Again, the embargo has been a total failure.  The Cuban government has proven they don't need trade with the U.S. to exist.

(Newswars)  License fee-funded state broadcaster the BBC hired “trans and nonbinary inclusion” consultants to train its staff that there were at least 150 different genders.

Yes really.

The Global Butterflies consultants were hired to provide diversity training revolving around the proper use of pronouns.

During the brainwashing sessions, staff were told, “people can self-identify themselves in over 150 ways, and increasing!”

Employees were ordered to include their own gender pronouns in company emails, a list which has now apparently expanded to include newly invented ones such as “xe, xem, xyrs.”

Staffers who insisted on using traditional he/she pronouns were warned they “can create discomfort, stress and anxiety” and lead to depression and suicide risk in trans people.

“If you overhear a colleague using the incorrect pronouns for someone, take them aside and remind them of the correct pronouns,” attendees were told.

Looking at history and current events I have become a believer in the killer ape theory.
